Barrhead Travel Service wedding issue in mexico

We are currently in Dreams Riviera Maya spa hotel in Mexico. Departed on 23rd Sep due to return on the 7th Oct
Monday 25th Sep we met with our wedding coordinator who is asking for a coupon as proof of payment for the ultimate package wedding. It is not on our intinary and have been told no proof no wedding.
We have contacted Ayr branch and wedding manager on site. Both have informed us that all agencies are communicating to resolve this. However it is now Wed 27th we still do not have proof of payment this is not resolved. This should not take days we have paid so we want our proof. We have wedding guests with us.

Barrhead Travel Service poor service

I am hoping that someone can get back to me with regards my complaint.
I Stephen Drummond and my partner Marcelle Chartier decided back in February of this year to drop into your branch in East Kilbride Kingsgate branch. On arrival we were met with a sales member Elaine Monteith we sat and chatted about a summer holiday which we settled on Cuba we also as usual on these long haul flights upgraded to premium and were given a date to book our seats, Elaine sold the holiday well and also said how she was the top sales person and had been on numerous trips due to her sales technique all good and well also the holiday turned out to be a great holiday.
After signing up and paying the deposit we got talking about a winter cruise and again Elaine sold us on a cruise to the Caribbean leaving on the 12th of December again we decided as usual to upgrade to premium and paid the deposit.
This is now where we feel we have been le t down by both Barrhead travel and mostly Elaine, firstly we had not had any notification as to when we should pay the final deposit and it was only that both myself and my partner were discussing this over the weekend that we realised it was due to have been paid on the 12th of September having noticed this I dropped into the branch yesterday to settle the balance unfortunately the machines were down and we had to do this over the phone so the holiday has now been paid.
Our biggest complaints are the next 2 issues I am about to bring up, firstly as previously stated we always upgrade to premium on long haul flights for comfort and also so we can sit with each other and chat about our holiday, we were informed by Elaine that we could pre-book our seats from the 20th of September only to find out that the date had been changed to an earlier time slot back in May speaking with Elaine yesterday she stated that there was no way of getting in touch with ourselves to inform us of this which I feel is unsatisfactory as we had left phone numbers as well as email addresses. As a result we have been left having to sit on a row for 3 people both ways which is not what we would usually do as we say it is why we upgrade to allow us to sit in a 2 seated row and as such has spoiled our holiday for us both before we even fly.
The next mess we have discovered is that we booked the cruise to the Caribbean to take in a couple of islands that we have not visited Cayman Islands & Barbados, due to the above mess we decided to call your company to clarify where our destinations actually were only to be told that Barbados is not on the list and that we are actually going to Mexico where we have visited on numerous occasions.
To say we are disappointed in both your member of staff and your company in an understatement we now feel we are going on a holiday that is not what we agreed to and upgraded to something i.e premium flights that we would not have done if we knew that we would be sitting with someone else.
I have tried to download onto your system the written confirmation that Elaine wrote on the back of an envelope but unfortunately it won't allow it due to the format however you should require this I can send it in an email to yourselves by email.

Barrhead Travel Service never got what we paid for

Dream Holiday Trip To Florida 2017 May 15TH
Nature of this complaint stems from the very Minute we made the booking and to give you an Idea of what has gone on I will break it down in to sections for you for you so this will be against Barrhead Travel as we paid them in Good faith for the Holiday with Thomson's
1 22nd January enter Barrhead Travel premises at Braehead and we were seen by Staff Member Craig who insists that he could beat the previous offers from Thomas Cook and Thomson's, But as his Florida experts are not in yet could we give him 24 hours to see what he could do so My Wife and I said yes as we have previously travelled with Barrhead before to Florida.
2 23rd January I was working in Newcastle and My Wife was saying she is going to Braehead tonight have you heard anything from Craig at Barrhead yet or will I just book with Thomson's I said no not heard anything yet I will be phoning at 16.00 after my course has finished 16.00 came phones in to and got Chloe and she says that Craig is on his day off, At this point I was furious as Craig had said give me 24 hours and I will get back to you but he is not in or even bothered to give our query to anyone else to sort out a price for us, When speaking to Chloe she said give me half an Hour and I will get back to you see what I can do. At 18.30 with the Wife still saying can she get an answer on who we were to book with Barrhead or Thomson's for our dream holiday as she was in Braehead I phoned Chloe and she said she could beat the other travel agents price I was just tell my wife to come in to her and she will sort it out for me as we spoke I clearly said what we were looking for and Chloe replied yes I said great and phoned my Wife and told her to go into Barrhead and book the holiday My wife stated is it
Orlando Villa plus 3 bedrooms with Games room SUV car with full insurance and extra legroom seats on the Dreamliner Flight for 3150 I confirmed yes after speaking with Chloe earlier in the call so Holiday booked we are on our way..
3 24th February My Uncle and myself go and pay the rest of the Holiday to Florida in Barrhead on a very busy Friday night and during the week I had a nasty accident At work I was in a terrible amount of pain we waited about an hour to pay so as you could imagine could not wait to get the Holiday paid and get home so met Chloe and she took the rest of the holiday payment including park tickets so big relief holiday payed and now could relax.
4 25th February Saturday morning I was sitting and going through the paperwork that we received from Barrhead and something came up the invoice said Orlando Value villa plus and the extra legroom was not on the booking I immediately phoned in to Barrhead Travel and got Chloe I asked her if this holiday I booked had a games room she said I think so and asked about the extra legroom. I will check out the villa for you she said and then I explained what we had been looking for again Chloe then said that is not what I booked for you I said I would beat Thomson's price but I managed to do that with a different Villa I repeated that was not what I asked for she then said I will phone Thomson's and get back to you she got back about two hours later saying Thomson customer service was shocking and apologised for the delay confirmed that this was not the Villa we had asked for. I asked to speak to a MANAGER and was told no one was in until the Monday so they would get back to me then.
5 1ST March Wednesday I waited until 18.00 then Phoned in to Barrhead Travel as no one had got back to me and after speaking to two staff members eventually managed to get Chloe and She confirmed that the manager was looking into this but was busy with another customer at the time of my call but she did confirm that because my Wife had signed for the holiday there was little she could do so I told her I would be in to see her when I was back in Glasgow.
6 3rd March Friday night at 19.00 I went down to the Store and managed to finally speak to a manager called Lesley Anne very nice Lady and she explained that she was trying different avenues to help us out including asking Thomson's to put a games room in the Villa that we had booked but it does take time and would I give her until Wednesday of next week to get back to me.
7 8th March Wednesday night 19.30 and no phone call I called Barrhead Travel and could not get Lesley Anne or Chloe as both were off and not back in until Friday I asked if there were any update on my complaint and was told no so you can imagine my frustration as my dream holiday was becoming a nightmare so decided when I am back on Friday I will go in again.
810th March Friday evening comes and I head to Barrhead Travel could tell straight away that Lesley Anne was glad to see me her Face dropped she did apologise saying she has tried every angle but could not do anything for us and that the villa we went for in the first place is now away or she would have upgraded us to keep us happy but she cannot upgrade us to the five bedroom as it is too much.

9 10th March I went away very frustrated and angry at myself for not fully looking at the booking that Chloe had made and to be honest the invoice is shocking but when I spoke to Family members they all said “did you say on the phone that you asked for the Villa with games room” I said yes well go back in and fight for your Villa and after speaking to Thomson's as well the advice was get back into that store so went back in and after discussing the issue with Lesley Anne again she did not realise that there were phone calls made between myself and Chloe to confirm the holiday she said this would be very helpful and to give her a couple of hours to listen to the calls and she would get back to me.

