I went to M&T bank on West st in Rutland, Vt to pay my light bill. I waited almost 20 mins in line I got to the window and said hi to teller and put light bill in slot the teller named Samantha said oh a light bill your going to have to wait a minute, I said ok. While she's doing the paperwork she's sighing starring at me glaring rolling her eyes, throwing papers around. When she was done she put bill in slot and says to me maybe next time you should come in and pay I told her this didn't take as long as I waited in line. I'm disabled and handicapped she embarrassed me humiliated me this is unexsepable
Desired outcome: Samantha to be terminated, and something for what I had to go through humiliation embarrassment now I have to find other ways to pay my light bill she hurt me by what she did I won't go back, contact info [protected]
Release of Liability for a mortgage
I have been trying to get a release of liability from M&T since May 30th. I have went through four different people that all have said they would return my phone calls or emails and none did I have had to call the main number 6 times to try and talk to someone about getting the release of liability. it is now august the 28th and I still do not have this completed do to the complete lack of competence and work ethic form the employees at M&T bank, it has been a very stressful nightmare dealing with the department that handles these matters. I was given until September the 1st to have this completed but yet no one is making anything happen on your end.
Desired outcome: All I want is my Release of liability to be completed so that I can remove my EX Wife from the mortgage. is a timely manner.
Declined transactions when I have the money
I am trying to bid on a live auction site and repeatedly have had my card declined. I am trying to buy shoes and vintage clothing to resell. This is my livelihood and it keeps happening. I should not have to continue to call and tell the bank that its me. Its embarrassing on the site when my payment gets declined. I called today and they said I exceeded the limit 7/15, but its been happening all week. This needs to be resolved ASAP and within the next 30 minutes. This is my job and how I make money. If this is not resolved I will have to change my bank and advise others to do the same.

Desired outcome: No limit for number of transactions because they are usually small, and something set up so i dont have to continue to call and verify that its me
My car loan
I called today to get a payoff amount for my car loan. I explained that I did not bring my last statement to work to get my account number. (I gave the person my name, address, Social Security Number, the date of the last payment that I made and the amount paid.
She said she was able to pull up my account but because I didn't have my account number she needed the car's VIN number or she couldn't give me the payoff amount.
Really? This was my first and most likely my last loan or any business with M&T. Plus, I'll make sure that I let the various social media platforms that I participate in the problem that I'm having.

Desired outcome: Just call me and give me the payoff amount of the car loan. Then mail me my title that you are holding.
Bank Transfer
The bank to bank transfer policy of a "rolling 30 days" makes it very difficult to transfer money in a timely way. If you make several transfers in a month you have to keep track manually of when you are below the arbitrary limit of 5000.00 to once again be able to transfer money.
I have to wait an extra two weeks to transfer money out to a saving account that pays a much better savings rate because of this policy. It is costing me money.
It should be a Calander month or higher limits.
Desired outcome: change the policy to a monthly time frame
Insurance dept
I have a loan thru M&T, and it's been a nightmare. I see there are so many complaints its scarry. had hail Damage to my trailer and john in insurance dept has no knowledge and it all about legal and my insurance could not understand what M&T was doing. Banking is supposed to be a service company and M&T is not. They would not endorse. insurance check and they refused it's my insurance and it's my loss. There is no human factor with them. worst experience ever.

This has been the worst decision of my life. I went to M&T. Out off frustration of bogus charges. And My Card number kept being compromised. But actually banking with the other bank is way easier. bill pay set up in seconds. Bill is paid in two days. If a paper check is needed I can accept or decline.
Try do set it up with you guys everything is a paper check. I had no access to my money or account for Two weeks and you want me to be late on all my bills because you online banking is not online. It’s till through the postal service. This is the stupidest system ever. Explain.

