RainSoft 1 hour 15 minutes I'll never get back

I, like many others got a similar cold call about someone coming out to test my water system. They said that it would take about 15 minutes and that there would even be a fun experiment for my kids to do. They also said that I would receive a $20 gift card to Walmart for agreeing to the test. Last year someone from our town came out to test our water and said it was fine, and it only took 5 minutes. I thought that it was the same people coming to check it again, I was wrong. The guy showed up at 6:30 and didn't start until 6:40. Meanwhile, my kids are fussy, one hasn't finished her homework and the other two need to take baths. Needless to say, my wife was not happy. He then begins the demonstration and he does a good enough job showing me that the water from my tap was dirtier than the water that he ran through his filter. Still, I'm wondering how much this is going to cost me and if the town said my water was fine, do I really need this. I mentioned that I was leaving for Mexico in two days and he said, really, well you know the only difference between water in the US and in Mexico is that we can afford the chemicals. Really? Oh, is that why I nor anyone else I know has ever gotten sick from drinking the water in the US, but my wife has gotten sick from drinking the water in Mexico. Anyway, he kept asking if my wife would come downstairs because he wanted to do the demo for both of us, but she didn't and he said that he would continue the demo anyway but that it was against policy. I finally just asked him, how much? To which he relplied $7000. But, that it was only going to cost me $139 a month and that between the money that it was going to save me on my electric bill and the money I was already spending on cleaning supplies that it would actually save me money. He also even offered to give me 10 years worth of cleaning supplies if I agreed to buy. If the product was a good as he claimed, why would he offer all of these incentives? Plus after over an hour of listening to this song and dance, there was no experiement for my kids, my daughter got mad at me because I didn't help her with her homework, my wife yelled at me, and I didn't even get the Walmart gift card! Rainsoft, just so no!

I received a postcard in the mail advertising Starbucks, all I had to do was fill out the postcard, which asked questions about my coffee consumption, and return it for my gift card. A few weeks later a company calling themselves Environmental Water Marketing called. I thought it was a non-profit at first and needed volunteers. This company referred to the postcard I filled out and requested to conduct a water safety test at my house, not knowing what i was getting myself into, I agreed. A Rain Soft salesman arrived at my home- I was shocked! I never would have agreed if they represented themselves accurately. I felt violated and offended by the company. I allowed the sales man to conduct his test and then informed him that I was offended and not at all interested but then asked for the Starbucks card. He stated the company would mail it. I contacted the company, which you can only reach through a Madison, TN office while I am in Clarksville, and informed them that I did not receive my Starbucks gift card. The man on the phone stated that I left in the middle of the test to go to the store and that I never returned! Total LIE- this company had demonstrated a lack of integrity on multiple levels. I will NEVER consider a rain soft product EVER! They really have made me feel like a fool and I am offended by their actions.

Loved your post... you had me laughing. My husband was scheduled for an APPOINTMENT tonight... in the midst of me trying to move our home, I was a tad miffed with him for making this appointment for today at this hour. I get to drive in rush hour traffic to hear this BS presentation so he thinks he can win a John deer riding mower...ROFLOL>>>>...I called him laughing after reading your post and told him I would get there when I arrived but not to fear he would be a captive of the Rainsoft Muscleman who had no plans to let him go until (A) he submitted or (B) until Mommy put a stop to this and threw his butt out da door!...My hubbie immediately called and cancelled the appointment and I had a well need laugh... Thanks to all for the heads up...

RainSoft interest rate increases

I purchased a rainsoft system in 2006 - despite never being late on a single payment and even paying ahead my interest rates were increased by american finco to 21%. When I was sold the water system the rainsoft dealer told me that my interest rates would never increase past the 11.99% apr we agreed to. (This was also too high but the slaesman came in and scared us into buying a system.) anyway I started seeing the increases in the rates and called american finco to dispute - I was told that american finco had made a business decision to increase everyones rates despite their credit scores and payment history. I was now locked into a 21% apr for the next 4 years of payments and could not do anything about it. I contacted rainsoft and they told em they had no idea why american finco would do this. They told me they would find me a new finance company. They sent me to fifth third bank - I filled out all the information only to get a credit card in the mail with a $500 limit - which I never asked for then 53rd charged me a $29 initiation fee and when I didnt pay it - they charged me late fees. I finally got them to remove the late fees & initation fees for a card I never requested!

