MetLife rate increase of 15.18 % in 4 months

I am a 100% disabled army veteran who is on a very tight budget. I purchased dental insurance thru met life for my wife jenny approx 4 months ago or less. The lady told me i had to keep it one year at the rate of $55.00 today i get a letter from met life dated dec 18 2015 stating that they are having a deduction change to $63.35...Thats 15.18% increase in less than 4 months. I feel this is a breach of contract and no longer trust or want met life's dental service for my wife. As of jan 1 2016 i am cancelling automatic transfer funds due to breach of contract. Thank you and merry christmas, joseph bartek

MetLife life insurance

Good Grief, a 60 yo 3rd grader! No wonder Charlie Brown has to make a living with MetLife stealing from widows and children. What a block head! My late husband and I did the responsible thing 13 years ago and purchased term life insurance policies in case anything should happen to either of us. We never missed a payment, MetLife deducted payments up until (and even after he died) and I thought myself and our two children would receive the proceeds of the policy when we lost my husband 5 months ago. However, this didn't happen. MetLife found an age loop hole, and denied our claim. I'm not asking for anything we haven't paid for, only that MetLife pay the proceeds of the policy we purchased 13 years ago.

Metlife uses a tbird party called Allsup inc. They charge a fee of $4500 to gather nformation from doctors to get my diasbility approved. It took 18 months to get approval for disability after 3 spine surgeries, fybromyalgia, a autoimmune disease and permanent nerve damage in my right leg. I was in no condituon physically or mentally to do what wss necessary to get my disability. Why did it take so long to get approval? Because the longer it took, the more money was increasing for metlife and the IRS. I followed all of the requirements of my employer to file with SS/RRB, as well as to contact Metlife. Where it got me was in debt to metlife. Bottom line, Metlife and the IRS are in bed together getting fat and rich, and I'm struggling to make ends meet financially. Why am I struggling? When my.disability was approved, I received a retroactive payment, but it was federally taxed at 45%. Now I owe Metlife the taxes that were deducted. Now my income for 2015 is increased and I will not receive full recovery of what I was taxed from the IRS. Bottom line, metlife wants the taxes which were approximately $22K. I don't have $22K. The government also got me for $22K, and they will get me again when I file my taxes for 2015. The rich get richer and the poor stay poor. Now I'm on a pament plan with Metlife to pay back what was taxed. I offered to pay them $297 per month, but that is not good enough. They want a larger payment that i can't afford. How is this legal? I have a debt that will take me 6 to 7 years to pay back. I didn't ask to become disabled. I paid up every year for insurance for 20 years through metlife to receive 62% of my pay in case something happened to me and it did. Where is all of that money Metlife? Now they want the tax money from me. Where is the justice in all of this? There is none. Metlife, my company and the IRS are a disgrace. Where is Robinhood when you need him. Snoopy, walk away as a mascot for Metlife. The mascot should be a red devil or the Grimm Reaper. Scammed, disgusted, depressed, stressed, sickened, exhausted and broken.

I submitted a claims in Dec 2014 for a foreign dentist, even today my claim is not processed. everytime I call the call center i end up spending 30 minutes to explain thay my claim is due and I have already prpvided all the information. I am told it is getting processed and then I call them back and realise nothing was done to process claims and this is when I am speaking to supervisors. There customer representatives dont even know the process to raise a complaint and refus e to prvide the process to raise a complaint. Horrible experience

MetLife change in coverage not processed

I called MetLife in September to have my son removed from our coverage, since he got a job and has his own dental coverage. I was verbally told by the customer service representative that it would be taken care. For October and then November we were still charged the higher rate. When I called back to find out why I was told that the request to remove my son had to be submitted in writing, although their own records show that no one contacted me to tell me this or provided me with the address to send the request. I have still not been provided with an address, despite talking to 4 different people in 3 different departments. They are looking into making an "exception" to refund me the money I overpaid due to their dysfunction.

