Textbook buyback
Do NOT use this company! They are a scam. I sent four books to them earlier this month and they claimed that one was counterfeit. When they claim it is counterfeit, they won’t even send it back to you. They use this as an excuse to keep the book without paying you for it. They also downgraded the price on another one by claiming it was not in condition a...

Sent them a book they said he would buy. The book was in very good to excellent condition. They say the book did not meet their standards. There were no bent pages or corners. It was like new. To get my book returned, I have to pay them. If I do not get my book back, they get a free book and will sell it to another customer. We are just giving them books and they make all the profit. DO NOT DEAL with this company.
Claimed loss: $10.16, what I was offered for the book
Desired outcome: Send me a check or return my book.

Books Run
RE ORDER #3901682
I sent a book to Books Run. Had other buyback options for essentially this same price but thought I’d try them. They initially quoted a buyback price of $31.05. Then I received notice of a price adjustment down to $12.42 claiming book submitted was in “a poor condition.” A picture showing minor damage (two small spots at base of book) accompanied my notice of price adjustment. First, book was in fine condition and second, I maintain it was not damaged when sent. There is the option of refusing the reduced price but under that option, the shipping cost to return book to me is deducted. Who knows what these scammers would charge for that.
I have sold books back to multiple services. I only sell back books that are in fine/excellent condition. I have NEVER had a “price adjustment.” This service is a total “bait and switch” scam.
Claimed loss: Initial quote offered of 32.88 - revised offer of 14.25 = $18.63 loss
Desired outcome: I would like full payment for my book…so a refund of the $18.63 they scammed from me.

BooksRun
This company is a scam! They steal your books and claim that they are “counterfeit”. Then refuse to return them. Or they will quote one price for the book, then make up some arbitrary reason to pay less money than what they quoted. The company has no customer service telephone number and the emails go unanswered. I was cheated out of almost $55 for a brand new textbook that I have the original receipt for!
Desired outcome: I would like MY book or the money they quoted me.

The same thing is happening to me right now!
Rental book
I placed an order for a rental 9/7/23 and realized I put an email that doesn’t exist (I have a multiple emails and meshed them in my head together) completely my mistake. But I’ve sent over 3 emails at this point and no one contacts me back. I tried they’re live chat and ultimately it’s gives me their email and their phone number so of course I tried calling and seems like there’s no actual associate there at all, so it just cuts the call on me. I’m in college and I’m in a rush to get that textbook rental, I have no information on tracking because of the wrong email. I have no order number or confirmation of any sort. Payment went through and everything.
Desired outcome: Would like someone to contact me if possible and simply add the correct email to my order so I can see the confirmation and tracking info.

BooksRun Ebook rental
August 17 I ordered "Pearson eText Physics for Scientist and Engineers: A Strategic Approach with Modern Physics -- Instant Access (Pearson+)". My order number was #3994658. However, when trying to access my ebook, I found that it was only the singular title page. Now, I would have happily just refunded the ebook in my alloted 14 days, but when I go to do so, my account claims that I have not made any orders despite me receiving an email receipt for $47.78.
I would like to assume I'm missing a step, and this isn't blatant false advertising, but I've tried downloading the app and viewing it there, but yeah, it's just 1 page.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response and a refund for my order.
I apologize. While the access code was very hard to find, I do indeed have my textbook. For anyone else with this issue, it's under "resources" and then "access codes" in the VitalSource Account Center.
No measures were needed. There was no issue, I was just confused.
Disappointing Experience with BooksRun: Downgraded Ratings and Deceptive Practices
I am very disappointed with BooksRun. I sent them a bunch of books that were in great condition, except for some highlighting on a few pages. I marked them as acceptable, but when they received my books, they downgraded the ratings without any explanation. Four of my books were marked down from acceptable to "poor condition" and one book's price was reduced from 34 cents to 14 cents. The other prices were all cut in half at least. I was very upset with this, as I had taken great care of my books and they were in like-new condition, except for the highlighting.
I was given the option to either accept their adjustments or pay over $20 to have my books shipped back to me. I felt like I had no choice but to accept their adjustments, as I didn't want to pay that much money to have my books returned. I have no doubt that they will turn around and list the books in "good" condition, which is very dishonest and deceptive.