How can this happen & where is my bailout! American finco get a bailout & then gets to raise my rates - I am a paying customer who has never been late on a payment & I get screwed - I would never recommend rainsoft or american finco to anyone!

This same thing happened to us. My husband and I bought a system and so did my parents. American Finco increased both our rate from 17.99% to 25.99%. We both called and was told all of the rates increased. We were also told by the salesperson that if we paid $106 a month the system would be paid for in 5 years. We now know that is not even possible. While I really like my Rainsoft system I feel we were totally misled by the salesperson and that American Finco is ripping us off!

RainSoft Poor Customer Service

I bought the Rain Soft bull and only after a few months my water system seemed to not be working. My dishes were nasty and when I would wash my truck and spray it off, it would turn white(my truck is blue). I ask the rain soft rep to have my water tested twice and each time he would say someone would be out in a day or so but still nothing after a month. I also ran out of automatic dishwashing gel( they only gave me two gallons) and asked for some more and they told me that it would be $15. What happened to the 5 years free deal the rep told me about. Nothing but lies I guess. I am refusing to pay until I get service and I don't care how mad they get because this is a bunch of bull.

Lets just say never buy a rainsoft water softener.I bought the system about 2 years ago. It stop working 6 months after I got it. It froze up the first winter I had it. A neighbor called me at work one saturday morning to tell me there was water coming out the side of my house and going all down the side of the street. I rushed home and found water shooting...

RainSoft scam

Wasted 2.5 hours on this scam tiring to get my wife and I to but this water softener and to make our water cleaner than the tap water. Someone called and said all I had to do is to get my water tested and I would get a $20.00 gift card from home depot. Nothing like that happened at all. The sales man almost called my wife and I stupid but he didn't. He tried and say that as a family that we spend $166.00 a month on cleaning supplies thats crazy. But he was very pushy and wouldn't take no for anything. I can't believe that Home Depot would run a scam like that. Every thing that the woman said on the phone was misleading. He didn't know what I was talking about for the gift card. THIS IS A SCAM 100% A SCAM. Don't let them in you home. They target Home owners. Oh one thing I forgot you don't get something for nothing

I have had this same problem. The sales guy came to the house and I almost had to physically remove him from my house. I finally told him to leave or I would call the police. He kept calling his boss and kept trying to cut us a deal. It was really annoying. He wouldnt accept no for an answer.

RainSoft lien on home

My home has a lien from the previous owners who purchased a Rainsoft treatment system. They said they tried to return it, but the company wouldn't take it back. I'd like to contest the lien. Any help or advice or referrals for legal help?

I had a terrible experience with Rain Soft.
Problems began within a few weeks of installation when one of the tanks sprung ruptured. Called for service that took nearly a week. Serviceman stated the reason for the tank rupture was my water pressure was to high. What needs to be done? Install a pressure regulator at a cost of $250 plus installation of $75.00. I stated Rain Soft should have determined my water pressure was to high when the system was installed. This point turned into a heated conversation and I told the serviceman to leave. I then called the Rain Soft company in Tulsa. The manager was extremely rude and condescending. He wasn't willing to do anything about the service call or additional expenses. Rain Soft would replace the ruptured tank under warranty but I had to put a line pressure regular on my home at my expense. This really upset my wife and I. I hired a registered plumber to install the regulator $37.50, plumbers $40.00. then seven weeks before ruptured tank was installed.
I called the manager back and told him the whole house waters filter system was junk and wanted it removed from my home at his expense. You should have heard the filthy language which I was recording at this time due to my previous experience with this man.
I had 7 previous service calls for problems and never had the same serviceman. Its unbelievable how they treat their customers
.
Finally I hired a respected attorney and filed suit. I won.