10 11th March Saturday morning no response from Lesley Anne was about to go for something to eat and got a Strange call from a staff member from Barrhead to say that there was a post it note on the computer to phone you and to let you know we will get back to you on Monday, I asked did It say anything on the account she said no so at this point my opinion of Barrhead Travels customer service is dropping by the minute.

11 13th March Monday comes and after a hard day at work guess what no phone call again from Barrhead I phone in and was told that Lesley Anne was off until Thursday I was furious and I vented my frustrations at the manager Kirsty Louise who said she would look in to it for me and get back to me in due course,

12 15th March Wednesday night at 17.20 I receive a voicemail from Kirsty Louise at Barrhead saying she is only in to 17.30 then off until Friday so will not be pick this back up with me until she returns I was furious 10 minutes to phone someone back is not acceptable in any case after phoning in and was told she was away and that there was no Manger in the store.

13 16th March I phone in on the Thursday and got to speak to Lesley Anne she says sorry for not getting back to me sooner she confirms that I do say on the phone call “ is this the Villa with the games room” but Staff member Chloe ignores me and talks over me saying what she has on her screen so it is a muddled up phone call Lesley Anne says I say there was about 6 calls that night to Barrhead but she said I only needed to listen to one I said but you will hear me say is it the villa with the games room but only the confirmation call had been listened to, Lesley Anne apologises says she will have to have words with Chloe but as a goodwill gesture she would offer me 400 pounds back towards the holiday but it was too much to upgrade to the Villa we wanted and to be honest not worth paying extra as no one has ever heard of a bad villa in Florida, if I wanted I could cancel the holiday but go and talk it over with your wife and then get back to Lesley and if I was not taking the offer I needed to email her with the rejection of the offer, After talking to my Family we wanted the Games room as my leg would still be sore on the holiday and would give me the chance to recuperate at the villa and would also give my family something to do at night.

14 17th March I phone in to let Barrhead know that we would not take be taking the offer and got Kirsty Louise another manager who was very sympathetic and did not want our dream holiday to be soured by this I asked to cancel the holiday as I had found another with Thomas Cook she said if we pay the 1000 pounds would you pay the 500 pounds to upgrade to the holiday that we wanted in the first place she would be willing to do this for us but do not pay it tonight as she needed to confirm this with Thomson's I said okay, Kirsty says I know you are teaching tomorrow so I will send you a text let you know everything is okay.

15 18th March No texts at all and with my wife texting me throughout the day asking has Kirsty text yet I said no I then phoned in at 17.40 to find out that Kirsty was away for the evening and off until Wednesday so I explained to the girl and she was very confused but came back saying eventually that she thought everything was okay I said thank you, I then phoned Thomson's myself with my booking ref to find out that it had went through okay and It did glad but did not receive a text from Kirsty at all.

16 19th March Receive a text from Kirsty Louise at 18.00 saying everything went through which I knew anyway.

17 21th March I was going to leave this at Branch level but after speaking to several people and taking advice it has become apparent that I did not get any discount off this holiday whatsoever and it cost me 500 pounds more to get the holiday that I wanted and throughout this ordeal the customer service has been shocking to say the least,

18 21st March response from Kirsty Louise at 16.56 Good afternoon Mr Toland I hope that this email finds you well? I have tried to call you regarding your complaint letter that you had sent into our customer services team today, however I have had no luck in reaching you. I am finishing at 1730 today and then off on holiday for 2 weeks, and I would like to speak with you before I finish up. Would it be possible for you to call me on [protected]. Again not much time for me to reply for someone who finishes up for 2 weeks.

19 23nd March Good morning Mr Toland, I called your mobile earlier to discuss this issue with you although it was your messaging service. I am on [protected] from 9-5PM.

20 4th April Email sent to Barrhead Good Morning I am very disappointed in your company even more now I have been waiting on a reply from a Mr Shaw for over a week and a half now To let you understand we had a conversation on Friday the 24th of March where Mr Shaw had said about the complaint below I will go and talk to my directors who are on the way back up from London so I will not be able to speak to the until Monday or Tuesday but I will get back to you as I hate when people say they will phone back but never do I do hope nothing bad has happened to MR Shaw but can someone please get back on this matter before I take it further

21 4th April Email from Barrhead Good morning Mr Toland, Thanks for your email.
I called your mobile but it was your answer phone so left a message. My director has agreed to refund a further £250 (as we spoke about ) to resolve this issue and hopefully retain you as a valued client. I finish today for a holiday so if you call me with your card details I will get the money processed before I go.

22 5th April Refund in account so complaint finished got a five Bedroom Villa in Florida and extra legroom.

Onto The Holiday

1 15th May arrive at customs Sanford airport we got the wrong staff member he seemed to be in a mood and said to us that the Esta Address you used was not a real address and do we know where we are staying I said no that is what the travel company had given us and a lot of discussing and after showing him my airport security badge through my company DHL we were allowed entry but in future he says make sure you have the right address or you will not get in to America

2 15th May Arrival in to Sanford Airport up to this point still had no idea where we were to go and get the villa keys etc...As Craig from Barrhead said just go to the Thomson's Stand when you get there they will help you out with the villa when we got there did not know that TUI was Thomson and went looking about for a while before we seen a member of staff to ask and then she directed us to TUI .
Got to the stand and the TUI staff member said thought you had missed the flight and gave us the info for the villa I seen that it said Davenport and asked why we were told an address in Kissimmee for the Esta and all through the booking we thought it would be there we would be staying as we had stayed there before and knew the area well... She said that is where we had been given.

After upgrading the Car we were on our way after four hours we arrived at the secured entry to our estate and after 40 minutes of trying the code one of the neighbours had seen us and came to the rescue and let us in said the gates were still causing issues as the estate was only open a year got to the villa and was very surprised to see 6 bedroom not what we asked for as it was very late we decided not to go in the pool as we could not see what was around outside so unpacked went for messages at the local Publix 13 miles away very local.

3 16th May Woke up around 6 am went down and what a view looked out to a swamp out the back no wall or fence between us got something to eat and then went outside to sort out the sun loungers and move the pool hose out which was still in the pool. After moving the sun loungers I noticed a red and black Snake trying to climb the mesh that was securing us from outside and nearly ran screaming but when I turned round the pool man was there saying I will get that must have got in last night so Pool man took around 45 minutes to usher the snake out and as he got the snake out he asked did my son want to hold the snake I said you have spent forty minutes ushering it out why would you say that, he replied I don't mind them but thought your son would want to hold one.

Snake out time for him to clean the pool as we were talking he asked did you come from England I said no Scotland I love Scotland and says the snake was not a venomous one but the one in here yesterday was a big black one was a beauty, I said were was the snake found he said in the pool clearly startled by this then tells us that this is their swamp please do not feed the Alligators as they will associate you with food And keep coming back I said do you have them a lot around here he said yes two doors up the gators go under her tree away from the sun.

We set off for TUI to pay the 500 pounds deposit which we were told by Barrhead we would not have to pay as we would struggle to have money for the holiday so managed to pay the 500 pounds deposit and 50 for the cleaning bill and to see what we could do about the villa when we got there I explained what had happened and was told that they could not do anything As they had no Villas left in fact your Villa Mr Toland Had to be acquired by us from a third party as we did not have a suitable villa left,

I said what do you mean was told that due to us booking so late and that Thomson's had no Villa s left for us they had to go to a another company to Acquire a villa So I asked if they could look in to moving us as we did not feel comfortable in that area and it was miles out in the middle of nowhere at Davenport City Limits,

Was told they would look but could not promise anything, Gators were part of Florida life and that we were living in their swamp by the TUI representative who told that they have 2 gators out back in their swamp and long as you stay away we would be fine.

