Rent-A-Center Service issues with manager lewis

Hello,

I would like to lodge a formal complaint against the manager, Lewis at the RentaCenter located in Stillwater, OK regarding his customer service, verbal abuse and lack of knowledge during our call on 9/7/2021.
I was dealing with some financial issues during the week ending August 27, 2021 and was unable to make my payment. I was instructed by employee Kyle that it was fine to make a double payment on 9/3/2021 to catch up. I paid a payment of $99.61, which was what the website indicated was due. Today, 9/7/2021, I received a call from Kyle at 3:14 pm telling me my payment was due. I explained that I paid my payment on Friday and he stated that he could see my payment and was not sure why it was showing due now. He said that he would speak to his manager and call me back. At 5:49 pm I received another call from Kyle asking about my payment. I explained to him that we had already spoken and he was supposed to be checking on my status. He remembered that we had spoken earlier and needed his manager to explain the situation. I waited for the manager, Lewis to take my call. Once he begin speaking to me, I tried to explain that I had made a payment of $99.61 on 9/3/2021. I pay my payment of $54.63 every Friday. I was not certain why the amount due was showing $99.61 but I paid what was owed. Lewis was immediately aggressive and told me that the payment on my washing machine was due today. The payment for the washing machine is $17.29, which is not the amount that the payment was short. At this point I am very frustrated and am sick with COVID. I said that I would just pay the payment on the washing machine because Lewis was not making any sense. He knowledge about the payment system was lacking and I did not feel that the conversation was going well. Lewis and I began arguing. He threatened to come confiscate my items and I explained to him that we have a legally binding contract and he could not take my items if my payments are made. He was incredibly unprofessional. I cannot imagine speaking to a customer the way he did. He refused to give me a name of a supervisor and told me to "look it up if I wanted to complain" I am very disappointed in this interaction with RentaCenter.

Rent-A-Center Unable to reach ANYONE in customer service

I have been trying for months—yes MONTHS— to get in contact with a representative for help setting up my online account. My local store has a completely different agreement number for my items than I have, however neither of them work when trying to set up my online account. So that means I have yet to be able to link my agreement number and I basically have no access to my online account that was never fully set up. Obviously the local store is as helpless as I am so I have been forced to stay on hold for HOURS in hopes of reaching someone at the call center. Here lies my biggest problem. I don't believe anyone works there. The line has randomly hung up on me multiple times, the "press # for a callback" does not respond whatsoever and I never ever received a callback the multiple times the line reverts to the "press 1 to confirm your number and an agent will reach out when they're available" prompt. This is infuriating considering that my autopay was set up just for me to get my items and yet nobody can even help me setup an online account so I can see with my own eyes exactly how much money is left on my items, or make extra payments if I wanted to. 0/5 stars.

Rent-A-Center Unauthorized payments

I'm pretty pissed off that you allow your employees to run cards without authorization! I called the store they said they would refund my money since they had no approval to run my card! Should I just press charges against the individual? What the hell do I have to do get this corrected? I guess they think it's okay to just illegally run cards without authorization? Like wtf?! Have this corrected now

Rent-A-Center 50% pay off

for 3 months now i've been trying to pay off furniture because of going in for neck and spine surgery wasn't getting anywhere with Bend Oregon store so i called corporate on 8/2 /21 and 8/4/21 both oeople i spoke with said yes i was able to do 50% off buy out at that time owed is 341.52 witch meant 171.76 to pay off both representatives said but manger is want to stick me with some out ragous amount been with rac for over 25 yrs store burned me on tv keep charging me when it was turned in now after this i will no longer do business with rac again and will tell friends about my last 2 experiences dont need this just before major surgury thank you for your time Edward Sammut [protected]@yahoo.com [protected]

Rent-A-Center Employee stealing

Mike the store manager from Altoona store by Walmart have a gaming monitor to an employee that is on rent by a customer that didn't take it with the rest of the computer. That is stealing and they both should be fired. The employees name is Thomas mock. I was in the store when he gave it to him and I knew Tom from a different job and he's bragged about it since then.

