I "won" a bogus $300 credit toward a service at a local event in FL. Laser Center rep called and told me to come in on Saturday to get an extra $100 off a service, but I had to go in that day or else it was void. 5 hours after agreeing to financing for $2200 for 60 months, I found that I was not able to commit to the contract and emailed the clinic manager...

American Laser Skincare branch closed down and I want my money back

The branch near where I live closed down without ALC notifying me. Back in January I left 3 messages til someone from customer service called back (they called me back more than 2 weeks later). Then they said the branch would open back up in April after renovations...I stopped by there yesterday (FYI it is now May) and the place is being torn down. I want my money back! I am not driving 45-60 min away to another branch. It's not my fault you guys closed down the branch near where I live. If you haven't noticed, gas prices are at about $4.00 a gallon. I payed in full and you guys haven't completed my treatment. I left another message just recently for customer service but if I dont get a response or get a BS response I am going to get a lawyer.

I became a customer of American Laser Centers in New York City (928 Broadway, NY, NY) through their accusition of a clinic I was going to called Advanced Laser. Once my contract from Advanced Laser was over, American Laser employees manipulated me into signing up for another package with them for $1249. They assured me of their money back guarantee if there...

American Laser Skincare refund

Update on my previous post: Since arguing for my refund for over two years (and getting extra treatments at alternate branches, getting pictures, getting ignored in the field, etc.), ALC was bought or partnered up with a new company. And the very person I have been hounding for these many years, wrapped up my case and sent me a check based on their new policies.

SO, everyone, have heart. Call and make your case, this is your shot. I would ask for e-mail address as I found that MUCH EASIER than trying to reach someone by phone.

My thanks to the new Customer Service team for returning my deserved money.

I also am trying to receive a refund...i went in and got scammed into getting a "package deal" of photo facial and laser hair removal. After 1 treatment each which was painful and left me with a breakout on my face from the photo facial and no anesthetic/ numbing cream for the hair removal, i decided i can not trust them and refuse to go back to them...its been 2 months and no one has gotten back to me regarding this issue!

Cardholder disputes

August 3, 2008

I am disputing my bill from American Laser Center of Sacramento:
In the amount of $804.00.

I am making 1 last attempt to reason with American laser Centers of Sacramento before I take this to small claims court:

I signed up for a contest at a bridal show at Sunrise Mall for laser treatments, and then I got a call a few days later stating that I won a prize valued at $250.00 toward services.. So I went down to American Laser center of Sacramento to collect my prize. The very high pressure sales person talked me into buying the whole package with my care credit card The manager stated that the procedures were not painful and you could not even tell you were having any work done. So you could go back to workright away. I ended up buying a whole package with my prize included which was valued at $250.00 Now I have cancelled the package because of pain during the treatment and black and red spots on my face for a week. This is my third attempt to get American laser centers to understand that what they did to me is unethical and illegal. American laser centers sent me a tiny writing explanation of what refund that I was entitled to which is only $1910.77 they said I owe $804.00 for two treatments instead of the (bargain) price in the package which is not right. I only cancelled due to pain and the red marks . Also I want my prize of $250.00 deducted from the left over and I will be happy to return the unused portion of the lotion which I do not need since I stopped receiving treatments. This company American laser is a scam I should not be paying the price of a one shot treatment that is not what I signed up for. Do not use this company for foto Facial or microdermabraision it is painful and way overpriced all work is done by a beauty school Esthtitionion not medical personel.
Thank you very much

In May 2008 I went to American Laser Centers in Santa Rosa, California.

I was told about this company because my friend gave me his $300 coupon he won at a fair.

Long story short. I too signed the contract. The next day I was feeling I was being charged too much for only 6 appointments = + $5, 000

I talked with a friend who said you should not be paying in advanced.
His example was: If you go to the dentist, get a haircut, dr. appt = you pay as you go-- NOT in advanced.

I called to cancel my laser appointment. No work or services were ever done to me.

I was then told I had to pay the 10% administration fee.
(I was furious! = + $500)

I told the laser people under the California law according to the “State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, The Consumer Transaction with Statutory Contract Cancellation Rights there is a three-day no fault cancellation.”

American Laser Centers would NOT honor this Law!

I then consulted my friend who is a business person.

I paid over 2, 000.00 on my treatment for hair removal and facial treatments. Each time I called to make an appointment there was nothing available. Also, I was told that the facial treatments would eliminate scars completely and that each appointment had to be scheduled as told due to their regulations. Both statements were false. At one of my appointments I had a personal conversation with the technician. She thought the clinic she worked at was completely about money and unethical. I am in the health field and do not tolerate immoral or unethical behavior. In the future, I will strongly think twice before recommending their services

I bought a package with American Laser, in Mequon WI the summer of 2006. I went in for a consultation to learn more about it and was pressured into buying a package before I left. I called the next day to tell them I was not interested and I wanted the charge to be refunded to my credit card. They refused and said they have a no refund policy; I could only get credit (the package switched to a different area of the body.) The package was over $1, 300 and I didn’t want it, I was only curious to find out more about the procedure when I went in for the consult. I started sessions, after directing my concerns to the manager at the Mequon location, and she kept reverting back to their company policy. It’s been 2 years and yeah, there is a little reduction, but not the kind they advertise. It’s suppose to be 6-8 sessions, I’m way passed that! Recently I changed hair stylists and the girl who does my hair use to work for American Laser at the Mayfair Location. She told me that they swindle customers all the time with the “no refund policy, ” but the policy really applies to once you began treatment, not before. So in deed they misled and took advantage of me. She told me how her managers would put extreme pressure on customers to buy packages and they will use “discounts” as incentives to customers, but they’re not really discounts. They up the price of the package, buy the amount of the discount so it seems that way. And those drawings to win a gift certificate, 1st prize $500, 2nd prize $300 and 3rd prize $100 are all sales ploys to get customers in to pressure them into a package. I bought the package for the bikini area; my friend is having the same treatment done by her gynecologist. She started a short time ago and is seeing amazing results, it cost her under $1, 000 and it’s preformed by her doctor, not a beauty school estitition.

American Laser Skincare treatment does not work... refund

This is an update to what I wrote several months ago. After 19 hair removal treatments, I had no results. I started the refund claim (referred to as non respondent claim by American Laser) on December 5, 2007. Generally the non respondent claim review process is about 3 days. However, in reality that is not the case. After writing a letter to the Regnial Manager for the NYC center, Carina Rodriguez, to be submitted with my refund claim, I waited for a reply. After not getting a reply, I started calling Ms. Rodriguez and leaving voice messages for her each and every time. Then finally, I was informed a month later that, I needed to come into the center for more pictures. At this time, I realised that I was given the run around and decided to write a letter on January 4, 2008 to the CEO of American Laser (Gary Graves, 24555 Hallwood Court, Farmington Hills, MI 48335. Fax # [protected] Phone # [protected]) This letter explained my entire history with American Laser and outlined what happend to me and who I spoke with (their names, telephone numbers and dates). I send this letter by certified mail with return receipt requested because if this did not work out, I was getting my paper work ready to file a small claims complaint in court. After faxing the letter, I called his office to confirm that they have received the fax and what the procedure was going to be. I also called every other day to follow up, but was trasnferred to voicemails of customer services and the legal department. i.e. Erica, Eva, and Robert Fessinger. Eva and Mr. Fessinger never returned my calls. Erica returned my call saying that she can't do anything and she doesn't know who can help. Carina Rodrigues returned my call on January 10, 2008 saying that she couldn't figure out what my name was and thus was unable to pull my file so she didn't call me earlier. My response to that was all she had to do is call me ONCE and ask me to spell my name, but appearently that was too much for her to comprehend. In this telephone conversation, I informed her that I wrote a letter to the CEO and Ms. Rodriguez became very upset and said "I should not have done that and that we are talking about people's livelyhood". To make this long conversation short, I summerized what happened and faxed her a copy of the letter to the CEO. Almost of the month past by where I kept calling to find out the status of my refund claim and was given more run around. Finally, on Feb. 19, 2008, I was told that my refund was approved and that I should get it soon. Because I paid thru Care Credit (GE Money), I would have to wait until Care Credit processed the refund claim. FYI - Care Credit takes 4-6 weeks to process a refund claim and they are even worse then American Laser about refunds. Finally I received my refund on March 25th 2008.