MetLife incompetence

As I am reading the reviews regarding Metlife, I am seeing a pattern. I have worked for a company for 18 years and I recently went out on STD due to severe back pain. People at work gave me horror stories, yet I wasn't worried. I figured as long as I stayed on top of things, everything would work out just fine. I was so wrong. The incompetence surfaced very quickly. I went out on 8/6/15. And for the next two weeks while I was staying on top of it, I kept being told it was being referred to a LTD specialist. Their system kept showing I went out in February 2015. That alone took two weeks to get corrected. On 8/26/15 my claim was approved through 9/3/15. On 8/27/15 I had my follow up visit with my doctor. Based on my progress, he submitted a request to extend things out for one week. On 8/285/15 I confirmed that Metlife received the paper work from the Doctor. I was told it would be reviewed within 5 days. After that time period had elapsed, I kept calling to check the status. Each time I was told I would receive a call back within 24 hours and each time they verified my contact number. Fast forward to 9/21/15, still nothing. So I decide it's time to escalate to a supervisor, I've been patient enough. Surprisingly enough, the moment I ask for a supervisor, it appears they are calling an incorrect number. Supposedly they contacted my doctor on 9/15/15 to request more info. I ask how much time does the doctor have to get the info to them. They could not answer. I advised them adequate time needs to be given since I am just now being notified that they need more information and that they have called an incorrect CBR even though EVERY TIME they verify my CBR correctly. Because of this, I request to speak to a supervisor. When I arrive to work on 9/22/15 I was informed by my HR department that my 1 week extension was denied. Strange coincidence that happens on the very day I point out their incompetence and request to speak to a supervisor. Later in the day I speak to my case manger, she confirms she has called an incorrect number trying to reach me and that she made a decision to deny my claim since additional info was not received from my doctor. I advised her, since I am just now finding out about this, she should re-open the case and allow my doctor 5 business days to respond. But of course, that is NOT an option, even though it was THEIR mistake. Now I have to go through an appeals process, in which they have 45 days to make a decision. Just a quick recap, they have all documentation on 8/28/15, they take a full 11 business days before they decide to review my extension. Once they do, they reach out to my doctor and give them LESS THAN 5 business days to respond. The way I see it, my doctor is in the business of treating people and Metlife is in the business of approving/denying claims. If they take 11 days to review my account, my doctor should have 11 days to respond. I am being PUNISHED for THEIR incompetence. I am back at work now. My focus should be on performing my job functions, I shouldn't have to be still dealing with Metlife's incompetence.

I totally 100% agree with you as to Metlife"s INCOMPETENCE !Tjey collect the citizen's money-people like ou and I and that's that!? Absolutely your doctor should have the same 11 days as Metlife took and it sounds like total scam!?!

I am looking to file Complaint with every Federal Agency that oversees Life nsjranc Companies as I never got the $2000.00 Life Insurance for my Mother who was a clerk & got life insurance (which I'm sure, at the time raising 2 children on her own, was a struggle) but I dd nt receive?
I became a victim of cyber/idrntut theft and endless kisses due to fraud and scams and MetLife does this to many weneficiarires -I have learned and your story -altough preposterous-i am NOT the least bit surprised with their horrific reputation!
After several months, Metlife deemed the signature a forgery but some ridiculous story that gory interviewed TD Bak where I inherited but withdrew in a month he=yet their conclusion and investigation ended after TD Bank said that I deposited $2, 000.00 there which is a total LIE AS THAT BANK IS DECEIPTFUL AND STEALS YOUR MONEY TOO! WHERE ON THE STATEMENT DOES IT SHOW A DEPOSIT? I waited close to an hour at MY BANK to see if the Metlife money was directly deposited here yet only to learn that it gets mailed...!
(I NEVR EVEN USED TD BANK? In conclusion, Metlife THINKS, they jibe ut was a forgery but after intrviewing a bank that I DO NOT USE, they conceded I got it? Bizarre lacking any sense of honorable business tactics and fraudulent 100%!
DO NOT- i repeat, DON't ever use metlife for anything as they're NOT ONLY INCOMPETENT BUT lack empathy, fraudulent, disrespectful lacking the decency to be in any form of dealings with the public due to their lack of total disregard to the truth lacking even basic COMMON SENNSE! good luck to you in all of your endeavors!

MetLife absolut disaster

Their investigations towards the decision of whether approving a claim or not are very poor. They are very unreasonable, unreliable and unprofessional. They have denied my claims on several occasions and I have had to appeal. The claims are not evaluated in their merits. They do not abide by the contract (policy). They do not respect the due process. I have been without income for months because they take too long to evaluate the claim file. This makes it very hard for me to get my medications and pay for my medical bills. I have not found any coworker who is satisfied with the service from this company. I really wish my employer would get coverage from a better company. Seems MetLife works really hard to deny the claims.
This company shows complete disregard of the contract terms for the coverage and the consequences of their lack of professionalism. Their denial decisions have been unrealistic and offensive to my intelligence. Their appeal process is a joke: they will not provide you a copy of the disability plan, the appeal form is not even two pages long, they do not provide you with the credentials of the MD making the decisions. Also a copy of the file upon which the claim decision was made is only available if requested in writing, delaying the appeal process. In general terms it is a waste of money.