Just a note. I called the last serviceman who had come to my home for my last service call and asked him if he knew anyone who would purchase my $7500 dollar system for a $150.00. As he laughed "No Way" I wouldn't try to sell your system to anyone its junk, the company is having a lot of trouble with my model system. I still have the system in my basement disconnected and taking up needed space.

Hope this information will keep someone from making the same mistake I did. Don't do any business with this company.

Do Not Fall for this scam please read on this company. And Home Depot they have truly teamed up to take advantage of local consumers. We thought we were getting a product that would in the long run save us money. They used unethical sales tactics gave us 5 years worth of soap that is not 5 years worth or a good product. They claim to back there product to the fullest yet will not take it back. Its not worth the 5033$ home loan from Home Depot . We have 3 kids under 7 and did not read the 3 day return policy. We have busy lives and got conned and are now stuck with A 5033 water filtration system ( the economic) which you have to change salts and filters yourself. We have to purchase the salts and anything you'll need to keep up with this every 3 months I believe they said. this product is inconvenient for the "economic" price they are selling it. It is a huge ripoff, My Local Distributor/Installer company is Sweetwater In San Antonio Texas. Do not make the mistake of falling for these pushy scam artists, I have called them finally after using this product and realizing it is not worth. That we are 4 months into it and no matter how much time we give it, its the worst lifetime purchase we have made. They will not even take the product back they have a NO BUY BACK policy. Wish they made that as clear as they did with all the benefits we would see, From "investing" in them. It is not an invest, it does not save you money, "5 years" worth of soap (6 months at most) will not save you anything because the soap does not work. I still have to purchase my own cleaners, shampoo, etc. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE PURIFIED WATER AND SAVE MONEY! DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY OR FALL FOR THEM RAINSOFT PRODUCTS ...LOCAL SAN ANTONIO SWEETWATER DISTRIBUTOR. You can purchase a water softner for much cheaper or find a different company that doesn't over charge for water ... compare it to Ferrari vs. Nissan.. Well its not a car its water.. and only water. there system can be bought and have excellent results at a much lower price regardless of there sales pitch. ITS WATER.. and we overpaid..

Well worth the money I've invested into this product and company. American made and what a job they did on the installation! You get what you pay for. My sales rep was informative and polite. Pressure comes from within! I knew I had to do something and I'm glad they approached me at Home Depot. 1 begrudgen sales rep who worked there for a week shouldn't ruin a companies reputation!

I believe in this company. They've always taken care of me if I had a service issue. I previously owned a Culligan water softener that constantly broke down and i would wait a week for service. Do your self a favor, spend the extra $$ for the LIFETIME warrenty and a compnay that stands behind their products. Don't be fooled by those negative posts

I was a Rain Soft salesman; the good news is the 2010 updated model does work and does do what it's supposed too. It’s in my house and I'm keeping it. The BAD NEWS is Professional Water Services (in Bristol Pa) One of the original RainSoft dealers (1975) are, just like all the other dealers, major Rip-off artists! $8, 390.00 - drop to $7, 390.00 and then pressure the heck out of you until you ask them to leave, then they insist on calling the office ONLY to get you on the phone with a very savvy manager who will start all over again.
*They even made a good profit on me charging me $4, 830.00 + 338.00 tax =$5, 168.00 Ouch!

The manager at P.W.S. is from the Corp office and I heard him say over and over again, ..."you have to keep closing, close close close, " (that's sales talk for close the deal, push push push) when a fellow salesman said, "but you will offend the home owner" the Corp manager said, "I don't care." and he said this all week long in the training, "buyers are liars, I don't care, I don't care! You have to close'em"

If you could get them down to $3, 200.00 with installation and a lifetime warranty, don't keep the soap, don't keep the air cleaner then it's worth it. Oh please do not become bedazzled by 4 yrs of free soap - it wasn't free you paid for it... hello! $7, 390.00 and don't be impressed with the free Air purifiers - you paid for that too $7, 390.00 and don't be impressed with the free installation.. You guessed it, you paid for that too... $7, 390.00 IT'S all worked into the price!

