customer service and extra payments
I made an extra payment online last month and they actually took the interest off of it! I called customer service and after being hung up on after the first call was told that when I want to make an extra payment I have to call and let them know! This means I have to call, type in my acct number, sit there for who knows how long waiting for someone to answer, then give the representative the acct. number that I just typed in plus my name, WHOLE address, phone number, and last 4 of my social. All just to tell them that I made an EXTRA payment online so I wont be charged interest on it. I asked why they didn't just include that as an option online and was told to leave a message with the survey after she got off the line. I waited 10 min listening to the music and then was hung up on AGAIN!

poor service, inefficiency
I had nearly $16, 000 in a Money Market at Ally, yet they bounced a $950 check! When I called to complain, it took them 10 minutes to even locate the check (at first they said there was no record of it). Then they put me on hold for another 10 minutes and came back on to say they had no idea why that had happened. And that they would call me back. That was 3 or 4 days ago and they have not called. I have also sent 2 secure emails (using their site). They have not responded to those either. Stay away. The little bit of extra interest that they pay is NOT worth the hassle.

poor customer service
From my letter to Ally Bank: If anything goes wrong, beware!
OK. When I called in to check on something yesterday, I got my social wrong. Shoot me. I’m old. So, my account was totally blocked and I was told that “someone” would call me within 48 hours. 48 hours? Is that a joke. There was “nothing” that could be done by the phone people. “Someone” would call me in a day or two. Nearly 24 hours after all of this, a Cathy from loss prevention called. I went through the song and dance with her and was told I was unblocked. Everything was operational. No qualifications. Fine. I then try to sign on and I am told I am blocked. So, I call in again. The phone person consulted with other people and told me it can 24 hours for the system to update. 24 hours? I then get put through to someone called Jerry who tried to sort this out. Nope, he says. I have to wait until your systems update at midnight before I get access to MY $20, 000. I reckon I have wasted an hour on the phone and on hold, not to mention the hassle of not having access to my money. You have inconvenience me no end.
The little bit of extra interest I get is not worth the inconvenience. Once I am unblocked I am going to close the account and bank locally. And add my comments to a growing stream of negative online comments about your bank. I have my local bank manager’s home phone and I won’t have to wait 48 hours for “someone” who supposedly there for me 24/7 to work through you disjointed and user unfriendly systems and technology.
I did marketing before I retired. You caring “message” is seriously at odds with your reality. And that will, in time, impact your business base. Perhaps you should spend less money on advertising and more on your staffing level and technology. But then I suspect growth, not true customer service, is your mission. You already have too many customers and too few staff. I suspect your “bank” is a number of disjointed work centers and that your technology is seriously out of date. But, hey, you pay a little more interest.
Thanks for the memories. It’s been real.

ally auto took possession of my dodge avenger
Ally Auto took possession of my 201 Dodge Avenger in late January 2012 because of delinquent payment. I obtained the information to get my car back and came up with the amount to bring the payments current. I contacted the Company and worked out the details to get the car back, which I had to go to Denver, Colorado to pick it up after sending in the payments. When I arrived to pickup the car it was not ready to pickup even though I called ahead and told them I was on my way to ;pick it up. After many deliberations with the Ally representative they finally went and found the car and had me sign papers to release it from their lot.
There was this $36.00 payment they said that would wave that fee, I was not told what the $36.00 was for, only presumably it was for detailing the car, which they had not done. When I picked up the car they took pictures of it inside and out, however the car was filthy dirty on the outside and on the windshield and rear window.
There were some numbers painted on the windshield, needless to say the numbers on the window were where they were hindering my view for driving the 65 miles back to Fort Copllins, CO. It was about 15 miles down the road before I could find a gas station to try to get the numbers off the windshield. The numbers had to be literally scrapped off with a razor blade.
I am disputing the $36.00 charge for which I received a statement in the mail saying I had to pay it, when in fact they had told me they were waving that charge when I picked up the car. Ally kept calling an harassing us that we owed the money and wouldn’t tell us what it was for, my wife went ahead and paid it so they would stop harassing us over that payment. I am disputing that charge!
credit trashing
My handicapped brother purchased a car and had to deal with Ally Financing. From day 1 he tried to get them to pro-rate his payment date to the 4th of every month. Instead they set his payment date on the 20th of every month. He called and begged for them to pro-rate his payment and add the pro-rate amount to his next payment and make his payments fall on the 4th. That's when he gets his Disability Payments. They never attempted to help him in any way and he begged and pleaded for close to 4 years.