My advise is to keep following up with American Laser Center and make sure you keep a log of who you speak with and when you call and what happened during that conversation. They will give you a run around, but you have to keep at it. For me, December 5 thru Feb. 19th, were a living hell. It was very frustrating and extremely stressful. However, I kept calling to let them know that I was not giving up on my claim. I also wrote letters to outlining my dealings with American Laser. I finally that's what paid off.

Good Luck.

I am trying to get my refund also. I thought it was in process but little did I know they have billed me already. The manager lied to me saying the billing would not start until about 1-2 months. I strongly agree that this is very frustrating and extremely stressful. Thank you for the advice.

American Laser Skincare our nightmare and how we got a partial refund!

Since I believe my nightmarish story has now concluded, I thought I would share how I dealt with this company. I won't bother retelling the company's history and business practices as it is widely reported elsewhere. My wife won the $300 coupon at a local health fair (I don't really have an issue with this practice btw). I was not present at her consultation but she was heavily pressured mostly by coyly demeaning her. "Oh you really must get rid of that unsightly hair, you will be soooo happy" kind of stuff. Then they told her she could come in for monthly treatments at $100/month and asked if she wanted to begin immediately. She agreed and had one treatment. As she was leaving, they asked her to sign a paper and didn't review its contents at all. It was a contract for $6000 of services and they had opened a line of credit.

Now my wife should have known better, but I really didn't think this was a big deal until I started researching this company that evening and then I panicked. I left a message at the office she visited simply saying "my wife wishes to discontinue the program. We will pay for the one treatment she received. Please call us asap." So the next day the regional manager calls my wife and says that I threatened them, threats won't work, you signed the papers, etc. Totally unprovoked anger from the regional manager, she was truly crazy. I believe her name was Jen.

So we both went into the local office and tried to discuss the situation with the local manager who had been so very friendly the night before. Jeckyll and Hyde, what do you know. She's now yelling at my wife even though my wife is crying and begging to terminate the program. She gets the regional manager on the phone and the regional manager says the same thing. "NO REFUNDS, YOU SIGNED THE PAPERS, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, I WILL NOT SPEAK TO YOUR HUSBAND, YOU CANNOT THREATEN ME." I've really never experienced anything like it even at a car dealership. So I sat in silence during this and then calmly offered again to pay for the treatment she received and said I couldn't understand how this wasn't a reasonable proposition. Neither of us once threatened them to this point. Of course they then began yelling at me. So then I said I would call a lawyer and the local media and I was quite serious about this. When the local manager said she couldn't understand my problem because their clients were happy, I said she shouldn't be working for a company like this and that she should try googling "American Laser Centers" sometime. I guess you could call these threats and insults - finally.

So then the local manager called us a few hours later and offered a reduced package or a single treatment at $800+. While this is a ridiculous number of course, I didn't see any way around paying it so I agreed to it. She told me again that threats don't work. I guess they are really worried about threats. Terror level RED!

Then of course more shenanigans ensued. No one local or at HQ would return a phone call or email about the status of the refund for a month. So I started playing with their phone system, which is designed to not allow you to talk to a person. In fact, every person I talked to seemed shocked that I had reached them. I'd just started madly hitting # and * and 9 until I ended up in a company directory. I randomly picked someone in the directory, actually spoke to them, then they sent me to customer service land again where my call was dropped. This happened several times, but I just kept trying random people until someone put me in touch with someone named Eva at extension 291 who ultimately issued my refund. I have to say that she was the only one I spoke to that seemed reasonable and acted as if this was totally routine. Turned out that even after a month the local manager had not initiated the refund even though she said it would take no more than a week. I insisted on receiving a document with the refund information on it. In the refund ticket I got from the local manager had entered "The number sounds correct, I was going to enter this later today". Yeah right.

Getting this refund ticket document was another serious trick. Eva went on vacation and said I would have it faxed to me the next day. Didn't happen of course so I called her neighbors (x270, 272, 273, etc.) I spoke to Marketing people, IT people, I didn't care who. They did dumb stuff like hung up before the fax went through and tried to send the fax to my cell phone. I don't know if this was a sign of intention or incompetence.

I really had the feeling the whole way that they were a stonewalling operation of the highest level.

I only have minor complaints about GE/Care Credit. As soon as the refund was issued I called and paid the balance over the phone and requested that they close my account. A few days later I received a letter saying the account was closed, but I still had a balance and had incurred a finance charge. I called to ask why there was still a balance and they said my transaction had been 'voided' and they couldn't explain why. So I did another transaction and this one went through, but now my available credit has gone from $0 (i.e. account is closed) back up to $6500.

Anyway, I'm sorry for the rambling writing style. I'm normally much more deliberate but this is all I had time for. It goes without saying that you should avoid this company at all costs. You certainly do not want to trust any aspect of your health to a company like this. My only other advice is to fight fire with fire. I do not like conflict at all, but with a company this low you have to stoop to their level to fight.

Best of luck to those still fighting.

I had the exact same issue. FOUR hours after purchasing my very large package I called and said I didn't want the procedure because I was uncomfortable with the terrible reviews I read online after signing the papers along with having blonde hair. My husband was less than thrilled to say the least. They told me once I signed I was locked into the contract. I called Care Credit and they said only American Laser could issue the refund. Needless to say I have not used Care Credit since that day. I went ahead a month later and started treatments after several regional managers became involved and denied any type of refund. I was more than dissatisfied. I was told upon signing my contract that due to my blonde hair they would need to double-pass each visit. After my first, they said their new policy no longer allowed double-passing but my guarantee period would be enough to eliminate the hair fully. After my 6th appointment a disgruntled nurse told me their systems don't work and I'll still need to shave regularly and then proceeded to pull up her pant leg and show me her leg hair - which looked normal after having a full series of treatments! Once my guarantee period kicked in they were suddenly "booked" and in a two year period could only fit me in a couple times due to "office merging". My guarantee is now expired and they followed up with a phone call letting me know their schedule has cleared up with hiring some new staff and I can come in for my appointments at a discounted hourly rate - WOW. Really? This is legal business practice? Amazing.

I was an unLUCKY winner and they hustled me into buying a 5 treatment each of microdermabrasion and IPL Foto Facial package for $1900. I don't want to go into the specifics right now but I did it to treat my Enlarged Pored on my cheeks. After 2 micro's and 2 IPL's I am starting to think that it is making my skin worse.

