To whom it may concern,
On Monday, February 27, 2023, I made an appointment for to have my car inspected at the Mavis at 2170 Route 44/55, in Gardiner, NY. During the inspection, I was told that, in order to pass inspection, I would need to replace at least two tires and the rear disc brake pads. I was quoted a price of $570 for 4 tires and $270 for the brake pads. I was told this was an “all in” price. I scheduled the work to be done on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. I had all 4 tires replaced and the brake pads. The charges came to $1,194.32. That’s $354.32 MORE than I was quoted.
On Tuesday, March 7, I started my car and immediately received warnings regarding traction control, tire pressure and ABS. I took the car to COMPASS Volkswagon at 200 Dolson Ave, in Middletown, NY, as I considered a sensor problem would be covered by my warranty. The diagnosis from VW determined that the left rear wheel speed sensor had been damaged by an outside source, during the installation of the tires at Mavis, on March 1 and, therefore would not be covered under my warranty.
I called Mavis and spoke with Chris regarding the problem. He explained that Mavis would replace the sensor but would not reimburse me for any charges incurred during the diagnostic tests at VW.
COMPASS VW replaced the damaged sensor and set all basic settings and tested. The charges incurred due to the damage done to my car total $499.95. I’m a 21-year-old full time college student. In the span of a week, I spent $1,694.27 on my car!
I have attached all service records, receipts, and photos of the damaged sensor. I believe that I should be reimbursed for the expense of having the damaged sensor replaced.
Desired outcome: I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of replacing the damaged sensor
