Dear [Management Name/Customer Relations],
I am writing to formally address several critical issues regarding the purchase and installation of my new home from the Liberty store. As a veteran and a first-time homeowner, I worked closely with my sales representative, Mike, to ensure this process would be financially manageable. Unfortunately, due to a series of miscommunications and installation errors, I am now being billed for a home that is currently uninhabitable in the state of Texas.
First, there is a significant discrepancy regarding my loan activation. Mike explicitly informed me that my loan payments would not begin until 60 days after I received my keys. However, I discovered that the loan was activated upon delivery of the home. This premature activation has removed the financial buffer I relied on to handle any unforeseen costs.
Furthermore, there is a major issue with the electrical installation overseen by Billy from LBY Construction. While my contract states that I am entitled to a 200-amp service up to 50 feet from my home, the meter pole was installed only 5 feet from the structure. CenterPoint has informed me that this location is incorrect. Despite the contract terms, I am now being asked to pay an additional $4,000 to move the pole to the correct location.
I paid $18,000 to Clayton Homes to cover delivery, septic, AC, and power installation. It is distressing that after following every instruction and asking the necessary questions, I am being held responsible for an installation error that should have been identified and communicated by the construction manager prior to signing a contract.
Because the power cannot be connected, I am now expected to pay a mortgage on a home I cannot live in, and I will not have the funds to rectify this mistake until next year. I am requesting that Clayton Homes takes responsibility for the incorrect placement of the meter pole and covers the $4,000 cost to move it to the proper location, as per the 50-foot allowance in my contract.
I look forward to your prompt response and a resolution to this matter.
Sincerely,
Anna Riojas