They also hustled me into buying their products, so they milked me for another $200+. I showed up and after the treatment was told I must purchase their "PLL (Post Laser Lotion)" and "Sunblock". I was told these two products were MANDATORY. I also bought at their recommendation the "replenishing mask" and some "Gentle cleanse face cleanser".

I was also burned on my nose and this mark looks like it may scar. I called them the day of and they said they would call the next day and I never heard from them. Its been 8 days and the scab is still their and the wound has not completely healed.

I just used the mud mask tonight and after about 10 mins I went to wash it off and it would not come off my face. I scrubbed and scrubbed (irritating my pores to the greatest extent possible) and finally got it off. It was a horrible experience and I can't believe how much of an idiot I am to have went through with this and spend all this money.

I could not find any conclusive evidence that these treatments would even work for my condition.

I am 1/2 way into the treatments. What should I do?

UPDATE: 3/27/08

If "cj" was referring to me I would like it to be known that I have been to THREE of their clinics which were all three located here in Southern California.

The clinic nurse who performed on me relayed a message claiming that I already had the weird blister on my nose (Note: it took 2 1/2 weeks to heal, only laser wounds or burns cause damage to skin tissue like that). I laughed in disgust and I told the lady speaking at the other end that I don't play games. I am known by my reputation to be as honest as they come.

Personally, I am trying to keep my name from the public because its my right to privacy. If I am pushed to that point I will reveal my name as well as all those involved and locations, dates and so on.

Well I decided to cancel the IPL Foto Facial and continue with the Micro. They said it was in my contract that I could not cancel. I pleaded how the laser burned my nose and how that was documented with my doctor and I have pictures. They remained firm and said they couldn't do anything other then offer me more micro's or something sufficient. I was also given a bag full of products and was told I would not be charged for any of them nor any of the procedures I have had done to date. If that's true my balance should be still around $2100. I should also have 19 Micro treatments remaining.

I received my third micro and they day after I notice a few deep lines on my face and a purple rash on my forehead. The other two times I had this procedure these symptoms never arose. Usually day after I felt a slight burn and the PLL would calm that. This time I felt lightheaded, dehydrated, had this purple rash on my head and almost cat scratch like lines all over my face. One next to my nose and the other above my left eyebrow.

I called and reported this with the clinic. They said just to use the PLL (post laser lotion) 3 times daily and the replenishing mask at night. I also noticed a
local place next to where I get my haircut who does Micro. I called and set up an appointment for today and will see what they have to say.

I will keep you posted accordingly.

p.s. I am not the only one, just one of few who has enough courage to stand up for what's right.

UPDATE: 1/09/09

This is BurnedByALC. I'm not going to respond to any comments left towards me. All I have to say is I pay my bills and take care of business. For anyone who questions the legitimacy of this I feel for you and wish you the best.

Now back to the matter at hand, ALC and how they burned me more ways than one. I was lead to believe that my refund was going through and I would receive it. I come to find out in July just 2 days before my birthday that it was denied. I did not get an explanation on why and the Clinic referred me or in other words "passed the buck" to Customer Service where I have tried on numerous occasions to contact the Supervisor.

After almost a month I finally spoke with the Supervisor in late August and she said she doesn't check her Voicemail's and that somebody else does for her. I explained the situation and she said would get back to me "later that day or early next week". After a a few weeks I tried to contact her again leaving voicemail's in September, October and decided to take some time off to enjoy the holidays.

Today (1/09/09) I spoke with a Customer Service rep and had them notate the account and left another Voicemail for the Supervisor.

I have notes regarding every visit, conversation as well as audio recordings and documentation from a outside source (Reputable Plastic Surgeon).

I have decided to move forward with a complaint with the California Medical Board and to follow with a Lawsuit. I strongly urge anyone else who is interested in doing the same to message me immediately so we can discuss this matter further. Please leave your name and best way to be contacted.

Thanks,

Really? I have heard bad things about it, but i went with my mom after both of us winning $300. She said the six treatments plus the 2 year "after treatments" would be $800. I went and they told me I was their dream patient because I have black hair and pale skin (which she said was the best type to get results. The people were really nice to me and a lot of other people were coming in and out like crazy for their treatments. I think people just need to do research before going in and signing contracts. But I'm sorry that happened, atleast you put up a good fight (6.000 down to 800 is better than nothing).

American Laser Skincare non-refundable administrative fee

I went in for my "free consultation" where I filled out all of the pre-screening paper work and spoke with the sales manager, Ashley. I decided to purchase the recommended 6 treatment $2000 hair removal package, and signed paperwork which she did not review with me. One day later, I called to cancel the contract- citing buyers remorse and she said that corporate would have to process the refund. Once corporate contacted me- one and a half weeks later, they told me that I would have my refund less the 10% "administrative fee" ($200)which apparently is on one of the 7 documents I signed. Prostitutes are paid less for more than what I got.
Another issue: they kept changing their story on the base price for the treatment package. Supposedly I was receiving a 30% friends and family discount plus a 30% discount for the current special rate, however they kept changing their base price when I called to check later- $5000 one time, $3000 another and $3300. I smell the stink of a SCAM

American Laser Skincare unsatisfied!

My mother and I have had SEVERAL procedures done and have found NO results from any of them. They actually BURNED my face at one point. They have refused to show me before & after pictures of any of the procedures. For the Amera smooth I went 3 times a week 21 times. They took measurements my first time & photos. They took photos for the final procedure, but no measurements. I have ALWAYS been small in build and am heavier now than I was at 9 months pregnant. I have gained 20 lbs in 4 months in the areas they did the procedure on. I have also done the skin tightening, photo facial & hair removal with NO RESULTS. I have used their skin products which I see NO difference in. Aveeno is better. I am at the point of hiring a lawyer. i am scared the only thing they may have done is irreversible damage to my skin & body. My next appointment is with a dermatologist. DO NOT USE AMERICAN LASER CENTERS, it is a fraud and all they try to do is sell, sell, sell. You cannot even email them a complaint because then you would have proof you contacted them.

I bought a package of 6 microderm abraisons in mid November 2009 at the Naples, FL location. They closed their doors and told me that I could get my services done at thier Bonita Springs location...now a one hour drive from my house rather than a 20 minute drive. I asked to be refunded b/c they sold me the package when they had full knowledge that they were closing this location. They did not tell me they were closing this location but I called the leasing company of the strip mall that were located in and the leasing agent told me that ALC Naples had given them a 3 month notice that they were moving. SO, they sold me a package with knowledge that they were not longer going to be in business at that location. Now, I tried to reverse the charge on my credit card but I lost the dispute b/c ALC has clauses in their contract that protect THEM...I cannot get out of the contract even if they close all FL locations and tell me I have to get my services performed in Timbucktoo. Geez...I plan on pursuing this through the civil courts b/c I have proof that they sold me a package and had knowledge that they were closing their doors. I have no complaints about the services that I had performed in the past at the Naples location, but will not be driving one hour north to another city to get the services that I bought under the representation that they would be performed in the Naples location. Corporate would not return my calls, so I have not other choice but to deal with this through the civil court process.

