La-Z-Boy awful, awful, awful

One year ago, December of 2006, I purchased a Lazy Boy Recliner and a Lazy Boy Reclining Sofa. I have called for the last three (3) months to the Lazy Boy Store in Columbia, MD and the Lazy Boy Service Center to come to my home to inspect the recliner as it wearing small holes in the fabric. To date, November, 2007 I cannot get anyone to return my calls, let alone get a representative to look at this problem. I have been promised a phone call from the Lazy Boy Service Center for 3 months and NOTHING! The recliner is still under warranty. I guess that is why no one is willing to come and look at this problem. I have emailed the corporate headquarters for Lazy Boy and still NOTHING!

The wear of this recliner is not from use, as I am a widow and live by myself, therefore, one person use of this recliner is certainly not the cause of these holes in the fabric. I really do not know where to turn to next. When I purchased the recliner and reclining sofa, I intentionally bought from a reputable furniture store, so I thought. Not the case, it seems.

La-Z-Boy awful everything

I am fighting with La-z Boy furniture to get back my $4, 000. I spent with them less then a year ago. The fabric is falling apart and the swivel chair makes so much noise we can't hear the TV. Yes, their tech. came out and took pictures (twice!), His did not show the wear and tear on the fabric so we got a professional to take pictures and gave the tech. a disk. We have been denied our money back. The represenatives I spoke to said they would replace the swivel base and the cushion in the recliner chair and they would "shave" the pilling from the couches. So, they expect me to let them replace a defective seat in the recliner with fabric that has fallen apart in less then 6 months with the same fabric? Duh! I wish I had looked on the internet under "Laz Boy complaints" prior to this purchase. I think the thing that upsets me the most in looking at the complaints is the disabled people that have had problems with Laz Boy. Most of the complaints say "I am stuck" with this or that. This type of service is totally unacceptable. I think each of those people should contact the ADA and file a complaint. This is just the beginning of the "mission" I am on to recetify the poor service of a large compay.

La-Z-Boy false advertising/fraud

I purchased a la-z-boy power recliner from the local showroom (Oxnard, CA) and when i was there i was told that as a special they were running that la-z-boy would pay the sales tax...well that was a lie, when i get the unit delivered they give me a printed reciept that showed that all they did was raise the price of the chair to cover the tax. they gave me a hand written reciept at the timo of purchace that read as follows:

$1, 199.99 store ticket price foe chair
$ 99.99 Elite fabric protection plan
$1, 299.98 total from above
We pay sales tax
no charge for delivery
$1, 299.98 Total sale price

then when it was delivered i got a computer printed sales slip that read as follows:

$1, 100.91 store ticket price foe chair
$ 99.99 Elite fabric protection plan
$1, 200.99 total from above
$ 0.01 Delivery charge
$ 99.07 Tax
$1, 299.98 Total sale price

Additionally in the store the ticket that had the price for the chair on it was changed with white out. the price was changed i will represent a ? for the didget that was changed $1, 1?9.99 they wrote in by hand over the white out a "9". Additionally they told me that their gaurdsman protection plan would extend the factory warranty for parts and labor to 3 years for the electrical motor of my lift recliner. I decided to buy the protection plan based on that statement. When i get home and read the policy and call gaurdsman directly they state that they only cover accidental damage caused by me and they do not cover ANYTHING regarding manufacture warrantees. Thankfully when i pointed this out to la-z-boy they offered to return my money on the protection plan, but they basically refused to do anything for me regarding there claim to pay the sales tax. They told me also that as far as any warrantee is concerned the value of the chair is $1, 100.91 and not the $1, 199.99 that was the price in the store.

Basically they said yeah we lied about paying the sales tax, and tougfh that is the way we do it, after all someone has to pay the california sales tax. So in closing they lie to you every chance they get and just realize that if you go in there thinking you are getting some kind of deal, think again, they probably just raised the price of the furniture in order to represent whatever sale that they may be running as they did with me.