At this point family decided that we were not going to get any help from the staff so went in to Kissimmee. Also told the rep about the gates and that you could not open the patio doors as the alarm kept going off was told it was law in Florida up until few years ago so if we wanted just take the battery out I said no then you charge us for breaking it,

Seen on the garage wall that Tuesday night please leave the bins out for refuse collection and as the bins were full put them out

4 17th May on our return from Universal which was well over 2 hours away around 31 miles which is not a short distance from the parks as the brochure says still struggling to get in through the gates with the code,

I went to take the bins in and found them still to be full I looked around and seen that a few of the neighbours bins were still out then one of the neighbours came across and welcomed us in to the neighbourhood, Says bin days have changed now a Thursday Cool I said that we have just rented this villa for two weeks neighbour says sorry we had seen the u haul men here a week ago and thought that this was your stuff they had put in the Garage as they were putting the pool table and football table and the neighbour thought they were painting the garage but were actually chalking the walls with the pool chalk.

I found this alarming the lengths this company had gone to but after talking to Lesley Anne at Barrhead earlier on in the complaint she said she would look at maybe asking Thomson's to put a games room in for us after talking direct to Thomson's they said they would never do this and that Barrhead were telling lies.

The neighbour said that they were sorry to see Marsha go nice neighbours they were at first thought just being nice and friendly then started saying hope that does not mean this will be turned in to a tourist estate last thing I want.

5 18th May Arrive home from Disney which was 29.8 miles away from the villa I know they said within 30 miles but thought this was a bit much to be honest gates were open as they had broken down was very tired so looking forward to pool time and the games room in the pool until it got dark as there was only one light and not very bright and as there was no outside wall did not feel safe into the Games room noticed that there were 5 cues but only two had tips so told the family look we need to really watch what we are doing as there are only two cues not saying we would have broken them but not much option if a tip came off got a few games in then on to the football table after scoring my son tried to get the ball back out but we could not the ball back was actually too small and when you scored it was stuck inside the table so gave up on that.

Uncle had bought a few DVDs in Wal-Mart went to play them but no DVD player in the villa so watched the TV instead as I looked at the brochure again says that there will be a games console could not find one in the villa.

Sent a Email to TUI which was on the instructions we had and got a reply saying could I come in as they wanted to talk to me the following morning.

I thought maybe they had found somewhere for us.

6 19th May at around 10.00 after fighting our way through the traffic got to the TUI Office got a welcome can you come in to the back room as it was busy family stayed in the car firstly apologises for the pool man and about the bins and about the snakes etc but they had nothing for us and if they did we would have to pay anyway.

I addressed my concerns to them she said not a lot we can do just go and enjoy your holiday I said why did you bring me down here I just wanted to reassure you she said I said why did you not come to the villa to see my concerns she said that was not necessary I asked about the games console she asked her colleague to go and look in the brochure and agreed we should have had one but as it was not one of their villas she could only apologise and try to get me one as soon as she could but in the meantime gives me a Disney frozen pencil set for a 12 year old to colour in lol what planet is she from.

Get to the gates still not working another neighbour lets me in after telling her our address.

7 20th May Saturday Morning at half 7 in the morning man banging on the door with a play station 2 here is your console goodbye after fully wakening up I thought how rude he should have set this up as it is my holiday why should I but I set it up later on to find out that there was 2 games which one was supposed to Spiderman but was a music CD and the other was family games which included connect four but was a cd rom thought you know what I have had enough thought let us just enjoy the holiday and deal with this later..

All through the Holiday gates did not work so struggled to get in to the estate.

Most of the other Estates that we seen throughout our holiday including Champions Gate had a wall all around the Estate where as our Estate did not as it was not finished so you put my family at unnecessary risk.

Level of Customer Service was appalling even if they thought I was moaning they should still not lose the level of Customer service,

The Villa is only a short drive from Walt Disney World, but Clermont, Davenport and Haines City could be a million miles away. All 3 are small, residential towns” and you are not kidding a four hour Journey every day to the parks and back sometimes longer is not acceptable whether there are roadwork's or not also take in consideration the additional cost of fuel etc...Your company had a obligation to tell your customers about the roadwork's in that area you did not update this on your brochure either that Orlando is having a Major 4 year roadwork overhaul of its highways which would mean delays to the times that you have quoted and not the short drive as it states in the brochure...
I know it also says that you would be within a 30 mile radius of the Magic Kingdom at Disney but to be 28.8 miles away is as close to the outskirts and the city limits as we could get Also states in the Brochure that these Villas come in a league of their own you would not expect to be so far away from everything in the middle of nowhere in a new estate with builders in and out at all times of the day and building new villas next door to us and all around the surrounding Area...And to look out over a swamp every morning thinking is there Alligators out there which yes there would be but also is there snakes anywhere in or outside the villa was quite concerning...
Villa was not what we asked for 5 bedroom villa with Thomson actually got a 6 Bedroom Villa from a third party company which was confirmed by Thomson's as they had no villas left,

DVD player for you to watch the latest movies no DVD player in the villa,

You can choose between gaming and relaxing if you book here. Every villa comes with a poolside whirlpool bath, or a games room with a console and either table football, a pool table, darts or air hockey We had no console for the first week as this was a vacant property so absolute minimum in this Villa only when I said to the rep she managed to get one to us but it did not have a working game so my son could not play as we were so far away in the middle of nowhere this would have made his night and mine easier as he likes to play video games.

I know the TUI Representative said these Animals are common but I have never experienced this in my journeys to Florida and after talking to a number of friends family members and colleague's at work doesn't seem that common and my wife posted on her face book page just to see who else or anyone else had encountered snakes or Alligators on their holidays to Florida the answer was a resounding no and Google does not have much on this unless being at Gatorland counts..

I know the TUI rep says its Florida there is so much to do and not worry about the Villa but we had payed for the villa so yes the villa does count and not to mention the additional time and cost that was encountered after being so far Away and the delays on the highways...
The Villa Management Company was called Columbus rental homes I have the invoice to prove this and it states on their own website that all there villas are less than 30 minutes away from Disney Magic Kingdom and we payed them the insurance on their villa for any breakages etc so are they telling lies too because our villa was nowhere near that time.

I could go on but to be honest the Holiday was a complete Nightmare from start to finish we did the best we could but to find a snake the first day then be told it was smaller than the one we found yesterday and then bringing the gators in who are just two villas away would freak anyone out,
Also filled up the fuel tank 6 times during my stay which I thought was wrong as we were so far away meant we had additional mileage somewhere.
I would like to take this complaint further with Barrhead travel as this was the company I payed to go on vacation with even though the tour operator was TUI/Thomson

I find it strange that when the mix up occurred Thomson had only one 5 bedroom Villa Available which meant there was a 1500 pounds upgrade due to the occupancy charge so how can you book a Villa which was not available as the TUI agent said in Sanford that there was no 5 bedroom villas left we should have been informed that they had no Villas left before we arrived..

We feel aggrieved that we did not get what we paid for and the lack of information is below what we would expect from such a major company .

Thank you for your response if this had been one or two things then yes you get on with it but it felt like a total nightmare from start to finish...