Same bad experience here. I went to american laser center last year (june 2007) for sun spots on my face. I have been told I would see the diffrence in 2 sessions. I purchased 6 session photo facial treatments, during those treatments I've got burned few times, the last one was the worst of all (March 2008). First they used the wrong settings for my face, when I complaint they kept saying this is highest setting that they can use, can't get higher. After my 6th session someone told me that they have been using the wrong settings all along and changed it to the right settings for my face. Since then I have received 3 sessions and I start seeing the difference. My last appointment was supposed to be this week and I received a call from the district manager of American Laser Center in Naples, FL (becuse all her managers and techs quit on her) she said that I have been given 3 free sessions and now I should buy a new package in order to continue my treatments. When I explained her why I did receive those free sessions she was insist that she sees a difference on my pictures. I told her to get an eye glasses to look at them again because my face haven't seen any sun almost a year and I'm looking at it everyday that I could't see any difference before the last session. She added that photo facial is not a guarentee to get rid of spots that I have on my face. Therfore why should I purchase another package? We didn't hang up on good terms.

There are another guarantee treatsments out there costs $4000 that I regret everyday that I waste my money on this treatment instead. American laser center changed ownership afew months ago and since then every time I went there something was broken, they ignore all the machines. If you don't want to look like worse than you walked in, I recommend not to go to American Laser Center for any treatments, save your money for something else.

I have had 2 treatments of the Amera smooth & haven't lost a cm. my thigh was a 23 the first session & this morning it's still a 23. They took before pictures & pictures after each treatment which I have asked to see but they will not show me. I bought 4 treatments & I just cancelled the one for today, because this concerns me! I do not want to grow anymore in these problem areas! I also have spent several thousands of dollars in laser hair removal which I have experienced a whole lot of pain but no results, I am going on my 4th session of 6! I was reassured this procedure (hair removal) was guaranteed, they would continue with treatment if the hair does not go away. I have about $6, 000. in American laser, I need to speak with someone, and not another sales person, I want straight answers if this is going to work.

American Laser Skincare no refunds even if it is a medical condition

I went it to American Laser for a free consult from a bridal show. The manager strong armed me into signing despite the fact that I had an acne condition and I was seeing the dermatologist the following week. She gave me $1500 off and said if the doctor said I couldn't have the treatments, she would refund me. They signed me up for Care Credit so they were paid in full. I went to the doctor and they advised I could not receive the treatments due to medications I'd be on long term. Went back to American Laser and the manager was gone. Current manager advised to get a doctor's note. I did and they are still refusing to refund me. Medical condition and all. The regional manager is not returning my calls.

I am having problems with the ALC too. I had won $400.oo towards the total packages. I went in there under the impression a doctor was going to do it. I thought it was like a doctor office. They had me fill out a sheet about my medical history. Just like going to a new doctor. I told the women I had recorrective surgery on my face and asked if that was going to be a problem. She said no. So after having one laser treatment. I was telling my dentist all about what I was doing. And he told me that I couldn't have that done because the laser would arc off the metal in my face causing 2nd and 3rd degree burns. He ask me if I filled out a medical history report. And I said yes. Now, I am in the hole $1800.00 for a procedure I can't even have.

American Laser Skincare over price

A wonderful company called Lux got brought out by American Laser the Walmart of Laser centers. They stole the customers list, doubled prices of services, fired skilled help like trained nurses and then do not even post price lists for services. The body is divided into certain quadrants and I have been getting Cellulite treatments which are very painful and leave alot of bruising. You would think that for $4400 dollars I could get my legs done but "NO" only butt and back of legs up back of Knees. I would try to get my money back but their is a "No Refund Policy" and now that they have started my legs look terrible..

American Laser Skincare scam training program!

The company claims they have an extensive training program FALSE! A company nurse comes that truly could not perform a treatment on a patient because they don't have the knowledge to do so. They only know how to train the girls on a protocol strictly out of a book. It's a 2day training thats right a TWO DAT TRAINING and then the new employee that never operated a laser on a patient is put in the room to work on patients. The patients are like projects, like test animals. with the company"s new protocols and procedures they practice on the patients. If a new treatment comes out they get to watch a video over the computer on how to perform this treatment! SO PEOPLE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY (AMERICAN LASER CENTERS) DON"T BE THERE GUINEA PIG!

I suggest everyone that has been ripped off FILE A COMPLAINT TO STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL + FTC + BBB

I was ripped of at American Laser Center Brentwood TN. The lasers failed to remove even a single strand of hair ( I have very dark hair ). I would have better results removing my hair by taking off my shirt and rubbing my body against the wall! Complete waste of time and money.

Note: I have went to other laser centers and have seen dramatic reduction of my hair. American Laser Centers seem to only work on some people. DON'T SIGN A CONTRACT!

hi, I had a recent experience with American Laser center here in san francisco. I had no problem with them but the company they have for credit issuance ' ChaseHealthAdvance' is one of the worst company i ever dealt with in lifetime. Eventhough they say it's 12 month no charge they slam charges over n over. In 6 months they charged me twice for saying that my payments was late which wasn't . It's like they are very cheap and greedy company who wants to earn money in a very cheap way. I called customer service which was unwilling to help.

I have never gotten a procedure done at this place, but when I once went to get a consultation with them they were not professional at all. First of all, the girl that I had a consultation with was not even a nurse. That killed it for me! and second of all, they really wanted me to get a laser hair removal package that day. They basically told me that they could only give me a discount that day and that if I didnt get back to them that day, that I basically was going to lose that discount. They really seemed desperate for money. Now thats scary, I would never trust anybody like that, thats why I decided not to go with them.

American Laser Center IS a scam. I was recently employed by them, and have already figured that out! The company sent us to a two-day training (not even full days). The clinic doesn't even answer their own phones. They do NOT practice safe treatments. The other technicians there not only look and act like they are on probation for a crime, but they fill out their client/patient charts AFTER they have already performed their treatments! They do not even know what the questions on the client charts mean! They all guess at them! This is serious; this is supposed to be a medical treatment in a professional, medical setting. It is anything BUT! I'm not sure what to do with this information, but I WILL NOT work for such a harmful, unreputible company!

This is hilarious you go on to this forum called the “Signature Forum” aka American Laser Parlor Center that you think is independently owned and operated however what really happens is all the links go American Laser Parlor Centers. American Laser Parlor Center in Phoenix, Arizona has been refused the lowest business rating by the BBB Online because of their strong-arm business tactics. American Laser Skincare won't honor pre-purchased treatments

I prepaid for treatments with Advanced Laser Clinics. When it was purchased by American Laser Clinics, American refuses to honor any of the pre-paid treatments from previous clients. They also refuse to return medical records. Since they purchased the Advanced Laser Treatments, they absorb the obligations of the company.

Do not use American Laser Treatment. They will not make good on pre-paid treatments.

American Laser Skincare office closed doors, no refund, terrible customer service

I bought a $2,600 package for laser hair removal in Reno, NV and their clinic closed its doors. I have a contract signed with American Laser Centers, however they deny having anything to do with my problem. They NEVER return phone calls, and keep transfering me to an unidentified voice mail. I leave messages but they have been ignoring me.
The little they worked on my skin showed poor results.
My next step will be to complain to the Better Business Bureau and to the Attorneys' Office. I will also have to hire a lawyer to try to get my money back, and I know of at least one more person in the same situation.

