Woodforest National Bank - former employee

I recently ended my employment with wnb. I could not believe the astronmical fees that they charge!!! I was not familiar with the bank when I accepted a job there. It remined me of a check cashing place. All of the fees went up in february so consummers beware. I cannot believe how much paperwork they give you when you open a new account. I have never seen...

Woodforest National Bank company lies continually

it has tanken over 22 days for them to send a replacement debit card. when I ordered it I was told 7 days then when I called to see why it was not here I was told 10 days. 10 days come and go and still no card I was told that they would send one express mail to the branch and be there the next business day and here it is 3 days later and still no card. Plus there are an increasing number of local business who are not taking their checks even one of the walmarts wont take their checks and the banks are in walmart

i have the same issue. also, they dont' take a financial hit. they don't express mail it for free, of course. the charge is 55 dollars. i think the american banking system right now is rather primitive. they don't have much options and sensitive mail like debit or credit cards should have tracking. it is pathetic.

here is the stupid kicker. they send out debit cards with pin numbers first class but they won't send it out express mail which even has better security or tracking even when you pay for it to a home residence. they only send it to the branch. what backward totally illogical idiocy. i swear, who makes these idiotic rules?

ok to the person above me, have u never made a spelling mistake while typing? I really don't think u should be commenting on spelling. You aren't perfect so sit down and shut up! I personally signed up with Woodforest last week and so far everything seems fine. Just waiting to get my debit cards in the mail. The lady did tell us that we would only be charged an annual fee for one card but we have been charged for both. No biggy because I need this account regardless. It would be way more expensive if it were a credit card!

I do agree that Woodforest Bank is a joke. I also had a bad experience with this so call bank. I had to stand in line for about 45 minutes to deposit money in my own account just to later find out that my deposit was posted to the wrong account. The management there is very unknowlegeable about customer service and banking procedures. The manager appear to think that everything was funny and tried to be humorous about the situation. I was outraged!

Walmart does not own this bank. That bank is like McDonald's - a private vendor inside a public building. You shouldn't get angry because Walmart won't take their checks. You should also understand that it takes time to send things via mail these days and it can take up to 72 hours to "express mail" a debit card and that doesn't even include the financial hit that that bank took so you could get your debit card that fast.

Woodforest National Bank atm took money out of my acc never recive

I used my debit card to withdraw 800.00 dollars out of atm it only gave me 340.00dollars ;but it took the whole $800.00 off my card an no body in the bank newwhat todo thats sad I am out 460. Woodforest National Bank excessive fees

The last time I used the account (12/1/08) that I had for this bank, I had $11.35 in the account. Apparently, due to some fault of my own, a couple of transactions went through, and I was charged $32 in od fees for those transactions. I had no problem with that. My problem came when today I looked at my account balance and it was - $312! The bank charges a $3 fee every day that the account is negative. As of february 1st, the fee went up to $5 every day. I don't know what kind of bank does that to its customers, especially in such a bad economic time. Maybe they feel this is the way to do business. I called the bank and told them that I am only willing and able to pay the $117 in payments and overdraft fees that were originally caused by the transactions that went through. They told me they were only willing to settle at $160. You know, I may just pay the $160 and let it go. The bank is terrible, and the convenience of being inside of a wal-mart does not make up for the amount of fees they charge. No matter how low the amount of your original overdraft was, you will end up with $150 in fees each month if you are not careful. I don't need a bank that I have to babysit with the fear of excessive fees. This is ridiculous.

I am sorry to say, but I feel that you peoples know that these $5.oo aday is too much especially for disable peoples that is on montly income, I realize that we have to pay the insuffient charge, whuch is $34.00 for a charge but how can you pay $5.00 aday when you only get paid once a month, just this month 03-03-2010. I had three withdrawal fron unidentified companys that I had know way of even knowing these people, and they drew three different withdrawal on my account with out my permission and without my knowledge. causing me a tripple charge on my account, plus these $5.00 charges, that I should not be liable for, because, they was not all returned. and refunded. one check was for 19.95+34.00 another was $49.95 +34.00 and another $23.96 +34.00 a total of $205.86. plus these $5.00 was still being charged.I had a 90.00 and a 10.00 check in plus two 34.00 charges making a total of $168.00 I deposit $174. on the 03-03-10.on the 03-03-10 a $105.25 came in. making a total of $139.25.only after 03-11-2010, when the $5.00 aday should have started there is know way that I owe for 38 days. as your clerk stated.I made a deposit on the 03-03-10 and there is not 38 days in a month/ so I know some of these refunds was not refunded and somebody did not turned in those rebuttles and give me credit for them. this is my complaint, you peoples know that this is wronge, but I will leave this with you [God is not sleep he knows, and he sees. your family or home just maybe next. Our bank is 1st Convience Bank in Texas and they charge 34.95 for OD fee plus $2.50 a day for every day you are od after 5 days.