This posting is correct in the fact that sales tax is represented on the sales ticket that was computer generated. If this person understood anything that was being explained. that the only reason sales tax is howing on thier reciept is because sales tax has to be paid on everything. there was no slight of hand or mis representing anything. When they were in the store they agreed on a price and paid that price. there is no deception other than this story. I would like to set record straight. also lazboy warranty on electronic parts "IS" 3 three replacment of parts only. nothing more nothing less. I wish people would get thind straight before printing misrepersantations of the facts. May be they should go back to school and take a math class. know one wants to take responsibility for their own actions. it's always someone else's fault

La-Z-Boy bad business

If you are considering purchasing furniture from a LA-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery read the info below…

As a perspective customer you may want to consider this info before making your next furniture purchase @ your local La-Z-Boy furniture gallery.

If you live in the North East region think twice or research before purchasing from a La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire. The North East Distribution Center located in New Castle, DE is sending what is thought by the consumer to be new furniture but, that is not always the case. There are items that have been in the warehouse for 3+ years that are being sent to consumers. There are also items that have been in a consumers home for a lengthy amount of time and returned to the warehouse, repaired or un-repaired and put back into stock inventory for another consumer to purchase. The way a consumer can tell if there furniture is new or used is by referring to their law tag that should be on every piece of furniture leaving the distribution center. On the law tag there is an acknowledgement line item number that is 15 digits long. The first two numbers of the acknowledgement number is the year in which the furniture was produced (ex: 2009 would have 09*******-***-***).

Here is some additional info regarding the La-Z-Boy warranty that your sales person will not inform you of. The warranty is a limited lifetime warranty. Included is a 1 year labor warranty. The metal and wood pieces on the furniture are covered for a lifetime but only if you keep your original purchase receipt and only if the dealer still produces the metal or wood parts. The fabric/leather warranty is for 1 year but only if the dealer does not run out of that line of fabric/leather or if it has not been discontinued by the La-Z-Boy dealer. The warranty is only honored if La-Z-Boy reviews your furniture and agrees that there is a defect in the product. An issue will arise if your furniture is not a new product. If you receive an old item portrayed as a new item and you need to refer to the warranty you may not be honored due to an expired acknowledgment number or unavailable product for repair. Certainly the consumer can protest this but, there is an inconvenience factor involved. When you contact the customer service department for a warranty claim they will send a 3rd party technician to your home for an inspection and will report back to La-Z-Boy. If a part needs to be ordered the turn around time can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 months or more depending on if the part is already produced or if the part has to be made. You can also be in wait status only to find out the repair can’t be done due to lack of part productivity. Also, be sure to review the extended fabric/leather protection before paying extra money. It only covers accidental damage to the furniture & it has to be reported w/ in five days of happening & you have to know what it is. The sales person will mislead you on the protection information.

It is disturbing that companies are able to operate this way and that respectable individuals spending their hard earned money are at risks of falling victim to these kinds of circumstances.

For an elderly person looking to purchase a La-Z-Boy lift chair… don‘t. The chairs are defective & will only last at the most 6 months before something electrical goes wrong. Once this happens it is most of the time impossible for the company to detect where the issue is coming from & the chairs are sometimes never fixed.

In closing, if you or someone you know has fallen victim to any of the above your quickest and best resolution would be to take legal action. I hope this information will be helpful to many perspective consumers & consumers.