Well as everyone above I am another dissatisfied customer, let me take that back, I am another extremely pissed off customer. I have been getting treatments and they have been showing okay results but not the best. Then one day I question another treatment area to them, the next thing I know I am dealing with a used car salesman personality. When I say no to them they keep adding on services, when I say no again, they keep adding on more and more services to make it look like a great deal. You start to wonder how much you are overpaying for these services when they are so willing to keep adding on free services. Then when I tell them I have to think about it over night, they tell me that it's only good for today. I felt sooooo pressured and uncomfortable and I got sucked in and signed the contract. For a week I couldn't sleep thinking about why the hell did I fall for this girls used car salesman tactic of getting business. I was so frustrated and so stressed and I need to get my money back. So now I have been battling trying to get my money back for a month and it's been ridiculous. At first I asked the office I was getting treatments at for a refund and the girl told me they will no longer be giving refunds, that the policy has changed, when my contract clearly states that a refund shall be given if no services have been performed. For anyone that has studied contract law, and you don't even have to study contract law to know this it’s common sense, that it doesn't matter if they're changing the policy, what the contract says is what needs to be granted. Oh and she also said that she had me sign the wrong contract, well that is not my problem, that is ALC's problem for not training their employees to have them use the correct contracts. These people are really a good example of bad business. THEN, thinking she'd make me feel better, she went back to her used car salesman personality and she added on more services. So I called customer service to see if I can get my refund faster since obviously I wasn't dealing with not very smart people at the treatment office. After customer service put in a request and I called them back to see what the status was, the lady had told me that it was rejected by the regional manager and told me to call them. Well who the hell is the regional manager? So I called the treatment office who told me it was a corporate decision and I need to call them. So I did and I got no answer, they said they were going to call me back and never did. I kept calling back and still no answers for me. Oh and the corporate office didn't even have a copy of the contract themselves. Finally I wrote them an email so I can have it documented explaining everything that has happened, including a pdf copy of the contract and that I had spoken with my lawyer (which I really did). 2 days later I call them to make sure that they got my email and contract and my refund is finally processing. When I ask her how long, she says 8 weeks and I was dumb founded that it would take that long for them to give me my money back when they were so quick at taking mine. Now I just have to sit here and wait and hope that my refund will actually come through. I will definitely be complaining to the better business bureau and I would love to participate in a class action suit. I still have old treatments I have to go in for and now I’m going to have to find a different office because I'm scared that the office with the used car salesman will have the girls mess up my treatments since I have been fighting with them to get my money back. Actually I would love to just get my money back for the treatments I have already started because I am just so disappointed in the way they do business. I beg everyone to please not do business with them. I am sure there are companies out their that provide the same services but aren't thieves. Good luck to everyone trying to get their money back.

Let me tell you about the "new ownership". He came in for a short amount of time. Then when he saw all the b.s. that had to be cleaned up he backed out. Rich Morgan (Michigan) is still the owner. I don't think he could give this business away if he wanted. It is a scam. All about money and hitting goals to bonus. I am all for bonuses and sales but on an ethical level. The clinic managers will say anything to get clients to buy. Please be aware of this company! I would rather have a full body of hair than to go to these scamming money hungry unethical scoundrels!

I went to AlC in Reno Nevada. The one that closed the doors in 2007.
The manager at the time told me one of the girls was using the wrong laser on the patients. That wasn't very comforting to know because that same girl did my $450.00 IPL. I had three treatments, 2 after that no results. I am lucky my face wasn't scared!
If you get an attorney please tell them that. Her name is Jasmin. She was the manager. I don't remember the girls name.

Ref: Consumer Complaint:
I purchased a contract from Aimi Kasuagai the Clinic Manager for Advanced Las Clinic last September 2006 for services for hair removal on legs, bikini, buttocks area and toes and they did not fulfill my contract and I have been paying for these services. They had me go through your Care Credit which you have been receiving your money since then. I have not received my treatments since this past October. I made a complaint to the Better Business Bureau of Northern Nevada Inc. I would like to be reimbursed for services not rendered.I’m very unhappy and have never had this happen to me. That someone would open a business and advertise on the radio and take innocent peoples money.

IThe address of the clinic was:

I was a tech for ALC in texas and I can say that maybe 10% if even saw resluts of total hair removal. As a tech i did my own lasering and the only thing it did in the year i was there was SLOW down the growth and THIN out the hair. When we are sent to training the RN is very responsible and very knowlegable about how to treat and what to do or not do. SHe was just as clueless as to the SCAMMING ways that happend in the office. SCAMMING as in not returning clients calls back when they had complaints(which naturally they past the buck to the techs to deal with) Creating their own prices, not following protocols, etc. From what i understand, the light from the laser is microwave lights..so you tell me! Managment would fit clients into tight slots which would either put us behing or you had to half ### it in order to get to the next client. TRUST ME..by far the worst job ever! MANAGEMENT is my eyes must be taught how to be compulsive liars when they go tyo training. They will say anything to make their monthly bonus. Some techs are estaticians most are nothing but people needing a job. So i would highly do my research because if you run into a problem you will have hell talking to managemenet(or they will lie) or trying to get ahold off corp to complain to get your issue resolved. The techs are never given a break and in the state of texas thats not unlawful so many times you are working on your feet for 8 hours without even getting a lunch or go to the bathroom. Do your research...If they dont care about there employees..why would they care about their clients?!

American Laser Skincare run fast from this group of untrained swindlers!

I called american laser centers for my husband's back hair removal... called the 800 number 5 times, no one called me back. Then I went to our local clinic in Mequon, Wisconsin. The person was rude, busy and they told me the treatments were 10 weeks apart. We had done our homework and found normal treatments should be 4-5 weeks apart. The cost was over 2000.00. I had a consult, and the tech told me they only had 2 hours of training... the equipment they use is Syneron, but, they do not have the advanced software to treat all types, so they turn down the machines to avoid the untrained people from burning you. In addition, I called the laser company and asked who the owner was of american lasers... if you do your homework on the owner, he is sitting pretty now with an ankle bracelet.

Run fast from this group of untrained swindlers.

I absolutely agree with you guys about them being horrible with customer service and treatments with no results. It's been ten days since I first called the customer service line to complain about the clinic I was going to in Raleigh, NC. I have yet to receive a phone call, email or even a spit in the face telling me to [censor] off. Something would be nice. At least if you are going to treat me like I'm not important, grow some balls and call me and tell me. I went in for the Velashape crap, the manager there told me that I was a GREAT candidate for this procedure because I only had a couple of inches to lose and I'm not over weight. So thinking this would be a great way to kick start my abs for the coming summer, I started treatment. 6 sessions in, NOTHING! Not a pound, or a quarter of an inch gone! I was furious. So I talked to the manager and asked what else could be done? She had asked me to do one more treatment with a higher power and different head, so I agreed. I'm not the type of person to complain, but when it comes to $2500 for nothing, I'm going to learn. Then she nicely suggested that I go for the laser treatments and that she'd trade it out. Happy ending, wrong. I started doing some research on prices and they definitely were ripping me off. I called to have her clarify it all for me, and then quoted me a different price from the original $2300, it's now $1600. WOW! Then she told me that I was lying about the initial quote, well babe, I HAVE IT PRINTED OUT from her! I would NEVER recommend this place or company EVER.

I will learn from your experience. I have had the same lack of results, lies, cheating and refusal to give service or refunds. Wish I had done better research before I paid my $2, 000 or had my friend pay $2300. They did not give me the $250 referral fee either for the 2 people I sent to get ripped off with me.