Rent-A-Center 2 piece couch set

In July 2021 before my payment was due, I told the renta center in Tooele. Utah that I no longer wanted the 2 piece couch set because the one recliner doesn't recline and the price for the couch was bundled with my tv and soundbar. I have other items there also, my washer and dryer, a bed frame and snowblower. I asked Chris to split the couches from the bundle and I would pay for the tv and sound bar. He didnt do it and just kept calling for payment. I refused to pay and kept telling him to come pick up the couches. Finally Aaron called me on July 30th and said that he would schedule a pickup for the next day July 31ST between 1 and 3 pm. I told him I am not paying for the couches and to split the bundle. He said he would see what he could do. He said I would have to pay for July and August, which I refuse to do because I asked for it to be picked up mutiple times. I got off work early on Saturday so I could be home for them to come and they never showed up. Now it is August 2, 2021 and I have received text messages for payment. I consider this harrassment, especially since my payment isnt due until the 3rd of the month. I paid for my washer and dryer, snowblower and bedframe last night on line. I need these employees to keep their words and not say one thing and do another. I tried to give them another chance after the previous manager constantly twisted my words and didnt apply my payments. I will not pay another dime on this couch. I will pay for the tv and soundbar once I know how much it is.

Desired outcome: I want their promises kept and the couches picked up.

Rent-A-Center Living room furniture and a desk and chair

I have been a customer of rent a center since May 2020, they were fine in the store when I was signing the contract, the contract was for a washer and dryer, upon delivery, the manager's husband hooked everything up except the dryer because it needed an electrical cord which they never told me during contract signing, no problem I said, after which I used the washer it started leaking from the hoses, after taking the hoses off, I found that there no washers place inside, rather than wait for them to return with washers, I installed them myself.

I then purchased a bedroom set, which went without any problems at all.

I then inquired about living room furniture and they informed they had a white leather set which was used, I asked if it was clean and in good condition they of course said yes, upon delivery the workers Marcelo and Luis were decent respectful and did a great job. But it was missing the tables, I called and asked they (Jeanette) stated the tables were not included, I asked for the matching tables and they were delivered again with no problem.
My complaint is with management who refuses to give me a detailed run down of my account, I have asked time and time again even today and management is rude as if they have been offended

Rent-A-Center Charging me weekly rental when the item was picked up by rent a center 17 weeks ago they owe me $490.28

This complaint is about Rent a Center. I used the Elizabeth St, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 location for this rental, but that center has closed and the telephone number has been disconnected.
I rented a recliner/rocker because my husband was coming home from a rehab center. It was delivered to my house January 21 or 22, 2021. The Agreement # is [protected]. The weekly rental is $25.64 plus a service charge for a weekly total of $28.84. THE RECLINER WAS PICKED UP BY RENT A CENTER ON FEBRUARY 16, 2021. However, EVERY WEEK SINCE they are charging me. $28.84.
I have written to the company via email once, two more written complaints sent via their website "contact us" function. I can't call New Brunswick because the phone has been disconnected. To date they owe me $490.28 and every week it goes up. I contacted the New Brunswick location before they closed and was sent an email saying the problem was fixed. NO IT WAS NOT? I have received no refund and they are still charging me. I called the corporate Customer Service number and SS on hold for more than 1 hour and I finally hung up.
Please help. If this doesn't work, I'm going to Better Business Bureau and the NBC TV hotline for help.

Rent-A-Center Unethical behavior

My name is Kiara I ordered from rent a center starting in February of this year when I ordered they didn't take an ID or even ask for any information they just took my card number and that's it when it came to the delivery the driver did not help us bring anything upstairs then when we finally got everything upstairs everything except for my couch was missing pieces (screws, parts, bed slates) so we had to drive all the way there which is a distance to pick up all missing parts. The next issue is I fell on tough times with paying my bill due to covid so I was a little behind and one day I was out looking for a new job and I get a phone call asking me if I was home and it was the driver who was outside my house no later than 5 minutes I get a call from 3 of my neighbors telling me there's a man yelling about his money outside my house 2 of my neighbors called the landlord so I got on the phone with the manager and he told me he wasn't going to tell the driver to leave unless I give them a payment of $620.00 I was trying to reason with them and let them know I'm on tough times and I don't need to lose my apartment too and they didn't care they made the driver stand there yelling and he parked right in front of the stairs where no one can walk down the stairs or up the stairs I went back and forth with this manager pleading for them to make this man leave and they did not care and they hung up on me twice finally I decided to give them the last $400.00 I had and my fiancé gave them the rest just to make it stop. I even spoke to the district manager and he threatened me (because when I first got the furniture I didn't sign anything no contract no nothing!) so he threatened me that since I didn't have a contract he was going to tell the police I stole the merchandise even though I have text messages to prove I didn't anyone who is reading this please do not order anything from them their prices are inflated and they are very rude and only care about money not their customers and to add insult to injury they called me the next day after all the pain and suffering they caused me they called again for another payment the next day they are insensitive and the worst place I have ever ordered from! BTW if you're wondering what rent a center store I am referring to it's the one in New Brunswick NJ

