I am filing this complaint to warn others about Safe Home Security and its affiliate Safeguard America.
What started as a simple request to move my home security service turned into a serious contract and billing problem. I was told that in order to continue monitoring without paying a large early termination fee, I had to sign a new agreement with Safeguard America. I was told it was just an “updated contract” and that nothing else would change.
Instead, I ended up with overlapping agreements, no working security system at my new home, and continued billing for my old home. I was also billed around $400 for equipment and services that never functioned.
The system that was installed did not work. There was no usable app, no remote access, and no way to properly arm or disarm the system. I had no actual monitoring.
When I contacted customer service, the representative repeatedly interrupted me, refused to let me explain the issue, and told me that I “was not getting out of the contract under any circumstances.” When I asked to speak to a manager, the call was disconnected. No effort was made to fix the problem or provide a reasonable solution.
Even after disputing the situation in writing, the company continued sending invoices and attempting to collect payment.
Recommendation: I strongly recommend that consumers avoid Safe Home Security and Safeguard America and look for a more transparent and reputable company.