Because they never took the time to assist him in this simple matter they trashed his credit the entire time. Even though he made his payments when he could on the 4th. He was deemed late every month. now he is trying to get a buy-out loan and can't because they would not change his payment schedule from the 20th to the 4th. What kind of company does that!? This company! They are supposed to be understanding and try to assist when people have problems. My brother tried to get them to change his date and they just agreed but then ignored him and never changed it. Now he is struggling to try to find a company to finance his buy-out and can't. He has no money to put down and very soon he will have no vehicle. This company should have been dissolved when they needed public money to help them survive. Shame on them for not helping a handicapped man on a fixed income. His credit states he was late every month but paid on the 4th which always included a late fee. But they still refused to assist him but very willing and ready to trash him. Shame, shame on them!

trying to get my ira transferred from them to another place.
I have an IRA with Ally. Since the beginning of April I have been trying to get it transferred to another institution. Customer service at Ally has been extremely poor! Every time I call or email I get a different set of answers. I don't think that they want to transfer my IRA. I have finally gotten them to agree to send a "new" check since the last one never materialized, but I keep sending them the correct address and they keep verifying a different one. I am very frustrated with them and I would never recommend as a bank because if there is a problem NO ONE can help you.
they just give your money away and send you an email afterwards
BEWARE of "ALLY BANK" (originally GMAC BANK-went broke and cost the taxpayers money) They're a bunch of [censored]ES. I had a 5 year CD that was nearly $100, 000.00 and received an email today telling me "We closed your High Yield CD - 60 Month account ending in 6952. If you have any questions, please give us a call". I called them immediately and asked "WHY WAS MY ACCOUNT CLOSED WITHOUT ANY ADVANCE NOTIFICATION?" The idiot I spoke with knew from nothing. I "suspected" that it was my wife, that I'm in the process of divorcing because she's a thief. However, the CD had two more years to go at a high rate and I didn't think even she was THAT STUPID. I could have closed it at any time since I AM THE PRIMARY on the account, but I didn't think they would close an account and change the address at the same time with NO NOTIFICATION! In order for her to close the account she would have had to CHANGE THE ADDRESS FIRST, which I "thought" I had their electronic notification if ANYTHING was changed or there was ANY attempted withdrawals. The joke here is that when I call them, they want to ask me 100 questions that even I don't know the answer to, yet, they'll give my money to anyone...and tell me what they did AFTERWARDS.
The [censored] didn't even ASK ME if "the person" that called them on the phone was ACTUALLY the SECONDARY owner. For I (or they) knew, it was just a thief that stole someone's identity. They hadn't even sent the check yet and I asked them to FREEZE THE ACCOUNT. They REFUSED to do ANYTHING!
ALLY BANK is the WORST BANK I've ever dealt with. The only bank that even comes close in stupidity is Amtrust Bank (aka-Ohio Savings Bank and/or New York Community Bank) They're another bunch of thief losers that swindled my daughter and changed a mortgage commitment at closing and she was afraid to walk out because they told her she would lose her deposit. But that's another loser bank story.
Getting back to ALLY BANK, thanks to their extreme help, I closed a money market account that had nearly $100, 000.00, because my money just isn't safe with "ALLY BANK" So now they've got nothing...like me! I asked them WHO THEY'RE GOING TO SEND THE 1099 to...since "someone changed the address to steal the money". Naturally, they said that I'm the "primary" account holder and they will use MY Social Security number (there ought to be a law!). JUST TAKE MY ADVICE AND DON'T DEAL WITH "ALLY BANK"...even if they give you 10x the going interest rate, you'll NEVER SEE THE MONEY. It could just as easily be a thief, I still have NO CONFIRMATION or know what actually happened...and they could care less.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I've been an Ally customer for approximately 4 months.
During that period, my place of employment has attempted to direct deposit my paychecks into Ally, but the deposits were rejected. I then tried to e-check deposit my paychecks...which Ally held for 12 days EACH time before depositing. In the mean time, I had checked and double checked and triple checked that the account information that was being used was correct. Each time I called Ally I was subjected to yammerings about account numbers that I've confirmed and hold times I find excessive, given the fact that it's a salary check for the same amount every two weeks. But, I figured it would all be fine when the direct deposit issue was fixed.
After five attempts, my accounting department said "Good news, your deposit has been accepted!" and I was so happy. But on deposit day, my money wasn't in my account. My pay stub said "This is not a check" and Ally said "We don't know where your money is...but it may take us 24 to 48 (business) hours to research it" On a Friday that means I won't hear from Ally until Tuesday, and if they DO find it, I'm sure they'll come up with a reason to hold it for another 12 days.