I purchased a LA -Z-Boy Lift Chair. I had the chair for 18 months and had no problems with the chair. The chair then quit working on August 6th, 2009 in a about 3 weeks it will be a year since the chair first needed repair. The chair has worked only 17 weeks out of the last 49 weeks and the parts are on back order and I have no idea how long it will take to get the parts. I do know that after the parts are received I will need to schedule a repair call with a third party repair service and that will take from 4 days to 4 weeks to get an appointment depending on how busy they are. They no longer make the chair that I have due continued electrical problems with the chair. I have had 4 MCM's (black box that is the brain for the chair), the wiring harness, the power plant and the MCM and remote have all been replaced 2 and I am waiting for a back order on the third set. I am disabled and need my chair, because I am unable to sleep in a bed and need help getting in and out of my chair. I have not had use of my chair 35 weeks out of the last 52. I would recommend that you purchase your chair from a durable medical equipment company who does there own repair work and understands that this is a piece of medical equipment not a standard recliner. I purchased this chair because it was designed for large customers who were tall and would accomodate some one who weighed 450 lbs, I weighed a lot less than that and was sure that would be dependable if I bought the more expensive model. I paid over $1100.00 for the chair. I also bought the chair from LA -Z-Boy because they were known for good recliners. I will never purchase anything from them again, I also will no longrr have a warantee on the electrical unit after November 2010, so it will cost me 320 dollars plus a service call every time the unit needs to be replaced. This means that if I need 4 units nedt year the repairs wills exceed the price of the chair, so the chair with the life time warantee, will need to be replaced after 3 years.

La-Z-Boy terrible customer service

My wife and I ordered a sofa and an ottoman after we got married because we had no furniture. So in August we placed the order with the sales rep. and he told us it would be 6-8weeks, we thought it was alittle long but decided it would be worth the wait! Then 6 months rolled by, we asked what happened. The customer service lady was very rude to my wife and said she has no idea why its not done, and she has no way to contact the factory! Then we finally get our sofa but no ottoman! They had no idea where it was. It took another 3 months for them to get it to us and when it arrived it was the wrong COLOR! So they sent us another one and it was the wrong COLOR again! So we finally had them give our money back(for the ottoman) after 10 months of pain and agony, NEVER SHOP AT LA-Z-BOY AND ESPECIALLY NOT THE ONE IN TUKWILA WASHINGTON! THEY ARE ALL SO RUDE THERE AND NOT HELPFUL AT ALL.

That's because your shipment was at the port in NY waiting to be brought through customs. Lzb is a piece-meal operation. The leather and fabrics are sewn together in China and then shipped to the US plants to be assembled. By the time it finally arrived at the lzb plant/warehouse the dye lots were unable to be matched - hence the wrong color. Definitely not a customer error - it's called lzb not wanting to take responsibility for their actions and not be honest as to how their product is manufactured.

La-Z-Boy order

purchased a LazBoy sofa and 2 chairs on 5-28-09 and I have not received them yet. I love lazboy as a company and I love ther product. All of the furniture I have is from Lazboy and it has always been the best of quality and service. This time around my order has taken much longer than expected but I have been informed that they have been taken over by a company called SPCI.

I have also been told that the previous owners were franchised from Lazboy corp. and that they are the ones at fault for my order taking so long. I was told that this new company is here to clean up the mess that they left behind and that they are honoring all of the orders left from the old owners. I am confident that I will receive my furniture and I will love it when I do get it. I understand that things happen and as long as they are willing to get me my furniture I am willing to wait a little while longer. I once worked for a company that had this happen to them and it was very difficult for all involved to handle and having had that experience helps me see that it is not the sales persons fault or this new companies fault. I have read some other reviews and they all put down the sales person but really they do just work for the company to feed there families and they have faith I am sure in this new company! So for the time being I will too.

I purchased a sectional sleeper sofa and end tables, I had problems from the start, the sticthing on the front is bad, after a week the cushoins are shifting out of shape, the arm on the end is loose. You can not turn or change the postion of the pillows and they are looking really bad after just a week I did call, right away I was told they were to busy at that time to come out and take care of it. They made an appointment and did not keep it, I emailed they called made another appointment they came out made pictures turned the sofa upside down, long story short I was called this morning and told that I have to keep this poorly made furniture. I have not made any payments, and I do not plan to I told the manager to pick up the furniture. I have never been so unhappy with a company. La-Z-boy recliners suck. I'll never, never own another one.

I have a motorized recliner. It has had a new motor, hand control, wiring harness, hand control, hand control, and now a fourth hand control.

They want $125.00 for this last control which replaces one after only 6 months of use. I wouldn't hit a bull in the *** with their cheap Chinese controls.

Needless to say, I'll drag it out of the house and set fire to it. Give it to Goodwill? I think too much of those people to do that to them.