MetLife coverage for kids

This horrible company said that they only cover IV sedation (needle in the arm) for KIDS! FOR KIDS! My AUTISTIC son needs to be sedated to even clean his teeth due to his disability and Metlife will only cover IV sedation. Who in the crap would do that to kids... especially kids with disabilities! What a horrible company. I have provided them letters from his doctor along with letters from the dentist saying you can't even get near his mouth without sedation yet they refuse to cover the Non IV sedation (gas).
First off I would not do that to my kid and I don't know how they sleep at night knowing they are doing that to children, secondly there is no respectable dentist that even freaking offers it. It is DANGEROUS AND HAS MANY COMPLICATIONS associated with it verses the Non IV sedation.
The non helpful employees that tell me a different story every time I call told me my only option was to call our company (United Airlines) and ask them for another policy in mid year... (yeah right)... but I did and they said it was the only policy they offered period.
Having this should be a crime against children in general and even more so when it comes to children with disabilities. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE company that rather HURT children then help them. Company that disregards special needs kids and the overall safety of kids to save a buck. I am filing this complaint along with contacting anyone celebrity, lawyer, online review sites, and more to spread the word and we will all ban together against companies like MetLife that HARM children and special needs children.

MetLife denial of claim after being approved

My son fractured his front permanent tooth at the age of 11 and his root was exposed. The dentist deemed it medically necessary to put a crown on it. MetLife denuded to claim due to age limitations stating he was too young for the procedure to be needed. After calling MetLife and explaining the situation MetLife requested a narrative from the dentist. MetLife them reconsidered their decision and approved the claim. Less than a week later MetLife went back and denied the claim for a second time stating it was based on age and they had not received a narrative from the dentist. How can they deny a claim after approving it? I will continue to call MetLife every week until this issue is resolved.

MetLife require inonizing xray to prove tooth was extracted

I have metlife high option dental insurance through opers. I had to have a tooth pulled. I got my statement saying they have to see the xrays before they will pay for the extraction! I called and talked with a representative of metlife - they wanted an xray after extraction to prove there had been a tooth removed!

So they require that I be subjected to potentially cancer-causing ionizing radiation to tidy up their paperwork! That is a violation to the hippocratic oath to "first to do no harm"! I, nor any human being should be subjected to ionizing radiation to satisfy billing requirements of an insurance company!

This is ridiculous on so many levels! How does a gaping hole where a tooth once was on an xray prove anything? If they are that mistrustful they should send a representative to observe — not irradiate me for no medical reason!

Please someone start a class action law suite against this company! — they deserve to loose a few million for this ridiculousness. I pray they are not requiring this travesty to be carried out on minor children — shame on you!

MetLife denied claim for onlay

I had a large composite filling, about 20 years old on one of my molars. At a check up in April my dentist noticed decay along the inside of the tooth and into the existing filling. After xrays, she said we'd need to do an inlay or onlay because of loss of structure. I had an onlay done in May and after 3 weeks of waiting for my EOB with MetLife Dental, they just denied the ENTIRE $722 claim due to "insufficient evidence of extensive loss of tooth structure due to decay." Seriously? My dentist sent them the xrays and all the notes. So, my dentist is a complete fraud and did work that wasn't needed? Now I have to waste my time and energy appealing this claim and possibly can't even use my Flexible Spending Account money because insurance has denied it. Don't use METLIFE dental unless it's for cleaning and maybe a filling. Anything beyond that they will deny and hope you don't appeal. AWFUL COMPANY!

MetLife mistakes in a claim raised bills failed to change vehicle when traded 5 months trying to get fixed