I understand that BooksRun needs to make a profit, but this is not the way to do it. They should be honest with their customers and not rip them off. I would rather donate my books than support a company that treats its customers this way. I hope that BooksRun will change their ways and start treating their customers with more respect and honesty.
Beware of Selling Your Books to BooksRun: A Shady Experience
I gotta say, I don't know much about BooksRun when it comes to buying books, but I reckon they're alright in that department. However, if you're thinking of selling your books to them, I'd advise you to think twice and sell to another company instead. Just like many other folks who've left reviews, I was given a quote for my books, but when it came time to actually sell them, I was offered a lot less. And get this, one of my books was in tip-top shape with no scribbles, no dog-ears, no nothin', but they had the nerve to say it had water damage. The other book had some highlighting, so I marked it as "acceptable," but even then, I still got way less than what I was quoted.
Now, if you don't accept their new offer, they'll supposedly send your books back, but you gotta pay for the shipping. And let me tell you, their customer service is a complete joke. I mean, it's like they don't even care about their customers. If you're thinking of selling your books, do yourself a favor and check out the Better Business Bureau ratings for BooksRun. Trust me, after reading a few complaints, you'll see just how shady this company can be.
But hey, if you're looking for a good company to sell your books to, I'd recommend checking out sellbackyourBook.com. I sold a book to them at the same time as I sold to BooksRun, and I got my full quote with no issues. So, there you have it, folks. My two cents on BooksRun.
Disappointed with BooksRun's Lack of Communication and "Collection" Practices
So, I rented a textbook from BooksRun and it was a used book. I sent it back after I was done with it and thought everything was good. But, almost six months later, I was charged the full price of the book. I was confused because I thought I returned it. Apparently, they decided they never received it after all. They didn't even notify me that they didn't get the book and had to "collect" it.
It's frustrating because they waited five months to charge the credit card they had on file. They could have done it at any time. But, instead, they decided to do "collections" without even telling me they never got the book. Now, I have to waste time looking for a receipt from five months ago instead of one from two weeks ago.
It seems like they just want to make a profit off of a used textbook that is about to go out of edition. They get the rental fee, the price of the book, and their "collection" fee. I don't understand why it's called "collection" when they're just charging the credit card they have on file.
Overall, I'm disappointed with my experience with BooksRun. It's frustrating to be charged for something I thought I returned. I hope they can improve their communication with customers in the future.
Terrible Website with No Customer Service: A Disaster You Should Avoid
This website is just terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. They don't have much in the way of customer service - just a fake chat that doesn't really help, no phone number to call, and they don't respond to emails. I ordered a book on a Friday night and paid extra for 2-day shipping. They took my order and sent me a receipt that said the book wouldn't arrive for 2 days. I needed the book for a class, so I tried to cancel the order right away. But there was no way to do it on the website. I tried the chatbot, but it didn't work. I sent several emails asking them to cancel the order, but they never responded. Then I got an email saying the book was shipping! I emailed them again, begging them not to ship it, but they did anyway. Finally, I got an email saying I could return the book, but I had to pay for shipping and they would only give me 80% of my money back. No way! Don't waste your time or money on this website. It's a total disaster.
Beware of this company: They cheat people and sell books for less than agreed upon!
This company is not good. I sent in a book that was in very good condition, but they said it wasn't and lowered the amount they were going to pay me. I went to their website to say no to the new price, but they accepted it anyway. My order was put on hold, so I went to their chat, but it was no help. I sent an email and called them, and a representative said they would send the book back to me and I would get an email confirmation. But I never got the email. I sent another email and called again. The second representative said they would send it to another department and I would get an email that day. But I never got the email. Later, they told me they already sold my book and sent me a check for less than what we agreed on. This is not okay. They are trying to cheat people. Don't sell your books to this company. I think they are criminals.
BooksRun Review: Dishonest and Fraudulent Company Preying on College Students
BooksRun is a website that allows people to sell their used books based on the condition of the book. However, I had a terrible experience with this company. I sent them a book that was in perfectly fine condition, with no highlighting or ripped pages, and only a couple of scuffs on the front cover. But when they received the book, they claimed that it had "heavy damage" and slashed the price quote they had offered me.