La-Z-Boy rude, arrogant people

Bought two la z boy recliners for over $2000. Called dealer when we realized the chair leaned to the right, within a week of original delivery. Dealer jerked us around for several months and finally picked up the chair and sent it to manufacturer. Manufacturer sent chair back with their position that chair is fine and they consider the matter closed. they said any problem must be the result of my sitting in it wrong. Chair still leans to the right and always has. The chair is supposed to have a, Lifetime Warranty". What a joke and what rude arrogant people at both the manufacturer and the dealer level.

Sounds pretty much like my experience with La-Z-Boy in the Phoenix area when I went to the repair shop looking for replacement parts for my mother's chair (a leather power recliner/massager). They told me they don't manufacture parts any more for discontinued items. When I asked if there are any other places to get parts that would be compatible with my mother's chair (which cost $1500 new), I was told by the customer service manager to go look around in thrift shops! When I told him this was neither acceptable nor practical, not to mention downright rude, he told me basically I was SOL and that I should "just get over it!"

On the subject of "lifetime warranties", needless to say, there really is no lifetime warranty as was initially represented when we purchased the chair five years ago. Seems only the frame and fabric are warrantied.

My mother is a handicapped senior citizen living on a fixed income. We are not related to the Rockefellers and cannot afford to purchase new furniture every five years. But of course, La-Z-Boy refuses to acknowledge any of this and doesn't give a hoot about their customers.

Judging from all the complaints about La-Z-Boy that I've read on-line, it's a fair assumption that they don't do much repeat business, given their unfair practices.

The next chair we buy will most definitely *not* be a La-Z-Boy!

La-Z-Boy better think twice

Please be careful when purchasing La-Z-Boy products as certain replacement parts have become impossible to come by. Unless you are adept at electrical and and mechanical repairs, I would not recommend these products.

In 2004, we purchased a power recliner/massage chair for my mother, a 92 year old disabled woman, who needed the chair for therapeutic reasons. We paid $1, 500 for the chair which had been working fine up until a few weeks ago, when the remote went out. When we called La-Z-Boy in Phoenix, we were told they were no longer manufacturing chair parts, as this particular chair had been discontinued some time after we purchased it. By a stroke of luck, one of the Cust. Svc. reps managed to find a hand wand in the shop and sold it to me for $120. At first, it worked fine, but then a week later, the massage feature wasn't working properly. It would only stay on for a minute or so, and then stop. The massage feature is designed to stay on for 30 minutes. The representative I spoke to said the problem was probably due to another mechanical part and not the new hand wand we had just purchased, and that they were not able to get any parts at all! Even if he sent a repairman out, they would not be able to get any parts for this chair. The customer service reps I spoke to acted like we were basically SOL and should just get over it. Needless to say, this didn't sit too well with me.

Since then, I have spent hours searching the Net in vain looking for aftermarket parts for this product and haven't come up with anything for this model. I've even contacted the La-Z-Boy manufacturer in Michigan and was told they no longer have suppliers for these parts. It seems each part is made by a different company; in our case, InSeat Solutions, LLC and Okin, whom I have also contacted. They were both unable to recommend a substitute manufacturer, and for some unexplained reason, neither company is doing business any longer with La-Z Boy.

My mother has become very fond of her chair and would love to continue using it. It's a shame that a mega-corporation like La-Z-Boy doesn't take better care of its customers.

I have also spoken to independent furniture repair shops who are absolutely incredulous that La-Z-Boy is no longer able to get parts for their customers. No one knows what to make of this.

La-Z-Boy should either come up with the parts we need to repair the chair or else replace it with a new one. But they refuse to do anything for us.

La-Z-Boy Quality/warranty

Don't let their "Made in America and their Warranty" fool you.
Here's my story...and as I post this - I've written a letter to Mr. Kurt L. Darrow, CEO - to request a wavier for the $79.99 fee.

Their warranty DOES NOT include labor after 1 year. It would be different if their furniture was QUALITY -but it's NOT. Our old living room suite purchased 18 years prior to this one - lasted the FULL 18 years without a service call and it was purchased from Montgomery Wards! Too bad they're no longer in business.

