I am raising a formal public complaint against Vestiaire Collective regarding the mishandling of a cancelled sale and their refusal to return my property without an unjust fee.
Reference: 54091745
Timeline:
May 2025 – I listed three authentic Maria Tash gold earrings for sale on Vestiaire Collective.
Early June 2025 – The sale was cancelled after their authentication team deemed the earrings inauthentic. I was told I would receive a negative seller rating and would need to pay £15 to have them returned.
I immediately contacted customer support to explain that the earrings were personally purchased by me from the Maria Tash boutique at Liberty London in 2018. They are 100% genuine.
I provided a detailed explanation about the lack of hallmarks (standard for Maria Tash pieces under 1g in gold) and that the original receipt was no longer available due to the age of the purchase.
I also submitted what documentation I could, and made multiple requests for the item to be reviewed by a specialist familiar with Maria Tash fine jewellery.
Since then, I’ve been passed between at least six different support agents, repeatedly asked for a “brand certificate” (which does not exist for items like this), and given copy-paste responses that fail to engage with the details of my case.
I am now being ignored. No one will update me, no one will escalate the complaint as requested, and my genuine earrings are being withheld until I pay a £15 fee — despite providing ample evidence and acting in good faith throughout.
This experience has been exhausting and distressing. I have been a long-standing, honest seller and have completely lost confidence in Vestiaire’s ability to support its community. Their authentication process appears flawed, especially when it comes to niche fine jewellery brands like Maria Tash.
I am requesting that:
Vestiaire waive the £15 return fee,
Return my earrings without further delay,
Remove any negative marks against my seller account,
Review their authentication standards for fine jewellery to avoid further mistreatment of honest sellers.
If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will continue pursuing action via UK consumer protection services, ECC Net, and my payment provider for a chargeback.
Claimed loss: £350 - sale price and shipping to return the earrings
Desired outcome: I would like my earrings returned to me without the £15 fee. I will sell them elsewhere.