I was extremely disappointed with their dishonesty and lack of transparency. They didn't even pay for the shipping to return the book to me, leaving me with no choice but to accept their low offer. It was a frustrating experience, and I felt like I had been scammed by this company.
I would not recommend BooksRun to anyone. They are a fraudulent company that preys on college students who are trying to make some extra money by selling their used books. It's a shame that they are taking advantage of people in this way. I would have been better off giving my books away for free to a local library than dealing with this company.
In conclusion, if you're thinking about selling your used books, I would advise you to stay away from BooksRun. They are not a trustworthy company and will only cause you frustration and disappointment. Don't become a victim of their scheme and don't enable them to make any more money.
Frustrating Experience with BooksRun Customer Service and Shipping
I had a bit of a rough experience with BooksRun. I tried to get an updated tracking number for my order, but it took me four calls during business hours to finally reach someone. I was on hold for over an hour and a half on chat, but never got through to anyone. Eventually, I had to call one last time and finally reached someone who could help me. The whole process took two hours, which was frustrating since all I needed was an updated tracking number.
To make matters worse, while I was on hold, the automated message kept telling me that someone would be with me in three minutes and that I was first in the queue. I also sent two emails prior to calling, but never received a response. Needless to say, I wouldn't use BooksRun again.
It's been almost a week since I placed my order and I still haven't received my books. The estimated delivery date is tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm disappointed that I'll be receiving my books late, but what's even more frustrating is that they didn't even give me an updated tracking number. The one they sent me was a reused one, and they just sent me a link to view it on their page. According to the link, my books are still in the pre-transit process with no estimated ETA.
Overall, my experience with BooksRun was less than ideal. While I appreciate that they eventually helped me with my tracking number, the whole process was a headache. I hope they can improve their customer service in the future.
Disappointing Experience with BooksRun: Fake Book Rejection and High Shipping Costs
I recently sent BooksRun three books, hoping to make a little extra cash. Unfortunately, they deemed all three to be fake or counterfeit books. I was disappointed, but I understand that they have to protect their business. What I didn't understand was why they charged me nearly $20 to get the books back. The total weight of the books was only around 3 lbs, so I was surprised by the high cost.
When the books finally arrived back at my doorstep, I was even more disappointed. They had been sent back via media mail, which only costs $4, and they were packaged in a thin, sticky envelope. To make matters worse, the covers of the books were bent up and they were not in the same condition as when I sent them. It was clear that they had been mishandled during the shipping process.
I tried to contact BooksRun via phone, but I had a difficult time getting through to anyone. When I finally did get through, the person who answered had a heavy foreign accent and was difficult to understand. She said she was transferring me to someone else, but the call was disconnected before I could speak to anyone else. When I called back, the phone went straight to voicemail. It seemed like they were using a VOIP phone, which made it even more difficult to get in touch with them.
Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with BooksRun. I felt like I was baited into sending them the books because they paid for the shipping, but once they deemed the books fake, I had to pay for the shipping both ways, plus a little something extra for their trouble. It didn't seem like a fair business practice to me. If you're thinking about using BooksRun, I would recommend being cautious and doing your research first.
Mixed Experience with BooksRun: Decent Option for Selling Textbooks, But Be Prepared to Haggle
I gotta say, my experience with BooksRun was a bit of a mixed bag. I mean, I sold two textbooks to them and it took forever for me to get my check. And when I finally did, they marked the price down to 8 bucks because of some wear and tear. I didn't agree with that, but I needed the cash so I just let it go.
Later on, I decided to sell another book with them. This one was practically brand new - I only used it for half a semester and kept it in its packaging most of the time. I was really careful with it, you know? So imagine my surprise when BooksRun marked it down to 17 dollars because of "heavy wear". I mean, come on! There was nothing there! They even charged me 9 bucks to send it back if I didn't accept the new offer.