November 10, 2007 - Purchased/Ordered Lazy Boy rocker/recliner, Chair and a half, and sofa with two recliners on each end. Down payment: $850.00

January 7, 2008 11:55 called to check status of order and delivery. Spoke with Kaye Bryant; gave credit card number to her so she could charge it and have furniture delivered. Credit card charged $2, 343.08. Total cost of furniture (taxes & delivery): $3, 193.08
All items delivered on January 11, 2008, noticed a flaw on chaise recliner delivery person noted on delivery ticket. We were told to call and have a service call placed so a technician can fix it.

January 18, 2008 1:00pm called and spoke with Lori – Calling to place a trouble call for the flaw on rear corner of chaise recliner (010-553) (as noted on delivery ticket). Lori took down all information and input name, telephone number and address. 1:10pm called the store spoke with Kaye “service person will call us.”

January 24, 2008 Technician came out and repaired flaw: “installed new tack strip” on back of chaise recliner. Time in: 12:50 Time out: 1:10

May 16, 2008 – Reclining chair (410-553) stuck in up position.

May 19, 2008 – Called for service request – spoke with Stephanie. She will email me a questionnaire within 10 days and they’ll contact us. Copy of sales receipts and guardsman contract. Sent all this information to them (along with pictures).

May 28, 2008 – Called for follow up on reclining chair service call – Robert stated that protection plan covers fabric only – that I would have to contact the store directly since this is a mechanical issue. When I had called and spoke with Stephanie - explained exactly what the problem was, she didn’t tell me that I’d called the wrong place for a mechanical issue. Robert suggested I call the store we purchased the furniture from M-F 10:00am

May 28, 2008 – Amanda stated the technician will contact me Tuesday June 3rd.
Technician called – set up a time/date for repair – repair was done, but I do not have a copy of the repair ticket. Reclining chair is fixed.

May ?, 2009 placed a call to the store for repair of our cushions on the sofa (430-553). Set up a date/time for a technician to come out and repair. Technician will be on site May 28th.

May 22, 2009 – Received credit card receipt for $79.99 where Lazy Boy charged the credit card for their service tech, Chris, being in the house for less than 10 minutes, taking a picture of the sofa, and telling us “there’s nothing he can do.” Merchant ID: [protected].

May 28, 2009 – technician, Chris, on site – cannot repair cushions …..He stated, “All I can do is take pictures make note of what I see and send all the information to headquarters”…. Told me to call back at the end of June. Technician was on site less than 10 minutes.

June 23, 2009 (3:40pm) – Sofa recliner (on left side) stuck in up position. Called; (on hold for 15 minutes), spoke with Holly – she said they would order the part and have it sent FEDEX here to our house. According to Holly the part “Should take about 3 weeks to arrive, maybe less”. Once the part is received, we call them back, and set up a time/date for technician to come out and repair. Additionally Holly stated this would be at no cost to us. Since I had Holly on the phone I ask her about the cushions from the previous trouble call. She said she sees in the computer where it was sent to headquarters but nothing more – she said she would call me back the following day (June 24, 2009).

June 24, 2009. No phone call from Holly.

June 25, 2009 – Called to follow up again (on hold for 15 minutes) – spoke with Pam this time – told her I’d spoken with Holly – and she said she’d call me back – but didn’t. So I am trying to find out from someone the status of our trouble call on the cushions. Pam began to tell me all the information I already knew - that my information was with headquarters. I ask her if there was a time frame that I would expect to hear from them, she repeated what I already knew as well as what she’d just said, as though I didn’t hear her the first time: “it’s with headquarters.” I told her I would like to know what’s going on, she said she’d pass my information to her manager. I ask for her manager’s name and she said Evelyn Roads at extension 902893. She transferred me (on hold for 5 minutes) and I left a message for Ms. Roads that I would appreciate her calling me back in reference to the cushions on the sofa.