Credit card sign on bonus
Signed up for M&T credit card and was suppose to receive 200 for 500 sign on bonus. I am two days past the 90 days i was suppose to spend 500. I was unable to signup for an onine account so it was difficult for me to check on spend. I almost met 500 but when I tried t use it at the gas station it didnt work. I called M&T payed my bill and they said it was active. I tried it at the gas station again and it was declined. I called M&T for a excetion due to my difficulty so I can send the 40 dollars I as missing to meet 500. They sent me from cs to lending to credit card and int he same loop two more times.
Desired outcome: Just asking for additional day so I can make a 40 dollar purchase. Or M&T can still honor the 200 statement credit considering my technical difficulties.
Car loan
Am active duty military, I have been dealing with this unprofessional company far to long about my account. This started back in 2020 with the back and forth over my account being in the rear. I have ask for extension a couple of times and some of them was granted. Now we are in 2023 and am facing late payments again, so I called them to see why am owning so much, they said it’s because of 2022 and late payments fees. I asked for an supervisor which never came to the phone or responded and I call again then I spoke with a customer representative this guy was so professional. He explained that I really don’t own the amount that M&T saying that I own. This is fraud from this company. I will be filling a complaint and reporting them to Federal Trade Commission financial exploitation, because am military M&T trying to take advantage of me.
Desired outcome: To pay only what I own and nothing more
Mortgage Services & Website
M&T's mortgage website is terrible! Sometimes it's not even accessible and had to pay my mortgage using the phone app instead. However, multiple times in each case, the pop-up page would just crash or not provide the accurate information.
On top of that, their online processing takes forever! Online payment processing these days can take minutes or even seconds but it literally takes M&T 3 to 4 days to process something online.
Additionally, they don't allow you to make a payment with anything other than your checking account. Heard of debit cards M&T? Please step into the 21st Century any day now!
Desired outcome: Make the mortgage website more accurate, accessible and provide end-users faster options for payment. Get your internal processes updated to allow for efficient, prompt payment--not take up to a week!
Mortgage loan payments
M & T Bank took over my mortgage loan in Oct of 2022. In January of 2023, they contacted me stating that I haven't made a payment since Oct of 2022. When I have made all of my payments on time. In January, before calling M & T and just going by my invoices, I mailed them 3 payments, because they set me notices saying I was behind in my payments. I then logged into my bank, where the payments originate, and in fact every payments was made, and was made ontime. M & T, cashed my checks but did not log my payments. I made copies of all the proof of payment invoices from the bank that pays the morgate and faxed it to M&T. They fixed the issue applied all the payments, and credited back my late fee. Now we are in May of 2023 and it's happening again. M& T is saying I haven't paid my mortgage since March. When in fact, I am ahead by one month. I again sent them proof of payment invoices from my bank. They are not sending out people to take photos of my home to verity I am living in it and to verify the condition of it. WTF? I will be contacting an attorney in the morning.
Desired outcome: To have the payments that I make be accurately applied to my mortgage loan. At this point, I am going to refinance my home, and get the loan out of the hand of M&T. Do not trust them at all.
I have been dealing with this for 4 years and because I have open insurance claims I can not get a new mortgage. This is the worst mortgage company if you are an on-time diligent payment and and conscience credit consumer. If you pay early payments they apply them erroneously towards principle and applied late fees. Then they talked me into their flex draft to avoid this vs my previous lenders auto draft that came out of my retirement account. I do not log-in to my retirement account often. I set up the flex draft agreement )so you would think that since the lender keeps saying over the phone that I should use their flex draft InSTEAD that he would cancel that payment. months of double payments and M&T will not refund the money and states I still owe for every month - they will not apply the $17k towards future payments! it is fraudulent
Fraud detection
I travel several times a year. You people continue to block my own transactions related to travel (hotel reservations, etc). You don't even contact me before you block my real transaction, causing me aggravation and extra phone calls. This has happened more than once.
Most recently, it occurred today/this past weekend when I tried to reserve a room at the Huff House Inn and Cabins in Jackson, Wyoming for a planned trip to Wyoming in August-September 2023. It is unacceptable that I must get my own transactions pre-approved, with my own money before I can make travel plans.
Lighten up on the security and approve my travel-relates transactions or I will have to find a different bank with whom to do my business. Your continued blocking of my own travel-related transactions without asking me first is getting to be a significant burden and is unacceptable, especially since I travel several times a year.
I am very angry. Please contact me ASAP to let me know this transaction has been approved. And none of this "unblock my account for an hour" [censored] - just approve the transaction. I do not like the way you people do business with MY money.
Desired outcome: Contact me personally before blocking travel-related transactions.
Mortgage service
My mortgage was sold to M&T. The process of enrolling to pay my mortgage online is unbearable! After giving too much personal information to a CSR, I'm required to remit my FULL SSN online too! Once done my login attempt is met with a redirection to the Fraud Dept. Here I'm required to give information previously remitted along with demands about my device and who I buy internet from! The only thing redeeming about this miserable experience is that the CSRs are polite even if uninformed.
Desired outcome: Please correct your practices, specifically removing the full and 'first five' SSN requirements.
overall service and where is my money?
I lodged a check for 6000 pounds in location 4 Mower Street Worcester on the 14th February. I contacted my English Bank to determine when it had been processed their end and I was informed it was April 3rd. Therefore, the monies should be in my bank account at M & T. No one has been able to assist me and keep fobbing me off. The manager of the above branch has been unavailable to assist me and implied the issue was with the overseas bank. No one seems to be able to help me and at this point I am frustrated and concerned that my monies are lost somewhere in the abyss. SOMEONE in this organization surely must be able to find out where my monies. My phone # is [protected], please contact me with a resolution.
Desired outcome: I want my money. I have incurred unnecessary costs due to this. I believe i should be paid interest on the monies that have been in your possession for the past 10 days to date