Their tactics are brutal on the customer, Home Depot should be ashamed!
WARNING: they install the NEXT DAY even on SUNDAYS because they know if you get a chance to look on the INTERNET you will cancel. They also believe you (the average home owner) is too stupid to know your 3 day Right of Rescission is still in-effect even though they installed the next day! Fill out your 3-day form get it post marked registered return mail, and mail it off. If they don't remove it call the Attorney General, the BBB, and Home Depot Credit line.

Salesman commissions as of my training 2010:
11% to 17% of the total cost before tax.
That’s $860. to $1, 256.00 per sale!- now you understand the motivation of the salesman (water tester haha) to close the deal tonight!

WARNING: Professional water Service will have access to your credit report and all private banking and home information once you sign the application.

On a good note underneath all the price gouging and unethical high pressure sales tactics, demeaning and uncaring treatment of their salesman –I still believe the Borchainer family actually does mean well, they’ve just lost their way and have become seduced by greed, and bitter by their own karma from years of miss-leading the average consumer to buy something you can get from Pelican for $1, 500.00 without all the fanfare.http://www.pelicanwatertechnologies.com/combo_series.php click to watch all 3 videos

How sad it must be for them to own a business so hated by so many scorned customers across the entire country. Funny: a system that works teamed with a company with no conscience equals: low ethics, low standard of morality, a presumption that You are stupid and fueled by greed. hum I believe these are also the devils qualities.

All commentary is expressly my opinion only, based on what I’ve seen, heard, was trained to say, and actually did in the home on behalf of my commission and RainSoft through the Dealership of Professional Water Services, Inc.

RainSoft bad service

About one year ago I had a rainsoft water softener installed in my home . When the salesman came to my house he went on and on to tell me how rainsoft is all about costomer satistfaction and is in such good standing with the bbb showing a great number of endorsements corperations that currently used there product. It seemed like a great investment that would protect my houses plumbing not to mention all the other perks(which are not entirely true)

it was to my great dissapointment that the installation of the reverse osmosis filter under the kitchen sink was very poorly installed in a very unworkman like manor causeing the cupboard floor to collapse under the wieght of the tank after the particalboard had been saturated with water over a long period of time rainsoft is not excepting responsability at this time perhaps others would like to start a class action suit.

RainSoft Rip off

Rain Soft does rip people off. I have a friend thats a rep. Before we becam friends he didn't know that I was a new Rain Soft Customer. He needs to release a tell all. They tell them what to say and the water testing kit is a set up. They use only there items and are vauge when answering questions. They install the sysyem immediately so that you can't do research or change your mind.

I have had my water tested by 3 private companies and my water is still testing hard. The price of the sysyem is ridiculous. The rep got to my husband not me. The system still isn't doing what it needs to do and has a leak. When Rain Soft Techs test my water...it reads soft...three other independant companies and test kits that I have purchased say that the water is hard...i'll let you draw your own conclusions..

Rain Soft is the biggest rip off on the market, I paid $5, 000.00 for a well system it has never worked and every 2 months we ar paying for service calls of $130.00 to fix their system due to timmers breaking and parts not working, They will not give you any manules to help you troubleshot the system yourself. After a 2 year period we have spent over $900.00 to fix the system that was under warrenty. Please do not get their system RUN! Their is no help from the service center or any back up.

