VRBO review: Paid for a 2 bedroom but given a one bedroom.

On May 4, 2026, I pre-paid $1600 to D W to rent a two-bedroom apartment in downtown Toronto for my daughter and I for the period August 12 to 16. My daughter and I were going to watch a couple of Blue Jay games and attend other tourist activities. (Reservation ID HA-54YPLH; Property Number 20279819; Unit ID 9321155)

Prior to arriving in Toronto we were instructed to go to 151 Dan Leckie Way. In route to Dan Leckie, we were redirected to 300 Front St., Apt. 1003. When we arrived at the apartment, we found it was a small one bedroom.

When I contacted D W, he advised on August 12 and early August 13 that he would look into the matter and resolve it. After August 13, we were ghosted by D W and never heard from him again. I sent numerous messages to him in respect to why we were in one bedroom and not the two bedroom we originally rented. I asked where the blankets were so that my daughter could be warm sleeping on the couch. No response to any queries. My daughter slept 4 nights on a couch with no blankets and just an extra towel to cover herself.

After August 12, Ashley and Wilma from “Heart Hand Key” communicated in respect to #1003 but still provided no blankets or assistance. They communicated for one day and then they also ghosted us.

Long, long story short, we received no true communication with any of these people, they ghosted us and had no explanation why we were in a one bedroom rather than a two bedroom. Also, no explanation why we didn’t get blankets at least. Also, no mention when asked about a potential refund as we were not getting the product we paid for.
This ghosting and worrying about the accommodations ruined our whole trip. I made mention of being 75 years old earlier and I believe I was taken advantage of. I have used VRBO for over 30 years and this is the worst experience of my life. I would like a refund of my $1600.
