Capella University review: Horrible finacial aid department ( 1 comment)

I am a 70-year-old educator who enrolled at Capella in 2005. Moving through the course work appeared to go fairly well. I took the exam prior to moving towards my dissertation process with no problem. It was when I got to the dissertation process that problems began. The person assigned to me kept giving me the run around and nothing presented appeared to be right. I attended all of the institutes and followed all the suggestions, but he continuously returned items with little or no feedback. He then began to send me information about getting an outside company to work with me. This went on and on and lasted for years. Finally, I was contacted by someone at Capella. They inquired if I had been asked to go to an outside agency. I told them yes. I was then given an advisor that helped me do in a few months what this gentleman dragged on for years and a lot of funding. My student loans grew out of site. Now as I said I am 70 years old 43 years in education and retired with over a quarter of a million in debt. I did not complete my PhD until 2015 after being contacted about the time lining running out. It was amazing how things moved along then. I strongly feel the outstanding debt of student loans is inflated because of the misguidance and fraud with the previous advisor. It resulted in the University collecting an enormous amount of funding through my student loan program. The advisor also had his wife on my dissertation team as I recall.