To be honest look around at other banks for their overdraft fees. Woodforrest is actually nicer than most. I had an account through another magor bank (Busey) and they charged $38.00 for an overdraft and $8.00 a day continual overdraft after the 1st day of overdraft. There fees are outlined on the initial paperwork and even if a charge has not gone through thats 3 weeks old that's not there fault and you should be keeping track of how much you take out of your account...to make sure that your not a victim of any identity theft or fruad. Or overdraft your account. It's not the banks fualt for how long it takes for a withdrawl to go through your account. I was an order processor and can tell you most company's do a pre-auth to make sure the funds are there and then they settle their accounts. If your ordering something that has to be sent it should take longer for the charge to go through becuase they shouldn't do the full charge until the item manifests for shipping. Then the charge would be submited that night. These are all things to be taken into account when banking. Choose a bank with diffrent fee rates and dates or one where your savings is an auto back up. But you signed the paperwork when you opened the account.

I am a former police officer in Texas who was seriously injured in the line of duty and was totally disabled for several years. I was finally able to get back to a job and start getting on my feet after relocating from Dallas to East Texas. I opened a checking account at a WoodForest Bank inside the Wal-Mart in Canton, Texas and recieved a MasterCard Debit Card with my account. I used this card a few times and thought I'd found a conveinent bank to help rebuild my life. I had to have a lab test done at a local emergency room and paid my $20 copay with my debit and had plenty of money left I thought. I went to deposit a check in the lobby a few weeks later and was told my check would be held and that I had $136. in overdraft and daily $5. fees because my debit from the ER was $1. over the balance, apparently because a previous debit hadn't been processessed for a couple of weeks and it gave a a false balance for a while. I couldn't believe the exorbitant fee's this bank charged and continues to charge daily. They refused to credit my account and insist they mailed notices which I have yet to recieve. When I asked the main office if they had any way of verifying the notices were mailed they informed me that they could not, that it was suppose to be an automatic mail generatied from a seperate office in another state. I'm a licensed, armed peace officer and would think they'd appreciate my presence in their banks a liitle more. I am in the process of filing a court action in local court of jurisidiction in hopes of getting a temporary restraining order to stop the fees and have the people I've spoken with subpoenaed to prove that I was notified. Since my story was a big event in Dallas when I was injured the Dallas papers and tv did stories and reporters I know are in the process of helping me find local television and news sources who may want to do a human interest story regarding the numerous complaints and unfair fees charged by this bank. I encourage anyone who has been wronged by this bank to do the same, including taking legal action. If a lawyer can not be found I suggest you file in local JP court for a restraining order to stop the fees and force the bank to pay for their employees and lawyers to answer in court, and more than likely have these fees reversed and damages paid to you in compensation. They do not count on the general public to do this. Bad publicity and court fees are something that will not go unaddressed by the banking industry. Understand that the burdon of proof in civil court is much more laxed than in a criminal proceeding. In a civil proceeding all you have to do is present enough evidence in court to tilt an imaginary scale of justice in your favor even 1%. Imagine two balanced scales and one has 49% of weight in evidence and the other 51%. The 51% tilts the scales and thats who wins. Evidence is anything presented before the court with relevance to the case. Document everything; list converstaions, names, dates and times, fees, statements, witnesses, hardships caused by their actions...its all evidence. Chances are they won't bother and you'll when by default and they may even be arrogant enough to ignore the court decision and fail to obey the court orders which will open the door for you to file additional actions and win higher damages from future litigation. If you have toplay their greedy game play it at a good ballpark, a court of law.

