I purchased suspension parts (upper control arms) replacements for my car and brought it in to have the two parts replaced Brand new in box Duralast gold OEM parts from my employer where i am a Retail Parts Manager. Thus i only needed a mechanic to do the job and alignment afterwards. I simply could not and would not ,attempt this task because the skill level and hydraulic equipment needed make it a very precise and difficult task even for a mechanic that is versed in suspension systems.
Although the employees were VERY nice and NEVER rude or anything less than proffesional, the tech that performed the work was inexperienced and made mistakes that would have clued me in sooner ,had i not left to go eat lunch when i dropped off the car. I only came to discover the first uneasy thing when they called me back to tell me that they could not remove the bolts that held the arms on the bushings and stated they were “frozen” and i saw the wrong end of the bolts had been stripped from the efforts of the guy working on it and i had to tell him that he was not going to get the bolts off unless he opened the hood for the buisness end of the bolts! HUGE TIP I SHOULD HAVE SEEN and if i stopped it there i would have known he had in fact NEVER done the kind of job that i was there to have done. I realized too late and i was never told that the master mechanic was not in town so i was not yet consciously aware of the reality . I was not even thinking that it could be his first time and could have been more able to know how to proceed and stopped it there if that was made known up front.
Suspensions are processionally designed ,mechanical engineered systems with safety features on vehicles that simply cannot be performed without a licensed professional that has been trained and certified by a state board in multiple suspensions and can guarantee the safety of the customer after the job is done. For both liability and human concern for the safety of the other general public drivers whom are at risk if mechanical failure occurs on my car from improper procedures.
Due to the nature of suspensions and the catastrophic failure they can cause to other drivers if the vehicle fails.and i collide with another vehicle.
The result was very bad immediately after i left and it may have or even surely affected other parts of the suspension matrix in ways i don't fully understand yet. No matter what i had to take it back because of my obligation to give them a chance to solve my problem according to the law and the fact that its a very important issue and they should be allowed this opportunity to be professional overall and i feel like they should want to put a stamp of approval on the work they do for other customers to feel good and not be afraid to bring thier cars in for services.
So the noises signifying a very dangerous misalignment and geometrically altered preload immediately alarmed me. The struts were removed unnecessarily it seems and were not reset to their original position ( obvious rings in the metal mounting panel showed a large margin of drifting and not being properly re-positioned) The alignment was not correct at all and even after the second attempt it still isn't. On the second visit i witnesssd him put vise grips on the tie rod end that he somehow had decided was loose ,between the rubber boot and end link to try to immobilize the inner sleeve to tighten the castle nut and i had to stop him. Finaly they were trying to give me the car and the alignment was not redone. So they re did it but only after my insistance to get it done. however its not in alignment and it has further issues. I cant go back because i dont have any faith to let them attempt to rectify it at this point. That ship has sailed and i am not ready to let it be an experiment now.
Im now seeking a refund and awaiting further contact from the regional manager to discuss the situation and hopefully the repair work can be performed by another shop altogether . Im depending upon the company granting me the relief i seek in a refund of the 350$ i paid in full so i may have another shop do it. If i can get the money to have it inspected by another place i would appreciate that too.
(i want to be absolutely clear that i received very good customer service! I never felt that they were being unprofessional to me or my car. The guy was just not ready and i feel that they should have been more forthcoming about not having the knowledge and expertise of the technician able to perform this work, on hand and present. I found out after the second trip that he was out of the country!)
I am hoping my refund is swift and i can get it fixed soon at another shop.

Claimed loss: $600+ ?( to be determined)

Desired outcome: Return of the 350$ since i paid for parts and any damage done to the vehicle if anything happened im not aware of yet. But the 350 would be minimum for me to get closer to whole
