Claim denial
November 12, 2025
We recently suffered an oil leak in our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit (VIN 1C4RJFJG2FC685906 mileage 108,505) with 3.6 Pentastar motor. We purchased the car a little over a year ago from Springs Automotive Group.
We also included a Level II, 3 year Xtended Care vehicle service contact (contract number AAGT 008490065) through First Automotive with the purchase.
The oil leak was determined to be originating at the plastic internal oil cooler, which is a common problem with this particular vehicle.
I was going to replace the oil cooler myself as I was preparing to conduct a past due tune-up on the car. The tune-up procedure requires a significant disassembly of major engine components to perform, which also exposes the oil cooler for replacement.
The oil cooler is attached directly to the engine by 5 threaded casting directly into the engine block. The cooler also has 4 rubber seals that fit into castings of the engine block, sealing the system.
I elected to have the professionals at Springs Automotive Group repair the oil cooler since, to me, it is clearly covered under the Xtended Service contact.
Level I of the service contract states “...and all internal, Lubricated Parts” are covered. After performing the work on our car, Springs Automotive Group submitted a claim with First Automotive which was denied because they claim that the oil cooler is not considered an ‘internal lubricated part.’
Perplexed by this denial we contacted First Automotive to protest their denial citing that under a Jeep 5 year engine and powertrain warranty, the oil cooler is considered an ‘internal lubricated part’ and was covered under that original warranty. They were steadfast in their denial.
We then consulted with Spring Automotive Group about our concerns. They were understanding and advocated for us with an additional phone conference with First Automotive. We spoke with ‘Henry’ on 11/10/2025 at approx. 4:15 PM. We presented evidence that the oil cooler is considered by Jeep as an ‘internal lubricated part.’ The claim remained denied.
In addition to my original interpretation that the oil cooler is defined as an ‘internal lubricated part’ another section of our contract seems to apply to this situation.
Under Level I of the service contract it states “Seals and gaskets coverage applies only to Covered Components and is limited to vehicles with 125,000 miles or fewer at the time of sale.”
Obviously, the oil cooler kit that was installed in my car required the 4 rubber seals at the engine block castings in order to function.
Below are attached several easily accessible documents from Jeep, its parent company Stellantis and other service manuals that clearly contradict First Automotive’s claim that the oil cooler in question is not an ‘integral internal lubricated part’ of the engine.

I mean what even is this?
Not happy so far. I bought the Tire and Wheel protection and today I got a nail in my tire. Should be easy, right? WRONG. I called their Customer Service to find out how to use this ... which ... I mean she couldn't care less about anything I was saying, really bad attitude, no customer service skills AT ALL. According to this contract, I can't have anyone...

Purchased the extended service contract through the Dealer. Jerry Hunt Superstore in NC.
Transmission is bad in my vehicle, dealer says I need a new transmission, First Automotive will only supply a used transmission with 90,000 miles on it. No background info on the transmission. Very rude “Supervisor “named Juan basically said that’s all they will cover and too bad. Worst bunch ever. Highly recommend never purchasing anything from this business. I could have saved the 3800 I paid them and used that money towards a brand new transmission with a warranty.
Recommendation: Never Purchase

08/14 contract number ***. I was misled/ lied to about the coverage I was accepting and paying for. I was told by the Dealer that my car had bumper to bumper warranty. Only to have a car issue my fuel pump has went out and I was told this is not covered. I either want my car fixed or cancel this contract. I have contacted The dealership about the motor vehicle act and will contact who ever I need to get either this contract canceled or my car fixed for 100.00 deductible I was told I will only have to pay. I have a 2014 XTS Cadillac. Contact me ASAP for resolution as of now my car is at Findlay Cadillac Dealership in Las Vegas NV. Someone need to figure out who lied to me.

