Target never do advance shopping

I used to spend hundreds of dollars a year at the local Target store, but I will be taking my business to one of their competitors now.
I bought a Christmas gift for my child in September of this year.

I kept my receipt for the item. I found out maybe two days before Christmas that a relative bought my child the exact same gift. Not a problem, I thought. I have my receipt, I will just take mine back. Imagine my surprise when I found out my receipt was valid until December 18th.
Target informed me that because I didn't have a receipt (I kept correcting them and telling them I did have a receipt), they would accommodate me by allowing me to exchange my item for another item from the same department (toys). I would gladly have exchanged the toy for other items from the store, but they said that was not allowed.
I have since contacted my relative and asked her for the gift receipt (I didn't want to tell her that I had already bought the same item for my child, but Target forced me to do just that). I will be returning the item and I will now do my shopping at a competitor. Target does not sell anything that I need that I can't get from another major retailer.
I feel that Target should re-examine their return policy. I did not buy a seasonal item. The toy is still being sold at the store. The fact that they do not allow local stores to make exceptions (I missed the "return period" by 8 days when I pulled my receipt out) for non-seasonal items still stocked just shocks me. The local store gave me the Target customer service number and I heard the same message from two different people there. It's their policy and there are no exceptions.
I am telling all my friends about my experience and urging them not to do any advance shopping for Christmas, birthdays, etc. if they do shop at Target.

I really don't see a problem with Target. All stores have return policies. Where I work at JCP it is also a 90-day return policy.

Sorry, but a VALID (90 days after purchase) receipt is required for all returns/exchanges in order to get your full amount back. After that point, your receipt doesn't scan in our system and there's no way to use it. We can do store credit, but it automatically goes to the lowest sale price and there's no way to change that.

Sorry for your bad experiences, but the 90 day policy is quite clear on the receipt and in the store.

I bought a gift for my daughter, the price was $169.99. It was broken and I took it back, I did have the receipt but it was over there 90 day return policy. They wanted to only give the clearance price of $48.00 because it was after the 90 days. I was ripped off of $120.00. It clearly stated on a receipt the I had paid $169.99. I will never ever shop at Target again! I will also spread the word to anyone and everyone about the problem. They have lost a lot of money over there poor return policy! Jamie

Target order delayed for over 5 months!

What I really want this year for Christmas is for someone to cancel my Target order. On July 21st, 2006, I ordered an infant seat on the target.com website for my then 3-month old son. It is now December 23rd, 2006 and my infant seat still has not arrived. 5 months and counting!

Each week I receive an automated message from Target.com which states that "there is a delay with one or more items in the order you placed." Furthermore, the message indicates that "it is not possible to cancel this order at this time."

The numerous Target customer service agents with whom I have spoken and emailed have said that if I no longer want the infant seat (my son is now too old for the seat), I can refuse or return the eventual delivery. I have then explained repeatedly that I have since moved overseas and am no longer able to refuse delivery at my previous address. To my dismay, the standard Target response has been "Our systems prohibit us from cancelling orders" and "all you can do is refuse the parcel when it is delivered." Did I not just say that I am living overseas?! Are they even trying to help?

I find the whole target.com shopping experience to be extremely user-unfriendly. All I really want this year for Christmas is for someone to cancel my Target order.

Target never received free target gift card!

On June 22, 2006 roughly around 12:15:37 I received an email from an email address [protected]@thaseaplus.com which stated that I was Target Voucher winner #753-9699 and have just won a $500 Target Voucher. To redeem voucher I had to sign up for one of the services listed when I clicked on the link http://thaseaplus.com/t/c/84/off_good/sz6279.html.

Needless to say I filled out to receive services through Columbia House Video. A $500 Target Gift Card was promised to be delivered by FedEx. I have never received a $500 Target Gift Card.

When I was out on medical leave I emailed this [protected]@thaseaplus.com only to finally receive an undeliverable mail reply. My email was sent from my home email address [protected]@msn.com on November 8, 2006.

The account number I have on file with Columbia House Video is [protected].

I have copies of all the pages that popped up when I was complying to receive my $500 Target Gift Card.