Hello Everyone,
I used to work at ALC for 4 years, and let me tell you, this company is a SCAM. Worst company you could ever spend money with. They are sales driven company and will do ANYTHING it takes to make a sale, (this includes, lies, deciet, and false information) just to get you to pay! They do NOT have a refund policy! (they didnt for 5 years with Rich Morgan being the founder, and then Gary Graves took over and said YES we do give refunds, but then he resigned and guess what? Rich Morgan is back, and NO REFUND POLICY is back as well! Please be very careful. There hair removal machine is not the newest or most efficent machine out there, ask syneron (the makers of the machine, its the lowest model they have!) no one has EVER seen 100% hair removal. There Velashape machine, IS BOGUS! as well as fotofacials skin tightning! Please do not invest with this company. For those of you who are seeking a refund, take the legal route...because ALC will not give you one

As a tech for ALC the lasers are old technology and the clinics are under staffed and the techs are worked like dogs. Lunch on the run and no breaks. Unfortunately, the techs want to see results but are bullied by management and not scheduled enough time to do a service they way it should be done. Go to a doctors office. The vellasmooth doesn't work and neither does the skin tightening.

Bad training, bad attitudes, bad results. I've been going for 4 years and still have hair on my legs (light skin, dark hair, should be easy).

In the Raleigh office they are so very nasty that I just gave up trying to get an appt with them. I was given a false email address to send complaints to, not that it would do any good.

This is an article that I found on the internet, I have not in anyway changed the wording or phrasing. I encourage you to read through the whole document. You probably won't be surprised.

Laser hair removal not always risk-free

(South Florida Sun-Sentinel (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Laser hair removal has become one of the fastest-growing nonsurgical cosmetic procedures in recent years _ second only to Botox _ with more than 1.3 million performed in 2005. But some health advocates say the industry has grown so fast that regulations have not kept pace and consumers should be cautious.

Touted as a way to eliminate the need for shaving or waxing to remove unwanted hair, the procedure involves passing low-level laser energy over the skin where it is absorbed in the pigment of active hair follicles, disabling them.

In South Florida and across the country, numerous consumer complaints have been filed, and injuries have been reported in rare cases. The Florida Department of Health has received 226 complaints involving laser hair removal since 1996, said Thometta Cozart, a spokeswoman for the agency.

State officials are reviewing a complaint by Selen Adak, 24, of Highland Beach, that she has permanent scarring on her leg as a result of burns suffered during treatment at American Laser Centers in Boca Raton.

In the complaint and a separate lawsuit, Adak said the treatments were a gift from her parents upon graduation from Florida Atlantic University, and included six prepaid laser treatments for her legs, underarms and bikini line.

On Adak's final treatment, the laser applied to her left leg caused 300 first- and second-degree burns, which left her with scars over the entire leg, according to Boca Raton plastic surgeon Steven Schuster, who treated her for the burns.

"It was a horrible situation. You've got to feel for this young woman, " Schuster said. "You always hear anecdotal stories, but she was the first case that I've seen that was so severe. This was a very sad case, and I think it was technician error more than anything else." Schuster said he has received a subpoena from the state asking for Adak's medical records.

Kevin Piecuch, executive vice president of American Laser Centers of Farmington Hills, Mich., which owns the Boca Raton center and others in 25 states, said he couldn't discuss Adak's case, but said the company's operations are safe.

"We have physician's assistants who do the work in Florida, " he said. "Every state has its own set of rules and regulations, and even in states where we're not required to have licensed medical people, we do a certification. All the people who operate the laser are certified through an intense training program that we oversee."

Adak said in an interview that she was unaware during the procedure that she was being burned.

When she got off the treatment table, she knew something was wrong.

"There was a really, really dark brown checkerboard pattern, and a crusting. I asked (the technician) for ice, and asked her to call the doctor, and she said no one was there, " Adak said. When she got home, her father drove her to the emergency room.

Adak's case is not unique. A Pennsylvania woman who had the same procedures developed second-degree burns and was hospitalized in 2001, and a North Carolina college student died last year from a bad reaction to an anesthetizing cream she applied to her skin before her first hair removal session, according to published reports. A fatality was also reported in Virginia, but details of that case were sealed as part of a court settlement.

Some states, such as California and Connecticut, allow only licensed physicians to use lasers for hair removal.

(EDITORS: STORY CAN END HERE)

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, which licenses clinics and hospitals, does not license laser hair removal centers, nor does it track any problems that might develop, said Toby Philpot, a spokesman for the agency.

The Florida Board of Medicine says the commercial application of a laser on human tissue is the practice of medicine. That means only a physician or a physician's assistant should be using such equipment, said Christopher Nuland, a Jacksonville attorney who represents the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.

But an exception has been made for licensed electrologists, who began adding laser hair removal to their practices in the late 1990s, Nuland said.

"The argument was that the field of electrolysis would become extinct if they weren't allowed to do (laser hair removal), " Nuland said.

Judy Adams, the legislative liaison for the Electrolysis Society of Florida, said electrologists are the only group that is well regulated by the state to do the procedure. Electrologists must take 360 hours of training and an additional 30-hour course in the use of lasers, said Adams, an electrologist who practices in St. Augustine.

"But nobody is requiring physician assistants or nurses or physicians to do that, " she said. "There's a huge gap in training."

Nurses are not permitted to use lasers for hair removal unless they become licensed electrologists and take the necessary laser training, said Anthony Jusevitch, an administrator with the Florida Board of Nursing.

Doctors as diverse as ophthalmologists and obstetrician-gynecologists have gotten into the business of removing hair with lasers, but the state does not spell out what training they must have.

According to the Florida Department of Health, most of the 226 complaints involving laser hair removal filed in the last decade were against physicians, said Cozart, the agency spokeswoman. Forty-seven involved electrology, she said.

A study by Dr. Kathleen Gilmore, national medical director for American Laser Centers, found problems occur rarely _ fewer that one-tenth of 1 percent of all cases. The findings were presented this month at a meeting of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Piecuch, the American Laser executive, said the centers have done more than 650, 000 treatments.

"It's a relatively new industry and most states have not spoken very carefully about what is required. We have decided as a company that we take the safest and most rigorous view, " he said. "We want to be sure we don't run afoul of Florida law."

I have been going to ALC for quite some time now and have recieved over 10 treatments so far... I think, I really can't tell anymore because of the erradic way they schedule these appointments. I am getting a full body laser hair removal done and am not seeing much, if any results! I've gotten atleast 4-5 treatments already on each part of my body if you count them seperately! What I hate is how the machine and settings and also tech is always different every time I come in. Some days it hurts like the worsed and some days I can't tell if they've even started. Luckily... no scarring or burning, and since I'm prone to hyperpigmentation... luckily no darkening of the skin. But that is all probably because they're basically using "potty training" lasers, so to speak. I've paid 7000 dollars so far for a "package deal" they said. WTF kinda deal is this bull crap. I'm already a year and a half into this crap and havnt seen ANYTHING!

I really need to know how I can make sure I get my money back and where can I go to get better laser hair removal for my full body at possibly the same or better rate. Any tips anyone? Please tell me where I can complain to get a real full refund! Any possibilities I can take this thing to court? Ofcoarse, I have not been burned...but the pain is not like they stated on their website or fliars...it is not a pinch! It feels like being repetitively slapped with a hot rod! I haven't gotten any results at all! I keep saying 40% cause the [censored]'S at the center keep making me say it...it's like "or else" with the way they talk to you.

Please anyone... if you could just point me in the right direction to find a solution and get my money back and get good full body laser hair removal done where the techs dont change around and neither do the machines... where the computers arent always busted and where you can actually manage to get a tech on the line for more then 5 minutes at a time... where atleast the tech knows what she's doing rather than asking you whether you "remember" what setting you were on or what machine you used last time? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME! IM SO DESPERATE IM CRYING!