I too became OD by my own fault but they have charged me with so many fees I will never see daylight again. Can they do this? They call several times a day. I am afaraid to call them back they will charge me. What can be done? I am afraid of my own bank.

I agree. On 12/31/08, we had an authorized withdrawal from our account for "early cancellation" of a cable service. We cancelled it because of going down to one income and cable is a luxury. ANYWAY, $843 was taken out of the account. On 12/31/08, I was up at the bank explaining the situation. The branch manager said to take out the rest of the money, open a 2nd account and that the "pending" transaction of $843 would not be approved but we would still have to pay the $32 OD fee. I was cool with that. So we opened the 2nd account and the $843 DID go through. So now, the 1st account is negative $855 since we left $20 in there to keep it open and we can not use our 2nd account (that the branch manager suggested we do) because any money that goes into that account will be pulled over into the 1st account. On January 15th, we started getting hit with the $3 a day OD fee, then on February 1st, $5 a day OD fee. By the time our tax refund hit (as of today, 3/7/09, we still haven't seen the cable refund check) the 2nd account, $1, 157.36 was taken out of the 2nd account and put in the 1st account. I called the branch manager and she told me that she could "only" help me with $189.00 in reimbursement of all the fees that they charged me with. So in the end, I ate $125.36 worth of fees. I guess they feel that the only way THEY can stay in business during these hard economic times is to jerk around the little guy. It was all my mistake though. I was just going by what the branch manager was telling me to do. She's the experienced financial person in this situation. Right?

Woodforest National Bank - tellers with criminal records

One of their tellers is on probation for prostitution. Management has been notified and does nothing. I dont want a criminal handling my bank account. He also hits on married women.

Woodforest National Bank identity theft

I opened a small account at Woodforest, inside a Wallmart for the convenience of not having to go from my farm into town to get small amounts of money. I also opened a saving account because when I asked if there was overdraft protection available, I was told there was not.

On the 10th of October, 2008, I was the victim of an identity theft. My car, two bank cards, three credit cards, my license, social security card and some personal items were all taken. I got a call from Citibank early warning fraud that someone was attempting to use my card. I immediated contacted all institutions holding accounts that were missing, including Woodforest. I put a freeze on all three credit agencies and went about collecting police reports and other pertintant information.

I recieved communication from GE Money Bank and Citibank stating that after reviewing the informatin provided that this was a clear indentity theft, that charges made fraudulently were being removed and that cards would be replaced.

Woodforest, by far was the most confused and difficult institution to deal with, despite being the first informed of the theft on the morning of Oct. 11. The person who stole my identity had been stealing from me for a few weeks and seeing I was ill with the flu had asked on the 9th, for my pin number. I told him I did not know why he would need it since I had no intention of giving him the bank card. However as I was really ill, I had asked him to pick up a few things, soup, throat lozenges and vicks vapor rub, and not having cash I gave him a check for $30.00 to pay for these items.

At that point I was hoping he wuld take the money and leave, but he returned saying that his license was expired, the bank would not cash the check on an expired license as identification and I had to give him my debit card. I said no, and when press, gave him the wrong pin number.

When I fell asleep, he stole the card from my wallet, went to the bank in my car and after two tries using the wrong pin, returned again. This time he told me I had to go with him to the bank and change my pin. I was sick, frightened and exhausted. I went with him, tried to ask an employee to watch that he did not see me enter the pin, did so and returned to bed. Later that night, my safe was broken into and the above mentioned items stolen.

At first Woodforest said I would not be liable for the theft. I submitted fraud claims at the bank, heard nothing for over a month, when I got a call saying that there was a tape showing that this person was behind me when I entered the pin and therefore had permission to use the card. I responded that I had police reports to the contrary and that I had done everything possible to avoid this person getting access to any personal information. I was told to submit all police reports (2) and a statement, which I did. Apparently these documents were sent to the wrong department, the department that handles accounts that were opened fraudulently. It took six weeks to identify the problem and have the documents sent to the department they had been requested from.

Onb January 1, 2009, I recieved a call from Woodforest in Texas, stating that as the person in question was by my side when I entered the pin, this was not an identity theft. I asked if they had recieved the information that they had requested and was told that she had just recieved it and was reviewing it and would call me back.

