Business Check my company wrote to a contractor was altered and funded for $5000 more then check was written for. This was back on 1/16/2024 and have been trying to get resolved for over the last year and a half. Chase Bank on Main st in Houston, TX is where the error was made.
They need to check Penal Code 32.21. Chase basically have told us that the mistake was made but they do not have to be accountable because they were not contacted in their time limit. Chase Bank altered our check (fraud) and paid out on Chase banks mistake, holding us accountable for the $5000 overpayment. I know Chase Bank has Error and Omission Insurance but I don't understand why they are not making this right. There is no way they didn't find this error on their end but did nothing about it. Or does Chase just let $5000 errors on their tellers just be overlooked?
Claimed loss: $5000
Desired outcome: To be paid back the $5000 that Chase Bank altered and paid out.