June 26 – 29, 2009 – No phone call from Ms. Roads….. or any other Lazy Boy representative.

June 29, 2009 Copied this entire log and am going to send it to headquarters via their web site. Hopefully someone there will return my call and notify me what’s going on with the cushions on the sofa. Inquiry number on Lazy Boy web site when I emailed them this entire history: 304551. Sent at 9:28 June 29, 2009.

July 7, 2009 12:10pm – Brenda Washington calls requesting me to call her back. She left a message – we were not home at the time of the call. [protected] ext. 890287. Plan to call her back Monday July 13, 2009.

July 13, 2009 – 8:58am Called Brenda Washington – left message.

July 13, 2009 – 9:35am Emailed entire history again to Lazy Boy 305835

July 13, 2009 – 10:10am – Brenda Washington called back and said that headquarters said that they would order the cushions at no charge to us. However, we would have to pay for the LABOR of installing the cushions – labor cost is $79.99 per hour and she’s uncertain how long it would take to replace the cushions. We will have to pay an additional $79.99 even though when Chris came, he didn’t repair/replace the cushions, all he done was take pictures. She hasn’t ordered the cushions yet – because she wanted to talk to me before ordering them. She put me on hold to see if it’s a “shop job” – she returned to the phone and stated that the job can be done in our home. She said the cushions should be shipped to our house and once we receive the cushions we are to call them and the technician will schedule the reinstall. Brenda stated is should not take more than 1 hour to replace the cushions. I also ask her if she could let me know about the status for the mechanism for the sofa – she ask when the part was placed on order, and I told her Holly ordered it (OR said she ordered it) on June 23, 2009. She placed me on hold (still on hold 10:19am). Phone was disconnected.

July 13, 2009 – 10:20am – Called back – Brenda said that her “parts person is checking the status with the plant”. She stated that there was a back order on the parts – and that we “should have the part” within the NEXT 3 weeks! (Reminds me what Holly told me).

July 21, 2009 (4:30pm) – Received via FEDEX, the two cushions for the sofa. Both boxes looked as though they’d been through a tornado……. There was clear tape barely holding the boxes together. I took pictures for future reference – but did NOT open the boxes. The FEDEX delivery guy said, “These boxes are packed very lightly”…. I said, “Yeah, I can see that”….. The boxes were basically falling apart. I do NOT plan to call Lazy Boy until we receive the other part for our sofa. This is the same mechanical part that has now “supposedly” been on order since Holly told me she would place it on order June 23, 2009. The same mechanical part that Brenda Washington told me was “on order” July 13, 2009.

July 27, 2009 (4:20pm) – Received via FEDEX the mechanical part for the sofa. I will call Lazy Boy tomorrow and attempt to set up a day/time for install of mechanical part and cushions.

July 28, 2009 (12:00 noon) – I called Lazy Boy Service to set up a service call. I notified them that all parts have been received for the sofa, cushions and mechanical parts. (Which remain in their original shipping boxes, unopened). I spoke with Gwen. She stated that she can have a service tech out here Friday or Saturday, I told her Friday would be best. She said there would be no charge for the installation of the parts. Additionally, she stated someone would call me Thursday July 30, 2009 to confirm a time frame window when the service tech would be here.

July 30, 2009 (2:05pm) – Automatic service call from Lazy Boy – [protected] to confirm that the service tech would be here tomorrow between 8:00am and 12:00noon. “To confirm press 1” …… I pressed 1 and now await the service tech tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the last time we have to contact Lazy Boy for the American Made product.

July 31, 2009 (9:5am) – Service Tech, Chris in the house started working on replacing the cushions and mechanical parts.

July 31, 2009 (10:05am) – Service Tech, Chris completed job.

August 1, 2009 (3:30pm) – Received call from Lazy Boy – they did not leave a message. Caller ID: [protected]

August 2, 2009 (11:52) – Writing a letter to include the entire history of this furniture purchase. Sending letter to the CEO, Mr. Kurt Darrow.

