I went into the bank to deposit some money and some change in rolls to maintain my account. The teller (who was Middle Eastern) looked at my deposit slip, money and rolled coins and said "this doesn't look like $10 in quarters". She then seemed to be annoyed and although 2 rolls were just a few coins less and proceeded to "announce" that I was short whether it was 25 cents or $1.25. I politely gave her the difference while she counted. One of the rolls was taller than the others to which she said "this is more than $10 in quarters", to which I replied "yes, it might be a little more". The teller proceeded and commented that "the rolls have to be exactly ten dollars". I then said "I don't see what the problem is". The teller continued to count the coins and proceeded with the transaction. At the end she said "thank you for your patience".
I have been a customer with M&T Bank for more than 20 years and I have NEVER felt so embarrassed. I feel as though I was treated rudely and was made an example of because the teller didn't want to count the coins.
I am a displaced, laid off worker and as bad as things are, she made my experience an embarrassing one.