The worst part...while speaking with a customer service supervisor (almost as useless as a customer service representative, but with a more authoritative sounding title) she indicated that there was no way to further expedite my resolution, as it was a newly opened issue. WTF? I've been calling over and over for months about the same issue. Maybe it's a bit different than the last eight calls, but it still boils down to the same. little. nugget. My direct deposit isn't being deposited and Ally won't give me my money.
The fee-less accounts, the interest, the convenience, the friendly customer service, the e-check deposit...it all sounds fantastic, but BEWARE. You'll continuously call with the same issues. You'll wait weeks for access to your own money and there is no direct line to the resolution center...leaving you at the mercy of friendly, but relatively helpless customer service reps (and supervisors).
I'll be posting this review on every available site for each waking hour that my funds remain missing in some Ally limbo. At the earliest availability I'll be removing my money and marching it straight toward the teller of a better bank...if there is such a thing.
Wish me luck.
stalled funding of cd
On Feb. 22, 2012, I went on-line to open a CD account at Ally Bank. After I filled in all the information I called them to make sure I had completed everything correctly and to ask how to arrange funding. I gave them the acct. number where the money was and the routing numbers. 3 days later nothing had happened. I called back and got firm with the rep and the next day they gave me a funding date and a comformation number. Today Mar. 2nd, the funding date, it still was not funded. When I called they continued to stall me. I used to be a bank branch manager so I know this is absolutely bad customer service! I closed my account and cancelled everything. My advice: Don't ever open an account with Ally Bank
auto lease
If I could re-lease my car through another company, i would! For all those looking to lease or purchase a car from GM, find your own financing.
I started a lease with them January 16th. I made the initial payment ON TIME and they never took it from my account. I called three days after the payment was supposed to have come out of my checking account, and they sited a computer glitch. I demanded the $10 late fee be removed, and they said they could "just this one time". I was not my fault, and the CSR even told me that she saw the payment come out of my checking account, then go back in because of a computer glitch on their end. Sorry Precious (that was her "American" name...bad choice lady) but you suck.
Month 2: I try to make a payment online and i am told that I have to vehicle loans with them. If it wouldn't ruin my credit, then i just would not pay the loan, and print a copy of the webpage to prove to them that I have no vehicle loans with them.
Also, their hours are terrible. What large company has a customer service department that closes at 7 pm? really? really!?!
money scam
In March 2003 I purchased my first vehicle, a 2003 Chevy cavalier with 7 miles on it which was financed by Ally Auto Financing (GMAC). I made on time payments until the end of 2004 in which I lost my job and was unable to make full payments but proceeded to make partial payments which were excepted by GMAC.
In the summer of 2005 I was working at Supercuts when I noticed a man looking at my vehicle. Come to find out he was there to repo it. The cavalier was repoed in July of 2005.
In Jan of 2006 i was served a summons from GMAC. In turn I went to the district court house and filed a response to the summons which was accepted by GMAC and approved by the judge. (I filed indentcy) meaning I was unable to afford further attempts made by GMAC to collect any debt for the said vehicle. The cavalier got auctioned off and it got written off and charged off. I never heard anything further.
In 2009 i was employed by Kroger co. In Jan of 2010 I received a letter from GMAC stating they were going to start garnishments of 75% of all wages made by me and the total amount they are going to take after “interest” is $18, ?.
I’m paid weekly since such decision was made I feel as if I’m working for nothing, everything I make over $300 is taken by them leaving me with a take home balance of $270 to $290. I am a single mother with 2 kids and an apartment with all bills I am trying to keep up.
I find it difficult to care for my kids properly with less and less income coming in. In a sense it feels like double jeopardy. I feel as if they got their money for the vehicle and I should only be charged what is owed.
use of innocent children
Take the commercials which use young children as pawns to a supposed adult trying to teach them a lesson in meaness !? It is a cruel and hurtful ( I am hurt each time I hear it as I race to my nearest "mute" button. These ads were on quite often as I recall, Then, they disappeared for awhile and are now back in force. Remove them, please. Children are cruel enough on their own without being given free lesson by some boob of an actor teaching them how it's done ! Thank you. T. Lawson NY 14450
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You, are, AN, IDIOT. They just want to change the corrupt banking (HEY, if you don't think you're getting screwed by your bank, think again) and are only using the kids as an example. Those kids are probably getting tens of thousands of dollars for being in the commercial. Don't hate them, they're just trying to help.
customer service
Boy...what a mess this company is! First of all, I needed to fax some documents to their bank so I could get my vehicle registered in a different state. I faxed the paperwork on Monday and called Ally Thursday to verify if everything was sent off to the state. The girl on the phone had no idea what I was even talking about. She checked and showed nothing where my faxed was received. I explained to her that I had a fax verification that it went through successfully. Again, she got confused. I verified the fax number with her. After getting know where, I had to speak to someone who actually spoke and understood ENGLISH correctly! After that fiasco, I attempted to set up an account on their website so I could pay my auto payments online. To my surprise (sarcasm) their system was down. Called their IT section and they could not tell me why it wasn't working properly. So now I had to play a 15 dollar charge on top of my current car payment because of their web site foul up. I wish that when GMAC had to be bailed out by Congress, their customers should of had the choice of what bank to pick up the auto loan. The ALLY company is a mess. STAY AWAY!