After a week of no response, I called Texas, and asked what was going on. I also mentioned that I would like to see the tape that had this person first behind me and later at my side, but was told the tape no longer existed.

I began speaking again with the branch and said I would pay what had been stolen from them in order to end the matter and close the account which was still accumulating daily fees. When I went in the on duty manager added up all of the transaction made after the 9th when I changed the pin and deposited $50.00. The result was $480.00.

I told the manager that I did not feel that I owed the bank what was stolen from me and would only pay what had been taken from the bank. She said I had to come in when a different manager was on duty. I spent days going back over day to day transactions and came up with the figure of $247.50 that had been taken from the bank.

A week later on Thursday, I recieved a call from the branch stating that I needed to come in and resolve the situation. I agreed, but on my way my burglar alarm went off and I had to turn around. The following day was a typical farm day and I was too busy to go into the branch. I called and asked when the correct manager would be there and was told Monday. When I went in on Monday, the account had been charged off. I was told I recieved a call saying this was about to happen, but all I had been told was that I needed to come in and speak to the correct manager to reslove the situation.

The "correct" manager came up with the same $247.50 figure that I had come up with, but told me that the regional manager had said that only half of the fees could be taken off which meant I owed close to the same amount the incorrect manager demonstrated had been stolen from me and the bank. I had never met this regional manager, Steve Fischer, met him, nor heard his name mentioned. I said I would like to speak with him and was told that he was there on an irregular basis and that I would have to come in at his convienence. I asked them to call me when he came in and no one ever did.

Two days later, I was contacted by a collection agency who apparantly had bought the debt for less than I offered to pay to end the situation.

At this point I have placed a complaint with the OCC and with the state banking commissioner. Before sending in all required documention to the collectin agency I once again called Texas and was told that Mr. Fisher would call me as soon as possible. As of now, I have heard nothing.

This bank should have their license repealed and should be closed. I never gave permission to sell the debt ( I read the fine print) and had told the "right manager" that it would take a few weeks, but that I would pay the extorted amount to avoid the damage to my credit, but would continue to fight so that such extortion would not be permitted to continue.

The fact that the debt was sold (which is not legal) the day after it was written off shows the lack of communicatin between the brances and the home office which was apparent through this entire ordeal.

Woodforest National Bank being fired for doing what was right

I started with Woodforest National Bank in Feb. 2007. I loved my job. Customers are great. I love to help people. Customer service is very important to me. I was fired on Jan. 2009, just weeks from my 2 year anniversary. I was shocked. There is an employee that is predudice that works there and we had had some complaints, well it just so happened that this employee had emailed me a home about her feelings about our co-worker who is black and our customers who are black. I turned in the email to my manager and she in turn turned it into the Regional Manager who in turn said he showed it to the upper officers and told me that it made it all the way up and everyone in woodforest is disgusted with this employee. Well we had another incident on the 31st of december that she was rude to this custumer who was only there to make a deposit into his relatives account. Well my MIT called the Regional manager and told her write up a misconduct and have everyone who was around write up a statement. Well that was 3 of us and we did. Well a week later we had a conference with the regional manager individually and then a meeting the next night and myself and the MIT had to call HR (2 different people Marci and Paula). Then the next day we worked our shift and the MIT was told that she made the whole thing up and fired and I was told that my stories did not coincided with what i told the regional and the HR, so basically they called me a liar. So basically the lady is still there and she has had several write ups and has been short several times in here draw(over $50). I am hurt and think they did wrong by me. I loved my job and miss it. They did not even give me my full vacation time. I don't know what i can do but if there is any suggestions I have 60 days from termination date. Below is the email i copied.

