Over the summer I had been getting iced tea at Eggert and Kensington cafe in Buffalo NY, that just was not up to the standards of your normal product. Half the time I either did not enjoy the taste of the tea or simply did not drink it. Finally having enough, I said to the young man serving me, that I'd had issues with the quality of the tea, was this tea fresh, and that if it wasn't there would be a problem. He assured me the tea was fresh, that it had been brewed within the last half hour. I questioned his assurance because I could clearly see the tea was not timed and the iced coffee had a old and discolored sticker on it. I reminded him if the tea was not good I was not going to just take it. He gave me a large tea, I took a sip and instantly knew it was old and told him so. I wanted a fresh cup, I told him that he could simply give me a medium decafe tea and pour it over a large cup of ice, seeing it was a quick way to fix my personal issue. I even told him he could take care of the customers behind me seeing as I was not in a rush. He goes to take care of others. While waiting, the cashier on drive thru begins berating me because I was complaining about the tea. She said not once but twice that i was holding up all the other customers asking the cashier to make me another cup of tea. I asked her why should i take tea that was clearly old and she pills out her phone and began (what i assumed) was a conversation about me. I make this assumption because she was clearly agitated, she had customers on drive thru and she switched to a different language. There really wasn't a reason for her to intervene, and in such a demeaning way. Was she attempting to shame me for expect a quality product?
The following morning I spoke to the morning manager who continually made excuses for the young gentleman (who I had no issue with and I repeatedly told her), in the end she offered me tea free of charge, it was worst then the tea I had the prior afternoon, she pointed out how light the color was and I pointed out it still wasnt timed and the old sticker that was on the iced coffee was 12+ hours later? Still on the canister. I refused the tea and have decided to no longer go to that branch any longer. All I wanted was a cup of fresh iced tea and to not be ashamed for expecting it.