We had a claim in 3/13 that was caused by mud no other vehicle involved, car now cranked the ground caved and had to be towed out of it. Metli wasted over two weeks prior to me getting it in shop for repairs due to handling of it. They wanted to used parts or aftermarket parts on a new car and had to send pictures of damage to a 3rd party before approving it the employee instead of sending pics of car sent pics of tiki huts and beaches. Then in jan 14 our monthly auto pay went up when I called to see what happened was told it was drivers at fault and we had lost discounts so rate was increased. After hours of phone calls someone promised it was fixed. At the same time I also found out that my husbands vehicle we reported traded in july 13 still was insured not the vehicle he is driving. The rate was higher on the traded vehicle this too was promised to to fixed. They rewrote the policy back to jan 1 the new vehcle was covered, not back to july as it should be. Our agent who sold the policy has been no help to us at all infact he has argued with us and metlife that it was driver fault also tried to get metlife to sue my son whos home we at at the time the damaged happened and has informed us we are trouble makers for calling him. He is rude to say the least. He has misquoted many facts and argues and yells. We stopped our auto pay because we are owed but every bill there are no credits and it keeps raising. Yesterday I got a bill for this month and the next 2 totalling 441 I called our agent trey pintagar huntsville al about this he first told me this was the amount 441 we will pay for 9 months by it off auto pay it dropped from 12 to 9 payments my husband called he was told the 441 was every month the bill plainly reads it is 3 months. Almost 5 months of trying to them to correct thier mistakes is entirely too long the attitude from our agent is uncalled for. We are very upset

MetLife dental claims

These people are a joke! Several years ago, can you call it several if it's over 25 years ago? I had some lousy work done to my mouth, where I have had several of my teeth extracted. I found a great Dentist here locally that has managed to save the teeth I have left, and placed two temporary bridges in my mouth were excellent. I am back to get the permanent bridges, at a cost of 8, 000.00. My Dentist submitted all the paperwork, I have been monitoring this claim on-line, saw that they received a Pre-Treatment- Diagnosis, then it was just sitting there unattended. First it was the X-rays were needed, then the dates the teeth were extracted, when I informed MetLife, that it was so long ago, I couldn't remember, I don't live in NY, and haven't for the past 15 years. I was informed by e-mail, "No worries, this is there response "Thank you for writing to MetLife Online and allowing us this opportunity to assist you. I understand if you cannot remember the exact date. You can provide just the month and year however, the information will need to be submitted in writing on a copy of the EOB. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept this via email. I hope this is helpful. Please let me
know if you have any additional questions.

Today's E-mail reads "Thank you for writing back to MetLife Online and giving us this chance to assist you further. We appreciate you taking the time to provide the additional information, as it was most helpful. We have received the information. However, after reviewing it further, our Claims Unit does need the exact date of extractions. Please verify this information and submit it along with the EOB. This can be faxed to

I understand that this is probably not the information that you were
expecting to hear but I hope that it has been helpful.

I have been haggle with this insurance since 3/18/2014 and we are a month into and NOTHING!

Unhappy with my MetLife Dental insurance this year. My plan should cover two check ups and one bitewing image a calendar year. They told me that I already exceeded my coverage and I needed to pay out of pockets. One of the evaluation by the dentist was a limited evaluation because I had an infection and they wanted to check on the root. But, MetLife said that it is considered as one of the 2 check-ups. Then, the dentist took an X-ray for one of the teeth because it was infected. MetLife also states that counts toward to the full mouth X-ray coverage.
I still don't get it. The years before I had the full mouth X-ray paid and then any other single bitewing images when I had a root canal or crown done. Rip off.

MetLife accomplice of identity theft

I do not recommend using MetLife for medical insurance. Having had experiences with different insurance providers, I find that MetLife is still using an outdated system to handle insurance records. In particular, they are still using the insured person's SSN as ID in a time and age where identity theft is rampant. For every physician you visit, you need to enter your DOB and ID, which ensures that your SSN and DOB appear together on the paper and computer records at every physician's office you have ever visited, unnecessarily increasing the risks of identity theft for the insured parties. After talking to their customer service, I find that they have no plan to update their antiquated system. Maybe, for our own protection, it is just better not to use MetLife.

MetLife coverage denied

Ridiculous, incompetent, 3rd rate insurance. Paid for option 2 (Metlife put me in option 1) . Dentist submitted pre - approval for a crown 3 times. 2 times it was denied stating that my coverage did not cover crowns. Finally, metlife rep called dental office and said, "yes, the crown was covered". Apparently, metlife is well - known for denying coverage till coverage elapses. When dentist got verbal approval (Per their office records) we scheduled to have the crown installed. Since it was past the periods that it was being denied they now say i owe them $263. I did not pay another $135 for another month's coverage, would you? Every bit of this nightmare is documented with times, names, recordings, letters, anything you can think of.
If you want turmoil in your life then contact metlife.

Dental insurance is usually not worth it. Even if you need alot of dental work, there is usually a yearly cap on the payout, etc. making it likely you will pay more in monthly premiums than you would get out of it. Save your money and pay the dentist direct.

