My husband, the store manager, was fired on 3/18/23 for too many overrides that happened on the Friday before he was fired. He was told he did too many over rides for a customer. He told his boss and the loss prevention guy that he was the only key holder there that morning when doing this transaction for the customer, who is always buying up most of the discounted items, that were an extra 50% off that day but not ringing right on the register or matching the paper he was told to print out. So he over-rid the ones not pricing out correctly. My husband was also was told that because he knew the customer that he was doing the over rides on purpose because she no longer goes to his old store (08875) since he became the store manager across town (09839)... that is not true at all and if he, the loss prevention guy, knew how that store manager treated not only her employees but the customers as well she wouldn't be becoming a District Manager. That's discrimination on who my husband talks to and she isn't even a friend. Just an acquaintance that he met through work. So all in all he was wrongfully fired and he was with Dollar General since Sept 2018. He is very upset that it only took the loss prevention guy to make things worse by saying my husband favored this customer to HR department, when loss prevention guy knew this customer used coupons at the other store, she stopped because she was being treated like crap and discriminated against. And is now being told she can only use 5 coupons per day, when she coupons all the time. She also decided to go to that store way before my husband even took the store manager position over there and turned the store from a dump to a very clean and friendly store. Making things right for the customer is Dollar General Moto they should stand by that because that's what my husband was doing also during this sale that nothing rang right on. In my opinion as a wife who has helped him through this and been there when he started his career with Dollar General do believe that this company needs to talk to their employees being fired not just take people's word for it and say it was on purpose.
Desired outcome: The desired outcome is him getting his job back with compensation to the pay he has been without due to this firing and trying to get unemployment. And not be ridiculed for it.
Where does it say in the S.O.P. policy for Dollar General that you can only do a price over ride on one item except food that's pending expiration?
My husband was not the only one doing over rides that day either and not just at the store he worked. Shingle house PA Dollar General also did the over rides for this same customer. That was wrong for them to fire him bc of this and if you think it's ok to take advantage of a hard worker who turned a store around in a week's time and to fire him but not others is not ok. Dollar General should be looking more in to this than taking someone's words that are not true saying he favored a customer because she switched stores because she was treated poorly at the other store in our town. This customer has reached out to us about it and feels discriminated against. So hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else or they could have a lawsuit on their hands. It's discrimination and it's wrong.
He also was suppose to get his sales bonus he earned a month before being fired and never received it. I guess higher ups should be alerted to some of these things that happen to good people. Who make honest mistakes and admitted it.