Ally Bank is the worse bank out there in today financial market. Before Ally took over Gmac I never had a problem until they turned over. Every time I called customer service it was a very unprofessional conversation. However, this was minor until my final payment in which was the worse experience ever and still going through problems. Before my last payment I called to make an arrangement. To my surprise they already had a repossession on my vehicle. Mind u it's my last payment. They came to my house and said they was repo but did not ask for me who is the owner of the car. They asked for my husband car and to my surprise I went down in the morning for my car and it was gone. Immediately I called back and they was quick to give me the redemption office which is also Ally and they were closed for the weekend. Monday came and I called to retrieved my car and again very nasty. They told me of this large payment to pay which was incorrect but they stressed the payment and told me if I don't pay it they will move my car and increase another payment. Immediately I made the full amount and called euthanasia the confirmation and they told me that I cannot get my car because I need new Plates. I knew it was a scam with Ally because someone else got on the phone and said the person did not make it to the dmv. I told therm I am picking up my car the next day and they told me a another story about why I didn't give my keys to the repo man. The nerve and started talking nasty about my husband. My experience is not over because I took off from work and went to pick up my car which I was charged an additional cost. This is going to court. Days went by I checked my credit report and Ally have me as a public record and repossession on my credit report. I am now furious. I called Ally and they told me I did not make the payment bad I am still in their system as non payment. I continue calling Ally and They are transferring me to every department. When I asked why my account is not online the customer rep hung the phone up on me. I am suing Ally and want to know if anyone had or is having the same problem with this fraud Bank called Ally.
My auto salesman told GM to cancel our insurance and they sent Ally a check to put the amount on my account and they sent the money back to G.M. I am on Auto Pay and someone cancelled it for a month and no one who works at Ally can explain to me what happened. This bank has some big problems. The head man I talked to, Leonardo, said he would call me back, I told him I was senior and needed this straighten out and he promised me he would call back... It has been over a month, no call, no letter, no explanation! Now my auto dealer is sending me the check with Ally name on it so lets see if they can put it on my account and do their job. Kay Dahlke
duplicate withdrawal - unauthorized
Ally bank took TWO wire transfer withdrawals (a duplicate) from my Credit Union, when I only approved one. To make matters worse, this caused an OVERDRAFT and overdraft fee by my CU. And now it just so happens to be month end, when all automatic bill pay will be also debiting my account.
It is VERY unsettling that as of this time NEITHER of the transfers are showing up the ALLY site. So I guess I am just expected to TRUST they will be there on Monday, which will make for a very unsettled weekend. According to customer service it takes 3 days to show up. Having DOUBLE my money in limbo is creating much stress for me. On my ALLY accounts I only show the one *Pending* transfer. If I had initiated TWO, would there not be TWO pending transfers?
Also according to customer service it takes FIVE days to send the money back. FIVE WORKING days. That is totally unacceptable when it was their mistake, and as we all know wire transfer can be done in one DAY.
I opened this CD to test how ALLY would do and I guess I don’t have to tell you that ALLY FAILED is the outcome of that test. I had planned on making a much larger deposit, but now I am very thankful I did not, or I would be financially bankrupt when my monthly bills are due. When I think of the consequences of that I get very upset.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
They closed my CD account with nearly $100, 000.00 and sent me an email afterwards. While I "believe it was my thief wife, I still don't know because ALLY wasn't interested.