MetLife fraud

2yrs. We're given and within the LTD terms it said " unless" you have neuropathy, radiculopathy..ect after my spinal fusion. My surgeon confused me with my cousins wife, who had same surgery on at least 2 occasions. MetLife knew I was attempting to obtain all the proper info..in the meantime I am Dilantin toxic and didn't know it. This made me confused and tired. I tried 2 different MD during my appeals process and one doctor spent about three Minutes with me, said " your just a drug head and have no insurance so I can't run these expense test (MRI and LP) to prove you have MS and he could've at least done an EMG! I had an EMG done about a month past the deadline and it shows extensive issues with all their " UNLESS" issues. I saved the money, tried 2 doctors who failed me and basically tossed me out because I didn't have my Medicare yet..but unknowingly, I did! Medicare failed to notify me or send me a card until 5 months later. Now MetLife wants back money I've paid taxes on...hello?

I had hail damage in the 10/5/10 hail storm that hit Phoenix Metro Area, MetLife sent "Mike TORI" - who said it was from prior hailstorm. Just like Crusty who submitted his complaint in March. TORI is acting in bad faith. I have weather data to back me up. If you had problems with this guy contact me.

I incurred over $8, 000 of dental work of which over 50% was done while my dental insurance was in effect. My company canceled the insurance and MetLife denies my claim even for work that was done while the insurance was in effect. I am planning to take legal action against them.

MetLife disability denial despite medical evidence

The following contains facts and my beliefs. Anything that isn't fact is my opinion or belief. I believe met life disability insurance discriminated against me because I was receiving regular psychiatric, med monitoring care. On 8/17/12 I became disabled. I went to my primary care doctor (Pcp) who concurred I am not able to work and that it is due to a physical condition. I was working at the time and was supposedly covered by met life short and long term disability insurance. Met life swears that short term disability claims are decided in 10 days... My doctors submitted everything that was needed in a reasonable time and these incompetants took 33 days to decide my std claim. I repeatedly called this lady's supervisor, who did nothing. Then, my doctor stated that I was unable to return to work and that the bulging disk in my back and the fibromyalgia and pain prevented me from working and that it looked like I would suffer from a lifetime of pain and disability. Met life then repeatedly denied me long term disability because I have a long history of depression... And get this... Depression is causing the bulging disks in my back and also, according to met life, fibromyalgia is also caused by depression! My doctor has repeatedly told met life that the problems that prevent me from working are physical in nature period and have nothing to do with depression.
Met life had all the information that they needed to decide the claim in the original 45 days that they allow themselves to decide long term disability claims; however, they sent me a letter stating that they are extending that decision another 45 days due to "special circumstances" what were those special circumstances? They stated they were your file "is being reviewed by an outside physician" that isn't a special circumstance. That is their process when you appeal their denial, they send the file to be reviewed by an outside physician... There were no special circumstances, they are just refusing to decide the claim... I guess in hopes that all my utilities get shut off and I lose my house. So this doctor they sent my stuff to... What kind of doctor? A psychiatrist... Now tell me, why would they send a file full of physical disabilities to a psychiatrist... You guessed it... Simply because I have depression and take good care of myself by attending regular med monitoring appointments with my psychiatrist.

I believe met life has discriminated against me and denied me long term disability only because I have psychiatric issues. (That don't pertain to this disability nor do they prevent me from working). I need help here, if anyone out there can help me I would sure appreciate a good lawyer/ help as I am now going on 5 months with absolute no income and met life sent a denial letter to my doctor, who slammed them, told them how stupid their findings are and went through line by line correcting all the lies and misquotes they had in their denial letter. That was sent to them weeks ago... Today I called them, the guy said that their 2nd 45 days extension doesn't end until the end of march and that is when they will look at my case.

Please, if there is a lawyer or someone that knows how I can keep from losing my house and everything in it please help me... It is bad enough to be in this situation, but then to be discriminated against for vigilantly taking care of my psychiatric issues is horrifying.