It's been months since I filed my complaint with BBB and yep, I got my letter yesterday from them saying they have not been able to get in contact and ALC is not responding to their attempts.

I've had 11 sessions, 4 of them being double-passes where they do everything twice. I've gotten 3 blisters on 3 different sessions. I have less than 50% hair reduction, and I'm $6, 000 poorer.

I complained when I went in for my last session and they went through my file and cancelled that day's appointment and said they'd contact HQ and then it'd be on HQ to offer me a refund or a credit. IT's been 3 weeks. I called my location and they still haven't gotten a response from HQ. I have a feeling the best they're going to offer is a credit, and they have absolutely NOTHING I want.

American Laser Skincare fraudulent and an embarrassing!

I went to an Wellness Expo in Addison where American Laser Center had a booth set up. I filled out one of their forms to receive information regarding their services. Later that week I received a call from them saying that I had won some money that could go toward a treatment. They said if I came in within two days I would receive additional money to go towards a treatment. I am an medical aestheticisms but my office did not have the laser that does the skin tightening so I decided to go for a consultation. At the consultation their representative told me that their laser would do the skin tightening so I decided to give it a shot. I paid $1000 at that time and scheduled my appointment. I was supposed to pay the remaining amount before my last treatment. I called to reschedule my appointment for my first treatment due to scheduling conflicts. I received no return phone call. It has now been two months and still no appointment. During this time I decided to research their company because their behavior was so unprofessional. I found out that many people have had similar experiences and the reputation is that of deceit and fraud. I also found out that they don't even have the 1320 hand piece for the laser that does the skin tightening. So I was lied to and now no response from them. I plan to seek legal counsel and am embarrassed that businesses like this are allowed to continue to do business. They are a disgrace to the aesthetic industry. Definitely a chop shop! I am surprised their laser techs are not offering breast augmentation with an ice pick and some helium!

I was very excited to find a place near my home that offered a wide variety of laser and aesthetic treatments. My enthusiasm was quickly crushed when I entered their facility. I arrived on time, and then ended up waiting for 30 minutes prior to being seen. The consultation was really a contract signing party. I was talked into treatments I didn't want, a credit line attached to my social security number, and an obligation for a contract I should have never signed. I was promised the world (but not in writing) just so I would sign their no-refund policy long-term contract.
This experience has been horrible. I hope everyone is aware of how horrible, incompetent and unprofessional this company is to work with.

I spent 400 at this place. Hair removal upper lip and it did not work. Was told I would not be issued a refund despiste the fact I had adverse effects to the laser. Then after traveling to my local clinic 10 minutes away. They call to tell me that my next appointment is cancelled due to this clinic clsing. The next clinic a mere 44 miles 56 minutes away. The tell me how equsite their clinic is yet I did not get my post treatment lotion until 3 mos. into services. They were very unprofessional and my appoinment was never taken on time. They told me that even though I now had to travel I still could not get a refund. DO NOT DO IT! It is a waste of money and they are ***!

DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID at American Laser in Virginia Beach!
After the series of not such good events in my life, I thought I’d treat myself to something extra ordinary! Getting rid of the HAIR FOREVER sounded like just what I needed. Thrown in a “congratulations! You won!” certificate, great sales person who promised results in 6-10 treatments, multiple packages discount, finance plan, no more shaving … I felt I owed this to myself. I was sold (full legs, underarms, Brazilian bikini)! Over $4400.00, 17 treatments, and three years later here I am finding myself still waxing and shaving! What a SCAM! What a LIE! And the manager won’t even return my phone calls! I guess her job is done, why would she; they got what they needed-$$$ They do not offer any kind of refund, nor additional treatments to fix “the broken” product! I was offered to pay discounted price for maintenance! What a joke!

American Laser Center has the worst customer service department. I'm tired of reading responses from ALCPartner telling people who are complaining to call the 800 number. I've left numerous messages and no one has responded. There isn't even a live person to take the call--you are automatically transferred to a "general" voicemail. Even after emailing, the customer service rep who automatically responded to the email saying they will contact you shortly (yeah right) leaves the same general phone number. I'm on my way to hiring a lawyer and contacting the BBB.

I worked for ALC Tulsa, OK [protected] as a laser technician. I was put on temporary leave (fired) because they "had to cut down on employee's and hours during the 'slow season' and told I would be needed back to work as soon as business picked back up. I was due for a paycheck and called and called about it and just ignored. After about 3 weeks of getting nowhere and still unpaid, I called an attorney and tried to contact the store and the doctor, only to find out the company disappeared from town. I can only imagine all of the patients and customers that paid a lot of money for treatments and promises of results that were never fulfilled. I You may contact me if you'd like.

They are a scam, I paid thousands of dollars for laser hair removal with absolutely no results after going once a month for over a year. The "nurses" are very unprofessional and they never have my information correct (even though it's all stored in a computer right in front of them). I finally stopped going after so many times and never once seeing a bit of improvement. Wish I had researched ALC BEFORE signing the contract, a big waste of time and money! I never write reviews but hoping this helps at least one person not sign up with them.

I have bee receiving laser hair removal treaments for almost two years with no hair growth loss. I actually believe I have more hair growth. I initially reported my concerns about one year into the treatment and was told that I had to complete the full two years before anything would be done. I knew this wouldn't end in my favor. A new manager came on board and I expressed my concerns to her after I sent an email complaint to corporate (of course corporate didn't respond they sent my complaint to the office I had issues with?). This manager took pics as requested and sent it to corporate. they felt the pics weren't good and didn't show evidence of no hair growth loss. They are offering additional 6 treatments (that haven't worked the past two years) because they don't have any initial pics prior to starting treatments for comparison. Why didn't they take pics intially? Is this my fault? I asked for the name of the regional director and they wouldn't give me her full name. The regional director was supposed to call me but didn't. 24hrs passed and I was told she was sick and she would call within a week. No call ever. I showed up for a scheduled visit and was told the regional director was no longer in that position and I would have to wait until a new regional director was hired?!#@$!@#! Are you kidding me? There is always an interim director appointed. This is soooo not over!

American Laser Skincare unsafe practice, facial burn, failure to respond, no refund!

On January 28, 2006 both my sister and I met with Annie at the American Laser Center in Dearborn, MI to discuss permanent hair removal. During this consultation we were told that the hair removal was complete and permanent after 6 treatments, but that we would receive treatments until all hair was permanently removed. After the permanent hair removal was complete, we would be given any necessary follow up treatments if hair growth returned.

When filling out the questionnaire I found a Contraindication section that listed several medical conditions. I spoke with Annie about two of my medical conditions, Lupus and Hereditary Motor Sensory Neuropathy (a condition which affects nerve sensation in my arms and legs similar to a diabetic neuropathy). Annie said that there was absolutely no problem giving me the laser treatments with either of these conditions. Annie pointed out that the contradiction section does not say it won’t treat a person with those conditions.

I received regular treatments from early February 2006 through March 2007 and began expressing my concern that I was not seeing any reduction in hair growth to the technician during my visits. During my treatment on March 23, 2007 a new laser was used for my facial hair. This treatment left me with a scar from a severe burn on my upper lip.