over charged at the end of lease termination
I am a former gmac customer and have never been charged for any additional wear and tear. When gmac switched over to ally by no choice of mine they have mailed me a final lease termination bill for the amount of $1221.56, which included $171.00 for a tiny little scratch, 59.70 for over mileage, 660.86 for 2 payments of $330.43, and $313.86 in lates fees which adds up to this amount. I have called Ally in regards to this bill and disputed the amount for the small scratch $171.00, and the late fees which add up to #313.86. A representive named Karen called me in response to my dispute and stated I owed over $1600.00 and she will settle the acount for $1400.00. First huge problem to address here is the final bill was $1221.56 in which I disputed the additional charges, and now I come to find out I owe over $300.00 more. I am very upset with the experiences I've had with this company. They are extremely unprofessional and disorganized, they are trying to rip me off and I will not tolerate it. My final bill should only be $660.86 plus overmileage for $59.70 which adds up to no more than $720.56. Please look into my complaint asap I appreciate your time and prompt response. Thank you.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The representative is telling me that I have no rights, that I signed the lease agreement and therefore any damages that are incurred between when I drop my vehicle off and when it is inspected (this was 8 days later), is my responsibility. She also told me there is no dispute process and hung up on me. I am gravely concerned with these business practices as I was given no prior information from my dealer, GM or GMAC (now Ally) about pre-inspection. Furthermore I dropped my vehicle of in Guelph and it was inspected in Ayr 8 days later and they are saying there is a 28-30cm dent in the rocker panel at a cost of $740 plus HST. This was NOT there when I dropped it off, and the end of lease rep at the dealership specifically said she had nothing of significance to note on the vehicle's condition. Who is watching my vehicle during transit and storage? No one, yet I signed off a now uninsured vehicle to a company that is putting the onus on the consumer after they have taken away my rights as an owner. What do I do?
Would love to know what rights I have as a customer to dispute these charges! HELP!
Hi, I am going through the same issue right now, they are trying to rip me off too! They have a picture which is a shadow and they are telling me that is is a dent. I will dispute this until the end, all of their customer service reps are nasty and I am even more upset that I re leasesed with them, if I only knew!
ally - no fax, email or mail confirmation of changes
BEWARE! Leased 2010 SILVERADO thru GMAC - now ALLY - Ally MAILED out incorrect registration information *rec'd by customer 5/9/2011. Stating 2010 SILVERADO registration expires 7/2011 and can no longer be driven after 7/2011, until registration renewed. THE TRUTH IS: The NJ REGISTRATION expires 4/2014! After calling ALLY Customer Service, you cannot speak to ANYONE in the leasing department. (1st call connected to the Phillippines, asked for Supervisor, was given supervisor in Phillipines. Asked to be transfered to USA. USA no different). ALLY took "VERBALLY" the Registration expiration date of 4/2014, they verbally told me the change made in their system! ALLY would NOT fax, email or mail confirmation of the month & year change from 7/2011 to 4/2014. ADVICE: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY WHO CANNOT and WILL NOT DOCUMENT (via email, fax or mail) ANY CHANGE TO YOUR DOCUMENTS **THIS INVOLVES YOUR HARD EARNED $$$$. Cannot imagine giving them money to invest in CD's offered by ALLY...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
fraudulent business practices
After Ally told me I was approved for a home loan, I went ahead and put earnest money down and paid for a home inspection for the home I was approved to make an offer on. These things cost me $2680 and after spending this money Ally changes their mind and tells me I am no longer approved for the home loan. I am now out the $2680 and I am reporting Ally to the Better Business Bureau and I am telling everyone I know not to try and do business with them! I just wish I had read all the other reviews from everyone on here who have been screwed out of money by them! Don't let yourself become another victim of Ally's fraudulent business practices!
I had auto loan with Ally, got hurt at work got behind when workers comp started I got all caught up, I thought 3 month later sent bill for 802.00 $ I called ask what it was for they said repo fee's, I laughed and told them it was not report, then they said they filed paper work at court house, so I went to court house nothing filed called them back told them they are not telling the truth they took 255.00 dollars off, I paid the truck off now I can't get the title for 6 weeks this is the biggest scam Co. Stay away from Ally they will cheat you, I have a law suit against them, now I will get my day, they not good to do business with . Run from them don't get loan with them.
I was approved for a loan deferment on my truck they told me i was approved and to make a partial payment in july then the rest in august i paid the partial and i gor calls form a collection agency saying i was late on my payment they said the person who took my info forgot to follow up and i spent the extra money i hope it goes through but when you call its an overseas number JUST ASK TO TALK TO SOME ONE IN THE STATES ANS THE HAVE TO PUT YOU THORUGH

dishonesty
I had an auto loan through Ally for a 2009 Chev. The truck was wrecked on 1-26-11 and declared a total loss by Shelter Insurance. Insurance got the payoff amount from Ally shortly after 2-11-11, however Ally would not fax, mail, return calls, or cooperate. The amount wasn't able to be paid off until 3-23-11. Then Ally billed me for $78.67 more. Insurance called them on 4-6-11 and Hera, an Ally employee, said that insurance had overpaid by $120.89 and that would be refunded to me, the customer. I called Ally to get that over-payment applied to the balance owing, and Ally had changed their story (two days later) on 4-8-11. They now deny the over-payment and will not answer any of my concerns nor will they let me speak to Hera again. The Ally employee, Hans, hung up on me after 65 minutes on the phone (mostly me on hold). I am filing this complaint because of Ally's dishonesty and failure to use their computers, employees, and information to resolve issues.