I'm actually on this site right now and I don't believe it... It's just too good to be true.
Pay 4.95 off your credit card and get a 100$ gift card voucher for a savings plan. I'm on this free computer website that I heard on the radio and thought I would check it out becuase I need one for school... I feel like it's a scam but I just don't know!
Why I came to this site was to find out what a gift card voucher was... Does anyone know what a gift card voucher is? becuase I'm thinking it's like a concert voucher where if you go to this buisness you won't get in for free but you'll get in cheaper than everyone else... isn't that how vouchers work?
So someone who isn't an employee of this site suppoirting their scam let me know what is going on with this computer site?!?!?!?! Or does anyone have a cheap laptop to sell?

not all an-line surverys are schemes, I did not believe any of them were real at all... until a friend of mine did one, she did have to sign up for 2 offers. she did receive a 100 dollar gift card about 4 weeks later. I decided to try... I went to same site as my friend... I just received a 500 dollar gift card for target. I don't like giving any info. on-line either, I contacted promotional company first (e-mail) and set it up so I could pick my offers over the phone and then I could call disney movie club and a book club myself and set it up. They gave me a verification number to e-mail to the promotional company and about 5 weeks later I got my card! I do beleive that no matter what u do to protect yourself...It is always possible for someone to get your info. Can't worry too much about it.

So not only did you fall for some sales scheme that probably has no affiliation with Target whatsoever, but you also posted your account information from columbia house video on a public forum, where anyone with enough tech smarts can probably get your credit card number you used to apply for the service?

I'm light headed now

I was supposedly the 999,999th visitor to a Paul Potts web site, and was informed that I would receive a $500 gift card from Target.SWEET! What a great Christmas bonus to be able to do the bulk of my holiday shopping for my 5 grandchildren at Target! All I had to do was complete the survey, click on at least 2 of the many offers that followed, and my gift card would be delivered via FedEx. It has been nearly 3 weeks, and all I have received is a ton of unwanted Email and as many phone calls all wanting to sell me something or enroll me in some "get rich scheme". Needless to say, I'm disappointed, and I'll never fill out another on-line survey.

Target heartless store!

I am writing to everyone I know about something that happened to me. On October 12th, western NY got hit with a freak snowstorm. This storm dropped over 20 inches of snow which took down power lines all over. Over 300,000 people were without power. On the second day after this storm I finally managed to get out to try to buy a few things. One of them was a battery operated radio. I ended up at our Target store in Cheektowaga, NY. They were one of the few stores that managed to open up that soon. I went in and there were 2 radios on their shelf. I asked the saleslady if there were any in boxes and she said no and told me that I could not buy either one of those 2 since they do not sell display models. Well, after all the stress of the past few days, I started crying. I asked her to please call the manager. She did. When the manager came, I told him that I wanted to purchase one of the radios and he told me the same thing. I told him that during an emergency situation, I thought store policy should be suspended. He told me, "Well, what if another shipment of those comes in? How will the customers be able to see what they are going to purchase?" I told him to just open another box, take one out and put it on display. He smirked at me and told me that's too bad, it was still company policy and he wouldn't sell me one. My poor kids were hugging me telling me not to cry and he just walked off. Well, needless to say, I will never ever shop at a Target store again and I told this person that I would tell everyone I know what a cold, heartless store it was. I called their headquarters to relate what happened and the woman said he should have sold it to me but that was about it. I am so disgusted with a company that cares more about it's policy than about it's customers. So please, pass this on to everyone that you know. Let everyone know that Target doesn't give a care about it's customers only it's bottom line and it's policies. I believe that people talk with their pocketbooks when it comes to stores and that is the best way to let Target know that we will not deal with a store like theirs. I am asking everyone to please copy this and send it to everyone you know. I would not want anyone else to go through anything like this. Thank you very much.

Target target has lost another customer!

I bought a camera and the matching printer a Christmas present for my daughter. My daughter opened the camera and was looking at the directions when she noticed that I had the wrong printer for that camera. The camera and the printer were both Kodak, but we had been sold the wrong model printer by the "not so helpful salesclerk" at Target. I took it back and tried to exchange it for the right printer which cost $20.00 more than the original printer. A Target Manager that looked about 16 year old informed me that I could not return the printer without the receipt, even though the printer had not been opened and even though I was buying a more expensive item. I explained to the manager that it was not my fault, that I had trusted the employee that works in the camera department. He said that Targe had a new policy and that anything that was over $100 could not be returned or exchanged. I called the 800 number, the day manager, and they all refused to help. Target did not care that I was going to be stuck with a printer that I could not use. I finally found a way around thier stupid policy. Target has lost another customer.

