Hi I had purchased 12 bags of Temptations and had placed 8 bags of Temptations in my grocery bag which was opened so that the cashier could see the contents. I had wanted to get her to punch in the quantity of the bags which was 3 bags of 4 kinds of Temptations without having to scan each and every bag as I had other items that needed to be scan. The reason was I was trying to shorten my time spent in the store therefore I went through a cashier instead of the self check machines. At the self check machines every item needed to be scanned and at time the machine will always prompt an attendant to override items.
Anyhow as I was bending down to get the other items from the grocery basket, she asked whether I had a receipt for the bags of Temptations in the grocery bag. I told her that I had one bag each and she just had to scan once and multiply the quantity on her cash register. She said no every item needs to be scanned because they needed to keep track on quantity. I told her that the other cashiers used to do this for me and she said that they were wrong. Anyhow I had to empty my grocery bag into the grocery basket, bend down and hand each and every single bag of Temptations for her to scan. If I had to do this I might have as well gone and do it at the self check machines. I am 63 years old, bending and straightening up is not I repeat not exercise but torture.
Just because I am not White does not mean I am stealing because that is the impression that the cashier gave me. She could have easily told me to lift my grocery bag and counted all the Temptations if she thought that I was going to cheat her by misleading her on the number of bags.
I have worked as a Cashier before and that it not the way to explain to a customer that she was trying to keep check on inventory. I had done inventory checking before too. She looks new to the front end but this is the first time I have been disrespected at Canadian Tire especially in a town like Yarmouth where I live and work in.
With this kind of attitude I will definitely take my business elsewhere. I can get all my hardware needs and pet supplies from other retailers.
Desired outcome: An apology would be nice and better training and a sense of respect at the front line.