I have learned to love you so much more since ANN left and loved you then more than you knew, but Ann scared me to death as she was so critical and it made US all sick but you and Chiquita. I know that and respect that. But even Ricky, whom I adore, said he would drive up and see Ann's car and want to turn around and go back home. SHE had this thing about her that was not good in management, as always made folks feel terrible about themselves and PEOPLE do not produce well under those conditions. We all proved that in many areas. I am told even by Misty that I have come so far in last few months. I know I have and I have a long way to go even now. YOU have done so well in so many areas and you have too much to do. I hope you get paid well...as I do not get paid very well...Becky makes much, much more and I have to EAT my words on that one as she has not proven to me or Brenda that she earned it yet. Always sick and a little on LAZY side so Brenda and I have decided and I am usually right about SOME things. But still love her at times. JUST have to be cautious with all there as things come back to bite me in ### and the way I tell things do not come back same way. That hurts but hell, who cares anymore? As Ricky said it is just a job. And PAYCHECK is why we all are there. I love my job and customers. But it is hard on me, as I do work hard. When I do not work extra hard, I feel like I am not being fair to YOU all.

I was brought up to work hard.

I have no choice right now.

But soon be 68 in March and it gets tougher and tougher to stand up all the time and no chairs for ALL of us. We need more desks to now open accounts, as we are all opening more accounts now, I think.

I am not prejedice person. But I did grow up on the farm and my dad was prejudice. What makes me prejudice is the DUMB ### BLACKS who make me so.
Ricky and I have a lot of FUNNY conversations about that...so do not trash me. (ha) But at times, I wish we were all WHITES there ONLY. I find I get my ### in trouble a lot as our black co worker says some of the dumbest ### when I am joking or laughing about something or a black irratated dumb black customer is so dumb that I have to crawl on my belly until they are PLEASED or I can READ their minds. And Chiquita always has to take up for them and as my dad would have said, they make us predujice. Need I say more?

But I have tried to let more and more things slide as I know when I walk out that door I am criticized. I simply try not to worry about it.

MY time will come when I will not have to work again. Just GOD had a plan and I think his plan was for me to be at that bank. I think when I die, WNB will wonder who was that REDHEAD?

Woodforest is a rip off. I had an account with them in Alabama and the manager was the worst bank I had ever been in. The manager a old woman named Martha Scarabrough was the most mean lady I met in a business. She talk to you like she owned the bank. If you go Moulton, Al to this bank, everyone in the town will know your business. She talks about the poor people and the staff just looks at you. Dont bank with these people. They charge you NDF fees to collect money and you have to fight to prove you dont owe them money. They hold the night deposits until evening. DONT BANK WITH THESE CROOKS!

I can not beleive the complaints about this bank- my bank! I have felt most of these concerns while bnking with them but I tried to trust. Now I am overdrawn over a thousand dollars because of their ###. I am done they can ### them selves because they sure ###ed me. I ve been overdrafted and given fake as little face hundred dollar bills for the last time. Please beleive that their call centers are in ###in Guadamala and other foreing countries for a reason. I have yet to figure out what in the world Betty Kellum has on Woodforest. But, it must be something big! I too was demoted and eventually quit, as you know. People that have come in contact with her whether it is a customer or even had to work with her... certainly don't trust her. They really feel more sorry for her. Woodforest has lost a wonderful employee in you, that was very well liked by customers, Walmart employees and fellow workers. HOPEFULLY WOODFOREST WILL WAKE UP AND SMELL WHAT STINKS ABOUT THIS WOMAN!

Woodforest National Bank charged me $3.00 a day overdraft fees

I used Woodforest Bank because my employer paid our wages through a payroll card through the bank. I stopped working at the company and the maintenance fees made my account overdrawn. For 7-8 months Woodforest bank consistently charged me $3.00 a day totalling $750.00 in overdraft fees. I have tried to close the account several times (because I am unemployed) but they tell me to pay the fees before the account can be closed. So they keep charging me $3.00 a day. This is a scam. Never do business with this bank. They will rip you off with bogus fees.

Most banks won't even give you the courtesy of going over disclosures with you!

And fyi: Services fees NEVER will have an NSF or OD fee attached to them. You have to have done something else with your account to go negative.

You know employees should point out the disclosures in great detail to customers but they rarely do. Try printing the disclosures in larger text and making that the selling point for your bank instead of trying to sneak them past a new customer. The next time u get stopped by a police officer and get a ticket friend, don't complain to me either. You should of known better bud. Have a nice day.

