Steve Madden Disappointing Experience with Steve Madden

As a potential customer, I must share my disappointment with my recent experience with Steve Madden. After purchasing a pair of shoes, I noticed they were incredibly uncomfortable and discovered a defect in the heel. Despite reaching out for assistance, I received promotional emails instead of a resolution. The lack of quality and poor customer service left me feeling let down. It's disheartening when a brand fails to meet expectations, especially after investing in their products.

Steve Madden Will never order from Steve Madden / update 6/15/21

I purchased 2 pairs of sandals. 1.on may 2,2021 with order#*** and 2. Pair on may 4,2021 with order #***. The shoes were back ordered and I was okay with that even though with back order I should've had the shoes already. Problem the shoes sent shipped email on may29,2021. And after a week of sitting only pair1 has been in transit, still have yet to receive. Pair 2 has been sitting since may 28,2021 with only a shipping label created, no movement what so ever. STEVE MADDEN CHAT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND YOU CANNOT GET ANYONE ON THE LINE AS I HAVE TRIED MANY TIMES. By the time I get the shoes summer will be gone. I paid for 2 pairs of shoes, and I don't have no shoes. I will soon have to contact my bank as there seem to be no resolution for receiving my items from Steve Madden. Horrible experience, horrible service and customer service.
Update: 6/15/21 after leaving review, customer service reached out to me and was more than helpful. I have since received 1 pair of the sandals and the other pair is now in transit. Very helpful after getting in contact with them. I'm pleased.

Steve Madden Horrendous

It tells you online easy returns. I've been trying for 5 days abs they emailing me the same stupid link to get a return label online. When I yet this it tells be my postcode isn't recoginsed contact the retailer that I do 6 times a day for 5 days. Still waiting on them arranging dpd to collect the return. Stay away from this company.

Steve Madden Website does not update item availability in real time, but takes your order anyways

My Fianc? found her ideal wedding shoes at a local store, they did not have her size so she ordered them from Steve Madden as the website said they were in stock, in her size. She received an email confirmation that her order was received, and when we checked her credit card, she was charged for the shoes. One week later we noticed she had not received an email indicating the order was shipped yet with a tracking order. We called SM customer service, which is outsourced to a European call center, to inquire. They informed us that the shoes were out of stock. I complained that their website showed them in stock at the time, we even had a screenshot. They said that they take the orders in the order they are submitted, so someone who ordered before us got the last pair in her size. They never gave us a satisfactory answer as to why their website can't update item availability in real time, or how they can justify taking money if the item is not in stock, and just leave you waiting without any updates about your order status. We requested to speak with a supervisor and were transferred to one, but got the same message and no satisfactory answer as to how a business can operate this way when the technology exists to track inventory and all the reputable businesses can do it. Furthermore, the shoes are available in the States but there is no mechanism to ship to Canada, where we are. They could do it but choose not to. She felt bad for us and offered a discount on some similar shoes that showed as available on the website. We took her up on the offer and she said she would have to wait until the next day to check with the warehouse to see if they were in stock, which just added insult to injury as they are 1)not the shoes my fiance wanted and 2) again the website says they are in stock! She did process the refund for the originally purchased shoes, and also processed the purchase of the new shoes but said we would have to wait until today to know if they were in stock. Her manager left voicemail that they are still waiting to hear from the warehouse if these shoes are in stock, the website says they are though. Will we get our wedding shoes or not? Either way, this is the last time we will order through SM and I will tell anyone not to bother ordering through SM as well.