I know it was Thomson who gave us the Villa when we got there but after all the trouble we had before when you and Kirsty Louise had to sort it out and yes I do appreciate that as I have said in the emails a few times now that you are a credit to your company...but if this was sorted sooner all this might not have happened if Lesley Anne had listened in the first place about the Phone Calls...

Then we are thinking great we are on our way to a dream Holiday which Sadly it was not...as Mentioned before and every time I go over it I get angry with myself for not standing in the TUI office and not budging until they found us somewhere else...

When Speaking with Cit Adv and Thomson’s it became apparent that if building works etc was going on in the estate or in the Vicinity then we had to be notified which Cleary we were not told as they did not have a Villa for us and rented this from a rival company as these Villas come with little extras it says in the brochure, That does not mean being exactly 30 miles away from Disney either just means you are in the vicinity of Disney...

Worryingly when the responses came from Thomson about their staff reassuring my Family that we would not be in any danger when this was Cleary not a Thomson Villa is more alarming how can someone tell you that you will be okay when the Complex is only a year old no wall around it and snakes and Gators being sighted at all times of the day and night also as this is not a Thomson Villa how would they know that we were not in any danger a quite ridiculous statement from several staff members,

I paid for a 5 bedroom Villa with Games room and we never got that as Thomson said they had no Villas left and went and acquired one for us turned out to be a 6 bedroom Villa with a Games kit put in the garage

A games room means a room you can play in which from Thomson reply yes it looks like we got two out of the four but as they did not check that the two were working correctly then this is a very cheeky statement the ball for the fuse ball table was too small not the right size to use ...Chalking the wall to make it seem that this Games room was in there for a while was ridiculous as you did not know that the neighbour would tell me that you had put it in 2 weeks earlier so to me you did not have a villa with games room for us so you tried to make one up and failed..

You will have the pleasure of watching DVDs or playing games on your console throughout your Holiday which we proved we did not have at all on Holiday as no DVD Player in the Villa and when the console eventually turned up it did not have a working game Spiderman was a cd rom and Family Games was a music cd... Brilliant

This has left a massive scar on me and my family to how abrupt and cheeky this company have been and Iain as you are always straight with me I want to take this further as I will not let this go...
They put my family in jeopardy and in real Danger by shoving us in a swamp in the middle of nowhere and also this was not the villa we paid for...

As said yourselves and Thomson should have notified us about the Building works going on around the Villa which you did not...

We would like to thank Barrhead for their offer but this is not acceptable we paid a extra 1500 pounds to secure this Holiday after the initial Mix Up and we did not get the Holiday we should Have got

We have already contacted a regional Newspaper and they are interested in finding out more and pursing this story as this is not the usual Holiday complaint it is different...

We are considering going down the social media route to alert others about this and work colleagues as we feel they have a right to know when booking through yourselves and Thomson’s that this can happen.

Also we are a bit upset that Thomson’s have went down the route of using our experience to help others in the future that does not help us in any way shape or form from the ordeal that we went through.

Barrhead Travel Service not what we paid for

Dream Holiday Trip To Florida 2017 May 15TH
Nature of this complaint stems from the very Minute we made the booking and to give you an Idea of what has gone on I will break it down in to sections for you for you so this will be against Barrhead Travel as we paid them in Good faith for the Holiday with Thomson’s
1 22nd January enter Barrhead Travel premises at Braehead and we were seen by Staff Member Craig who insists that he could beat the previous offers from Thomas Cook and Thomson’s, But as his Florida experts are not in yet could we give him 24 hours to see what he could do so My Wife and I said yes as we have previously travelled with Barrhead before to Florida.
2 23rd January I was working in Newcastle and My Wife was saying she is going to Braehead tonight have you heard anything from Craig at Barrhead yet or will I just book with Thomson’s I said no not heard anything yet I will be phoning at 16.00 after my course has finished 16.00 came phones in to and got Chloe and she says that Craig is on his day off, At this point I was furious as Craig had said give me 24 hours and I will get back to you but he is not in or even bothered to give our query to anyone else to sort out a price for us, When speaking to Chloe she said give me half an Hour and I will get back to you see what I can do. At 18.30 with the Wife still saying can she get an answer on who we were to book with Barrhead or Thomson’s for our dream holiday as she was in Braehead I phoned Chloe and she said she could beat the other travel agents price I was just tell my wife to come in to her and she will sort it out for me as we spoke I clearly said what we were looking for and Chloe replied yes I said great and phoned my Wife and told her to go into Barrhead and book the holiday My wife stated is it
Orlando Villa plus 3 bedrooms with Games room SUV car with full insurance and extra legroom seats on the Dreamliner Flight for 3150 I confirmed yes after speaking with Chloe earlier in the call so Holiday booked we are on our way..
3 24th February My Uncle and myself go and pay the rest of the Holiday to Florida in Barrhead on a very busy Friday night and during the week I had a nasty accident At work I was in a terrible amount of pain we waited about an hour to pay so as you could imagine could not wait to get the Holiday paid and get home so met Chloe and she took the rest of the holiday payment including park tickets so big relief holiday payed and now could relax.
4 25th February Saturday morning I was sitting and going through the paperwork that we received from Barrhead and something came up the invoice said Orlando Value villa plus and the extra legroom was not on the booking I immediately phoned in to Barrhead Travel and got Chloe I asked her if this holiday I booked had a games room she said I think so and asked about the extra legroom. I will check out the villa for you she said and then I explained what we had been looking for again Chloe then said that is not what I booked for you I said I would beat Thomson’s price but I managed to do that with a different Villa I repeated that was not what I asked for she then said I will phone Thomson’s and get back to you she got back about two hours later saying Thomson customer service was shocking and apologised for the delay confirmed that this was not the Villa we had asked for. I asked to speak to a MANAGER and was told no one was in until the Monday so they would get back to me then.
5 1ST March Wednesday I waited until 18.00 then Phoned in to Barrhead Travel as no one had got back to me and after speaking to two staff members eventually managed to get Chloe and She confirmed that the manager was looking into this but was busy with another customer at the time of my call but she did confirm that because my Wife had signed for the holiday there was little she could do so I told her I would be in to see her when I was back in Glasgow.
6 3rd March Friday night at 19.00 I went down to the Store and managed to finally speak to a manager called Lesley Anne very nice Lady and she explained that she was trying different avenues to help us out including asking Thomson’s to put a games room in the Villa that we had booked but it does take time and would I give her until Wednesday of next week to get back to me.
7 8th March Wednesday night 19.30 and no phone call I called Barrhead Travel and could not get Lesley Anne or Chloe as both were off and not back in until Friday I asked if there were any update on my complaint and was told no so you can imagine my frustration as my dream holiday was becoming a nightmare so decided when I am back on Friday I will go in again.
810th March Friday evening comes and I head to Barrhead Travel could tell straight away that Lesley Anne was glad to see me her Face dropped she did apologise saying she has tried every angle but could not do anything for us and that the villa we went for in the first place is now away or she would have upgraded us to keep us happy but she cannot upgrade us to the five bedroom as it is too much.

9 10th March I went away very frustrated and angry at myself for not fully looking at the booking that Chloe had made and to be honest the invoice is shocking but when I spoke to Family members they all said “did you say on the phone that you asked for the Villa with games room” I said yes well go back in and fight for your Villa and after speaking to Thomson’s as well the advice was get back into that store so went back in and after discussing the issue with Lesley Anne again she did not realise that there were phone calls made between myself and Chloe to confirm the holiday she said this would be very helpful and to give her a couple of hours to listen to the calls and she would get back to me.