But you know what? Despite all that, I still think BooksRun is a decent option for selling textbooks. I mean, yeah, they might try to lowball you a bit, but that's just business, right? And at least they offer free shipping and a pretty easy-to-use website. Plus, they have a pretty good selection of books to buy, too. So overall, I'd say give BooksRun a shot - just be prepared to haggle a bit.
Mixed Experience Selling Textbooks with BooksRun: Weird Pricing Decisions and Long Wait for Payment
I used BooksRun to sell some textbooks and I gotta say, it was a bit of a mixed experience. I sold two books that were worth 25 bucks together, but it took them a long time to send me my check. And when I finally got it, they marked the price down to 8 dollars because they said the books had heavy wear and water damage. I didn't really agree with that, but I didn't have a lot of other options so I just went with it.
Later on in the semester, I decided to sell another book with BooksRun. This one was practically brand new - I had only used it for half the semester because it arrived late. I kept it in its packaging most of the time so I could get a good resell value. I was hoping to get a decent amount of cashback for it, since I had paid 120 bucks for it originally. But after two months, BooksRun marked it down to 17 dollars because of "heavy wear". I was pretty confused, because there was literally nothing wrong with it. I mean, I didn't even carry it in my backpack so it wouldn't get creased!
Anyway, I was pretty annoyed that they marked it down so much, especially since I had taken such good care of it. And to make matters worse, they charged me 9 bucks to have it sent back to me if I rejected the new offer. Ugh. Overall, I guess I would say that BooksRun is okay if you don't have any other options, but be prepared for some weird pricing decisions.
BooksRun Review: Lack of Communication and Risky Experience
I gotta say, I had a bit of a rough experience with BooksRun. I mean, I know I messed up with the ISBN and all, but the lack of communication was just plain ridiculous. Apparently, my Web Assign access code was actually supposed to be a book, but instead of letting me know, they just went ahead and claimed that my product was delivered, processed, and paid for. And get this - they only bothered to tell me about it on a Friday, right before they closed for the weekend. Talk about leaving a guy hanging!
So, I had to wait until Monday to get in touch with them, and when I did, they told me that they never actually received the item that I had sent in (which, okay, was my bad for mixing up the ISBNs). But here's the thing - their own tracker said that it had been delivered, processed, and paid for! And now they're telling me that they can't return anything to me at all. I mean, come on - all they had to do was shoot me an email and let me know that the ISBN was wrong. Instead, it feels like they just straight-up took my brand-new, unopened access code. Not cool, man.
Look, if you're thinking about using BooksRun to sell your books or access codes, I'd definitely recommend doing your research and checking out some other options first. There's a lot of risk involved here, and it's just not worth it in my opinion.

Customer service
I am email a service rep to help me figure out how to get a return label to return my book. We have been email over multiple weeks and still has not helped me get a return label. Now I am being charged for over due and saying that I can only return the book for 80% money back. So I ask how to get the return label still and they still aren’t answering that question.
Desired outcome: I want a return label so I can send back the book and a refund on late charge and the charge of the price of the book that I have been forced to buy
payment not received
I sold books to them and they were received on 5/18/2023. I chatted on Wednesday and was told my payment would be sent to my PayPal either that day or on Thursday. Never received it. So, I chatted again on Thursday, and was told that I would receive the payment either later that day or on Friday. I only received a payment from books I sold AFTER the first delivery. I received payment for order # 3569690, those books were delivered to them on 05/22/2023. The book I have NOT received payment on is order # 3558470, which they received on 05/18/23. I attempted to chat again today, my estimated wait time was 2 minutes, I have sat on hold for over an hour.
Desired outcome: I want my payment for my books.
Holding my book hostage
I sent them a college book that I was to sell to them that was in excellent condition and average price was about $40-$70 online. They claim it is worth $1. They uploaded a photo of one sticker from the bookstore at Montana State where I bought it, on the BACK of a hardcover book. They want me to pay them to mail it back to me or they'll destroy the book in 3 days if I don't accept the $1 offer- after I paid $9 already to mail the book to them! HOW SHADY OF A BUSINESS PRACTICE!
Desired outcome: I want them to either mail my book back to me at THEIR expense, or give me a FAIR MARKET VALUE.
