McAfee Complaint

A person claimed he was calling on behalf of MacAfee. I had answered an email about renewing our subscription to MacAfee. I fell for this person's ruse. I said I did not want to renew and from there I got caught up in a long conversation. Somehow this person got our checking account # and was taking money out of our Heloc loan and transferring it to our checking. From there he tried to take out $50,000 the first time and $100,000 the second time. I contacted our credit union where we do our banking and their risk management department got involved and trying to make sure this person does not do this again and trying to find out who he is.

I thought you would like to know that he claimed he was calling from the BBB.

This was a scary experience for me. I believe he did not have anything to do with the BBB.

Desired outcome: To make sure this person does not do this scam to anyone else.

McAfee Anti-virus payment in error

Hello, I bought a McAfee subscription over a year ago, on a laptop that no longer works. McAfee have debited my card for an Auto-renewal subscription. When trying to contact them, I cannot. Its impossible. Their webchat doesn't work, their phone number online is only a USA number & I live in Ireland. €80.00 is a weeks worth of food in my house, unbelievable!

McAfee Billed for subscription we did not order.

We cancelled our subscription with McAfee a loooooong time ago. Now we have Macs and don't need it. For years we've received dire warnings about our subscription about to expire, sometimes weekly, sometimes daily. Emails requesting them to cancel us, requests to unsubscribe from emails, ignoring the emails - nothing worked. The most recent email last week said, If you did not renew your membership, your account will be closed within 48 hours. So what did they do? They charged us 399.99 for another subscription/membership. When I got the email saying we owed 399.99, there was a phone number to call to cancel, which I did immediately. I could not understand the person on the phone, asked for his supervisor. His speaking was worse. Asked to speak to an American so I could understand 'em. He said he would try to cancel from his end and hung up.

Desired outcome: This company needs to be heavily fined or shut down. A request to cancel should be honored without further harassment.

This is a very stright forward case by mcafee charging my credit card and using my information to renew a service I had in the past and does not require at this point in time I have not requested a subscription renewal for [protected]

McAfee I keep getting billed for $389.00 for computer security services

I have received e-mails from McAfee starting May 19 2022 I called the service number and was told I would have to do several things to cancel security services I never ordered. I answered e-mails. The e-mails I've replied to--to several different addresses, are responded to with: "Sorry it didn't work out." or, "On vacation."

I hope McAfee will quit trying this.

Desired outcome: Please cancel what I never ordered. Please uninstall any security systems you have on my computer. If you did get any money from me--somehow--please refund and, I definitely would like an apology.

McAfee I purchased McAfee antivirus 1 year subscription card

I purchased a McAfee AntiVirus 1 year subscription card, which has a 25-digit product key. By taking/calling McAfee free support help I was going to have this McAfee security product downloaded on my 2nd laptop at my home.

So, I called the McAfee free support help ph. #[protected], and asked support person to help me remotely to download this AntiVirus on my laptop. Then support person said to me to type "support. me". I did that. Then support person asked me to give the 25-digit product code. In order to do that, I scratched off this product key on this card. And surprisingly noticed that a total of 3 characters were half erased or semi-legible. So, I couldn't provide correctly this 25-digit code to the support person. I guessed those 3 digits and provided the full code. The support person said that it is incorrect code. I asked the support person to help me give those 3 digits. The support person couldn't help. These are the 4th digit & 7th digit from the beginning and 4th digit from the last. Please see listed below the incomplete 25 digit code. If McAfee helps me provide these 3 erased/semi-legible codes then I can use this card, otherwise, I would be loosing my money of purchasing this card. The info. about me is as follows:

Name: Rasik Desai, I live outside of Philadelphia area. Cell Ph. [protected], email: [protected]@yahoo.com. If someone from McAfee support can contact me by ph. or email and provide me these 3 digits, that would be a great help. The incomplete 25 digit key is as follows:

"G2F 6-6 UES-GDQY6-K3E96-A 2MM". As I have said above, the 4th & 7th digits are missing from the beginning, and 4th digit from the last.

Desired outcome: I would be waiting or looking forward to hear soon from McAfee support about these 3 missing digits on the 25-digit key code, or send me the replacement AntiVirus 1 year subscription card. My home address is listed below.

McAfee Emails

I get emails from McAfee services. I never remember signing up, but in any case, have requested they unsubscribe me about 10 times over the past couple months! After hitting the unsubscribe button, I get the message saying "successfully unsubscribed" then I continue to get their emails. The fact that they continue to harass me, with threatening "your device has been infected!" messages is extremely frustrating, and makes me suspect them of deceptive/phishing practices. I will report to my attorney general if necessary.

Desired outcome: Drop my email from contact list, as required by law!

McAfee PC protection services

I have been receiving on the average of twelve renewal offer emails per day from this company for at least a year. I've tried emailing them to cease but the emails were never replied to. I called the number I was given and it's always in India and they do nothing. I sent a letter to an address given, only to have the letter returned for "not deliverable as addressed". They have made it impossible to stop these harassing emails. One problem is the emails come from a different source every time so one "unsubscribe" takes care of that one but leaves countless others continuing to be sent. The only way to stop this, in my opinion, is to get the main office of McAfee to stop the emails. I truly hope you can help me with this problem.

Desired outcome: Please demand McAfee stop harassing me with their emails.

McAfee Virus software

I did NOT renew my service and it was NOT downloaded to my computer. I have been getting bills from Rockland Federal Trust since February for the software.

I do NOT even have Rockland Federal Trust anymore and haven't for a few years. They tell me McAfee has to reverse the charges. I have called and spoken to them twice and they tell me they will take care of it. Today I got 2 bills from Rockland saying I am responsible.

