I recently bought an account on playerauctions and the original owner managed so steal the account back after we had paid for it. This has happened two times. The first time he took it back just after 2 weeks of owning it. The second time he took it back about 3 months later. Paypal refuses to help as well as playerauctions.com. They claim to offer a guarantee towards this exact problem but they refuse to help. The customer service is horrible, all you get from them is a chat box with people who just tell you to email their "trust final resolution center" who takes 15 days at least to get a response back from if you're lucky enough to even get one at all. Don't use this website it is full of scams and fraud

They suspended my account simply because I live in the same house as my brother, yet he and I both have WoW accounts, why? Just an awful company!

The site is created to mislead buyers in every way possible, so they just get the sales done. They don't highlight any of the important stuff, so you will definitely lose if you are a first time buyer.

Insurance is a MUST, if you still plan to buy, a lot of the accounts don't have this option. The warnings about no insurance is in regular font, within all the text after you click the purchase option. It doesn't come up in the offer details when you are just browsing!

If you must, DEAL WITH CAUTION, IT'S HIGH RISK!

PlayerAuctions is very corrupt. Turbine informed me that they viewed character information displayed on their website and banned my lord of the rings account as it matches the same description as another account for sale on playerauctions.

Here is what Turbine said in their original e-mail.

Your account was permanently suspended for being offered for sale on Playerauctions.com. The Code of Conduct clearly states: 10. You may not advertise the intent to, commit the act of, or facilitate the ability of others to commit the act of, unauthorized selling, buying, transferring or sharing access to any Game account.

Should I even bother e-mailing PlayerAuctions or am I wasting my time? Years worth of my time wasting + all the cash I lost. Lesson learned I guess, don't buy from PlayerAuctions.

Buying/Selling accounts is a total major scam. If you don't have the original credit card and game serial key, then you will lose the account eventually. It's a scam most sellers use. Normally they wait a while depending on how desperate and amount of accounts they have. I have had accounts where they waited a year before claiming it back. They are hoping you quit playing the game in the long term.

Simply don't buy accounts because they can get it back.

@muddflap & PR

Thats the problem with playerauctions though.. You want help anywhere on their site and you get Koreans with copy/paste responses or emails that happen 2 weeks later with nothing helpful. Do we really have to complain on here before we get any customer service whatsoever? What do you have to say about your 1800 number that leads to no one or the live chat that has the same robot responses? Come on this is not customer service. Click on the Contact Us button and make it mean something so it doesn't have to get this far.

I did another transaction with Playerauctions.com and it went smooth. I purchased 35k gold for a game and in less than ten minutes I had it in my account. I've completely turned my opinion around about them. They are no joke when it comes to helping their customers and they have proven that to me now.

@ Notthatguy,

Glad I could help. And yes, we're more than open to suggestions! If you have anything process, communications, design, support for new games or policy suggestions you can send them my way via: communications@playerauctions.com. For website features, player services, and product related suggestions you can send your feedback to us here: http://www.playerauctions.com/help/suggestion/

@ muddflap

I completely understand. Actually, prior to working/even knowing about PlayerAuctions, I was active as a buyer myself, visiting the various gold selling, account selling, and powerleveling websites myself. As much as I'd like to name specific websites I won't, because I don't want this to seem like mudslinging (as some of them are prone to do to us), needless to say... I know FULL WELL how it feels to loose out on one of those sites. I've rather even had heartbreaking experiences from shoddy powerleveling services which got my first WoW account banned with the basic response of "tough luck! sorry!".

Anyway, PlayerAuctions have been here awhile, since 1999. They primarily operated on a small scale for specific games and it wasn't until our relaunch that we've really seen sky rocket growth... so it will simply take time for people to develop a perception of us that we are trying to develop. We're not a huge team here at PlayerAuctions, but rest assured we aren't here to rob anyone. Rather its our goal to legitimize the secondary market in such a way that gets rid of all of the negative things that have come with it (poor service, dishonesty, in-game spam, selling mailing lists, botting and spawn camping, fraudulent payments, the list goes on). And it might seem like media speak, but its true that over 96% of orders created on PA are successfully completed without issue.