Rent-A-Center Nathan

He is the rudest person you come in contact with when entering his store and he can't tell or help with products that are in the store. Customers don't come into rent a center to be treated like a child, people have problems in their lives that take priority over making payments on time. But didn't want to deal with anyone for a couple of days and I tried to explain that to Nathan and he started yelling at m and when I told him to just take my payment he told me I was going to sit there and listen to him yell at me, that will never happen again and the only person I will deal with in that store and the best employee you have in the Spencer store is Skyla Spalding. She helps no matter what she is doing. She should be running that store. Please correct this problem before you lose more customers.

Rent-A-Center Employee/Justin

Good afternoon,

I'm writing to complain about an employee by the name of Justin at the Dothan, Al Rent A Center. He does not deserve to be part of the Rent A Center team. He doesn't follow protocol when calling customers about their bill. He called my job without calling my cellphone first. He was rude as hell and very disrespectful. Now, I see my bill was paid with my debit card without my permission. I have not enrolled in autopay yet so there was no way he had the authorization to use my debit card. I have been a Rent A Center customer for a very long time. No one calls your phone, whether job or cellphone, and talk to people like he talked to me.

Rent-A-Center Billing problems & scams

I have been paying on my washer/dryer for almost 2 years now. Payments had never changed until oct 20202. When I called and talked to the district manager of the store on prince street located in clovis, nm he kept saying that I changed my plan. I told him I never have the option to change it. If I have the option to change something on a contract that was already signed and agreed to why am I being charged late fees? I would like to get this explained because I keep getting charged late fees for an "option" your employees are saying I have when the contracts and my payments have remained the same until recently. Also, I have not been into the store at all since covid-19 started. So in no way have I been into the store personally giving any authorization to remove anything from my contract or plan.

Rent-A-Center Their employees

I am writing this in order to protect other customers, or possibly employees. The employees of this Rent-A-Center location are sexist and talk about women as if they are objects. One individual in particular at this location, Todd, seems to view women as if they are an objects and tries to take them out on dates and even take them home with him, even married women. I believe that this type of behavior should be frowned upon and should not be tolerated within any company. Any male that preys upon women like Todd does, does not need to be working in customer service. I have submitted customer surveys to this particular location about this same issue and he is still working there and still doing the exact same thing. I believe sexual harassment is a zero tolerance or at least I thought it was, and I don't think it is only with employees. What protects the customers?

Rent-A-Center Wrong person and wrong address

I had a knock at my door I open the door and this kid starts telling me I owe rent a center 300 plus dollars he show me the paper and the then the neither of which matched. I was a manager at aarons get your act together
I just had open heart surgery 5 by-passes I was in the hospital 39 days
Nice job making sure you have the right house and person, considering legal action

Rent-A-Center Employees treated wrong by company

RAC wants to have employees self terminate themselves and draw unemployment. This is so wrong. RAC should pay them there regular pay during these hard times. It is obvious that the heads in corporate doesn't give a damn about there employees just like they dont give a damn about the customers. This is so sad and sorry. These owners really need to care alot more.