We have a 2013 Kia Sorento that we have bought it for a year. It was bought at *** in Elk River MN. It was bought with a warranty that we have paid every month. Now the oil leaks a lot, and we have to have a quart per day. It seems to have the oil filter housing as well as the oil pressure that leaks. The warranty says those things do not have the warranty. It is very upsetting as the warranty is junk. We need our car fixed.
I purchased the warranty for our 2011 BMW x3 in August . After 5,000 miles the engine had an internal problem which caused damage to parts the warranty company does not want to cover. The service manager at *** told the warranty person he spoke to the problem WAS NOT related to sludge when they pulled the valve cover; yet, when I spoke to RC ( ) from the warranty company he said the claim states it was sludge that caused the problem, which is not true. So, it was an internal engine problem, not caused by a pre-existing issue and not from neglect. ALL parts affected should have been covered under the warranty.

We bought a car in 2020 and bought vehicle service contract.. We were told that if we sold the car or no longer wanted this we could opt out and receive a pro-rated refund. We sold the vehicle on July 5. We sent a letter as designated by the company on July 6. We had not heard so we contacted them by phone on August 16,2021. We were told to send an email to them with all of the information and a notarized statement as to the mileage of the car which we did. We called again today and was put on hold for over thirty minutes so we finally hung up. The service contract price was $2,500.00. The mileage was 13, 330. The VIN number of the car was: ***. I do not want this service nor have I ever used it
I do not want this service nor have I ever used it. Yet I was charged $1407.00 for it when I purchased my car. I did have one issue with my vehicle and since I was charged for the service I went to the place I purchased the vehicle and asked about using this service I paid for and they said I couldn't use it. They made it sound like i will never be able to either. So I want a refund of the $1407.00 and all the interest that amount occurred on the loan that I have for my car. They can pay it directly to my loan company or to me either way works. My name is ***, social security number is ***, ***, loan # *** thru ***. That's all the information I have since first automotive service never gave me an account number.

I informed First Automotive Warranty of cancellation as per a client's request on 8/19
On 8/19, I informed First Automotive Warranty of the cancellation as per a client's request. I sent a registered mail on 10/1 at 4:43pm to cancel my warranty. Initially, the client indicated they would handle the cancellation, but later I was instructed to send the letter. On 10/1, I spoke with Ali Edwards for the address. By 10/10, I confirmed the mail was received on 10/6. After speaking with many representatives, the last being Mitch and Isaiah, I've yet to get a response. I'm seeking a refund for the unused three years of my six-year contract, hence I need assistance.

On Dec. 3 2020 contract ID # *** was began with this business. I bought a car with a company that me and my cosigner thought to be coming from an honest company. However, that was realized much later it was not true and that cars contract was completely cancelled on 05/08. Myself and my cosigner have several unsuccessful mail in refund cancellation letters that remain unanswered. We also never can get a clear answer over the phone. and we are on a time limit. We have read all of the contract and we deserve our money. and they keep giving us the runaround. By the laws of alabama, in the fine print of the contract it states that by law as long as i file a complaint 45 days after it is cancelled i am owed a full refund. this was a fraudulent loan and this contract was null and void. I dont have a scanner or id provide proof however i have sent mail and called with no response i want the money paid for the gap and the warranty refunded to me immediately to my address

I have requested a copy of my contract multiple times because the car I just bought which is covered by them is having issues with the transmission\rear end and I was told this was a wonderful warranty which would cover everything bumper to bumper. I called them with the issue I was having and the guy told me that the loss of communication of a vital module would not be covered and that it was a "list only" warranty. Well this is not bumper to bumper and now the transmission is acting up and I do not wish to be stuck with a large bill because these folks won't cover it so I want to know what exactly IS covered. I feel they are stonewalling me until the warranty runs out. Seems to be a scam just to get an extra 500 dollars out of me that I could have used to fix the car. As of now, it needs to go to the dealership to have the module coded and to scope the transmission issue. This is mega-bucks and why I paid the extra money at the time of purchase for a warranty in the first place. I've called these people and I've made multiple requests on their website for a copy of my contract to be emailed to me as per what the guy on the phone told me and have not had one single email. My next move is the Virginia state attorney general's office and my own attorney.