When I last spoke to McAfee he promised me it would be resolved in 3 -7 days and it has NOT. He gave me a reference number of 1-[protected]. I have tried to call 5 times today to [protected] and it says it is out of my area.

April 24, I got a phone call from David Johnson, located in Seattle, claiming to work for MacAfee regarding online access 2022. He wanted me to download TeamViewer so he could help me remove my access to MacAfee online access 2022. He also told me that I have a refund of $389 coming to me. He asked if I had other account than with Chase bank and told him no. Today April 29, 2022, I called David two times on April 26 to get this worked out, but no luck. As of today April 29, 2022, I have not received my refund. Please investigate this man.

Mcafee just took money from my account and I do not remember subscribing to auto renewal.I am a struggling student in South Africa.They just took my whole allowance.I purchased the antivirus last year.I did not get any notification that I subscribed nor did I authorize the transaction.

On 24 April.McAfee took money from my account.It seems like I signed up for an auto renewal unknowingly.They took all my money from my account.I tried calling them but they do not reply.What should I do.I want a refund because this is all unexpected.

McAfee Total protection

I placed on order for McAfee Total Protection for $29.99. I was trying to pay for a Verizon 12 phone for 97.03 for fees, etc. I tried 10 times and it would not go through. I called my bank and they said they didn't see any attempts. So it was Verizon, Verizon checked and stated it was not them.

So after calming down, I realized I just installed McAfee. I called McAfee and told them something is wrong, give me the money back, this was in about 1 day. I was told, I think by mistake, there were serious issues with the software, so the tech, deleted it off of my account. When she made the statement about the flaws, I asked why would you sell a product when you knew there were problems, of course no answer.

When I first looked all my user names and passwords were gone. My Dell laptop got destroyed. I think I might have about 1/3 use.

No Excel, Word, PPT, Acrobat Pro, etc. This has been going on since around April 3 or 11th. on the 22nd my One Drive disappeared.

They did refund my money. I keep getting IM on FB asking what they can do to help, I said nothing. Then when I wanted to capture the whole text message a lot of data was missing, maybe they deleted it or just rand out of space.

I im'ed this morning asking to provide me the whole chat session and asked to speak to a supervisor, no one has contacted me. I verified my name, email and home address, then the tech said you "have to give me a credit card # before I can transfer you". I said no but he kept asking. I told him you do not need my credit card # for me to be transferred.

I hung up, spoke to a guy named Neil, told him that guy asked for my credit card #, 4 times, he said we don't ask for that. So I requested a supervisor to call me back, I was told sometime today, so another day I can't go run my errands.

Desired outcome: I want the whole chat dialogue sent to me, I am not worried about money, unless if they want to pay me $15 an hour for all the hours I have been on the phone with them. Other people are also getting scammed, look at the McAfee FB posts.

McAfee Money pattempted to be removed on a cash app card

Hello, I have an active account for McAfee Total Protection. Yesterday McAfee attempted to remove 84$ and some change from my cash app. Luckily there was no money in this account. I have had trouble with McAfee Total protection and someone breaching my account. My account is up for renewal 12/2022

McAfee Billing statement - mcafee premium services

I received an email from Donnellf Minhf on April 1 2020. The email shows an order ID number and states that "We have successfully processed your payment of $599" for "McAfee premium service plan".

I can't begin to tell you how concerning this is coming from a company that is supposed to protect my computer and you've been hacked!

The phone number on the billing statement is [protected] and states is was sent via McAfee 2022 USA BILLING TEAM (see attached).

McAfee computer locked up unless i renewed

Got notice my computer was infected and the I had to download the newest version of Mcafee. I could't do anything, it was locked. I downloaded and it seemed to be fixed. HOWEVER my subscription did't expire until next month. So Why didn't my current subscription fix the issue? I am not happy about the way this was done! Was I scammed, I have received lots of e-mails from Mcaffe confirming the new subscription so it seems legit. YOU TELL ME!

I purchased a new laptop 4 months ago, i guess it came with McAfee, which I do not use, past experience leaves no doubt this company is not capable or interested in security. Anyway I now get pop up messages, at least 4 everytime I start my computer. They are from McAfee and the messages are very threatening. I have to shut down sometimes to get rid of them. All the messages want me to renew as my services has expired. DO NOT EVER PURCHASE FROM McAFEE.

Hi John,

Wanted to share my experience since I live in Tucson as well.

I have been on the phone five times this month over the VPN service and tonight called just after 10pm & ended up with Vanessa Rojano who took control over my computer to troubleshoot the same problem. I had to repeatedly said "Hello, are you still there?", she came back to phone giggling and told me my technical issues were due to not be enrolled in Automatically Renewal Subscription, since my service expires Jun 2022. After stating to her that you needed to take control over my computer & then make the suggestion that I need to pay to get my computer back and the VPN service? Sounds like I'm being issued a Ransom Threat and she hung up on me. Called back got Norm from the Philippines who after asking for a manager says I should get a call back in 24-48 hours. I would never recommend McAfee to anyone.

My name is Phil. They kept telling me I have a virus renew now! They kept emailing me virus found! I finally called online and I talked to somebody and told them to do not renew it and I don’t want it anymore and they just charged my account $139 this morning. Highway robbery they’re forcing you to use their service and if you do anything about it they send something to her computer to disable it like they did mine I had to buy a new one

McAfee Anti-virus

McAfee anti-virus completly blocked all of my downloads, even though I wasn't subscribed. I tried uninstalling the McAfee Web Advisior multiple times but it would'nt uninstall. I had to end up deleting all of the program files for it to allow downloads again. In additon, it kept popping up saying that I did not have an active subscription, even though I turned it off repeatedly, thinking I might re-activate at one point. I completely un-installed it after that. In additon, while I was using it, it would keep changing my default search engine without my permission. I will not buy McAfee again, and do not recommend it to anyone.