La-Z-Boy wrong shiipping order

I had bad experience with La Z boy Sugarland. I bought 3 items (2 reclyner + 1 sofa) from the la Z boy store sugarland (w/ sales name: steve) to ship to Indonesia last year. When they're arrived, I found that 1 (one) of item, reclyner was changed with another series without any confirmation or permission from me (CD871372 to C845168), moreover I'd paid with different prices on my order. I am still questioning, is this the way they sale their stuff to people or customers, especially when the customers are coming from outside country? or is this only just one of million "thing " that might happened due to "something" else...I don't know... Hope, they will have the solution for this problems...

La-Z-Boy - customers

I have shopped at many LA-Z-BOY stores in Long Island, New York. I don't understand why people are complaining about not getting their way after a warranty expires. Warranties cannot last forever and nothing can last forever. I had my La-z-boy recliner and sofas for seven years and it still looks brand new. I have purchased bedroom furniture from Macy'...

La-Z-Boy - don't stand behind warranties lazy on customer service and quality

I purchased a La-Z-y Boy Spa from Costco Canada. What a nightmare. Costco has been great though they are standing behind the warranty that came with the hot tub to pick up the lack of customer service lazy boy and tatum provide. Meantime La-Z-y boy and Tatum Manufacturing who both manufactured the tubs are leaving there customers high and dry. La-Z-y Boy...

La-Z-Boy purchase/order/still waiting 3 months for delivery of furniture!

We ordered and paid for 2 recliners on 01/16/2009. On 4/10/2009 we are still waiting for delivery, and don't have a clue when or if that is ever going to happen. We were told 6-8 weeks for delivery. It has now been 12 weeks. Now all the stores in WA are closed, we are told, until April 15th when they are supposedly reopening for a "Big Sale". In the mean time, we can not contact Lazyboy Furniture Gallery by phone, and no one will acknowledge us when we go the store. The Lazyboy Company will not help out at all claiming no association with the Lazyboy Furniture Galleries, other than being a supplier to these supposedly privately owned stores that carry their name. Terrible customer service! They took our money and right now I don't feel to hopeful about seeing the chairs we purchased anytime soon or even at all. I'm left wondering if they are closed preparing for a going out of business sale, or from bankruptsy, or who knows what? They certainly are not forthright with finding out or resolving the issue of our missing paid for furniture! One can only guess why they can't make good on delivering the chairs we purchased! Phone calls go unreturned, or as the case is right now, the store staff is totally unreachable! Perhaps my credit card company trying to resolve the issue or obtain a charge back and credit to my account will get their attention!

I purchased a lazboy recliner from Hornes' Furniture located in Stedman N.C. around Nov. 2006 and one of the arms on it is broken and the leather is torn on the arm I like to know if there is any thing that I can do to have it replaced or fixed. The warranty should not be over. Thank you.

La-Z-Boy bad service

I bought a living room set from rooms today about a year ago. I was asked if I wanted to insure my furniture if anything like stains, cuts, tears, rips things of this nature. I asked I have 2 dogs does it cover anything they do to it. The sales lady said yes anything. So I got the insurance, If it didn't cover that I didn't want the insurance. Well, My dog ripped my couch all up and i call and it's not covered under the insurance, so now I have a couch I can't use and no one wants or cares to do anything about it. I went ot rooms today and talked to the person that sold me the furniture she was like oh well. It was bad enough I had to go to the store 3 times to get all the paper work signed and filled out, because the cashiers weren't smart enough to have it all together to get it done. They didn't even have the order sheet for it to be pulled when I came to pick it up. I day I went to pick it up no one knew where the paper work was for my furniture I had to came back hours later to pick it up. When the someone who processed my purchase came to work that day. I will never go to rooms today to buy anything ever again.

