Signed for an account. I verified phone number and email, which is required for withdrawing funds to a bank account for free via a ACH transfer within a few days. I do want to pay for the instant transfer or funds as that requires a government i.d. and a photo of your face using you phone.
I find their listing process is way too slow, with images being limited to 10MB. By 16 year Canon Rebel camera takes 18MB photos so they are way out of date. Instead of accepting larger sized images and downsizing they force you to downsize images prior to uploading them.
I investigate is the listing process can be quicker via a cross lister like FLYP, but when I attempt to upload a listing it displays a error message stating I must complete another step of verification, which would be the government i.d.
The banks I do business with do not have my i.d. I sold on eBay for 27 years without a i.d., yet somehow Mercari thinks they are going my i.d.
I go to delete the account and their online help gives incorrect answers via their AI. Emails and replies I send to emails are answered by AI and not a human.
I call their toll free number multiple times and finally am told I can't delete the account using desktop computer, but must download their app and delete the account there. I complete the process with the app two times and each time I am logged out of the app. Yet I still log into the account on the desktop computer and app.
I then call them back and they have lied again. You can't delete an account. Deletion to them means that the account is just inactive and if you log in again the account is make active, even though messages you sent them in their help system now use the phrase "inactive user". They do not send you any message that the account is deleted, inactive or warn you about logging in again.
