Norton [protected]-GB have charged my account for services i have not had on my computer for two years i would like my account credited for at least the latest fee which was on the 16/12/2011 thank you for your time .

I was charged 69.99 for a Norton Security renewal and I do not carry this virus protection. I bought it for one year (which was last year) and that was it. I didn't ask for it to renew it and charge me without me knowing. I am not in the best situation financially but 69.99 is a lot to me and for it to be wasted on something I did not intentionally purchase, I want to be refunded.

I have used Norton Antivirus so far for 3 years but my computer was broken last January and have not used more. Problem is, you took out the $89.00 from my checking account for renewal this year so wish that you have to return it back to my checking account, then apprecciated. If I need Norton I will order new one but not now.

No need for you to worry about the charge because Norton tech support would be very happy to assist you reversing the charge.
Here's what actually happened (or somehow happened.)
Maybe you used Symantec product before and you purchased it online. Symantec has this feature called Annual renewal wherein it automates the renewal process to save you and other customers from the hassle of manually renewing their subscription yearly and also to ensure the continuity of protection you receive from Norton. BUT, prior to being charged for their annual renewal, an email will be sent( i think that was 30 days before subscription ends) and that email contains a prebilling notification and it will give you an option to OPT-OUT of this renewal. But if you wish to continue, just ignore the email and the renewal proceeds after 15days. Now you will ask me, "I didn't receive any emails". Maybe the email went on your Junk/Spam Filter OR the email associated with you Norton account is already invalid (this commonly happens if you lose subscription with ISP's like verizon, comcast, at&t, etc)
Just contact Norton Support at [protected] and have your billing statement and email or order number(if present)

you can actually have norton back to your machine because tech will try to keep you as a customer. they will give norton(i think) for half the price plus some tech might give you additional 6-months so you're ike getting 1yr and 6 months for 34.99
renewal cheated me of 46 days
Paid for the new Norton 360 Premier subscription renewal on three computers. The first computer the subscription had expired and I had 365 days left after renewal. Five days later I updated the second computer. It had 41 days but I updated it anyway. It comes back with only 361 days left. The stole 41 days of unused subscrition from my previous balance and took 5 days of unsed subscription from the new one. This is robbery! If I prepay any other subscribtion it is tacked on to the end of the existing subscription!

since buying this product every two to three days it quits working and I have to install the eraser run it, find nothing wrong so via the support site or the support technicians I have to uninstall and reinstall this product, it's garbage, like one huge virus, on top of that the tech are no help, with one agent even locking up my computer and then telling me she thinks I need to try to restart it, then after waiting forever to try and restart it it finally restarts and I attempt to reconnect with the support agent via the pin code she left me and she reconnects with me and promptly disconnects, the agents are rude, they never call back when they say they will and there product is garbage. I want to cancel my service and would like my money refunded...
After many yrs of using Norton AV I got fed up with their lack of customer service & Norton now partners with Microsoft & that is sad for the end user.. I went to Kaspersky a far superior AV uses less pc resources & much better software ..

unauthorized auto renewal charge
Symantec charged $63.59 to my parent's credit card for auto renewal of Norton's but my parents have never used or purchased Symantec Norton's Utilities and they certainly did not authorize auto renewal of a product they do not use nor own.

charged for renewal without authorization
After over a year of not using Norton antivirus, I noticed a fee that had been charged for renewal on my July bank statement. When I called to have the charge removed, the customer service representative explained that the automatic renewal notice had been sent to my email address (NOT MY EMAIL ADDRESS FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS!) and that since I had not "opted out" of the auto-renewal program (which I had never opted in to), then I had been charged. After offering to credit me, she then tried to sell me another product!

