In short, this fireplace is a fire hazard. Because of the way it is designed the fire box is very shallow, and the box itself is tall. In order to get the catalyst combustor up to the temperature it needs to be to be activated. You have to put more wood in there for the fire to reach the combustor. Being that the box is shallow, the wood inevitably breaks down and falls against the door and when you open the doors, the hot coals fall out. If wood has been placed there to put into the fire box, it has fallen on the wood thereby causing even more of a fire hazard. This has happened multiple times and I spoke with someone at the company and they said no they’ve had this since 1992 and there is no problem with the way it’s built. I have used a zero Clearance Fireplace for 32 years and I do know what I’m talking about.
Desired outcome: I would like to return this fireplace or exchange it for one that does not have these issues.