Read full review of Ally Financial and 4 commentswrongful repo
My son financed a car through GMAC/Ally about 7 months ago and I co-signed for him. On December 12, 2010 a drunk driver hit him and totaled the vehicle. The car was towed to a storage facility who notified Ally that it was there. We had State Farm requesting the vehicle be towed to a repair shop for visual inspection but when I called the storage yard I was informed that Ally had picked the car up. This was done without notification to myself or State Farm. The loan was always paid on time and never paid late but because Ally picked up the car they listed it as a repo on our credit report. Ally refuses to accept the pay off check from State Farm and each day the interest charges increase. It took over a month for Ally to give State Farm the payoff which only increased it as each day storage fees were being added. Im at a loss as to how this situation can be resolved without an attorney because I get no help from any Ally representative and have been told the repo will not be removed and the payment will not be accepted. I have been turned down for loans because of this and in April 2011 the balloon payment is due to be refinanced on my home. I could lose my home over this!

wrong full repo miscommunication lying from ally about payments receiving other peoples accounts at my address, promising exstensions and not going thru with it records destroyed, stating they receiced no faxes with signatures and then stating it was just lack of communication
I had a very similar situation. GMAC sold my loan to Ally. Due to job lay off i entered into a loan extension agreement. I did everything i was told to do - made the payment and signed the agreement and returned it. I started getting calls demanding payment and threatening repossession. I was in constant contact with the man who approved my loan extension. He repeatedly assured me that i did not owe anything for 3 months and that my loan extension was good and he had no idea who was calling me, told me not to worry. The calls continued demanding payment and denying the extension agreement. And everytime they called i called my rep at Ally who told me i was in good standing and to just ignore the calls. My car was repossessed. When i called my guy he asked me "are you sure it was repossessed? Maybe it was stolen". It took 3 days to find out where my car was and who ordered the repossession. I was on a 3 way call with the department that ordered the repo and the department that set up the extension agreement. I listened to these 2 jerks yell at each other arguing over what happened. I hired an attorney and sued Ally. If you want a copy of my complaint i would be happy to share it with you. Our tax dollars bailed GM out and now they are screwing us. My lawyer found other instances of wrongful repo by Ally and is seeking punitive damages. They countersued me for the balance of the loan. Yet they never even followed the rules and did not even give me an opportunity to make good. They sent fake certified letters notifying me of the repo - the Certified Delivery seals were embossed on the envelopes but they were sent regular mail and postmarked 30 days after the vehicle was sold. I set up an email address allyfinancialsux@gmail.com so email me if you can help me or if i can help you. I am happy to keep anyone up to date on my case and provide you with copies of the lawsuit papers to help you.
The same happened to me. I tried paying off my payment and they gave me the run around. I was speaking to someone in the Philippines. How is it that a company we bailed out GMAC is using a company that is being investigated for major mortgage fraud. Are there no regulators who see this? I tried paying off my car and every time I call I get a different story. They even stopped recording my calls and now say I never called. They had the wrong address. 3 times I gave them my address and they still have it wrong. The Attorney General has to do something about this. I will never ever buy American cars again because it seems they are the only idiots using this company..
bad service and dangerous web practices
So recently Ally bought or acquired...or whatever GMAC. I was never notified of the change until one day while checking my email I was notified of an outage that occurred on the GMAC (then changed to Ally) website from a company called Ally. I originally thought it was a scam and then after research found out that they had in fact gone from GMAC to Ally. Nonetheless, everything went on pretty much like normal. Then today while reading my email I noticed a weird notice from Ally about my "payment confirmation". I knew I hadn't made a payment online since I am auto pay and that it would have certainly not happened today. After opening the email I discovered the payment confirmation was for a different customer who I didn't know at all. In the email was the customer's first and last name, the last 5 numbers of their account (with stars and dashes which indicate the length and numbering of the account), the date and amount paid and the payment confirmation. Now granted this information won't walk me straight through a log in page but with some social engineering I'm sure someone could have easily called with the confirmation, stated that they couldn't remember their account number but had the last four/five digits, and asked if they could read back the card they used to pay because they think they typed it incorrectly yadda yadda. So then I got concerned that if I received this email...who might have received mine? How many others are affected. It had been a full 11 hours since the email was sent out with no outreach by Ally regarding anything likes. So I thought...maybe I was the only one. I decided to call Ally to let them know of the issue in case it could affect others. I had to call 7 times before I got connected to someone. Every time I called it would tell me that customer service was too busy taking calls due to their "new website" and would hang up on me! It was ridiculous...here I had a security risk and I couldn't even get a hold of a customer service representative. I looked at their site...no online chat, no email contact, just snail mail. Crazy! Finally, on the final try I got into the customer service cue. I would have sat there all day if I had to to get this security concern addressed. When I finally got a hold of someone I was told that they were aware of the issue and "not to worry about it". I didn't feel comfortable at all with the discussion and was surprised that if they were aware of it they hadn't sent out an email letting customers know about the situation and what to do if they are concerned. I kept pushing the concern I had with the CR and finally she asked if I'd like to be called back when they have the issue resolved. I of course said certainly. At that point she called the whole phone call resolved and asked me to stay on the phone for a survey. I skipped out on taking the survey.
