Kmart Stores45 day return policy

P Aug 12, 2018 Review updated:

My daughter had a storage while she lived with me she placed a couple of layaways in kmart and as she got them out she put those items in storage. She had queen sheets in her layaway but she switched her bed to a king. She just moved in her apartment on 08/10/18 and she tried to exchange the sheets. They said they can't do anything because it has been past 45 days so they sent her out the door with sheets she can't use. How lousy.

kmart isn't responisible for the change in bed size/ bed frame etc..
the sheets were past the time frame where a exchange could be made
    not kmarts fault

45 days is a VERY reasonable return policy. Most are 30 days or less. Just because they refuse to break the rules it doesn't make it lousy service.

One thing I would like to put out there is you said this was a layaway originally. and even if it was the shorter layaway period of 8 weeks, your daughter had a total of 101 days from the moment she put them on layaway till the 45 day return period would have expired after getting it out of layaway to decide if they were the sheets she really wanted or not. That's means they lost 101 days worth of opportunities to sell those sheets to another customer, and likely have started to have clearance markdowns, so after accepting them back they would already be unable to sell them for the same price as they were sold to your daughter for.