In anycase muddflap, you're forgiven of course, and I only hope we can better service you in the future.

@ Shane
I'm sure plenty of users will appreciate additional references to shop for their MMO needs, I'd like to make a case in point. Whether your offering a true opinion, or conducting stealth marketing ;-) it should be noted that comparing thegamesupply.net to PlayerAuctions is somewhat moot as we operate on different business models.

So that everyone can be clear. PlayerAuctions is a consumer to consumer (c2c) marketplace. You can best compare it to eBay of MMORPG's. It is a marketplace where sellers list their offers and determine their OWN price, while buyers are free to peruse items and compare seller feedback. Sellers determine their own profit margins, and because of this... buyers are generally able to buy products AT COST and save tons of money that would otherwise exist in large markups by resellers.

Thegamesupply.net is a business to consumer (b2c) marketplace. They buy accounts from people are significantly reduced prices and resell them at huge markup prices. While this has the advantage of dealing with a single entity, and sales may generally be quicker, they seldom offer support to buyers if game accounts are suspended or reclaimed by the original owners at a later date. Additionally, sellers loose out on the full profit potential their game accounts possess, while buyers generally end up spending far more money than the accounts are actually worth.

PlayerAuctions is starting to offer consignment services for accounts now which means that the prior benefit of going to a b2c company is now a benefit at PA (namely, near instant delivery of game accounts). This is part of our desire to constantly expand our services to both buyers and sellers.

The PR for Playerauctions asked me to contact him and he would help me out. Even after attempting several times I thought I would try one more time with this guy. The PR reacted very quickly and I am more than happy with the outcome. Obviously, they will go out of their way to help. I wished they had more guys like the PR dude on their staff to handle the problem in the first place.

After saying that, I would like to publicly apologize for my comments. I hope everyone can understand the frustration I was going through since February. Personally, I hope the PR will accept my apology.

They have made it sure I will do business with them again and I am intending to do just that in the near future.

Everyone should definitely do business with them without hesitation. Their business structure, which I find unique, is very safe especially handling accounts over the internet.

I can now say that my recent issue with PlayerAuctions (above the mother comments) has been resolved and explained. I started faithful and will remain so on the word of the employee I talked to. They seem open to suggestion and maybe we can all take a few minutes and offer our ideas to help PA move forward. They're really the best of the bunch, unless you want to pay a subscription or have a secret handshake. The quality Sellers aren't hard to pick out and the shady types aren't either. Any change is good change and it helps all of us.

I consider my case resolved and will keep you updated in the future.

@muddflap

In my response to you, I included an e-mail address for which you could reach me directly. To date, I have received no correspondence from you. Additionally, I can't even render help on this end as you haven't provided any order details or a PA account name. You've given no identifiable markers for which to verify anything you say, so it is impossible to render any type of assistance. I'm not trying to counter you, but if you want help, please either provide specific information, or contact me directly. My e-mail was presented to you in my initial reply, but I'll re-type it: communications@playerauctions.com

We do allow game account sellers by those who are not the original owner. These people are traditionally known as "re-sellers" and generally operate with a high volume or orders per month. They are rated accordingly by the member base, and as to their track record their feedback scores are transparent. If however we do find that a re-seller has an inordinate amount of complaints, then they are forbidden from any further trading. In the end however, it is up to the buyer whether they wish to purchase from original owners, or account re-sellers. If this process isn't transparent enough, then let me know, and I'll get on to working on it so that it is.

Despite your personal disparages toward me (and my mother), I'm still happy to help you in order to resolve your previous order, but in order to do that, I'll need you to either contact me directly, or provide order details so I can look up this case.

Pura Vida,
Jacob A.

@PlayersAuction_RP,

Now you guys are seriously starting to piss me off. I've contacted you ###ers like 5 times and it's me who always has to send an email to get an update on the status of my ticket which by the way will never get resolved because it's all a crock of ###. All you guys do is give people the run around. Quit trying to act like you guys actually have a 'Support' team. It's one dude and his gay brother running the operation.

