I am filing a formal consumer complaint regarding a brand new 2026 Kia Sportage that is experiencing severe, recurring mechanical defects. The vehicle suffers from a major transmission slipping issue, which Kia dealership service technicians have repeatedly claimed is an "electrical glitch."
The vehicle has been brought to the authorized Kia dealership three separate times for this exact issue, spending a cumulative 13 days out of service. As of last night, the defect has returned, and the vehicle is currently back at the dealership for its fourth (4th) repair attempt. I am currently driving a dealership loaner vehicle.
Under Minnesota Statutes § 325F.665 (Minnesota Lemon Law), the manufacturer has been given a reasonable number of attempts to repair this vehicle, and the defect persists. Because the vehicle is currently being held by the dealership, I do not have copies of the previous service invoices on hand, but I will upload them to my case file as soon as they are retrieved from the dealer. I am seeking a full vehicle repurchase (buyback) or a brand-new replacement vehicle from Kia America.
Claimed loss: Loan Total: $58,002.84
Desired outcome: I am seeking a full vehicle repurchase (buyback) or a brand-new replacement vehicle from Kia America.