Maybe I'm overreacting but I take the transferring of information very seriously as I am a web administrator and developer. All it takes is a CR not following the strict procedures and a little social engineering to get someone access to your bank account with the information "accidentally" sent to me.
PLEASE, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE ALLY AUTO. PAID MY MONTHLY CAR PAYMENTS FOR THREE YEARS NO PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I DECIDED AT END OF MY LEASE TO DROP IT OFF AT DEALERSHIP, I SENT IN ODOMETER REPORT TO THEM 6 TIMES AS THEY "NEVER GOT IT" AND PAID MY PAYOFF. ITS BEEN 2 MONTHS, STILL MY CREDIT REPORT THEY STILL HAVE IT ON IT, AND NOW THEYRE TELLING ME IT WON'T COME OFF REPORT UNTIL THEY SELL CAR AT AUCTION! I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING...HARD TO UNDERSTAND CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE AND I HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO BE SOLD.
I will never use them again, had a problem with one of my accounts after 4 years for one later payment was corrected later fee was removed, but still reported it to my credit report, after so many e mails and calls they well nit do anything to remove, all they tell my the it was 30 days late and they cannot or will not done anything about, so much for customer sevicer
I will Never, mark my words, never deal with Ally Financial again. I've never complained about a company in my 42 year lifetime, until now. They mistakenly ruined my credit, now they are trying to say I owe them $2200 after completing our lease agreement for "wear and tear." I cleared the car with GMC and Ally still came back with these unreasonable fees.
Now after reading so many other similar complaints I can safely say, Ally, you have taken up way too much of my time and energy.
No more...

"Again, thinngs went along well for the next year and a half. But during that time I had a double by-pass heart operation. Then I was in a serious accident where my girlfrien of 65 yrs was killed and her daught was put into a wheelchair for the remaining of her life. During all of this, THERE was no payment missed. In December 2012 I developed double pneumonia which lasted until the den of January 2013. During which time my Mother (94) passed away on January 19. Was unable to attend."
Perhaps you could qualify your bad luck with proof that the above is true. Didn't you claim your son had died in a motorcycle accident so you could get a cheaper flight to Quebec City, and in fact, had his obituary published by the Welland Tribune, when in fact your son was alive and his prognosis was good? I suspect you are lying about some, if not all of the circumstances, that led to your difficulties with Ally.
Idiots...on the phone calling 10x a day...they need customers services skills and compassion...they sound like a credit card company. Never again!
We bought our car in April of 2010, everything was going well until I had to have surgery. We asked Ally for a hardship due to the fact my wife's hospital bill was over 100, 000 dollars and we do not have insurance. They gave us a hard time, but after 2 hours with them on the phone they gave us a month hardship. Then about 1 year later, I was told by a representative of Ally that I can split my car payment into 2 payments in a month to help us will the $400.00 plus car payment . I did this and they reported my car loan late on my credit report. I called the Ally and the woman on the other end said to me, "you cant do this, who told you that you can do this, and to get your finances straight". I thought that was rude of this woman to say this to me. So, in 2013, I called to find out if we can get our interest rate lowered (13.5%). The person told me that "they would not lower my rate". I explained to this representative that I live in USDA housing, I have a disabled wife and step son with Autism. The representative laughed and still said no. Do not get an auto loan from this business.
