Dollar Tree throwing away outdated food

Today I was in the Rantoul IL Dollar Tree. The young lady had a cart full if expired assorted chips. I asked what they were going to do with them. She said throw them away.
Unbelievable! Those chips are still good. Why can't they be given to a shelter or food pantry?
As many food deprived people in the country, this is such a shame.
Please provide some information on this.
Thank you.

My guess is it is for liability and legal purposes. They must discard any expired food regardless of how good they are. If someone gets sick on these expired foods, they can be sued.

Dollar Tree employees, stocker and manager

https://www.mapquest.com/us/mississippi/dollar-tree-357013128

I was in this store today and these employees are the rudest I have ever seen. I ask a lady Stocker about a product which was loaded on a receiving cart near the check stand. She told me that she wasn't ready to do that cart yet she was working on one in the back . So I went up front got the product myself. I went to the check stand where the manager was checking out customers. As I approached I spoke he keep looking down, so I spoke again and said smile, He never looked at me but said
"I don't feel like smiling". So I said you in the wrong business, nobody want to be served by angry people. Three others customers said "these are some mean folks up in this store." I personally will never go back in this store, this is ridiculous! I have been in all the store in the Jackson area and never been treated so badly.

Dollar Tree manager janika

The store manager is very unprofessional. She's very rude to customers and also her employees she is always on her Personal cell phone and always late. She has a very unprofessional demeanor, she lacks customer service skills I don't understand how or why she is the store manager. Is this the way you guys run a business with unprofessional people representing your company.

On 07/01 or 07/02/19, I visited this store and was able to use my EBT card by manually inputting my 16-digit # and pin however, when I visited the store again on 07/09, I asked Manager Robbie would he allow me to manually input my information and he said no, with no explanation. I asked him if he was sure and he said no again & would not make any attempt...

Dollar Tree manager

I went into store to shop. I go in at least twice a week. I usually buy some of the same products but couldn't find what I was looking for so I assumed they moved it. I saw an employee filling the shelves in the food department. So I asked for her help finding my product the cashier called for help at the checkout so she started walking to the front and I said ma'am could you help me. She then told me you'll have to wait and kept walking. I was a bit upset due to I've always been treated so good at this store so I left my shopping cart in the aisle. Went to leave store and read her name tag. It was Melissa I was appalled that she was the manager after she just treated me this way. Her tag said management under her name. I will be shopping elsewhere with a manager like that there.

Dollar Tree store management / retaliation

I've worked at Dollar Tree #02522 (Worcester Fair Plaza) for about six months, and I've seen incredible acts of retaliation toward employees and other members of management since day one.

The Store Manager (male) displays great favoritism toward another manager (female), providing her with the most hours possible, while I, another female manager, receive bare minimum hours. We both hold the same job title, but he favors her greatly. While I receive between 32 and 34 hours each week, she receives 38 to 39 hours (the maximum for a part time manager, the position that we both hold, is 40).

An employee approached me and informed me that she couldn't work one of her shifts, as her Social Security income only allowed her to work a certain amount of hours. I informed the male Store Manager of her inability to work the shift, but that I was able to find coverage and that everything would be fine. He told me, and I quote, "She can't work that shift? That's fine; we'll just dock her a shift next week.", even though the following week's initial scheduled hours were in compliance with her Social Security restraints.

I myself make a point to never call out from a job unless utterly necessary (if I'm severely ill or if there's a family emergency). I called out ONE time thus far because my partner was in the emergency room in critical condition. My shift was intended to be eight hours long. I gave the female manager five hours of notice that I'd be unable to work my shift. I informed her that she could use some of my sick time to cover my absence, and we agreed that I would cover one of her shifts that week to supplement. She never used my sick time as I requested.

The following week, my hours had dropped from 36 hours to 24, and the female manager received 37.5 hours. I was docked a full shift as punishment for calling out, and claimed that there was a shortage on hours. Meanwhile, all other members of management still had the same amount of hours. Since then, they have been gradually increasing my hours, but they still practically refuse to schedule me more than 34 hours, while she, a manger that has called out multiple times, taken vacations, and requested consecutive days off, still consistently receives the near-maximum amount of hours.

I still have not been fully trained by the Store Manager. When I was first hired in March, he hurriedly gave me the run-down of my duties and then took a one-week vacation. I'd been with the company for four days and was expected to operate as if I'd been completely trained. We (assistant managers) are having performance reviews and are being evaluated to see if we are deserving of a pay raise in the next week or so, and I'm confident that I will not be receiving a raise due to my boss' negligence. Rather than scheduling the two of us on the same day so that he can continue to train me, he would rather schedule himself with the other female manager.

I recently had a bad breakup with my partner and confided in the female assistant because I was upset. I told her about what had happened in confidence. She then spread the story to my staff, exaggerating details to an embarrassing level. I have since heard comments regarding what "happened", and it has affected my quality of work. The female manager has also interrogating my direct subordinates, pressing them about if they had I had done "anything I [she] should know about that could get her [me] in trouble". She also insists that they tell her what I ask them to do on their shifts.

I am actively seeking relocation, but have yet to tell my boss in fear of having my hours slashed even further.

I am full prepared to write a letter to the Regional Director and subsequently begin a petition to have the store manager and female assistant separated immediately. Testimonies from my employees will be included.

The favoritism that is displayed between the store manager and assistant manager has caused a hostile work environment and has made everybody that works at our location uncomfortable. I strongly recommend that this female manager be demoted, relocated, or terminated due to the pattern of disrespect that she actively displays toward our employees as well as other members of management.

Me and my fiancé had an online order that we came into the store to pick up and the clerk called his manager Aaron out to help. He acted extremely annoyed that he had to do his job and was extremely rude. He barely said anything to us and was giving dirty looks the entire time. Then he just left our packages in line and walked off with our saying anything...

I work at the Chase Bank in the same complex and decided to pick up a few things at the Dollar Tree on Thursday July 25 2019. I don't know what was going on in the back room, but you could hear a lot of loud voices and the F-word being used a lot. This is not a way to conduct business with small children in the store. I shared my experience with my fellow employees and they were shocked to hear about this.

Dollar Tree general condition and store appearance

I have been a very satisfied customer of Dollar Tree for many years since the store came to our area. The store I frequent is the one on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue and always is a pleasure to shop there, always clean, well stocked, friendly staff. When the store opened in East Patchogue it is closer to my home and was delighted. I must say from the beginning this store was a great disappointment. The odor when entering the store and general appearance is disgusting. There is ALWAYS merchandise strewn everywhere, cartons on floor, narrow isles and things thrown everywhere..l have never seen neatly stocked shelves...I have tried going back several times but it is never any better. My husband was with me the last time and was so disgusted that he took the attached photos. I shall not go to this store again and know many others in area that feel the same. This store is in an area which can be frequented by many people not only by car but also senior citizens and those that walk to store. I hope this problem can be addressed and would appreciate your response.

Thank you for your time,
Marie and Vito Lena, [protected]@aol.com

I have gone into this store every Friday or Saturday for the past four weeks and I will never return unless something is resolved. The store manager is terrible as he only cares about tasks and not customers.