10 11th March Saturday morning no response from Lesley Anne was about to go for something to eat and got a Strange call from a staff member from Barrhead to say that there was a post it note on the computer to phone you and to let you know we will get back to you on Monday, I asked did It say anything on the account she said no so at this point my opinion of Barrhead Travels customer service is dropping by the minute.

11 13th March Monday comes and after a hard day at work guess what no phone call again from Barrhead I phone in and was told that Lesley Anne was off until Thursday I was furious and I vented my frustrations at the manager Kirsty Louise who said she would look in to it for me and get back to me in due course,

12 15th March Wednesday night at 17.20 I receive a voicemail from Kirsty Louise at Barrhead saying she is only in to 17.30 then off until Friday so will not be pick this back up with me until she returns I was furious 10 minutes to phone someone back is not acceptable in any case after phoning in and was told she was away and that there was no Manger in the store.

13 16th March I phone in on the Thursday and got to speak to Lesley Anne she says sorry for not getting back to me sooner she confirms that I do say on the phone call “ is this the Villa with the games room” but Staff member Chloe ignores me and talks over me saying what she has on her screen so it is a muddled up phone call Lesley Anne says I say there was about 6 calls that night to Barrhead but she said I only needed to listen to one I said but you will hear me say is it the villa with the games room but only the confirmation call had been listened to, Lesley Anne apologises says she will have to have words with Chloe but as a goodwill gesture she would offer me 400 pounds back towards the holiday but it was too much to upgrade to the Villa we wanted and to be honest not worth paying extra as no one has ever heard of a bad villa in Florida, if I wanted I could cancel the holiday but go and talk it over with your wife and then get back to Lesley and if I was not taking the offer I needed to email her with the rejection of the offer, After talking to my Family we wanted the Games room as my leg would still be sore on the holiday and would give me the chance to recuperate at the villa and would also give my family something to do at night.

14 17th March I phone in to let Barrhead know that we would not take be taking the offer and got Kirsty Louise another manager who was very sympathetic and did not want our dream holiday to be soured by this I asked to cancel the holiday as I had found another with Thomas Cook she said if we pay the 1000 pounds would you pay the 500 pounds to upgrade to the holiday that we wanted in the first place she would be willing to do this for us but do not pay it tonight as she needed to confirm this with Thomson’s I said okay, Kirsty says I know you are teaching tomorrow so I will send you a text let you know everything is okay.

15 18th March No texts at all and with my wife texting me throughout the day asking has Kirsty text yet I said no I then phoned in at 17.40 to find out that Kirsty was away for the evening and off until Wednesday so I explained to the girl and she was very confused but came back saying eventually that she thought everything was okay I said thank you, I then phoned Thomson’s myself with my booking ref to find out that it had went through okay and It did glad but did not receive a text from Kirsty at all.

16 19th March Receive a text from Kirsty Louise at 18.00 saying everything went through which I knew anyway.

17 21th March I was going to leave this at Branch level but after speaking to several people and taking advice it has become apparent that I did not get any discount off this holiday whatsoever and it cost me 500 pounds more to get the holiday that I wanted and throughout this ordeal the customer service has been shocking to say the least,

18 21st March response from Kirsty Louise at 16.56 Good afternoon Mr Toland I hope that this email finds you well? I have tried to call you regarding your complaint letter that you had sent into our customer services team today, however I have had no luck in reaching you. I am finishing at 1730 today and then off on holiday for 2 weeks, and I would like to speak with you before I finish up. Would it be possible for you to call me on [protected]. Again not much time for me to reply for someone who finishes up for 2 weeks.

20 4th April Email sent to Barrhead Good Morning I am very disappointed in your company even more now I have been waiting on a reply from a Mr Shaw for over a week and a half now To let you understand we had a conversation on Friday the 24th of March where Mr Shaw had said about the complaint below I will go and talk to my directors who are on the way back up from London so I will not be able to speak to the until Monday or Tuesday but I will get back to you as I hate when people say they will phone back but never do I do hope nothing bad has happened to MR Shaw but can someone please get back on this matter before I take it further

21 4th April Email from Barrhead Good morning Mr Toland, Thanks for your email.
I called your mobile but it was your answer phone so left a message. My director has agreed to refund a further £250 (as we spoke about ) to resolve this issue and hopefully retain you as a valued client. I finish today for a holiday so if you call me with your card details I will get the money processed before I go.

22 5th April Refund in account so complaint finished got a five Bedroom Villa in Florida and extra legroom.

Onto The Holiday

1 15th May arrive at customs Sanford airport we got the wrong staff member he seemed to be in a mood and said to us that the Esta Address you used was not a real address and do we know where we are staying I said no that is what the travel company had given us and a lot of discussing and after showing him my airport security badge through my company DHL we were allowed entry but in future he says make sure you have the right address or you will not get in to America

2 15th May Arrival in to Sanford Airport up to this point still had no idea where we were to go and get the villa keys etc...As Craig from Barrhead said just go to the Thomson’s Stand when you get there they will help you out with the villa when we got there did not know that TUI was Thomson and went looking about for a while before we seen a member of staff to ask and then she directed us to TUI .
Got to the stand and the TUI staff member said thought you had missed the flight and gave us the info for the villa I seen that it said Davenport and asked why we were told an address in Kissimmee for the Esta and all through the booking we thought it would be there we would be staying as we had stayed there before and knew the area well... She said that is where we had been given.

After upgrading the Car we were on our way after four hours we arrived at the secured entry to our estate and after 40 minutes of trying the code one of the neighbours had seen us and came to the rescue and let us in said the gates were still causing issues as the estate was only open a year got to the villa and was very surprised to see 6 bedroom not what we asked for as it was very late we decided not to go in the pool as we could not see what was around outside so unpacked went for messages at the local Publix 13 miles away very local.

3 16th May Woke up around 6 am went down and what a view looked out to a swamp out the back no wall or fence between us got something to eat and then went outside to sort out the sun loungers and move the pool hose out which was still in the pool. After moving the sun loungers I noticed a red and black Snake trying to climb the mesh that was securing us from outside and nearly ran screaming but when I turned round the pool man was there saying I will get that must have got in last night so Pool man took around 45 minutes to usher the snake out and as he got the snake out he asked did my son want to hold the snake I said you have spent forty minutes ushering it out why would you say that, he replied I don’t mind them but thought your son would want to hold one.

Snake out time for him to clean the pool as we were talking he asked did you come from England I said no Scotland I love Scotland and says the snake was not a venomous one but the one in here yesterday was a big black one was a beauty, I said were was the snake found he said in the pool clearly startled by this then tells us that this is their swamp please do not feed the Alligators as they will associate you with food And keep coming back I said do you have them a lot around here he said yes two doors up the gators go under her tree away from the sun.

We set off for TUI to pay the 500 pounds deposit which we were told by Barrhead we would not have to pay as we would struggle to have money for the holiday so managed to pay the 500 pounds deposit and 50 for the cleaning bill and to see what we could do about the villa when we got there I explained what had happened and was told that they could not do anything As they had no Villas left in fact your Villa Mr Toland Had to be acquired by us from a third party as we did not have a suitable villa left,

I said what do you mean was told that due to us booking so late and that Thomson’s had no Villa s left for us they had to go to a another company to Acquire a villa So I asked if they could look in to moving us as we did not feel comfortable in that area and it was miles out in the middle of nowhere at Davenport City Limits,

Was told they would look but could not promise anything, Gators were part of Florida life and that we were living in their swamp by the TUI representative who told that they have 2 gators out back in their swamp and long as you stay away we would be fine.