Rain soft is a big scam. We got sucked in to the demonstration right after we purchased our first home. We signed the contract and the installation took place the next day. I had the three day cancellation policy on our agreement and wished to cancel but was told that becasue the installation process was complete that wasn't possible. I never noticed a difference in my water quality for the year I actually used the product. Then the water softener began to fill and drain constantly. It's in our basement and were not aware until we had a 900.00 water bill over two months of trying to locate a leak. I made several complaints and was told I would have to pay outrage service call fees. Finally my last contact was I was not going to pay anymore unless they resloved the issue. They were more than welcome to come pick up their equipment that I had not been using for years. I heard nothing for over a year and a half until I was being sued for not paying for remaining balance of 1200.00. After paying 7000.00 already plus the water bill. Don't trust rainsoft.

We almost bought a rain soft system last week and I am so glad that we were able to cancel in time. The system seems absolutely overpriced and the sales tactics are pretty unethical. I am doing research to see if there is anything that we actually do need to do with our water other than filter the drinking water. If we decide to purchases a water softener or a reverse osmosis system it will certainly not be with rain soft. From reading these comments it seems as if a legal complaint should be made against this company.

We have owned the Rainsoft equipment for almost 5 years.
The system has been non-operational more than it has worked. This company is a scam. The high pressured sales tactics used by the sales rep should have warned me from the get go. They were very prompt to get the system installed before you could have second thoughts. We recently had our system serviced in June for the annual fee of $125. Now less than six months later, the system is not functioning AGAIN. After speaking with Nick Snyder at [protected], he informed me that for $40 he would have a technician come out and investigate the problem. Nick also informed me that their services carry a 30-day warranty. What kind of crap is that. This system is a money pit. I wouldn't be surprised if they purposely send people out to tamper with the equipment so that they can make more money on service and repairs. Beware of rainsoft. They are a fraud.

We bought a home with a rainsoft system already installed. The service calls and maintainence are extremely expensive.Don't expect any trouble shooting over the phone. The sales rep. knows nothing about the product but will have someone call me. Yeah, right. It amazes me the amount of dissatisfied customers that say the same thing over and over. What a ripoff. Major scam. How is it that this company is allowed to stay in business? There must be something that can be done.

RainSoft guarantee

In May 2009 we moved from a house in Sanford, Florida to Orlando, Florida . We had to downsize to the economy to a trailer on real property, and it has a well. WE bought our old rainsoft equipment from our house to see if we could fix it work out here. No problem said rainsoft, but they would have to refurbish a few things, and add a carbon tower to the tune of $1, 600.00. with a guarantee of a year . Well it is now December 2009, and we have had at least 8 service calls, 3 pumps, and still no good water. My husband has been out of work for a year and a half, and i am disabled so there is no money in fact we had to borrow the money for this equipment. They came out today and informed us that the system was put in wrong, and that it will keep on breaking down, and that we had 2 options one would be $350.00 and the other would be $2.200.00.and there is still 6 months left on the guarantee. It is not our fault that their service people don't know what they are doing. It is like we just threw $1, 600.00 on the ground. We are on a fixed income, and can't afford this we haven't even paid back the $1, 600.00 yet .If you are looking to buy anything from Rainsoft BEWARE!

* it is possible in my short time with Rain Soft(PWS bristol Pa) I did not learn enough to have a better opinion of them. Please do your own investigating and give equal time to both sides: Love'em or Hate'em You decide

RainSoft Ignoring customer's problems with their product.

I own a Rain Soft water treatment unit. A few months ago my neighbor's property had minor flooding. She called a leak detection company to see what was causing the flooding. The leak detection company traced the problem to my Rain Soft unit which was improperly installed in violation of county code and malfunctioning directing water underground directly into my neighbor's yard. The leak detection company turned my unit off, I had to pay the leak detection company, and they documented the problem in writing so that I could get in touch with Rain Soft to get them to reimburse me for the costs I incurred because of the improper installation and also to come to do whatr is necessary for the unit to be in compliance.

I called Rain Soft's headquarters and explained what had happened to a women by the name of Susan Shoemaker who told me to send copies of the paperwork to her and that everything would be taken care of. I would be reimbursed the leak detection costs, corrections would be made for a proper and county compliant installation, and I was assured that anything that was necessary to be done to get the unit functioning properly would be taken care of without having to pay a service fee.