Rent-A-Center Harassment

I don't know how many years and how many things i've gotten from rent a center but these ppl on broad st providence ri omg, these people call me I swear in a day they call me about 3 times, maybe 4 a day not in a week in a day. And here's a lil story that happened about a month ago wen they came to the house they told one of my kids he's 14 that if I didn't make a payment that they'll call the cops and my child calls my job telling them can I please speak to my mom, I told him don't worry papi they not gonna call the cops. Unbelievable. I was at work I pay about 100 dollars every 3 weeks and since I pay it late, am ok w paying reinstallment fees and late fees but if they're gona keep calling me to ask me wen am I going to make a payment knowing that I go about every 3 weeks why the calls and all the harasment I know I be late at times but jesus, and if I tell him wen he calls about the payment if I tell him ill be in no later than 3 days I believe that he should say ok if u don't come in jerrica then i'll have to make arrangements to come pick it up till your able to pay, not tell me well I can't wait that long.. So me being the person that I am and being always at work and w 9 children to attend already stressed out and to top it off they stressing me out even more. Than I tell them you know what come pick this [censored] up.. Yous are to stressful and in all reality they leave me with no option but to tell them to come pick it up if they can't wait another 3 days I feel so stressed out wen dealing with them since they can't wait for 3 more days, wow that's pathetic. And my point is why the harasment I always go and pay them and if i'm not going in and making the payments right there and then is cause I really don't have it, if I did I will go in there and make a payment like I usually do. At times with out them even calling me if I don't have the money at the moment why the harasment and it's allll the time that there calling me I believe that there's no need for all that extra.

Rent-A-Center unethical behavior

I visited the store during a sales event, to check prices on a bedroom set for my niece. As I was walking around the store I could heard a young man speaking to another man about "college sluts", I listened to him say tell the other gentleman about, how he loves to watch them walk around on these warm days, in their short clothes with [censored] hanging out."

I then cleared my throat to receive an acknowledgment that someone else was in the store. A man then came out of the middle office to greet me. His name tag read Blake. He is not very acommodating almost as if he was annoyed I interupted him. I am thankful that my niece was not with me at this time, for I would not liked for her to hear that kind of conversation in a professional setting, nor would I like for her to second guess what she should be wearing outside due to gentlemen with that out look on women.

Rent-A-Center bedroom suite

rented a bed room suite on dec 19th 2019...remote to headboard didnt work, missing handles from dresser and didnt have the night stand that was advertised as included... guy who delivered it said that company was owned by franchise and just because it's in the add paper doesnt mean its included, he stated they didnt have it in stock so I probably wouldn't b able to get a night stand... he informed me he would have to order a remote and handles for the dresser... I informed him then that I didnt want the set if I wasnt able to actually get the whole set as advertised and that I didnt want 2 pay full price for something I'm not getting all of...stated he understood and would get back with me... a couple of days later he tells me that he has the handles schedules a day to put them on and was a no show after I waited ALL DAY for 2 days finally shows up and my children had to let him in to put handles on due to me being at work, and he knew this before hand... my dresser is still missing a handle I still have no nightstand or working remote...Jan 25th 2020 I speak with joe he says everything actually arrived the day before and they would deliver on monday the 27th... I agreed that would b perfect... on monday after waiting until after 1pm I had to leave to pick up my children and still hadn't heard a word from anyone...jess calls me at 145pm to inform me they were at my house, I explained it would b around 4 before I made it back home... she asked if I would be home tuesday i said yes I'd be home, once again i waited all day tuesday with no word from anyone, no one called nothing... again the same thing wednesday and finally Thursday i actually passed a rent a center truck heading in the direction toward my home at around 3pm i was on my way 2 work... they still havent called or anything so I'm not sure if they came to my home 2 deliver that day or not...today is feb 2... I've been paying full price for something I can hardley use because of the handles on the dresser and no working remote to the head board nor do I have the night stand I'm paying for...

Rent-A-Center washer n dryer set

I rented a washer n dryer set which was great. Then I changed jobs which interfered with making my payment a day or so late. I would call ahead of ti m. H e expressing this and asked if there was a drop box. I worked 12hr day shifts so it was hard. Anyhow because I was a couple of days late she said they were picking up the set. I told her I had all the money from the beginning topay as well, she didn't care. So I waited all day for them to poo uck it up they never came. And he before they closed they called me I couldn't answer because I had to leave for my job 1hr meeting. They never said as time they were coming either. So because I didn't answer they called my mom way in california about not reaching me when they called. Smdh annoying! I waited all say for them though. It's sad they put your personal business out there. I'm done with rent a centers period! There always rude and ne er work with you.