I bought a PS4 game ($59.99) for my son at Christmas who then received one from his aunt.
I went to return the game with my receipt in hand but the new policy 90 days was up and they would not accept the return-even with receipt!
It was unopened and of course still in wrap. I asked for an in store exchange and they said NO!
I am furious... the big and mighty Target won't even do an in house exchange. That;s called stealing!
Who can I call?

I got a jogging stroller for a baby shower and it is not the one I wanted so I went and bought a different one after target told me I could not exchange the one I got for another one. The stroller was 99.99 and they told me I would have to ask for a gift reciept a month later. I dont want to seem ungrateful either so now that I did muster up the odasity to ask for the gift reciept they hadnt kept it so now I am stuck with the stroller I dont want and I had to pay 300.00 for the one we wanted. I couldnt even get diapers. Target doesnt even work with you. Other stores like some on here say that are the same they are not. I did the same thing with a car seat at kohls and they totally exchanged it and gave me store credit to buy baby clothes. We already have a car seat. Every where else I shop will work with you!

I hate the policy for this reason: we are having a baby, and have had a couple baby showers. We've gotten gifts we know came from Target, and we'd like to return them, but we feel ungrateful asking for a gift receipt.

More and more people are ignorant of return/exchange policies at various stores. Many stores policies on electronics are similar: 14 days with original receipt and original packaging for full refund. Some charge a 15% restock fee (Best Buy) no matter what, while some (Office Depot) only charge it if something is missing from the box (UPC, cable, discs, etc).

Blaming a Target Associate for selling the wrong item is, well, stupid. Unlike a company that specializes in the items you bought, Target is a department store like Wal-Mart where the associates do not get trained to sell the items, or to suggest the correct accessories. What knowledge they may have is limited to their own use, unless they are a tech geek who looks stuff up. Customers need to research on their own before they go fussing about "not getting the right accessory" at Target.

Again, blaming a Target associate is ridiculous. It is like blaming a McDonald's employee because they don't "Flame Broil" their food like Burger King.

You guys, come on...either this is the very first time in your life you've ever had to do a return/exchange at a store (doubtful) or all of you have learned nothing from every other store. Almost everywhere requires a receipt. All of you come on here and complain, but why not learn for the information here and KEEP THE DARN RECEIPT! And stop complaining about a policy that is in place (or something similar) at nearly every store.

A kodak printer is universal, the camera itself will come with a plastic adapter for the camera, unless the camera was an older model where you need to contact kodak for a different adapter

"A receipt dated within 90 days of purchase is needed for ALL returns and exchanges" I do not feel that this is a horrible return policy, Why should a store be responsible for fixing your mistake of loosing your receipt?

I ordered a coat from Target.com and more than a couple days later, I get an email saying that my shipment might be delayed up to 2 weeks! They didn't give me any more information, or any reason, but AT LEAST THEY'RE "SORRY". They actually had the nerve to also put on the email that they hope I do business with them again. I will never spend another penny with them again.

I dont have a business , the location is in Boca Raton FL. and I want to make a complaint.
I ordered a Black & Decker SpaceMaker Under the Counter can Opener from Target from the internet and in about 10 minutes I canceled the order and they sent me notification that they were shipping out the can opener to me, I send them a message to tell them that I will be sending the merchandise back to them, when the postmaster delivers it to me.

That is my complaint, they should allow more time before they mail anything out to you.

Target return policy is deceptive

When I tried to return a file cabinet, unopened box without receipt (misplaced it) to Target store, they made me to either get something from their Office Supply Department (at same value or higher), or take it back home. I asked if I could get a store credit so that I can get something I may need at a later time? They said no.

I was in rush as I was on the way to airport and realy had no interest of shopping then. I asked to speak to store manager, but he couldn't explain why they couldn't issue a store credit. I then grabbed something a higher value in hurry and asked the clerk at return counter that if I could return it later without any problem, he said yes.

Guess what, when I went back a few days later, same thing happend to me. I was told to either do an exchange, or take it back home. I said I had reciept and was told I could return it without any problem when I did my first exchang. No, the receipt has printed that my first return was without receipt, therefore, they treated this second item with a receipt as no receipt.

The reason I had to return my very first item was because I had to move from a house to an appartment (down sizing), I really had no place and use of it. Now Target sucked more money out of me, and I stuck with an item I don't need and no room for it.

I wanted to donate it to Salvation Army, normally you can find it in front of their store, guess what Target banned them too.

I am sure I won't shop Target anymore.

Thansk, Mark.