At this point family decided that we were not going to get any help from the staff so went in to Kissimmee. Also told the rep about the gates and that you could not open the patio doors as the alarm kept going off was told it was law in Florida up until few years ago so if we wanted just take the battery out I said no then you charge us for breaking it,

Seen on the garage wall that Tuesday night please leave the bins out for refuse collection and as the bins were full put them out

4 17th May on our return from Universal which was well over 2 hours away around 31 miles which is not a short distance from the parks as the brochure says still struggling to get in through the gates with the code,

I went to take the bins in and found them still to be full I looked around and seen that a few of the neighbours bins were still out then one of the neighbours came across and welcomed us in to the neighbourhood, Says bin days have changed now a Thursday Cool I said that we have just rented this villa for two weeks neighbour says sorry we had seen the u haul men here a week ago and thought that this was your stuff they had put in the Garage as they were putting the pool table and football table and the neighbour thought they were painting the garage but were actually chalking the walls with the pool chalk.

I found this alarming the lengths this company had gone to but after talking to Lesley Anne at Barrhead earlier on in the complaint she said she would look at maybe asking Thomson’s to put a games room in for us after talking direct to Thomson’s they said they would never do this and that Barrhead were telling lies.

The neighbour said that they were sorry to see Marsha go nice neighbours they were at first thought just being nice and friendly then started saying hope that does not mean this will be turned in to a tourist estate last thing I want.

5 18th May Arrive home from Disney which was 29.8 miles away from the villa I know they said within 30 miles but thought this was a bit much to be honest gates were open as they had broken down was very tired so looking forward to pool time and the games room in the pool until it got dark as there was only one light and not very bright and as there was no outside wall did not feel safe into the Games room noticed that there were 5 cues but only two had tips so told the family look we need to really watch what we are doing as there are only two cues not saying we would have broken them but not much option if a tip came off got a few games in then on to the football table after scoring my son tried to get the ball back out but we could not the ball back was actually too small and when you scored it was stuck inside the table so gave up on that.

Uncle had bought a few DVDs in Wal-Mart went to play them but no DVD player in the villa so watched the TV instead as I looked at the brochure again says that there will be a games console could not find one in the villa.

Sent a Email to TUI which was on the instructions we had and got a reply saying could I come in as they wanted to talk to me the following morning.

I thought maybe they had found somewhere for us.

6 19th May at around 10.00 after fighting our way through the traffic got to the TUI Office got a welcome can you come in to the back room as it was busy family stayed in the car firstly apologises for the pool man and about the bins and about the snakes etc but they had nothing for us and if they did we would have to pay anyway.

I addressed my concerns to them she said not a lot we can do just go and enjoy your holiday I said why did you bring me down here I just wanted to reassure you she said I said why did you not come to the villa to see my concerns she said that was not necessary I asked about the games console she asked her colleague to go and look in the brochure and agreed we should have had one but as it was not one of their villas she could only apologise and try to get me one as soon as she could but in the meantime gives me a Disney frozen pencil set for a 12 year old to colour in lol what planet is she from.

Get to the gates still not working another neighbour lets me in after telling her our address.

7 20th May Saturday Morning at half 7 in the morning man banging on the door with a play station 2 here is your console goodbye after fully wakening up I thought how rude he should have set this up as it is my holiday why should I but I set it up later on to find out that there was 2 games which one was supposed to Spiderman but was a music CD and the other was family games which included connect four but was a cd rom thought you know what I have had enough thought let us just enjoy the holiday and deal with this later..

All through the Holiday gates did not work so struggled to get in to the estate.

Most of the other Estates that we seen throughout our holiday including Champions Gate had a wall all around the Estate where as our Estate did not as it was not finished so you put my family at unnecessary risk.

Level of Customer Service was appalling even if they thought I was moaning they should still not lose the level of Customer service,

The Villa is only a short drive from Walt Disney World, but Clermont, Davenport and Haines City could be a million miles away. All 3 are small, residential towns” and you are not kidding a four hour Journey every day to the parks and back sometimes longer is not acceptable whether there are roadwork’s or not also take in consideration the additional cost of fuel etc...Your company had a obligation to tell your customers about the roadwork’s in that area you did not update this on your brochure either that Orlando is having a Major 4 year roadwork overhaul of its highways which would mean delays to the times that you have quoted and not the short drive as it states in the brochure...
I know it also says that you would be within a 30 mile radius of the Magic Kingdom at Disney but to be 28.8 miles away is as close to the outskirts and the city limits as we could get Also states in the Brochure that these Villas come in a league of their own you would not expect to be so far away from everything in the middle of nowhere in a new estate with builders in and out at all times of the day and building new villas next door to us and all around the surrounding Area...And to look out over a swamp every morning thinking is there Alligators out there which yes there would be but also is there snakes anywhere in or outside the villa was quite concerning...
Villa was not what we asked for 5 bedroom villa with Thomson actually got a 6 Bedroom Villa from a third party company which was confirmed by Thomson’s as they had no villas left,

DVD player for you to watch the latest movies no DVD player in the villa,

You can choose between gaming and relaxing if you book here. Every villa comes with a poolside whirlpool bath, or a games room with a console and either table football, a pool table, darts or air hockey We had no console for the first week as this was a vacant property so absolute minimum in this Villa only when I said to the rep she managed to get one to us but it did not have a working game so my son could not play as we were so far away in the middle of nowhere this would have made his night and mine easier as he likes to play video games.

I know the TUI Representative said these Animals are common but I have never experienced this in my journeys to Florida and after talking to a number of friends family members and colleague’s at work doesn’t seem that common and my wife posted on her face book page just to see who else or anyone else had encountered snakes or Alligators on their holidays to Florida the answer was a resounding no and Google does not have much on this unless being at Gatorland counts..

I know the TUI rep says its Florida there is so much to do and not worry about the Villa but we had payed for the villa so yes the villa does count and not to mention the additional time and cost that was encountered after being so far Away and the delays on the highways...
The Villa Management Company was called Columbus rental homes I have the invoice to prove this and it states on their own website that all there villas are less than 30 minutes away from Disney Magic Kingdom and we payed them the insurance on their villa for any breakages etc so are they telling lies too because our villa was nowhere near that time.

I could go on but to be honest the Holiday was a complete Nightmare from start to finish we did the best we could but to find a snake the first day then be told it was smaller than the one we found yesterday and then bringing the gators in who are just two villas away would freak anyone out,
Also filled up the fuel tank 6 times during my stay which I thought was wrong as we were so far away meant we had additional mileage somewhere.
I would like to take this complaint further with Barrhead travel as this was the company I payed to go on vacation with even though the tour operator was TUI/Thomson.

I went to ABTA for advice because I did not know who to complain to about the issues we had on our holiday as we told you this was a dream Holiday that has turned sour after the rigmarole of being sold the wrong Villa in the first place then having to prove we were sold the wrong Villa with yourselves after that then we both paid a percentage to upgrade to the only Villa Thomson’s had left which was a 5 Bedroom Villa,

When We got there after the Incident with the snake and Pool man anyone in their right mind would have complained about that issue we went to pay the deposit for the Villa at the local office and the insurance only to find out that unfortunately TUI went and hired this Villa for us from a rental company due to them not having any Villas left which was a 6 Bedroom Villa that we did not ask for or pay for we paid for a 5 BEDROOM.