I sold My personal computer a few years back, Norton Kept on billing my credit card every year even though I never agree to automatic renewal. They said they were doing me a favor by renewing me automatically without my consent. I spent Several hours trying to reach them by phone and they refunded half what they owed me. I'm shocked a reputable company such as norton would do such shady business practices. No Sir that's not how it works, Please no name calling. I contacted the company and did get a refund for the first charge, they told me an email is sent to confirm the authorization. They used an old deleted email account.
Sounds like this forum is full of people working for Symantec! They know I didn't use their product and since when does the obligation for customers to renew depend on them unchecking a box. Wow have consumer laws changed that dramatically.
The first charge slipped through unnoticed, the second I caught. I did contact Symantec and they acknowledged I was charged both times, and that they never notified me. They also seem to know I never activated their services. I admit I wasn't diligent in catching the overcharging the first time through. Now that I have noticed the over billing, it doesn't excuse them from rectifying the situation. If there's any honest employees from Symantec who realize it's wrong to steal from people(even if they don't initially notice) please help me recoup the overcharged amount. Microsoft Security Essentials is free and has been for almost 2 years. STOP paying for AV software unless you like giving away money. BTW I repair computers. MS SE works great.

I received a notice saying that my Norton Antivirus program was ending, so I did renew it. I was charged $74.96, which was on April 26th. Shortly thereafter I went into the hospital for heart surgery and was away for awhile. When I got my Master Card bill I see that I was charged again on May 16th. I purchased a new laptop at beginning of year with Norton pre installed for 60 day trial. During the trial I paid for 3 years protection, the money was taken from my account.
When the 60 day trial ended so did the total protection.
I have spoken, written and emailed Norton and they have no record of any transaction. I have the bank statement showing they took the money.
All I have asked for is either my money back or the product.

I am surprised that this type of fraud is common with Norton, i bought a computer with 100days free Norton antivirus which expired about 3days ago, i was asked to renew the subscription which i tried to do but my visa card was rejected after several trials. But today i was told that my card was charged $59.99 for product i did not succeed in perfecting. No receipt, no product key to download but was charged for nothing. This is a serious thing which is called daylight robbery. Pls help me to contact Norton to refund my money or to check this order and email me the product key to download. Sorry Charlie, there is a little known secret when you accept their terms and condition of their agreement with you. You know the one, the one you didn't pay any attention. Practically ALL virus removal software companies will hide in that agreemnt, that you click that you agree to, that puts you on auto-renewal.

salesperson lied and no customer service
Salesman either lied about Norton "Ghost" or does not know the details of the product. It will not do the one function I wanted it to do for me.
When I wrote to Fry's customer service I did not even get a response. So much for the customer service also. I will NEVER buy another Norton (Symantec) product. Especially from Fry's.
norton blew up my flat-panel monitor
In October 2010, I purchased Norton Internet Security 2011 and installed and registered it. A few days later, it threw a message that it was expired and needed to be updated. I rebooted my computer and it worked -- life was good. Then a few more days and it once again said it was expired. On October 25, 2010, I went to Norton.com/support and found this scenario in the FAQs, indicating that it was a known problem.
At this point, I entered a chat with a support specialist (name and case number available upon request). I spent more than five hours in a chat with him, during which time he repeatedly crashed my computer. The last time, the monitor did not come up, apparently having damaged by the repeated power surges from the crashes. I hooked up a generic monitor and saw the tech's final message that "since you are not replying, I assume your problem is solved". Sorry -- no. I then called [protected] and got a tech who fixed it in about 10 minutes. I told him that they had blown up my monitor, but he neither admitted nor denied it. A few days later, I received an email from Symantec asking me to critique their "customer service". I wrote exactly what had happened, and got not so much as an apology. I wonder how many more computers or monitors this have been damaged by this defective program.
By the way, I saw an ad in yesterday's paper for "NEW Norton Internet Security 2011". Does this mean they fixed it?
they are the worst of the worst
Today I received a call from an ***** asking me when I am going to make payment again. I mentioned the fact that I had questions regarding the statement to which I was told that I will receive a summons in two weeks and the call was ended. I short while later I received another call by another one of them, I requested the name of the person that had contacted me earlier, the response was that 'he' the person on the line was the first person to phone me today. I again asked who the rude person was that had phone me earlier to which the response was 'Tammy a colluege of mine'. I questioned the caller about the interest that I was being charged and I received an answer of 23%. I told the caller that the original amount was R 8300.00 opening and that I had already paid R 9500.00 to date I was told that there is only another R 3700.00 left and that I should pay this. I told him that I was going to seek legal advise.
I ended the call, He phoned back again and I advised him that I had no more to say to him at this time. I received some sms messages stating the sherrif will be visiting me shortly.
norton annual renewal
1 year ago I responded to a notification that my Norton anti-virus protection was out of date by renewing it online. I was unhappy that I did it in the first place because the original package gave protection for 3 computers, whereas the package I recieved when I renewed it only did one computer. This is a request not to renew my Norton Antivirus service. I have tried to phone your company to handle this but am always routed to a web site. I'm not complaining, but do need to cancel my service at both of my locations. I have moved and the computers are in storage for the forseeable future. Please contact me via email or a call to my cell phone so that I can conclude this transaction.
Above all DO NOT renew my service at this time. I will call when I want to reconnect to the internet.