MetLife metlife dental claim denial

I was shocked to learn that MetLife dental denied a claim to provide coverage for the dentures my wife ordered from her dentist, who is a member of MetLife's Preferred Dentist Program. I enrolled in OPERS MetLife Dental High Option Plan, which is supposed to provide the most coverage to my spouse and I (I'm a State of Ohio retiree) and 50 percent of Preferred Dentist Program fee for dentures. When I was informed by the Dentist office that MetLife would not pay for the dentures my wife ordered, I called up MetLife and talked to one of their customer service representatives, who told me that MetLife had a "missing tooth exclusion/prior loss clause", which she said means that MetLife can deny my wife's claim. I am filing a complaint since I was provided with information that MetLife provided 50 percent of Preferred Dentist Program Fee for dentures. I am also very unhappy with the way that MetLife's representative talked to me. She told me that I should have "educated myself" more about the plan. I am going through the process to appeal MetLife's denial of my wife's denture claim. I am very dissatisfied with the dental plan coverage from MetLifeative, and I wish I had not done business with MetLife.

MetLife terrible customer service

Bad customer service. The complaint department do not have an e-mail you can e-mail them. Everything is operated at turtle speed... Slowwwwwwwwwwwwww. Metlife does not seem to care about patient health. When I called the complaint department, all I get is an answer machine. I think the answer machine does all the work for customer service department. I cannot get a hold of anyone there when I used my cell phone to call this long distant number : [protected]. Does anybody have the same problem?

MetLife claim denial

I was driving in center lane in 75 service road. My lane would go straight or turn left but the guy on my left hand side was in left lane only lane. After we both stopped at red light the guy on my left tried to go straight while I made a left turn and hit my car. After 911 call police came to the scene and he clearly wrote on his incident report that the guy went out of the lane and hit my car. Police officer talked to one witness, both of us (drivers) and concluded the report. When the teenagers guy who just got his temporary driving license when went home decided to back out of the statement he gave to police and changed the story. At first looking at the incident report they agreed to settle the claim and even gave me car but later they decided to back out of that settlement. I even have them talk to the police and police officer clearly stated their insured client was at fault, both METlife adjuster Brian Wong and Joe garcia decided to slam door on me when they find out police officer lost witness contact information. I am single mom and I dont have car now and I cant afford to fix it. Clearly it is injustice. They know its their insured mistake but they were thrilled that police officer dont have witness information. I already filed with TDI.GOV, Better business bureau and I am planning to file myself in court. I will knock every single door to get justice because I know I was right. I will loose job if I cant go to work. Please guys support me by not signing up with MET life ever, if you think I am right.

I'm an independent insurance agent and I handle Met-Life and many other companies, I have never heard of a carrier going against a driver when the other driver was clearly cited by the police. I have to be pessimistic and think there is more to your story than you are telling us. Met-life is a very good company overall.

MetLife employee on long term disability

I have been on MetLife Disability due to my inability to work for the past 5 years. MetLife has provided medical coverage for me and my spouse during that time, with my coverage cost. My payments from MetLife have been My Benefit Less My social security Benefit, less my health care costs and less taxes (both state and federal).

I received a letter in October letting me know that as of June 30, 2013 they will not provide health care support and will charge me 100% of their total cost plus a 2% administrative fee. This will require me to pay for a Medicare supplement plan and for my 60 year-old-spouse to obtain individual insurance. Don't ever believe anything this company says - they would rather pay for a stadium name than support disabled employees. They should have a slogan - MetLife - we REALLY DON'T care.

I have been disabled for five years. While I am on Medicare and will only have to purchase a Medicare supplement plan, I have been covering my husband under group coverage. He is 60 years old, and MetLife's decision to cancel insurance for disabled employees will require us to purchase individual insurance until he is Medicare eligible. Adding insult to injury, is MetLife is making the change mid-year. This means that unless we pick up the MetLife costs of our current insurance + the totally insulting 2% override, we will have to satisfy deductibles with two carriers, thus adding to our already high medical costs for this year. Had MetLife given us more than a month or so notice, we would have been able to at least have a single coverage for the full year.

These people are inhumane - insensitive - and just plain mean to its disabled workforce. When I first went on disability I spoke with a person related to the health care coverage once disabled. When I asked if the company will provide group coverage until both my husband and I reached Medicare age, she said (naively) "MetLife would never cancel coverage for its disabled, it is a responsible company and would not abandon them." HAH! how little she knew.

Most insurers follow this same protocol. It is really unfair to sick, disabled employees.

Same situation here in Rhode Island...wondering if there is any recourse to force Metlife from NOT doing this to sick employees! I have a college student dependant who needs my healthcare coverage along with the fact that since we are already sick, no insurance company wants us and say goodbye to the life insurance benefits because if we have to transfer to a "customer" policy rather than an employee policy then we will get denied due to our disabilities...gotta love Metlife after 18 years of service! Any lawyers on this board that can help us all over the country?