This Villa had nothing in it very very basic and no DVD No Games Console, and Games room only one working game that you could play,

As I said the Brochure says that these villas come with a little extra which we proved we did not HAVE OR GET a Working Games Console, DVD, Games Room which we did not have for the full duration of the holiday even after emailing and going back in to the local TUI Office,

As I have said thank you for the offer but that does not even cover the extra we paid to get this Villa that we should have had in the first place only for a staff member to make a mistake it does not cover the extra cost of having to come to your store on 5 different occasions to talk to the managers as you did not return my calls or your managers were on day offs etc and then phone calls that I had to make to get this sorted and one big thing my time that I had to give to get this resolved,

I have to say that the offer is unacceptable if you take in to account that we paid 250 to get the villa then all the petrol trips to Braehead to talk to the managers to sort this out all the phone calls that I had to make then due to the villa being booked so late that TUI rented a villa for us out in the middle of nowhere then comes the extra fuel to get to the parks as they had no Villas left we had extra fuel that I had to pay on Holiday due to being so far away from the parks the extra time on the road being as we were so far away,

Issues

I know you cannot guarantee safety but the incident with the snake and the pool man leaving the gate open could have could have led to someone getting bitten luckily nothing happened,

Villa being a 6 bedroom when we should have gotten a 5 Bedroom as TUI admitted they had none left so should not have taken my money or your money,

Games room/Console DVD not working,

Extra Fuel to your store and while on Holiday

My Time that I wasted before the Holiday and during

Extra 250 pounds paid to secure this villa

If you think that your offer is acceptable with all that has happened to my family then I am very disappointed by this and hope that you would reconsider your last offer as I am not looking for the world back just an acceptable sum for all the trouble that we went through I have not used any social media or talked to anyone about this so Barrhead Travels good name is still intact in my family friends and work colleagues and I would like to use Barrhead in the future for all my holidays including my wife’s 50th next year

I know some of the issues were not directly down to Barrhead but as we paid yourselves the full sum for the holiday then your company is the accountable one even though TUI let you down with the wrong villa etc...

I want to put a end to this as it has taken up so much of my time so please can we put an end to this look forward to hearing from you soon

Barrhead Travel Service hotel

Arrived 28th July to discover that the main pool at the hotel was closed and the surrounding area resembled a building site. The only pool available was the 'small pool' and this was seriously overcrowded and not able to provide the relaxing holiday which we booked. Having spoken with other uk holiday makers it has become apparent that they where all made aware of this prior to departure. In all cases they were offered compensation or alternative accommodation but we are very disappointed that Barrhead travel didn't make any contact with us to discuss the situation. As a returning customer we feel that the service provided by Barrhead travel is unacceptable and we have reservations about using your company again.

Barrhead Travel Service lost baggage

Hi I wrote to Thomas cook on the night of return from my holiday which is nearly 2 month a go and no reply I went in to Thomas cook and your shop with no help either it's very poor costumer service I'm writing to you as you said to put the complaint in with you's so I'm writing to let you no I've not heard a thing I'm not writing my complaint again I want to to get in contact with Thomas cook about my complaint to deal with it thank you Mrs Linda meechan

Barrhead Travel Service honeymoon to barbados

It's Paulina Siembor and Craig Smith here. We booked our honeymoon to Barbados from 14th May -24th May 2017 with your company at Hanover street Edinburgh with gentlemen name Douglas Hicks, our reference number is [protected].
We paid for 10 nights with sandals 6776.23£ and we had a lots of issues that ruined our honeymoon.
We have been promised that we gonna have a place booked in airport lounge at Gatwick since it's gonna be connected flight. When we got there we haven't been on the list which was very embarrassing and humiliating. When we called Barrhead travel office on Hanover street Edinburgh they said they never promised us anything like this. Also we got promised that the travel to Barbados will be easy and pleasant, and yet again on 8, 5hour flight we only got one meal with one drink which was served only one hour and half after the flight took off. We were absolutely starving, the service was awful and it was the same on our way back. Also we got told the building side next to our resort will be finished end of April/beginning of May, but when we got to Sandals hotel building work was still
going and we were waking up at 6am every morning because of the noise. Hotel was very basic, during the week there was hardly any entertainment, the food wasn't Michelin star as we got told and it wasn't 11 restaurants either as some of them were just cafe, or hot dog stand or fast food. For so many thousands of pounds that we have spent we feel like we got tricked to only spent money with Barrhead, and only got us disappointed with everything about our honeymoon so we couldn't enjoy it, our 10nights what should be the best times of our life was frustration going into anger and tears. We expect compensation for what we feel was deceived into parting with our money. Also we won't recommending Barrhead travel and Sandals to anybody, and make sure the people know how bad the companies are.

I booked a cruise me and my partner was great service booking as I paying money over After that service not helpful at all. Tickets sent as email to me. ! Unable to open email as I use I phone never booked on line why tickets e mailed ? When asked at braehead branch was dis missed told they request tickets never done it. I phone Stirling picked tickets the feeling of got your money and dont care now ! Feel very let down

Barrhead Travel Service connection from airport to cruise ship

This complaint is about our holiday last Sep 11th 2017. We booked our first cruise with Barrhead travel and we were really looking forward to it. The first thing I would like to state the cruise ship ncl epic. This cruise line was amazing couldn't fault it. Staff were so attentive food and entertainment faultless.
Our complaint is with the connection from Barcelona airport to the cruise ship and of leaving the cruise ship to the airport.
On arriving at the airport it was a bit ciaotic as the was a few delayed flights so everyone arrived at once so lots of back log.
After collecting our luggage and getting through the gates to our rep we were ushered to stand at a shop and wait for everybody to come through. This took about over an hour. We were hungry and tired as had been up really early for our flight. So standing waiting was frustrating. The guide did not even speak to us. He spoke to other reps and didn't really care. After our long wait we were shown to the bus. The bus driver wasn't the friendliest and didn't even help put luggage on the bus. There was quite a few elderly people that needed help so other guests were just helping each other. Not the best so far.
Thankfully the transfer wasn't long approx 30mins it would of been nice to off been offered water. There was no sorry about the wait nothing. On arriving to our ship. The was no info as into what the protocol was. This was our first cruise so felt lost and just followed other people. The men who collected our luggage from the cruise ship were friendly and chatty, what a change from what we had experienced. After a wait on check in we made it to our room exhausted.
Leaving the cruise ship. We were down waiting on our connection from Barrhead back to the airport. Everyone was out waiting we were told don't be late so most of us were early. No one was there a lot of us were asking people have you seen Barrhead we don't know what bus to get on. Finally a rep turned up. She was rude, never apologised and had no care. She finally told us the buses were late and should be here soon. She split us into to groups and just left us to get onto the buses. We were told what terminal to get too and that was it. Due to the buses being late we had to rush to check in which was three floors down then go up three floors again to departure. This infuriated all the customers, on the bus nearly everyone was saying we will not be going to Barrhead again. The customer service was terrible.

As I said this was our first time booking with your company and it wasn't the best. On arrival back to Scotland we popped into our local shop in Stirling and expressed disappointment with our experience. The response we got was "oh sorry about that" there wasn't a real concern.
So we decided we would not be booking with Barrhead again. Shame really but if you would like repeat custom try and be a bit more interested in your customers.
We have booked another cruise with Thomas cook this year and so far we have already got a better deal and it is cheaper too.

Barrhead Travel Service card payment charge

I have recently booked a holiday with your Irvine store, and I am intending to pay my holiday in instalments, when I telephoned the other day I was informed it would cost me an extra £1 to pay with my visa debit card, when I questioned this the advisor said it was the bank that charged them, I have never herd this before I work in the customer service industry and want an explanation please...