On my subsequent visit on April 13, 2007 I arrived for my appointment and went through the normal questions about whether I have had any changes in my medications or medical situation and my answer was the same as always. At that time Ashley asked me again whether I have been diagnosed with Lupus. My answer was that yes, they strongly suspect Lupus, and my medical tests do indicate this diagnosis, but that there is no positive Lupus test. I was informed that the American Laser Center does not treat people with Lupus, and that even without Lupus, I should never have even been treated with my nerve disease.

Ashley spoke to a nurse and was given approval to treat me again. But by this time I had done more research and realized the danger I was placed in by receiving the treatments in the first place. I spoke to Michelle, a nurse with the American Laser Centers, and we discussed my situation. She did not feel comfortable that with my medical background that I ever should have been treated. I was told that she was referring my case to the legal department and I would be contacted.

I have tried contacting the American Laser Center numerous times and if anyone even answers the phone to me, I am always promised a call back. I was told about 5 weeks ago by a person in the legal department that I would be offered a refund of my “unused amount.” I told her that I was not satisfied with that resolution. I explained to her that I had told Annie about my diagnosis during my consultation and was told that it was no problem, that I have not had any reduction in hair growth, my health was put in danger for 14 months, and I have a scar on my top lip from the last treatment I received. She stated this was new information and she promised to get right back to me.

I have given the American Laser Center 3 months to respond and I feel that I have been more than patient. I paid $6000 for the treatment and I feel at a minimum they owe me a complete refund. I STRONGLY urge anyone who is considering doing business with American Laser Centers to use extreme caution. Their hands are out when they want your money, but afterwards they do not care about their patients.

I am currently receiving services w/ AMC and I don't have any major complaints. I knew that there was no guarantee when I decided to get the service. I do think the things that have happened to everyone is horrible. It seems like everyone has a problem with the laser hair removal and I am so glad I read this because I was considering buying my boyfriend a giftcard from there for his b-day to have laser hair removal. However, a friend and I receive microdermabrasion (spell check) treatments and it has been going good so far. I haven't seen the results that I wanted to see but I have noticed fewer outbreaks. The service is working wonderful for my friend, her skin looks beautiful. I think something as simple as micro is fine for them to do but I wouldn't let them touch me w/ a laser!

The experience i had at ALC was not pleasent... i went in to do my research with ALC and i wasn't completely sure if i should do business with them but i gave them a chance since i "thought" it was a good deal . the lady whose name i will mention so everyone could be awear of how Disrespectful and Deciving she is... anyway i called the following day to cancel service with them and this person inform me that i wont be allowed to get my money back... I was NEVER informed that they had a no refund policy... Even if you NEVER had any treatment done. In my eyes you should mention that before payments are made. During our first meeting i was asking ALL the question and she was very unsure with her answers . She failed to cover the important details... When i call she would be extremely rude with me! She hang up the phone in my face, she has her coworkers say she's off when i know she's their (cause she just hung up the phone in my face), then her receptionist follow her foot steps and hang up in my face after lying to me cause i ask foe corprat number... I personally wont put up with that behavior... I will go to corprate and after i am granted all my money i will drive to their location and pay them a "friendly" visit. It don't make any since how these people are getting away with this and they don't even delivery good service... If you want good service go to IDEAL IMAGE! That's what i did and i love it! But as far as for American Laser, it's time for us to get together and shut that garbage down! If you resign in Miami DO NOT GO to the ALC Adventure office because they are disrespectful and their ring leader ROCHELLE is the head of it. Ms. Rochelle is a racist, disrespectful and very unprofessional person and should not be in that kind of business. So everyone before signing any papers, just run!

American Laser Skincare dangerous, unprofessional, unethical!

I was suckered into a chin/upper lip contract at alc because i, like everyone else, was a "third place winner" in their online system that offers everyone $300 off a package. I was told I had nothing to lose since I could also stop treatment and get a refund. Plus, it's guaranteed to work.

Four treatments passed with a lot of pain and no results. I was told at every single one "don't worry, it takes at least one more treatment until you see results. "

At my fourth treatment, the hot pain shot through two of my teeth so badly that I involuntarily jumped up and screamed. The tech sort of apologized and kept going. Every time was increasingly more painful and I dreaded treatments.

Finally, after seven treatments with no results whatsoever, I called in a complaint. It took several months and two more complaints to receive a response.

The first thing the rep said when she called was that they'd be happy to send me to another clinic, and that I should get other areas done! I said no way, it's too painful and it didn't work. She said "we'll put you on the intensive program, it will surely work. " again I said no thank you. I felt misled and that the techs had been uncaring and rude.

Of course she said the original clinic manager had lied to me, and naturally she had long since quit the clinic, so there was no way to prove what she had told me about getting a refund.

I can no longer eat anything sweet or drink anything cold. I had to beg the dental hygenist halfway through my teeth cleaning to stop because the pain was so unbearable.

Alc said there's nothing they can do to help me because they've never heard of this happening before (Of course not!). They wished me luck and said I should consider getting other areas done.

Please avoid them! It's been months since I haven't had pain in my teeth.

Stay away from American Laser. They are nice to you, until you buy their packages of treatments, after that they are a big zero in customer service including their 1877 number.

I was getting foto facials and they ruined my face! Be aware, that they do not care if your taking legal procedure against them.

Not only I bought $5000 worth of treatments (at this point I didn't know how bad they were) no one has called me back to fix the mistake the made and it's now been over 1 year and I'm still trying to get someone to fix this problem.

Unfortunately, I am stuck with a big white spot on my face, my dermatologist said they killed my pigmentation (the color of my skin) and the color will never come back.
My face is ruined because of America laser.

Not only that, but the laser hair removal service promises you hair removal and I still have hair after 2 yrs and I'm not a hairy person!

I've been to 3 different clinics and one is worst than the other. Miami, New York, north California

Do not buy anything from American Laser Nationwide

I agree with you 100%. I have been a patient of this company for a year now and have seen little results. I had an appointment last evening and was burned severely. I have scars on my chin and underarms. I am no "delicate flower" as indicated by Bethany above. I do plan to take action!

Good Luck to you, J Frye as well as all the others victims out there!

This is in response to the person who had their upper lip hair lasered. I had my upper lip, my chin, my side burns and my under arms lasered and all it felt like was like , at times, a small needle with some slight heat. You must be an awfully delicate flower. To say you couldn't eat certain foods or taste them well i'm sorry but medically speaking I really don't believe that can happen. The pain was not that bad whatsoever. I had been waxing for years all those areas and more. The "pain" or rather discomfort I experienced above my lip was over in a matter of seconds. It was over quickly. One day I had all areas lasered all at once it took less than 30 minutes. The results are working on me. Being waxed in your bikini area and under arms is infinitly much more painful than being lasered! and It doesn't last! You sound like a Drama Queen ... The electrolosis process does hurt more also. I'm very feminine and don't like pain but for pete's sake it was only laser not neurosurgery.

Suck it up.

I've had hair removel done with this company and I am always treated good and they are very professional every time with my treatment! And with other patients there when I have gone up there for my treatments. I'm almost hairless. My treatments are going alittle faster then my friends and family that are going there, and they are very happy with there treatments as well!
Like they said before, some areas take a little while then others . My under arms and lower legs are done and Bikini area are done too. I love there microderms that follows with there product facial treatment.
I'm sorry to hear that some people are having a tough time with this experience.

If this is all true, I would bet 1-2 phone calls would line you up with 20+ trial attorney's ready to "defend your rights" / make a buck.

They'd probably do it on contingency too! Sorry to hear about your injury. Good luck.
