I received a promotion ad from BJ’s to apply for their credit card.
It was: “get approved for a BJ’s one Mastercard and get 50 cents off per gallon for 3 months at BJ’s gas”.
“Limited time offer, 7/21-8/3.”
I used the QR code on the promotion piece and was taken to a website where I could apply for the card. I did the application and received an email from them dated 7/31 stating that I was approved for the card.
When I used the card at BJ’s gas pumps I did not receive the promised discount. I did however get the 10 cent discount that the card usually offers.
I emailed customer service to complain and ran into the usual customer service tap dance. I even mailed them copies of the promotion material and a copy of the confirmation of approval.
There were a couple of different answers. One was that my membership enrollment date was 8/4, just one day after the promotion expired. The promotion said to get approved in the offer date period, not get a membership enrollment date. By their own admission, I was approved within the promotion’s time frame.
Another answer said something about not qualifying for the cocard in time. There was nothing about a cocard in the promotion.
All in all I have come to the conclusion that these people cannot be trusted. Be careful when dealing with these people.
Unless this is resolved in accordance with the terms of the promotion I will be putting the card away and start checking out Sam’s Club.
Desired outcome: Honor the promotion