That was over three months ago and nothing has been done by Rain Soft to rectify the problems. I've not been able to use the unit so I'm not getting any of the benefits of the unit. I've left voice mails for Ms Shoemaker who doesn't seem to be available to speak with personally anymore. I've never gotten any return calls from her or anyone at Rain Soft. No mail communications either.

Rain Soft doesn't assume responsibility when problems arise that they caused. Their word is not worth two cents. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Seek out other water treatment systems from other companies.

RainSoft Avoid them

On December 21st I got a call from this company so called Rain Soft for a short survey. A few days later, they called to say that I had won a free, no obligation gift, and they only wanted to test our water. The free gift was a two night stay at a hotel and there were to be many choices of nice hotels to stay at. I was very skeptical, I did not wanted to do anything without my husbands concern so I had the lady call back and talk to my husband. He agreed to let someone come out and test our water and give us the gift. The lady said it would take 45-55 minutes. When the man came out, he tested our water and demonstrated his purifying system for about an hour and a half. I did not stay in the room for this, although the man invited me to listen as well. When I finally came in, I asked if my husband had received the gift yet. He said no, but that he was sure he would be getting it any time. At this point, the salesman said that in order for us to receive the gift, both decision makers in the home had to be listening and participating in the presentation. He claimed that we were told this on the phone, which we were not, and of course, he hadn't bothered to mention it either. He said we already knew that, and he was just doing his job. So, after wasting an hour and a half of our time, and much more because of the upset he caused, we have nothing to show for it. By the way, the water purification system is incredibly expensive. Great scam artist they should be exposed so that others can avoid them.

RainSoft incompentence and mistakes

I also was drawn in my the sweepstakes at Home Depot.
The salesman's speel is 2 hours long if you let him in. It's high pressure. He won't leave. We needed a water treatment because of our well so we purchased it for that reason. The company opens up TWO lines of credit for the sale. I didn't find out it was on my credit until I printed my report recently and saw it on there. I called Rainsoft and asked them to take care of it and get American FINCO off my credit so that it doesn't show an open and closed account on my credit and they told me to call FINCO. I said I didn't open the account. Your company did. The lady said, "No we didn't." So I asked her, "Well, who did?" ###s. It's been like this since we purchased this product. Just get a Brita.

Be careful because then if you try to work out a situation with their bad service they have sold your account to another credit agency (as seems to be typical). No ones seems to care about your quality of service.

RainSoft scam

My husband was at Home Depot, waiting for an interview and saw the sign about entering your sweepstakes to win a $1000 gift card. So, he filled it out. Several weeks later we get a call from Rain Soft and they said in order for us to officially be entered into the Home Depot contest we had to get our water tested. Then, she said after we get our water tested they will send us a $20 gift card. She said they are performing water testing in our neighborhood. I asked her if they were going to try and sell us something and she said NO. We'll when the guy comes from Rain Soft to test our water that was fine but then he went on and on and on trying to sell us their Rain Soft water system. We couldn't get him to stop and we had told him our financial situation and that we couldn't afford to by Rain Soft. See, my husband lost his construction company and has been out of work for over a year. We are struggling to save our house and buy groceries, but this sales guy from Rain Soft kept pressuring us to buy their system. It took forever to get the guy to leave. We told him that we don't and can't buy anything and that the lady who scheduled the visit said they were just testing our water and were not going to try to sell us anything. Anyway, Rain Soft misled us to just weasle their way into our house under faulse pretence. Is this a company you want to do business with? Oh, ya.. and the $20 gift card we were suppose to get for getting our water tested, that was also missleading. We got a coupon in the mail from Home Depot that said if you spend $150 you'll get $20 off. That is not a $20 gift card in my eyes. The whole thing was such an aweful experience. We would never intentionally invite a sales person into our home. We can't even afford to buy groceries, come on! Then, when we say NO, this guy won't take NO for an answer and leave our house. This experience left a discusting tast in our mouths about Home Depot. It was a very shady thing to do. All my husband wanted to do was enter your contest for the $1000 gift card. We are serioulsy considering taking our future business to Lowes moving forward and we've already started telling our friends about this aweful experience.