Steve Madden 2021 Worst Company and Customer's Service

First let me preface this complaint and review by saying, I had no idea that Steve Madden had such a poor reputation until seeing their low rating on this site. So my complaint they should be used to!
I will never again purchase items from this company. Not only did they send me a damaged and flawed boot; which they were fully aware of when they sent it to their customer, but their communication, and customer's service skills is absolutely horrible!
First of all, upon opening the box of boots(which I purchased two pair), the boxes presentation with the damaged boot was a bit suspicious. The boot that was not damaged was placed inside protective plastic. The boot that was damaged with black ink spots, was NOT in a protective plastic, and simply just thrown carelessly in the box. I thought that was strange in the beginning. Once I pulled the one boot out of the box, I immediately saw that there were black ink spots on the boot- but you see, because the boot is patterned, this company figured that their customer would NOT notice the flaw, and decided to send the damaged boot to their customer anyway. I noticed IMMEDIATELY.
I immediately contacted them. They gave me the run-around. They then stated that the boot was no longer available. They offered to take off 20% of a boot with obvious block ink spots on it. For almost two weeks I have been back and forth with this so-called business. There was a new employee responding to my emails each time. I always end my emails with "Mrs."- and they continued to address me by my first name, EVEN after I requested that they honor my request, and exhibit a professional behavior, other than the casual, laid-back, and nonchalant attitude that they were projecting.
I then agreed to have a replacement boot sent, however, they requested that they receive the damaged boots first, and that if I went over the "15 days"(keep in mind during a pandemic, and the holidays; which could prolong the shipping process) that they allowed to return the item, they would charge me for another pair of boots. Ridiculous! I then told them to just apply the discount instead. The very next day I received an email that I had purchased ANOTHER PAIR of boots from them! I had NOT. Keep in mind they said that the boots were no longer in stock, and that I would have to wait until January 11th, in order for a possible replacement. Now, if I had known that they were actually going to have sense and send the replacement boots in a timely manner(1 day later than our communication, instead of January 11th), I would have decided on the replacement boots without a doubt. I then emailed them and informed them of their mistake, and from there it went even more downhill. They presented as confused, unprofessional, and hard up for a pair of boots which were on sale.
They had preferred to lose a customer, than to send the boots beforehand, and perhaps take a loss. I informed them of this too.
The worst company of 2021!
Do not purchase your shoes from Steve Madden. The business SHOULD be closed down; expeditiously.

Steve Madden White Sneakers

I bought the white sneakers from Steve Madden a little over a month ago to wear to work. I wear them twice a week into the office, and they are already unwearable. They are completely falling apart. The outside of the shoe has separated from the center of the shoe. They are ripping at the seams. The inside bottom of the shoe has disintegrated, and my foot is blistered from not having cushion under my heal. Will never buy Steve Madden shoes again. They were $40 from TJ Maxx and lasted only a month worn twice a week.

Steve Madden Sandals

I purchased these sandals on 5/26/2023. I was excited that they were on sale and my size and so comfortable when I tried them on. They looked great on and were exactly what I was looking for. I trusted the Steve Madden name since I have been wearing them since the 1990s.

However when I decided to wear them last night but it didn’t take me long to realize that the strap in the back moves down and comes completely off the back of my heel. I couldn’t even walk 10 feet without it coming completely off. I feel like cutting it off as it is very annoying having to fix them every time. I bought them because I liked the support around my ankles . If I wanted to buy slides I would’ve bought slides.

Desired outcome: Would like a refund or credit for a different pair.

i have purchase shoes from steve madden store dlf mall , noida . so after 1 month use shoes ka sole kharab ho gya - so we went to steve madden store they said apka sole acha wala lag wate hai - then they took 2 months for this - then we received those - again after 1 or 2 use again sole khrab hogya - then again we went to the store this time they exchange our shoes - but again those new shoes after 1 or 2 use khrab hogya hai - now i want my money back . i have purchased these for my office - but cant wear them becoz of uncomfortable sole . pls look into this matter asap . nd call [protected].

Steve Madden Maxima studded sneaker shoes

I bought a pair of black studded Maxima sneakers three months ago and I only wore them once or twice every three weeks. Then, the rubber sole of the shoe just falls off, with an embarrassing hole in the bottom every time a bend my feet. For the high price of the shoe, I'm surprised that the quality is very poorly made. I will not recommend this brand to anyone.

Steve Madden Chicago/05s1-11m-black

I received these boots as a Christmas gift from my children and have worn them (3) times which included today. These boots are very comfortable and until today have been something that I really look forward to wearing. I stand and walk a lot at work and these are not only cute but easy on my feet and always get several compliments when I have them on. However today as I'm preparing for church and begin to slip my boots on upon checking my outfit in the mirror I notice both of my boots have a slit at the seam that had not previous been there. I think over the other times I've worn these (only twice) this must have started to happen. I would love to have this issue resolved. Thank You!

Steve Madden Madden girl brand size 6 woman’s ankle bootie

Not even a year I bought a pair of black madden girl boots. I am a teacher and while giving a lesson in front of the class I felt my left foot twist. At first I thought I stepped on one of the toys but no I realized the heel was dangling. I was so embarrassed! The sad part they were my favorite boots and were so comfortable 😞 I’m really upset and don’t think I’ll buy another pair. I paid money that right now with the cost of living will be no time soon.

