This company engages in aggressive price tactics. First, if you reserve a storage unit they will call you constantly to get your signup information and start the rental that day, not the reservation date.
Second, you will get a price increase of at least 20-30% within 60 days following rental. Third, they force their own insurance on you as a matter of policy which increases the rental price not disclosed.
Forth, there are no carts for move in and the office is rarely open even though office hours are 9am to 6pm.
We had a reservation for an out of state move and the employee of this company contacted us more than 12 times in 48 hours to get the signup information over the phone. We did not want to provide the information over the phone to a random person that we did contact directly. They contacted me, therefore, it could be anyone. So before the reservation was to start, this employee cancelled our reservation without knowing it. We only learned of this upon arrival and had to pay full in store price nearly triple the rate!
Getting into this place with your possessions is challenging, getting out is a more difficult matter as they play games that are very childish and self serving. The employee we managed to get smelled like pot from a distance down the hallway and was very disrespectful. The same employee would use the side entrance outside the camera view to access a vehicle and again once walking down the hallway left an odor of pot. I thought about calling the police when this person attempts to drive away, but since we just moved in, I left that for another time. Clearly the person is intoxicated.
As for the company, if you are short term for your possessions Public Storage may work for you. However, if you are in the Military or traveling, consider your options and level of trust. This company violates the very principle of decency from price gouging tactics and very unprofessional characters as employees.
Recommendation: Really consider your options, this company does not care about customers. If you are short term, maybe, but long term storage you have options. Be informed, this company is as bad as it gets.
That is a mess of hidden fees, cancelled reservations, and an employee who should not be on shift. Here is the practical path: dispute the in-store rate with your card issuer as a bait-and-switch, citing the cancelled reservation. File a complaint with your state attorney general and the consumer protection division about the undisclosed insurance and the 20-30% increase within 60 days. Report the intoxicated employee to the district manager in writing, with the date, time, and hallway location. If you are military, contact your base legal office, they can pressure Public Storage on the reservation cancellation. Document every call, every name, and every price change. Do not let them keep the triple rate without a fight.
