Mavis Discount Tire review: Job

During my employment, I worked with a team I believed to be professional and thorough. My termination resulted from two comments I made to a 20‑year‑old coworker, both of which I intended as casual, non‑sexual compliments. When she mentioned that she had recently lost weight, I responded, “it shows.” On another occasion, I commented that her speaking Spanish sounded “sexy.”

At the time, I did not understand these remarks to be inappropriate or in violation of policy. Once I was informed that the coworker felt uncomfortable, I apologized immediately and clarified that my intent was not sexual or disrespectful.

I was later notified that these comments were classified as sexual harassment. Prior to this, I had not received any coaching, corrective feedback, or indication that my job was at risk. The termination decision was made the same day I spoke with HR.

My goal in providing this statement is to accurately document the events as I understood them and to clarify that I did not intend to create discomfort or violate workplace standards.
