My daughter is 17, has a broken tooth, and needs a root canal. We are on medicaid. She was diagnosed by another dentist as needing a root canal and we were sent to an endodontist. I called Aspen Dental & got an appointment set up. She was seen, we set up all the work, and I felt good about it. I want to say this, 2 sets of xrays, 2 seperate dentists, and a 3D xray all Confirmed that a root canal was necessary. This endodontist comes in once a month to work with medicaid patients. We get a call 2 days before the appointment and were told Medicaid is covering the root canal and crown but the doctor is insisting on a pulp test to prove its a root canal and insurance wont cover it (because its an unnecessary test generally only used with small children) so unless we pay $70 out of pocket for this test my kid isnt getting a root canal. So I called insurance apparently thats not legal, he can not charge for that test and now the insurance company is filing a grievance against the doctor and I am so angry that my child has to suffer because a doctor isnt satisfied by what he gets paid from medicaid so he is taking advantage of poor people to line his pockets. Its disgusting and meanwhile My kid is in pain and the process was started there through insurance so now idk what to do but im disabled and on social security which only covers rent and bill and I cant afford it and its wrong to pay for an unnecessary test because of a greedy endodontist. Shame on those people.