In my case, you had since February 2010 to resolve my case. It was plain and simple: Original owner got his account back and there is nothing that can be done. The person who sold the account to me through your site should be held responsible because wasn't the original owner, but that would require you guys doing something about it.

On your reply to me I have two things to say: 1. It's 'lose' not 'loose'. Your mom is loose. If you're going to represent your company, I mean you and your gay brother, then do it with professionalism. 2. I already told you [censored]s like 5x that I called Sony myself and they told me that the original owner claimed his account back by providing the original credit card. Quit doing what you call 'research' into the 'survey' (another misused word on your behalf) and use some common sense.

Just to clarify my thought above; PlayerAuctions has never ripped me off. So I'll take the time and below is my laundry list of issues with PlayerAuctions. I'm taking the time because I like their concept as a whole and it really has a lot of potential for the Users (and not just them collecting money). I am an active user of the site and I have pending gripes.

1. Customer Service: PlayerAuctions, whether you agree or not, promotes itself as a USA Company. I don't care where the business receives their mail, there is nothing USA about PlayerAuctions. The LiveHelp agents don't seem to be primarily English speaking, most responses are copy/pasted, and when going off-script the language barrier really shows. They seem to be friendly and will help you to a degree with information on your order. They claim to be separate from the Financial side of things, so they aren't highly effective in handling anything. These operators will 'escalate' your issue to the proper Dept., but those emails are rarely returned (even more rarely when dealing with money issues).

2. Disbursement Time: PlayerAuctions has a so-called system in place that pays you out based on your Seller Status and pre-defined timeframe. I'd say that 70% of the time, it's accurate...even a few hours early sometimes. With that said; recently I have noticed multiple sellers commenting on pay outs being late by days. Their recourse? Zero. I never feel like PA won't pay us, it's just unfair on we're treated. Who makes the money for PA? The Sellers. Emails aren't returned, there is no working phone #, and the information you get along the way is none. So most of us just sit around at the mercy of whoever sits and does the Paypal payouts. My issue is that PA makes such a big deal of their parameters and measures, but they don't adhere to them themselves.

3. I won't even get into #3 yet, I'm curious of the response I'll get to the above first...if any.

I like PA but I think they're screwing themselves, and the rest of us, by not holding up their end of the bargain. PA has conquered the hard part in gaining an audience and really should shape up and let ALL of us profit from it while we still can. They see $$ either way, but the growth would be exponential if it was done well.

Thanks.

I have to agree with the customer 'service.' Even the sellers are being treated poorly as of late, so buyer/seller beware!

~~~~~~~~~~This is an Official PlayerAuctions Response~~~~~~~~~~
@ The OP.
I'm sorry you had a negative experience on our site. If you'd like to legitamize your complaint, please provide an order number, or your PA account name, so that we could appropriately and specifically reply to your complaint. While it does take time for these investigations to conclude, please be rest assured that we do go over them carefully and meticulously. Currently our order success rate stands at around 96.7%, so instances where a seller reclaims the account is only a rare occurrence, and even then... there are times when loss of the account is due to actions initiated by the buyer, such as powerleveling, or purchasing in game currency. This is why we conduct thorough investigations, as our guarantees only protect against actual game account reclamations, or loss of the game account faulted by the seller. Again, if you can provide the specifics of your order, then we can more accurately render you assistance if possible.
@ Muddflap
On the contrary, we read every survey that is posted back to us. And as I mentioned above, loosing access to an account is not necessarily due to the seller initiating a reclaim. Many people who engage in account trading, concurrently participate in purchasing power leveling services, and or in game currency, which can also lead to loss of account access.
You may contact me directly for further assistance: communications@playerauctions.com
Please reference your order number in the subject header.
I have to agree about Playerauctions.com. I'm going through the same problem. They took back my account a year later. They make you fill out all this information but it means nothing. They don't read them or they don't know how to read and comprehend.
Anyways, don't buy accounts from another person because the original owner can provide the original credit card and get it back.