I just got a postcard in the mail today, looked like an official correspondence from Amazon. Said that if I filled out a brief survey and sent the postcard back in, I'd get a $20 Amazon gift card. The survey just asked questions about how often I make purchases from Amazon and if I use other online sites for shopping. I started filling it out but then noticed the return address was Rainsoft of Northern Michigan. Never heard of the company before but decided to do a Google search. Ended up finding this site, glad I did! The postcard says nothing about a water test or anything but I'm guessing this is their new ploy to get people's contact info and try to sell them crap. Glad I found this, definitely not falling for it!

I was also at Home Depot when all this happened to me. At first I thought "what a great service!" and was interested to see what a water test would show. A couple weeks latter I started getting unsolicited calls, which I had been ignoring until my curiosity perked up. When I finally answered they hit me up with about 20-25 questions - and NEVER gave me the results of the damn test! They assume I want to wait for one of their representatives to come to my home - uh, WHY? I sent the water to get a result, period. I asked "where are you all going with this?" and I could tell the person was surprised I even asked, but she kept on rattling on and on, throwing in the bit about the coupons and contest, like a gave a flying frak. I don't know if it was a scam but I'd tend to agree with the sentiment around here - its lame of the Depot to have any part of this. Big Thumbs Down!

Same thing just happened to me. Just got off the phone with them. I signed up to win a washer/dryer and they just called to "confirm my address" and offer me a free water test. I politely declined and she went on and on. I politely said, "no thank you" and she hung up on me! How unprofessional can you be for a company? I suppose she took our name out of the sweepstakes, too, but I'll never know. What a huge scam.

yup, me too. all i wanted was the free $20 gift card. and i was curious about my city tap water. ok so it sucks, but i buy water from a water store at 35 cents a gallon. it works fine for me. and when the guy came he tested all my water, he stopped testing my water store water after it turned blue like his rain soft water. he sounded surprised when i told him that i wont make a $6000 in 1 hour! i needed to do more research. he packed up and left nice and smooth, so maybe he figured why waste more time. he came on saturday and today i did my research, all i can find is complaints against the company. i'm so glad i am not gullible and fall prey to predatory lenders and scam artists. it may just be a great product, i know i need a water softener and purifier, but not at their prices! and certainly not a decision to make in one hour. the "free" cleaning products was a big 'red flag'. good luck people, be smart, do research. and DO NOT FINANCE with any company like that, get your own financing first.

Wow, sounds like the exact same thing that happened to me last night. I got the exact same call from a representative who said they were doing water testing which was great for me beacause the city I live in sent out a letter regarding lead in the water so I was all for getting a free water test. The sales associate for the company came in and started testing the water...they didn't tell us about what exactly they found in the water. After the test they sat us down and started talking about a solution, which was a $7K investment...they made it sound cheap saying it will really cost $59 a month or something like that with all of the savings in additional cleaners, then I said OK...once I asked about the interest rate which was 18% I rethought the scenario and asked what the monthly payment would be and they the salesperson said $198...WTF! I then said no and I was being pressured into buying...I flat out told the associate I WILL NOT BUY ANYTHING THIS EXPENSIVE WITHOUT THINKING IT OVER SOME MORE. That is when I think they got it through their head that I was not worth the time which is fine with me, I will just take my business elsewhere. They then left and I started doing some research on the company, supposedly they have a great product which is WAY overpriced but like I read earlier, their tactics to get you to buy the product is extremely shady. They also offered like $4K worth of cleaning supplies if we sign that day also...in the back of my head I was thinking, "If they product is so great and worth it then why would you have to offer the supplies as a bonus?!?!". That tells me that either 1) their product is not that great so they need to sugar-coat it or 2) They are making you pay for all of the free stuff also.