As of recently, it's not the branch's decision to discontinue a particular product that is only offered to a select number of overdrawn accounts which they feel they can provide support for. The corporate office discontinued the program - don't blame the bank (the branches and employees received no notice that it was to be discontinued on January 1, 2009). Also, in that program, there are minimums because the company doesn't allow you to enroll in this program unless you are really overdrawn so, consider it a compliment that they wanted to work with you and not let the collections agency call you daily. Also, walking into a bank and saying that you refuse to pay more than a certain amount of money is a GREAT way for them to not help you; banks are not rigid unless you give them a reason to be rigid. I work for a bank and customers that come in with an attitude get no help while those who come in calm and prepared get all the help they need. Both of you should really read the disclosures given to you when you open the account because they outline the fees and when you sign the signature card, whether you've read the disclosures or not, you signed for the fees (SAME AT ANY BANK!).

In a nutshell, you signed for the fees, you agreed to them, then you racked them up. You overdrafted and you should pay for that because YOU SIGNED FOR IT. Carry a check register and balance your checkbook correctly and then a bank might help you IF you don't know what you're doing.

They have done the same thing to me! Mind you, this was not a check I wrote, but an automatic debit that could have been refused. Oh, and you are have to love this! I was told when I opened the account that if it was ever overdrawn just come in and they would work out a repayment agreement. So I did. I was told that the amount I was overdrawn was too little. The minimum repayment amount was $50.00 per month and I would have it repaid too quickly! I am not kidding! Later I went to the bank, now with twice the balance due, the branch manager told me that Yes that is the policy. So I asked if they had racked up enough in fees for me to qualify for the repayment plan now. He told me "Sorry, the repayment plan is no longer available due to tax season! Since people will now have money, there were not offering the repayment plan anymore!" I cannot close the account! They continue to charge me $3 per day and there is nothing I can do about it. I am an unemployed single mother. There is no way I am taking out $400 to repay a $130 charge. Any red cent I would give them comes out of my son's mouth. I will never repay anything more than $160 and they refuse to accept that. But prior to my leaving the branch, the manager assured me they would be there for me should I need them in the future! I could get better rates from a loan shark! No kidding!

Woodforest National Bank crooked b+1$#%ds

We want to close our account but we need to close it 30 days to the day of the one year anniversary or it will automatically renew for another year. They charge an early termination fee of $375 if you are one day ahead of the schedule. They are a terrible company.

I am a merchant and Woodforest solicited my credit card processing account. The service was less than I had with previous processors and when they did a poor job of returning my calls. When I called to cancel my account I was informed there is a $495 early termination fee. Since I mentioned I had another processing account they informed me that I had no choice, I was in breach of the contract I had with them and my account would be closed and they would bill my checking account (with another bank, there are no Woodforest banks in my state) the $495. I checked my contract and the fee was NOT in my contract. I closed my checking account to prevent them from billing the $495. I've faxed my copy of the contract to my attorney and we will see where it goes from here.

Reading the complaints (all over the internet) concerning Woodforest bank, I see many of them are in Walmart stores in Texas. Why not organize a campaign calling Walmart complaining about Woodforest? Perhaps even getting disgruntled Woodforest customers along with their friends and families to boycott or picket in front of the Walmart stores where these banks are located. This isn't about the economic impact from the individuals involved in the boycott/picket. It's about getting the publicity! That's what will bring about change. They don't want their image tarnished on the 6:00 news.

i recently lost my job with wnb, and hate them right now but i have to back them against this claim...hey dum dum--you get c harged $25 if you close your account before it has been open for 6 months...thats it, where ever you got your information it was wrong. contact customer care they will correct you on the fees that are assessed.

Someone stole my checking account information and attempted to debit my account 32 times, I notified the bank of the unauthorized charges, filed disputes on all of them. The dispute department said, "if anything would have cleared, then they would have refunded the amounts cleared, but since they were just attempts, then they weren't actual charges."...