If I was to pay my holiday up over a long period of time foe example ten weeks this would mean I would be paying an extra £10, not forgetting all the other customer paying with visa debit ...

Tracey, I have just had the same problem as you.
I have just been charged for using my visa debit card to pay my holiday I booked with Barrhead Travel Ayr. I paid the deposit last month and the deputy manager who I dealt with didn't even tell me about debit card charge, she only told me about charges for using credit card. I found out today when paying rest of holiday that I had been charged when paying deposit and that I would be charged again. I think it is disgusting they have charged for debit card payment as banks only charge companies 20p and most companies absorb that cost themselves.
Also, I offered to pay all the holiday at once but manager said that I could pay in April. So I received a demand for payment to be paid today(28th Feb) and was also charged again for using visa debit card.
I will not be using Barrhead travel again, what a rip off!

Barrhead Travel Service cruise book but given a higher cost after booking

I am currently having issues with my bookings with barrhead travel.

i am frustrated that i was given a price when i originally booked which i wrote down and they are now trying to charge me more stating that this was the price i was given in the first place.
May last year i was given £1425pp then 1/2 price for 2nd person, they are now stating that I was given £1425 was the per person including the 1/2 price which is not the case.
They also said that 3 persons have said this cost to me so there is no way they could be lying.
i have 2 bookings which are linked, which should be 1425 + 712.5 = £2137.5 per room we then had a open booking of £75 per room and vouchers from our harmony sailing of £326 per room and a £50 loyalty voucher, which should leave an outstanding balance of £3423 for both rooms.
But Barrhead have sent us an invoice for £4840 giving a difference of £1417.

I have phoned Barrhead on many occasions but they refuse to agree that they have made a mistake and will not help in any way.
We have always gone through Barrhead so we know how they price cruises and I always write it down as they say it.

We have also phone Royal Caribbean who can not help as we have gone through a third party.

We had based our cruise on a specific budget and cannot afford the extra money required, unfortunately if this cannot be resolved we will have to cancel which would leave bad feeling with all involved.
Also if we cancel we will be losing out on the £150 deposit and the value of the vouchers which I feel will put me off booking again.

I am hoping you can help me resolve this, as I feel barrhead are implying I have lied and I feel they are covering for their employees mistake.

Barrhead Travel Service mis information about thomas cook

Holiday booked to Gran Canaria with Thomas Cook Holidays through Barrhead Travel
I booked food, extra baggage and selected seats, 4th November 2016 Thomas Cook cancelled the flight home and we came back with Jet 2.
I was told by Barrhead Travel when I called in to the Clydebank branch that I would get a refund and compensation from Thomas Cook if not before I went on Holiday just after. I did not receive a refund and have had to contact Thomas Cook direct who have stated yesterday that Barrhead Travel should have gotten my refund for me and Thomas Cook DO NOT GIVE COMPENSATION. Thomas Cook is now giving me my refund which they owe me but they have advised me to complain about the wrong information given by Barrhead Travel, I am not happy with this so called service

Barrhead Travel Service food poisoning

Booked a trip to Majorca through Barrhead Travel. Stayed at Son Calui Hotel and on day 3 came down with food poisoning. Absolutely horrendous last 4 days in the hotel room. It was either from the Hotel Breakfast/Dinner or the three restaurants which are part of the hotel. Those three restaurant were lacking health and safety procedures so I would avoid. Full week to recover, 12 pounds lost which is horrible for me being slim anyway. Never again will I be visiting that destination

Barrhead Travel Service about hotel and flight

I booked a long weekend break at barrhead travel duloch park in dunfermline to lanzarote. Our flight with ryanair to arrecife on 23/04/2010 was terrible the seats were filthty the pilots were spanish the 2 cabin crew were spanish. When we got to our hotel flora apartments in puerto del carmen the maid didnt change the sheets they were covered in urine, the toilet was slack, the balcony floor was dirty and there was dead cockcroaches and stour. The food at the hotel was rotten and cold the receptionists and staff werent helpfull. I will never book with barrhead travel again there # and rip you off

Why is it a problem if the pilots and the cabin crew (which, by the way there would have been 4, not 2) were Spanish?

They'd all speak English.

Barrhead Travel Service travel insurance

I booked a short Holiday with barrhead Travel in Glasgow on the date 7 April to 11th April 2008 traveling to Prague due to some unforeseen circumstance I lost my wallet congaing personal cash I contacted the insurance company which is named TPS insurance admin services ltd po box leeds 132 leeds LS10 9BT elect travel insurance based in leeds got onto a call centre with appalling customer service the customer service gave me the run around and were highly un professional they told me they did not have enough staff on and were moving office this is highly bad business practice I called more than 5 times at different occasions to get my case sorted out that was were very poor in quality off service also went to barrhead travel the staff there are very unclear and not verbally able to deal with a inquiry that the customer wants to address basically young girls who dont seem to know what the left hand is doing from the right the could not give me clear information i my inquiry regarding my insurance document but did eventually get through to tps insurance with a call centre thats appallingly bad and very un helpful, this furthers my projection that travel company's especially barrhead and insurance company's just try to FLOG the customer who may be a little naive when booking a holiday anything they want due to the customers lack of experiance this has really opened my eyes and will be the last time I get travel insurance with Elect travel insurance which barrhead travel use in glasgow at there branch jamaica street I believe is under the name tps po box 132 leeds LS10 9BT I am somewhat sick and highly infurated by these so called call centres who do not know how to deal with a customer with that personel touch its just pathetic if anyone is travelling to europe find out because if its under the european union you will probablly get free health care etc these travel companys will say anything and aeverything to FLOG a holiday open your eyes and dont be fooled after all there just sales people who really dont have much exp in some countrys etc regarding law etc a complete shambles..never to be trusted.

Was one disaster to an other five different staff members on the phone in one week they got our holliday all mixed up and it was my wedding lost weight with the stress they caused me it's been 2 weeks since our complaint went in still not heard anything

Booked a holiday through Ryan at St. Enoch branch. Asked him to confirm he had received Booking Checklist/Pre-Departure Information. Ryan claimed that he hadn't received the e-mails with the attachments. Claimed he phoned our home bit always got engaged tone. Eventually complained to his manager, Ruairidh, who never got back to me. Phoned again and spoke to Mark, still waiting to hear from him. Spoke to Edith in customer services who transferred me to Mark. I am led to believe that they need the Booking Checklist/ Pre Departure Information before they can issue the flight tickets. I would never book through them again.

Mis-sold a holiday package and insurance never covered me for my accident which was broken thumb and fractured ribs, paid £5500 for holiday and nothing was met to standards

I booked barrhead travel for a caribbean cruise with Thomson's in january 2012.
between the 2 of them they messed up my booking for leg room seats, I have now
had to pay an extra £500.00 for premium seating. Both companies have a I do not
care blame each other attitude, I will not book with any of them ever again,
that is a 100% GUARANTEE.I would recommend that anyone wishing to book with
either BARRHEAD TRAVEL OR THOMSON have a real close look at what they are
booking and what they are getting... they are both joke companies stay well
clear of them both

I agree that Barrhead Travel is only interested in "flogging a holiday".
I've also had a bad experience with Barrhead Travel who seem to have a problem communicating with the customer. Their priority is getting your money and NOT in fulfilling their contract with you. They seem able to sell holidays but are totally unable to write a letter or send an email in response to a complaint and hide behind the ABTA rule of responding in 28days. Over 7 weeks equals more than 28days and not even an acknowledgement from them.
If you book with Barrhead Travel don't expect help if you have a problem and DONT BUY YOUR INSURANCE from them.
