What a joke - Had trouble from the day I brought it home... Tried to return it at 4 months but Target said I had to deal direct with Trutech... they would not return it and replace it with another unit. The DVD's would skip and the open/close door sometimes would not open... until one day the door could not be re-opened... I am planning on avoiding target shopping at all costs... and telling as many people as I can about this poor product and experience with Target.

I have the same complaint as everybody else. I bought this Trutech T600-D DVD player at Target for about $30. I didn't open it and use it for a while. Finally I did open it and hook it up. I put a DVD in it and it worked fine that one time. The second time I went to put a DVD in (same DVD), the door wouldn't open. I tried everything, thought I was doing something wrong, read instructions over and over, etc. So today I tried to return it to Target and I was told that their return policy on electronics products is 30 days and on other things 90 days. They said to call the company itself. Now I read all this and see that Target owns that company. I think the person was right who said the thing was broken before I bought it. They would probably get more returns within 30 days if it didn't work the first time a person used it. But it seems like more often than anything else, it refuses to work the second time a person uses it. So you're taken off guard, and the 30 days go by while you're sitting there not using it and not thinking you have a problem. Target's policy is hostile to the consumer, so I won't buy there again.

These have a problem with laser aging. Or either the laser becomes oxidized and the pickup focus needs to be re-adjusted. This will require some disassembly of the optical pickup. On the underside of it are two small adjustments. One is for DVD and the other is CD. You want to make a small adjustment to the DVD one. Then reassemble and see how it performs. Repeat until satisfied with playback. Make a mental not how much you turned it each time. Good luck!

I was watching my dads porno movie on his Trutech T-600D dvd player. When I heard him come home from work I tried to quickly eject his movie and put it back in his hiding place before he came upstairs. Unfortunately for me the damn eject button did not work and was unable to get the movie out. Later that night my dad told us that he rented a movie from Blockbuster and we were going to have family movie night. Later on that night when he went to put the movie in, he was unable to get the tray to eject. As he push play on the dvd player the porno movie came on and my dad knew that I was snooping through his collection! Do not buy this product, especially if you plan on going through your dad's stash of porno movies when he's at work. Guarranteed you'll get busted like me...what a piece of junk!!!

My T600-D TruTech DVD player is broken too. The DVD tray won't open. I had to unscrew all of the screws and take the player apart to get the DVD out. I often leave the DVD player on overnight. I wonder if something inside got too hot and caused a component to fail.

Does anyone know of a website that trouble shoots this DVD player?

I bought one of these at Target in June of 2006. It stopped working tonight, 4-1-08. It almost lasted 2 years. I paid about $30.00 for it so i can`t really complain i guess. It worked pretty well at first, then it started making loud clicking noises every time i would open the tray. A couple of times it just plain shut off in the middle of a movie. I will not buy another Trutech product.

I bought a Cyber Home DVD player for the same price at Wal-Mart 4 years ago and it works great with no problems at all.

I purchased this DVD player for my 19 month olds room for Christmas. It worked fine for about 2 weeks then it started skipping and stopping in the middle of movies. The door would work sometimes and then would not until finally it wouldn't open at all. Now in order to get the dvd out we would have to break something. I took it back to Target after having it for 3 months. Of course they would not do anything about it but did give me the number to the company (which Target owns) to deal with the problem. This product stinks and possibly dangerous. It gets very hot if left on for a little while.

I got this DVD player for at least 3 years, I kept it into my van and hooked it up to my roof mounted t.v. It's playing fine so far. Doesn't seems it's got any problem yet. Maybe I am one of the luck one out of all of you. I don't know what type of disc do you guys play, but most of my movies I played are DVD-r and CD-r. I have not try to play any original DVD or CD movies since I bought this DVD player.

I purchased this DVD player last year at this time to bring on winter vacation for two months. worked fine then. haven't used it since. I brought it with me on vacation again this year, worked one time. Now it loads and ends by saying "no disc". I have tried several DVDs and none work. It's very upsetting. I have to go out and buy another one and it won't be at Target. I will definitely research online before I buy again. I am passing the word about Target and Trutech as well.

    More problems with Trutech.

There IS a stupid manual fix to the DVD tray not opening. The reason why the eject doesn't work is because the lever/armature/mechanism that raises the DVD to be scanned catches when the tray begins to eject.

    1.
If you push the center of the plastic door to bow the plastic, the left and right edges of the door will pop out, allowing you to pull the door open with a fingernail.

    2.
Below the tray box about 1/2" from the left side is a black plastic cog wheel. This wheel raises and lowers the DVD to the scanner and assists in ejection of your disc.

    3.
Straighten out a paperclip and use it to turn the wheel counter-clockwise (left to right, or outside to inside), as you turn the wheel it will lower and chances are your DVD will automatically eject (unless you have flipped the player and the DVD has slid into another part of the machine).

    4. If you can only open the drawer part-way, use the curled end of the paper clip to hook underneath the tray and gently pull out to free your disc.

Let's just say... the thing was broken before you technically bought it, so don't blame yourself if it breaks further.

We bought player to watch an instructional DVD and thought it would be nice to have for movies - we don't watch that many. We played two DVDs and then didn't use it. Fast forward to today - wanted to play a DVD and the door will not open. Of course the warranty is gone, it's over 90 days old. We did not mistreat this appliance in any way - two plays? NICE!

This was purchased In August and was used for one day maybe 4 hours all together.. I just tried to use it again and the door will not open. Nothing I can do to get it to work. It was purchased at Target and the warrentwas for 90 days. It is to bad from the other reviews I see that neither Target or the company will refund or replace it. I have not tried and after reading the reviews will not and will advise people never to buy this produce.

    Sincerely,
    Sueann Patterson

DON'T BUY THIS JUNK... I played a DVD on this player ONCE, then the second time the door jammed and won't open. I didn't expect great quality but did expect to use for at least 1 year, not one day. Agree that TARGET customer service is lousy. They sell garbage and rather than defend their customers they protect themselves and their suppliers. I will avoid TARGET at all costs and will spread the word about TRUTECH being garbage too.

Got the Model T600-D in August 2007. Have run a total of 9 DVD's since I got it. It skipped a couple of times. Now the door won't open. I was going to return to Target, but after reading other comments.
I will get boned. As the saying goes> "Ya get what you pay for."

Just bought this today, taking it back tomorrow. Played 1 DVD with no problem, the 2nd DVD skipped and kept locking up, tried a couple other DVD's same thing. I hear grinding noises and unpleasant things going on inside. Tray doesn't open right half the time either. Bought a $30 DVD player from Kmart a little bit ago absolutely no issues, I guess I should have bought 2 of those!

    DON'T BUY THIS JUNK!

I COMPLETELY AGREE. This DVD player has given us nothing but problems. I just wished I read this thread before throwing my money away.