Woodforest National Bank excessive od charges

We were hit by Hurricane Ike on 9/13/08, as a result of this diaster, we are without power for 14 days now. The devastation has caused a major financial strain on us causing us having to use the funds we had to survive. Obviously, this dug into the already committed obligations pending in our account. We have had to spend anywhere from 30-60 dollars a day to maintain a generator going so that we can feed our 2 small children. Most of all banks as posted in the Houston Chronicle have waived fees to give some relief to their customers. However, Woodforest National Bank has allowed all kinds of ATM/Debit Card charges to be approved, knowingly that the funds were not truly available so that they can charge $32.00 a pop for each transaction. Imagine being without power where I normally am able to do online banking to monitor the account is now gone... this bank kept authorizing charges and I am geing hit with 12 OD Charges at $32.00 each totaling $384.00 in the negative. I am the sole provider, my husband is disabled and I have 2 small children who are affected by this hardship. I feel that this bank took advantage of victims after a major natural diaster. I will forward this to their corporate office and although I may not get my account credited, I want as many people to know that WOODFOREST NATIONAL BANK ARE THEIFS.

This person is not a thief. According to the terms offered by the bank, the customer can simply pay an overdraft fee to overdraw their account. Banks do this as a way of making a sizeable amount of money and no bank is going to eliminate this benefit. If it were theft, this person would have been charged already.

Because banks make so much money from overdrafts, the federal government passed legislation requiring banks to obtain written authorization from customers before they can offer their fee-based overdraft services. It's now the law that you have to approve this account "feature". One of my bank accounts has sent me 4 letters asking me to authorize overdraft and even suggested not having that "protection" could leave me stranded. I opted not to do overdraft, because lets face it, $30+ is a lot of money to pay because I might not keep records.

I will add that a friend's kid had almost 30 overdrafts on his account in one month. His foolishness cost him $1050 - seriously, do you think a bank would walk away from that kind of money for processing a few charges for a soda and chips, a tank of gas, or whatever. The bank in this scenario was happy to collect, was clear the account needed to be brought current, and made better money that they would have made from an investment of the same amounts as the overdrawn charges.

So - that said, Banks are not your friend - don't ever believe that. They take you money, they make money from your money, and while they offer a safe place for you to keep your money, in the case of Woodforest, some are paying a monthly fee for the service - not something a friend would do, absolutely not a friend. Overdraft may have saved this woman and her family when they needed it most, but Woodforest, they were only too happy to make money from her pain and suffering, and no Vice President is going to take away this anguish. FYI.. Humble Texas, put some money back for a rainy day (or a disaster), and next time, don't count on overdrafts to pay the way. You knew when you made the charges that Woodforest was going to stick it to you and you accepted every time you used your card.

I agree that you are the thief, and I am surprised that you haven't been arrested for theft and fraud. You took the money and should be made to pay for it. Just because checks have not cleared does not mean the money you took was ok. When those checks cleared, and you didn't have any money in your account, you will get busted twice, from the business you wrote the check to, but also from the bank again. You are not the sole supporter if your husband is getting social security, if he is not getting it, that means he is capable of doing work. Think before you leap, if you cannot balance your checkbook, then you should get help. No sympathy here. Don't blame the bank for your mistakes.

Woodforest is a very good bank. Its already been pointed out by others that you wrote checks when you knew funds were unavailable in your accout. Expecting the fees to bewaived is tantamount to expecting the bank to give you an interest free loan withoutapplying for a loan. You are a victim of your own misdeeds. An if you can afford a generator and $30-60.00 a day to run it, you can afford to feed your kids.

As others have stated YOU messed up. ATM withdrawals are made by you...same as Debit card items. Did YOU go to the bank and ask for help with the charges? Did YOU stop using your ATM/Debit card? Most banks will work with a person, but ONLY if that person goes in and talks to someone so an agreement can be reached.

Sorry lady. YOU wrote out checks -had debit card transactions pending- and THEN used the money during the FLOAT time... REGARDLESS of the circumstances; it's YOUR responsibility. YOURS. Hardships hit EVERYONE, I have lost my power MANY TIMES. I have been snowed in. Snowed in without food, any comfort -any luxuries OR even water to shower: I dealt with it. Does anyone, ANYONE, the bank 0r my neighbor taxpayer OWE ME? Um, NO. I am an ADULT. I make my own way. You blew your freakin' money, however you justified it and did it, you used money already committed. Not to mention the hurricane warnings are plentiful: You also knew that it was on the way and you COULD have left the area. Sorry lady: You scammed and YOU lost.