On 9/25-26 I placed an order for Norton security software. On the 25th I canceld and order for a update of software before it could download. THEY CHARGED ME FOR IT ANYWAY!
On the 26th I placed an order for the full replacement of Norton software for my computer. It appeared to download, but I can not find it on my computer and there is no apparent change in Norton's operation on my computer.
I have tried 3 times to comunicate with Norton to no avail.
1. I had a message popping up from AntiVirusNT2008 which a Yahoo article describes as very bothersome but non-malicious.
2. I ran Norton 2005 which had all virus defs current. I have a subscription and I ran an update just before doing the scan.
3. I decided to upgrade to 360 v2 - - paid $59.xx - also paid $8 for 1 year maint or something - - downloaded the program and attempted to run. - - Instructions said to first un-install old Norton programs through Windows Control Panel program. I did this. It appeared to be a clean un-install of Norton 2005.
4. Started install of downloaded 360 V2 - - the installation failed.
5. Downloaded Norton Un-install tool - - and ran
6. Attempted 360v2 installation again - - it failed again.
7. Got on Norton Support Chat - - about 7:45 pm - asking for help installing new softare. Got transferred to several people - - a couple tried installation.
8. Someone said the problem was virus infection - - I paid $99 for "consultant" to remove virus -
9. Transferred back to another technician to do installation. He worked on it quite a while without success. He finally stopped trying and stopped responding.
Now it is 2:55 am the next morning and my software is still not installed. I doubt that I needed the virus removed - - if the software was installed that would have taken care of it.
My priority # was [protected] - - I am too tired to look up the receipt number for the $59 software or the $99 'consultant fee' - -
Since I was instructed to remove Norton 2005 I now have no virus protection!
I have 2 charges on my recent Master Card bill, one for $51.99 and one for $68.23. I renewed my Norton Security on May 28 and wonder why there are 2 charges on my bill. The invoice I printed out when I renewed it stated that my charges were $49.99 Cdn. I believe there should only be one charge to that amount.

Norton contacted me via e-mail and asked for my new card information so that they could renew my subscription to their Internet Protection service. I did not want to renew my subscription, so I did not give them my new card number. A few days later I received another e-mail from them thanking me for renewing my subscription with my NEW number that I NEVER provided them with. This type of activity is what Norton claims to protect against, yet they are the ones performing the theft.
I was charged twice for the same service. That is installing Norton Antivirus on my dad's computer ! I was charged once on June 6, 2010 and again on June 17, 2010. The first charge was $34.99 for a years service which included a 30 day free trial. The 30 day free trial came to an end and it didn't appear dad was protected any farther. I checked my Visa accn't for May and found that there was no charge to my accn't. So I thought that maybe I had made a mistake when I signed him up. Obviously, I am not a computer whiz. So I wanted him to have protection so I signed up again. This time it was $39.95 and the computer seemed to accept the Norton antivirus and loaded it and put an icon on his desktop. So all was well. Now I see on my latest Visa statement that in fact I was also charged for the original try to load the Norton Antivirus which as far as I am able to determine never loaded on his computer. And for sure he does not need two Norton Antivirus programs. I do not believe two programs can even run at the same time. I don't know what to do next? I hope to be hearing from a representative soon. Thank you !
