Turkish Airlines changed my itinerary two weeks before my trip in a way that made me miss my connecting flight. I contacted them several times and was told the only solution was to stay overnight in Turkey. I explained I was traveling alone with my 5-year-old, and they assured me we would be given a hotel. They refused to send anything in writing.
Upon arrival in Istanbul, the connection desk refused the hotel, saying it wasn’t their fault the connection flight changed time. After arguing, they sent a note to the airport hotel, which also denied us. They redirected me to operations—which was closed.
I paid for my own hotel. Staff were rude and dismissive. One employee even told me, “You don’t need to travel again with Turkish Airlines.”
I filed an official complaint afterward and requested reimbursement. They denied everything without explanation. This was my first time staying overnight in Turkey, and I will never fly Turkish Airlines again.
Recommendation: Never again!