La-Z-Boy wrong fabric poor quality

Ordered a $2, 000 piece of furniture from La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries in Wilkes-Barre, PA. It arrived about 6 weeks later with fabric that I specifically said I would never have in my home. It was that microfiber type fabric that shows marks all over it. I am a neat freak and could not handle having this type of fabic. Also, the quality was extremely poor. I immediately called the company and was given the run around and treated terribly. I finally spoke to the owner who was extremely rude and uncooperative until he realized I would not back down, not for $2, 000 in this economy! He then asked us to go see if there was anything else in the store we wanted. We did, but there was not. I told him I was extremely concerned about having furniture in my home that did not belong to me and I did not want anything to happen to it while in my possession so I wanted it removed as soon as possible. He told me to call the store and talk to Debbie, Donna or Kathy because my salesman, Lee was not in that day. I called and spoke to Marie and Debbie. Neither one ever bothered to call me back. I had to call the owner again and express my concern over having furniture in my house that wasn't mine. He said he would not pick it up unless I signed a paper agreeing to store credit. I told him we saw nothing else and after the poor quality of furniture we received, the horrible way we were treated that we just wanted a refund and be done with it. Now, keep in mind there is nothing on our paperwork from them that says you must take store credit or anything like that. Also, there is nothing posted in their store saying that either. I would definately think twice before buying from La-Z-Boy. I am reading a lot of horror stores about people getting ripped off and having difficulty with their customer service, etc, but I refuse to back down.

La-Z-Boy poor fabric

The fabric on my lazy boy is pilling. I was told by their customer service that this is 'normal' and they would not take care of any servcie. I can not believe that a $650 chair is fine to pill! Their warranty is absurd! I can't believe that in these economic times, the level of service is so POOR!
Someone should review LazyBoy complaints and start a boycott!

We bought a sofa set in 2006 for about $5000. The fabric is pilling and Lazy Boy has said that this is normal and not fixable (even though we purchased an additional warrantee). We have treated the set very well and took care of it as directed. The saleswoman indicated that this was the strongest material that they sold (go figure).

Buyer beware (do not get the additional coverage).

La-Z-Boy scam

LazyBoy Chair and a half.

This is not worth the wood and staples it is made with. It is hard to recline and not comfortable.

The support board broke in the back after several months and the repair man told me this is problem with the chair and the fact that it is made cheaply.

The frame now is starting to twist and I am waiting for the back to completely break off.

I thought Lazy Boy was a Quality product and at $850 would stand the test of time but I dont see this chair lasting even a year.

La-Z-Boy bad service

About 4 weeks ago I purchased a La-Z-Boy home theater set from the clearance department of my local furniture store. I now need a replacement motor for the power recliner and the store told me that since it was purchased on clearance that La-Z-Boy would not honor the manufacturer's warranty even though I was the orginal purcahser. I called La-Z-Boy and got the same story from them. I do remember seeing that items are "as is", but I don't recall seeing anywhere on my recipt nor posted in the clearance department that the manufacturer would not stand behind their product if you had problems later. I have never experienced customer service like this before. Is this an industry standard for furniture manufacturers? I can only hope they get to make the same discovery when they buy their new car at the end of year clearance sale from the car dealership. "I'm sorry your transmission went out on your 1 month old car. Oh wait, you bought that on clearance so we didn't sell it to you with a manufacturer's warranty. Sorry, but at least you got a great price on the car. Would you like to consider trading that in on new model?"

La-Z-Boy fraud and cheating

I have two leather sofas - one started to lose its color on one of the arms and the seat of one cushion within 3 months. We had it replaced after being told that this situation was very unusual. They also came out, looked at it, and pronounced that yes, it would be covered under the warranty. We felt fortunate that since we did not buy the extended warranty, that the 'problem' had been taken care of in time. Nope. One month after the warranty expires, the furniture starts to lose color on the back, the arms, the seats; and they will not do a thing. $75 just to look at one piece of furniture. Totally disappointed since I had always thought Lazy Boy would stand behind their work. I should have checked for complaints first. Beware buyers.

La-Z-Boy sectional sofas coming unseen

I bought a Devon Lazyboy sectional and within two years the back cushions that only have single stitches on the seams, came unseen. This sofa is upstairs, and is not used daily. I have a clayton marcus that is over 10 years old, and used daily and is in better condition. I am terrible dissatisfied with the quality, and will not own another lazyboy product.