Shoes fall apart in a time frame that’s too short .. lightly worn shoes agoutis never fall apart . New shoes should be given out because glue or whatever they use to put these shoes away is failing . It ridiculous shoes look new but falling apart . I will save the pictures and send them privately if you like . Purchased shoes march of last year maybe been worn 10 times since then they are not everyday shoes .

Steve Madden Product

Very very poor quality from such expensive brand . Received this Steve Madden back pack as a gift and on the first use within an hour the loop which holds the straps is almost tearing off . Might come off any moment. And I am travelling with this as my only carrier for essential stuffs. This is totally not acceptable from an international brand who claims the lux space. The company should refund the total value since my trust with them is lost now.

Steve Madden Boots for women

Wife wore the boots two times and the whole bottom unglued and is hanging off. I wrote customer service and explained to them they were purchased at Kohls and they responded that they weren't bought from them. lol I responded saying they were still Steve Maddens.

Absolute rip off company and garbage shoes. I lost the money and will NEVER buy Steve Madden again.

Steve Madden Purchased suede western boots and the heels broke off both boots after one wear

I purchased new boots in August 2022 from DSW. These boots were full price and had just been released for the fall. I finally wore them for the first time 2 weeks ago and the heels broke off of both boots. I wasn't even walking in the boots that long. I wore them out to dinner and then back home and they broke that quickly. I am very sad about this since I paid over $100 for these boots only to have them break after wearing literally one time. I've never had a quality issue with Steve Madden shoes in the past. Makes me not want to buy any moving forward though. My cheap western boots from Target are still going strong 9 years later.

Steve Madden Paola Rhinstone booties-shoes

I purchased these boots on February 6th, 2020 I got them at Nordstrom rack.

so right when the pandemic started, so they stayed in the shoe box for a long while. well ive only worn the shoes a total of 3x.

the 3rd time the left heel felt funny so I took them to a shoe repair person,

he stated that heel was all plastic and that the heel gave in. he stated that the shoes are not repairable.because the heel is plastic and not wood. they just not well made. i was quite shocked and bummed that i only got to wear them 3x

Steve Madden Bag quality is awful

I have purchased a Bamara Crossbody Steve Madden bag worth 80 EUR in May 2022.

In August 2022 both the SM sign of the bag fell off and the strip got ripped.

When asking for a change or a refund I have been told that the warranty is only valid for 30 days and there can not be anything done.

Do not purchase from Steve Madden. The quality is really bad and the brand is obviously overpriced.

Steve Madden Misleading ads

I signed up on SM web for a pair of grey sneaker in size 8 Under women’s category. Everyday I have been receiving more than enough iMessages and emails that are irrelevant to what I am waiting for. On June 8th I received an email from SM says the sneaker in size 8 is available now for purchase. On the email it has a picture of the sneaker with a term called Maxx Grey without indicating anything else. I trusted and clicked and paid. I received it yesterday, it was a men’s 8 instead of woman’s! I contacted [protected]@steve madden they refused my refund request because it is a sale item. I am very disappointed Steve Madden with abusing my personal info and received misleading ads and made me purchased the wrong item!

Steve Madden Order Number: #STEV55173

Purposely didn't send return label then promised to post a return label when I contacted via customer service email, then emailed a return label as they blamed dpd for not providing the label and then stopped replying via email. Finally got a tracking number from dpd via email saying they've received my return but still no refund has been processed.

Steve Madden platform wedges falling apart while wearing them

on 10/6/21 at approximately 6:45 P.M I was exiting my friends vehicle ( about to enter a networking event) and the right and then left platform wedge completely detached from the sole of the shoe...scary, embarrassing and dangerous. I was forced to go barefoot to this important event, and my favorite wedges disintegrated (right and left ) ..I am very careful with all my shoes and they were in pristine condition to the naked eye...

Steve Madden Missing order poor customer service

Made order on 17th September for £130 and hasn't arrived. Numerous emails and complaints to customer service later still nothing and being passed from person to person nobody knows anything. More recently my emails are bouncing back undelivered I am getting nowhere and they are still taking payments from me. Disgusting customer service never use this company again
