This is my second order in 3 weeks. The first order arrived on the agreed date however not without issues. 10 minutes into the agreed time, 4.00pm to 6.00pm I received a SMS "Sorry, our driver wasn't able to deliver order #xxxx4933.
Options available, reschedule, pick up from store or cancel. I contacted "Live chat" as I could find no other option for answers. My place in the queue was 77. After 70 minutes of waiting I finally had the opportunity to discuss the proposed options. Firstly I was advised that the first driver had cancelled the delivery and returned the order to Bateau Bay store. I could proceed to the store at Bateau Bay and collect. During this discussion I received another SMS saying my Uber delivery was 9 minutes away. I was also provided with a live map showing the location of the driver. As I live in a secure apartment building I waited until the driver approached my street. I then proceeded to the street level and waited outside for the driver. The assigned vehicle turned into my street and proceeded to the apartment building next door (38 not 48). By the time I got to the driver he had unloaded 4 of the 5 cartons. The driver was not happy that he had to re load his car and move to the correct building. Finally received the delivery with no offer of assistance to take the cartons to my apartment on level 6.
Once bitten, twice shy.
Next order placed on December 5, 2025 and credit card charged immediately. Delivery agreed for December 8, 2025 between 4.00pm and 6.00pm. December 7, 2025 at 3.24pm an email from Dan Murphy advising your order is on its way.
"Your products have left the Dan Murphy’s store and are headed to our depot. It won’t be long until you’re kicking back and enjoying your latest delivery from Dan Murphy’s".
Next, an email from Australia Post December 8, 2025 at 6.46pm (a little after the delivery time) stating my order was in transit to the next facility.
December 10, 2025 at 2.51pm another email from Australia Post advising my order had arrived at Lisarow NSW and confirming delivery today. As I scrolled down, the next part of the message states delivery expected Thu 11 – Fri 12 Dec. Remember today was December 10, 2025.
On December 12. 2025 at 10.46am, no advice or confirmation of delivery. I contacted Dan Murphy’s live chat. This time I was only 37 in the queue. After about 20 minutes I was connected. Very abruptly I was told that Australia Post are extremely busy and delivery should be there next week. I asked to speak with a Manager as I was not happy with the "should be" as an answer. A "Manager" called me and provided me with a similar story however with a twist. Despite the message from Dan Murphy’s stating “my products have left Dan Murphy’s store and the message from Australia Post advising on December 10, 2025 that my order was in the Lisarow depot (19 kms from my home) the Manager advised that only part of my order was in Lisarow and the other part was in Botany (113 kms from my home). It was my understanding that the order was being dispatched from Bateau Bay (6 kms from my home) as this was an option for me to collect from there.
Initially the best option from Dan Murphy’s today for a quicker receipt time was to cancel the order, re-order using Click and Collect and then request a refund. The first part of the process involved waiting until the order was delivered, refuse delivery, wait until Australia Post returned the goods to Dan Murphy’s then wait up to 10 days for the refund to be processed. The second part of the process was to re-order using the Click and Collect method, pay a second time and proceed to collect from Bateau Bay. Why were my packages not delivered from Bateau Bay directly. It would appear that the method chosen by Dan Murphy’s was for its convenience and not to deplete stock from its Bateau Bay store. Having potentially waited up to 10 business days for delivery (Dan Murphy’s guarantee 2 to 4 business days) why would I opt to refuse delivery and then wait weeks for a refund.
I eventually agreed on waiting for the delivery. Weather it is fact or fiction, delivery was then stated to be early next week. Another contradiction however I remain hopeful of a sooner rather than later delivery time.
I was offered and accepted a 10% off voucher to be used on my next on-line order.
I decided to place a third and much smaller order using the 10% voucher. I placed my order and selected the 60 minute delivery (fee attached and agreed to). At the checkout delivery was moved from 60 minutes to the earliest being after Christmas. I cancelled this order and proceeded to re order using the “Click and Collect method.
Two Orders for delivery, Two Failures — A third attempted delivery order another failure -- Dan Murphy’s Delivery System Is Broken.
At least the Click and Collect worked.

Recommendation: Don't accept the initial offer to cancel when delivery times promised are not adhered to.