I am glad to hear that other people had the same experience I did...I am still looking for a water-treatment solution and will probably NOT go with this company.

Cheers

RainSoft No gas card as promised

We agreed to receive a $100 gas card for a simple demostration. WEll thats what the Rainsoft people said on the phone before they came over. The guy went on for 2 hours! I couldn't take it anymore so I asked how much it was going to cost. He came up with the price $15, 000 but would give it to us for $12, 000. Crazy! I of course said no and he grabbed all paperwork and stuff and threw it in his briefcase and walked out. My husband and I felt like we just got punked. A few days later a rep. for Rainsoft called to drop the price to $5, 000 and we said no. I told the rep I just want the giftcard that was promised to us. She said the guy who gave the demonstration was dissappointed that he took the time come by our house and we didn't buy anything. I told them I could care less. They said Home Depot would be mailing soon. Well its been 3 months and no gift card. BEWARE!

We had Rain Soft come out and install the entire water system May 2017.. We were looking forward to having clean fresh drinking water without the sulfa taste and smell. After 2-3 days it was put in, it did not work. We had people from Rain Soft come out over and over telling us story after story. We would have payed 3 times the cost to have good water. We were told it would work absolutely and that if there were any problems they would come out right away. Each time we called them, it was one lie after another. We asked them to please take out the system because we had no luck with it thinking maybe because we lived out in the country. All they needed to do was be honest with us! We got screwed big time. We refused to make any payments and we told them to get it off our property right away. They would call constantly and lie or make promises they would come back over and fix it. Well it never happened. We really wish they would have been honest, but they were big time liars. Everything in the contract was bull. We are still stuck with this ugly useless thing on our property. They never came out to remove it. We are trying to find a lawyer to consult. There are a lot more details I can give you about Rain Soft and the people who are working for them. Thank You.

Yes, I'd say this post is a little distrubing..."normal" people don't opt for a shotgun, lest the person they'd like to use it on were brandishing one as well...the salesman, I would gather, likely didnt bring one with him, let alone inside someone's home, if he does keep one in his vehicle. This post sounds along the same lines of someone saying "I didn't like how the girl at McDonald's took my order, because she was a ###, so I pulled out my shotgun at her." I'd say any breakdown in this sale was a comparitive fault...

People don't realize that there are alot of factors in a successful sale: 1.) The buyer must need the product, 2.) The buyer must want to be sold the product, and 3.) The product must be to the standard of the buyer. If any ONE of these points is not a YES, and a sale still takes place, then the fault lies on the buyer. Given that there are no details, one can only assume that the buyer didn't want the product being offered and was offended by being given a sales pitch, and, therefore, the salesperson should not have been invited into the home, even if it was just for the sake of obtaining a free gift card.

At any rate, this post isn't even credible, given it's outlandish nature...the complaint doesn't even say what reasons were given, besides the salesperson was an "###, " and the point of someone wanting to pull out a shotgun, and then goes on to say that he now keeps it loaded, as if the salesman were going to be creeping around his home in hopes he will change his mind and make the purchase.

I came across this blog & I was looking at the similarities to my situation. We agreed to the free water test in around 1992 in NJ. The guy had a shirt & tie & slicked back hair and seemed very courteous and nice. The same unlimited soap BS was around even back then. I was told I had to make a decision during the sales call to get the free soap. I told him that I never make a decision like that on the same day, I always sleep on it. He called his manager from the telephone & of course the manager said that he could not extend the offer. Once the salesman realized that I was definitely not going to sign he became surly & confrontational, I of course told him to basically leave the premises immediately at that point. It almost seemed for a while that he would try to get physical & I was ready in case he did. I feel bad, because I am sure that these guys could really intimidate and scare an elderly or infirmed person. These guys have no concience, it's on of the top two high pressure sales experiences I had in my life (the other was a time share conference). These guys are ###, stay away.
