I have had cricket service since February 28th 2024 and attempted to unlock my phone (to move to a more honest company), but they flatly refused saying I needed to have been using it for 6 months (It's been 1.5 years) and wasn't "tenured". The phone was being used and the bill was paid on schedule. I contacted customer service, and, after asking for PROOF of when this so-called interruption of service was, I was provided none, then hung up on! "MIchelle" was the agent (like that matters).
Anyway, now I'm stuck with an iPhone 12 that I can't sell with no way to unlock it.
This is a CRIMINAL attempt at forcing people to continue using Cricket's service (which is TERRIBLE). It's bad enough to get bilked another $10 if paying over the phone or $5 in person.
Claimed loss: unable to move to better provider. unable to sell phone.
Desired outcome: unlock this phone

I've had service since Feb 2024 and decided, after being disgusted with their hidden charges, completely lacking customer service (their chat agent EXITED the CHAT when I pressed for evidence), and poor signal quality in Kentucky (not to mention extremely slow "5G" speeds equivalent to a dial up modem), and decided to switch to a more honest and affordable carrier. I went to the unlock page and was denied unlocking (saying I had another 89 days left). WTF? I've been on their service for 17months with no interruptions that I know of. I asked for proof of this (any interruption) by phone (hung up on), then by chat (hung up on).
Anyway, I am stuck with a locked phone (now I have to buy another phone with another carrier) which is unsellable as it is locked, solely because Cricket wants to force customers to stay on their network. This has had the opposite effect (originally, I was just going to sell my phone on the market unlocked as it's a better deal than swapping at Cricket).
The contract said NOTHING about unlocking policies requiring any contiguous use (I have proof).
I'm writing this so others do not get scammed by Cricket. Since they were bought out by AT&T, they now follow AT&T's corporate strategy of bilking customers any way they can including "bait and switch" scams.