You admited that you were taking money from the bank when you didnt have any, the theif is you. Now the smart thing would have been to w/d the money that your overdraft limit would have let you and ONE amount so that way you only get ONE overdraft fee instead of 12. My teller advise me to do that now they were open for you to make that withdraw and they did help people with fees. Oh and another thing the bank is not responsible for balancing your check book thats your their job is to provide an institution to allow you to make transaction and which they did...hence the gas you were able to purchase.

We've been hit with about 15 overdrafts by this bank totaling 500 + dollars in the negative towards our account. EVERY pay check we've been getting further and further in the negative causing us HUGE financial troubles. Woodforest National Bank unspecified nsf charges

Woodforest national continues to charge my account with nsf charges for unspecified/unidentified attempts to withdraw money from my checking account. I am not notified of these attempts and if whom ever it is tries again, knowing there aren't funds from the first attempt to cover it, woodforest charges me again. This has happened 3-4 times and has added up to several hundreds of dollars each time. Isn't there a legal concern to such activities?

I'm on a fixed income and can not afford to give my money away to a billion dollor corporation. My livelyhood depends on every dollar that comes in. Ultimately, I want my money back, and I want that practice to be stopped immediately before they render me homeless again.

The first question that should be asked, Do YOU keep a check register and do YOU balance your account every month? Next question, did YOU set up "preauthorized" debits to your account. (electric bill, insurance payments, etc.) Did YOU write the checks? Each item can be presented at least 3 times and if your account doesn't have the funds, the item will be returned NSF plus your account will be charged a NSF (non-sufficient) fee; you can also incur a fee from whomever presented the item. All fees are disclosed at the time you open your account...YOU have to read through the fee schedule, YOU are to ask at that time, any questions you may have. Yes, you can dispute the items on your account but, FIRST you need to go to whomever is trying to debit your account, reason being 9 times out of 10 YOU authorized each and every transaction. Before you go on a whinning spree, take a good look in the mirror and ask, "DID I cause this probelm?"

Go into the bank and request a copy of the transaction. They can provide you with a withdrawal slip or copy of the check, or show it to you on the computer screen. If that doesn't work, ask them to pull the cameras for the day and time the transaction occured. They can do that. Also, you can file a formal dispute. Go into the branch and tell them you want to dispute the transactions. If all that fails, call customer care. [protected]. Also, you can go to a different branch to fill out a dispute if the one you're going to is being difficult, which they shouldn't be, and if they are you need to report this to customer care as well. There are things any teller or manager can do to help you if your complaint is legitimate. Have you filed a formal complaint? Have you spoken with a manager? Good luck :)

Woodforest National Bank bad service

My wife received two ups next day air packages from two individuals within the united states. The envelopes contained american express travelers cheques in $500.00 denominations. The money was suppose to be from individuals purchasing paintings within the us. I took the first of the american express travelers cheques to woodforest national bank located on camp bowie before they closed and moved the branch somewhere else. The young lady who waited on me took the cheques and checked them for the water mark. She found the marks and commenced to cash the cheques. She cashed the cheques and never said a word to me about the cheques being fraud. She never did call the american express office to check and see if the cheques were fraudulent. Later in the day, she called me and informed me that the cheques were fraudulent and that I would have to pay the $3, 000.00 back to woodforest national bank. I informed her that she had checked the water marks and located them that is why she cashed the cheques. Now I have trs recovery threating me that if I don't not make the payment to woodforest national bank that my credit would show that I cocerced the money from woodforest and that I would never be able to open up another bank account anywhere in the us from banks that used telechek systems. I feel as though the young lady that cashed the checks, ok'd the checks and that woodforest should have to take responsibility for the checks.

Direct deposit was received July 18 2023. Still has not been released. I was told by the bank that the funds would be released or returned but never given a date and funds remain on hold. I tried everything to resolve the issue from producing personal documentation to repeated trips to the bank

I on my card on in October the 11th I've called multiple times to customer service to try to find out the status they referred told me to go to my Branch I went to my Branch they said they can't help me and this is about $1,800 worth of charges my bank is now now negative because of this and no one seems to be able to tell me anything

On the 22nd of July I was declined 4 transactions from treasure bay casino resort.in the amount of 428.00.321.00,428.00 and 53.00. on the 23rd of July the founds we're tooken out of my account leaving a a overdraft fee of 569.00.
