Sounds like you have a ripe case for your state AG and a class action suit waiting to be "harvested."
They are all scams. There's nothing they do that you can't do yourself. you can negotiate those lower payments yourself. If you are in debt first head to www.debtorboards.com.

What are you gonna do is the important question? You need to approach this with a very big stick! You need to do a cease and desist letter to the collector, CMRRR. In it include copies of the original bill at the hospital, your payment evidence followed by the letters confirming 0 owed. Tell those in no uncertain terms you will sue them out of business and you don't mind to own a little collection agency for yourself. Copy the doctors office, your state AG and FTC.

Now that you know that I hope you learned your lesson well - don't play with snakes, you will get bitten. Henceforth no cash no buy. Just save and pay cash. That $652 would be better off in your retirement account, right? That's what my financial adviser says, google him dave ramsey. You closed that account already right?

Something else is make your last payment before the second last bill is out don't wait until the last month. Mail the check using registered mail return receipt requested.
Write a nice letter documenting what happened and reference the telephone conversations. Then send it to that person via registered mail return receipt requested. mention his name in the letter, his telephone number, every thing. Demand your money be returned within say 7 or 14 days. Put cc your state AG and FTC. This part is important - send a copy of that letter to your state AG and FTC.

Next time you get a loan open an account for that purpose. As soon as you make the last payment go close it. Also record all conversations that way you can burn them on CD and include that CD to that guy, the AG and FTC. That will put his company in hot soup. They will see you are not taking their cr@p and why risk their license, etc over little cash.

I am disappointed that seemingly smart people are doing dumb things. Please follow these steps to protect yourself next time.

Also report them to the police, your consumer protection authorities, the attorney general's office. Be good if you can write a letter and copy it to them. Make a loud noise.

BTW I am a dude not a dudette.
Hey Atreyu57
I agree i think Satisfied Customer822 is an imposter, a phantom poster from inside the CA pretend industry.

Don't take any abuse from anybody. They should treat you with respect, it's the only way two people can come to an amicable agreement. But collectors like to get you emotional, talk over you, etc so you can make irrational/emotional decisions to pay them without thinking. before you talk to them go to debtorboards.com, learn all you can and get great help on how to handle these low lifes.

never pay with your bank account again. contact your bank with an alert for fraud to refund your cash and close your account. these crimesters will attempt to debit again if it's still open. if they are abroad i guess contact the authorities in their country.

go to debtorboards.com forum those guys can help you a lot with this. it's a ripe lawsuit that can put some money back in your pocket.
and you need to close your account. cos you will pay by check and they will attempt to debit for sure. or send them a CMRRR instructing them authority to debit your account is forthwith rescinded and payments will be made by check only. then keep that letter and copies of those cashed checks for life. chances are your debt will be re-sold and a new collection attempt will be hoisted on you.
www.debtorboards.com is a free forum of very sophisticated consumers who offer lot's of help on CA
Just record the calls, head to debtorboards.com. lot's of free help from sophisticated and/or angry consumers angered by these types of collection practices.

Refute it with, lodge a complaint with your bank like fraud and demand a refund. Contact Trend and demand your money back within x days. If they claim you renewed demand the renewal evidence. It's better to do everything in writing so mail a registered letter by CMRRR. Copy it to your state AG, FTC and your bank. debtorboards.com is useful with such help

Write a cease and desist letter by registered mail CMRRR. in it also demand your money back. next time use wellsfargo identity theft prog. it's $1 first month and $16 thereafter. get your report then cancel before the first month is over. i just did it, no issues.