Ally is Paul Blanco it's a set up digital finance system supposed to act in real time real people but hard to do an all this se complaints he gets same ads same [censored]
Trying to deal with Ally is a terrible experience. I bought a 2008 Saturn Astra, Black Sapphire at Saturn North Bay, Ontario Canada. The total price for this car was $25, 660.90, 0% interest over 72 months. Things were going along very well with payments of $356.40. Then in July of 2011 I fell into some financial difficulties and went to a Credit Councillor. I was constantly in touch with Ally through all and finally asked the for a 2 month extension. It was approved and I had to pay $217, 00 in addition to my payments. Which remained at 0% . Again, thinngs went along well for the next year and a half. Was unable to attend. I was able still to keep my payments up to date and on time util the end of March 2013, Then I got in touch with Ally (Cheryl Tizzard) my representative and asked for another extension and possible have my payments lowered. I was told NO to the exentions, but the could write up a new contract, but interest would now be applied. So I agreed to $277. a month for the next three years. The payments were to start June 28/13 and end June 28/16. However, this is where the problem lies. When the new contract arrived for me to sign, IT WAS TERRIBLY WRONG. It did not match up with the original sales contract, my sale price was $25, 660.90 andTHEY HAD THEIR OWN SALE PRICE OF $26, 040.40. I first contacted my credit advisor (Steven Agius) and explained to him what had occurred, I the couriered the 2 contracts down to him at Ontario Consumers Credit, which is located in Brampton Ontario, He got back to me and told me not to sign their contract as it was wrong. So I did as I was told to do. This contract was sent back and forth three times. Still not right. I should mention that the balance of the original contract from August 28 was $8910. Now UP TO DATE as of August 7th 2013. My car was repossessed and taken down to Brampton. Ally had gone back to the old contract which now, put me back three months. I can get the car back for the missed three payments and whatever extra monies might be charge to me. Now I was dealing with the collections department and a a very RUDE/ARROGANT man by the name of Mr Ainsley. Now, I should also say that, Mr Steven Agius was taking all of the problems that had occurred.
It was his suggestion that I don't sign the new contract and there is a law in place that. ONCE A CAR HAS BEEN 2/3 PAID FOR, IT WAS MORE THE BORROWERS CAR THAN THE LENDER. You can look that up. I fell short of 2/3 law by $153.00. Mr Agius has agreed to retrieve my personal belongings, as OCCA is alos located in Brampton. The whole sad STORY is the fact that I am being treated like a 71 year OLD lady and doesn't need a car anyway. I might also add that I am handicapped and my License is registered to the MTO stating that. Now Mr Ainsley knows that now I can't pay the back payments in one lump and that is the only way he will deal with this issue. I have twenty six days to come up with the money or the car goes to auction. Remember the BALANCE OWING ON THIS CAR IS ONLY$8910. I need my car to get around as I live in a very small town eight hundred people. The ar no buses or taxis. This is a village that consists mosty of seniors. I know this letter is very, very long but I NEED help. On the other hand I have resigned myself to the fact that I will lose the as a resul of Mr Steven Agius' advice, which I discovered at my expense is WRONG. Thank you so much, I hope you can help me in some way Lynda.
I have had financial problems for the past year. I called Ally and asked what they could do. I was connected to a team leader which i thought was a manager. She told me that I could extend my loan for two months and the fee would be $215.66. I told her I did not have it, she said borrow it from someone so i did and paid it on line. Come to find out it was never done and my car was repossessed with no notice what so ever. for being three months late which was only one if they had done their job and did the extension I paid for. This place is unbelievable no one speaks English, they have as much compassion as the wall. When I called to see why the extension was never done I got the run around, I was told until I paid all three months which two were to be extended they were not going to tell me anything. Here is the kicker, The man that towed it away told me not to pay a dime, because they are going to repossess it anyway. Unless it's exactly the amount they want. The harassing phone calls are off the wall and should be illegal any where from 6 - 10 calls per day one day I counted 13. Someone needs to put a stop to their shady dealings, I am angry enough not to let this go. If I have to go to every dealer in the state that I live I will make sure that Ally does not get their business.
I purchased a vehicle over a year ago and decided to payoff the loan. My issue is getting the title in a timely manner.I paid over the monthly payment on time every time, Now they take their time sending me my title so I can sell the vehicle.I have a buyer but has told me If I don't have it within the week they will shop somewhere else for a car. This is absurd this is the 20th day of waiting for the title in the mail and they do not care, I was told now that DMV with a letter from Ally to prove there is free and clear will take another 6 to 8 weeks. What a joke Do Not Do Business With These People, flat out they do not care... I have called and talked with a supervisor and got the same cold shoulder, sir it in the mail. I am pissed off.
this place is looking for lawsuits. they are calling even when they have been told not to. they are calling at 7:00AM.they are hanging up when I try to explain something. they are calling 4 times an hr.
