I files my taxes yesterday with h&r block . When I got home I looked over the paper work they charged me $325.00 for filing my taxes. I was never made aware of how much the fees were or given the option the pay for the fees upfront. I got charged another $35.00 for them to take the fees out of my refund. The lady was very nice but I even asked her how much it was going to be for her to file my taxes and she told me it was already taken out of my refund. I got charged almost $400.00 dollars for about 20 minutes of service.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

How is it my income tax return is 1, 174 but after H&R Block fee's, and what i owe for emerald card advance.i did the math after fee's, and they still owe me an extra 300.00.how can i get what they owe me?they have robbed me!this sucks..
Paid for Peace of Mind Guarantee in 2006, H & R made error on my tax return, they actually admit it but deny my claim due to time constraints. Have filed an appeal... what a nightmare... H & R Block owes me over $1, 100.00. iRS COLLECTED THEY MONEY FROM WORK.
I WILL NEWER USE HR BLOCK AGAIN.
I am a professional and remember the first year I opened my practice. I received a call one evening from an individual who pretended like she was interested in becoming a client. She then started asking all these tax questions, which I didn't answer. I just asked if she would like to make an appointment. After stammering for a few seconds, she then informed me that she was with an H&R Block office and no one in the office knew how to handle the tax situation. I laughed and hung up, shaking my head.
Why anyone would hire the likes of H&R Block (or the other big box tax preparers) is beyond me! After 5 years of college, continuing education and passing the toughest professional exam, I'm constantly amazed at the people who blindly put their trust in someone who passed a 4-6 week program that teaches these "tax pros" how to enter info into a computer.
...and THEN, actually PAY TO HAVE THEIR TAXES DONE CORRECTLY! Do you pay for a guarantee that your doctor will diagnose you correctly?
I was told by an employee that my check would be in at a specific time. And when I called at that specific time; I was told that my check wasn't in with an attitude and then hung-up on. And what really pisses me off is, I ended up paying $213 to file my taxes thru this company and I get treated like a dog! H&R Block will NOT see me next year!
went to H&R in Nov. they were offering a loan. was told when my w-2s ome in i would get a RAC loan also. would get 2000 the day they prepared my taxes the rest the following day. come to find out i wouldnt get no money for over a week. i believe they did the early loan so i would have no choice but to let them do my taxes. i think is bait and switch. or at the least very deceptive
LOL or just go to complaint board and let a CPA hound you with advertising... huh JMastriano?
i agree they did bait us and think they should do the instant loans they have lost my bussiness next year im going where i can get mey money instantly i have been a steady customer for over ten years so tuff luck for them
If you took the time to actually read the papers you signed, you would
know you were under no obligation to H&R Block prepare your return.
On the other hand, it is much easier to keep your head in the sand and blame everyone else for your own incompetence.
Please do go somewhere else next year, but be sure to bring a pristine
credit rating if you want the Refund Anticipation Loan (RAL) the other folks are offering. When you are denied on the loan and get flipped to their RAC and pay $49.95 instead of the $32.95 that H&R Block charges, don't say I didn't warn you. Good Luck!
I paid well over $500.00 for a "rapid refund" and was given a guarantee that I would receive a direct deposit into my bank account within 8-15 business days. Well sure enough the money never was deposited, when I contacted the IRS, they stated they released my refund to H&R Block on the 15th day. When I called H&R block they stated the money should show in my bank that day before the branch closes, I notified the bank that I was expecting these funds and they informed me they had nothing scheduled for that day to come into my account nor did they have anything pending. I then proceeded to call H&R Block and spoke with the manager "Roger" who kept telling me give it till the end of the day, it will be there, well I was contacted a day later and told my refund will not be available until 5 days past the date latest date given, not because of the IRS but because someone at H&R Block dropped the ball and didnt do their job correctly! I advise anyone getting their taxes done to PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This is only one complaint of thousands of the same problem, I could of had a real rapid refund for half the price at another company...or could of had someone else prep my taxes...H&R Bock is filled with liars and irresponsible accountants USE CAUTION!
In November when you got your early loan, H&R Block had every intention of providing RALS when you returned to prepare your taxes. Government regulators prevented H&R Block's bank of offering RALS this year and did not make the decision until December. So H&R Block did not bait and switch nor was it deceptive. It was unfortunate, so please feel free to write the OTC with your complaint.
There is no rapid refund this year, real or otherwise.
You can thank the current administration in Washington for that.
You should have received and e-mail or text message confirming
that your return was accepted by IRS. When you didn't get it you should
have contacted your local office immediately. One thing every taxpayer
should keep in mind, is that YOU alone are responsible for filing YOUR
return. Regardless who prepares your return, never forget that simple
truth. Good Luck next year.
Be warned! H&R Block charges a ton of money for even fairly basic returns. I went in under the impression I would maybe spend $100, the charged me almost $200! I've always done my own returns but because I had itemized deductions this year I figured I'd have them done professionally...bad mistake! For that much money I could have figured my taxes out on my own! If you value your hard earned money, do not go to H&R Block!
The 1040EZ is a basic return, unfortunately you can not itemize on the
EZ. Therefore, you must use a more expensive form. This is not rocket
science people. Instead of complaining, maybe you could do us all a favor and learn how to do your own taxes.
I was charged $32.95 for direct deposit for my tax refunds.I got my refunds thru the regular mail.I was told that my bank rejected the transactions. My bank had no record of these rejections.I was told by H&R that it was a banking fee for the direct deposit, but when I called they stated it was for a antisipated refund? They could not tell me why I did not recieve the direct deposit.I check my returns and all the info was correct.
rip off
So My husband filed his taxes an they said he would get them in 7 to 14 days an he didn't. They say on the wesite it is the IRS. How is it the IRS when they are giving anticipation loans for his money. They never get the money then give them out. They have never said they have to wait to get it from the IRS. I think it is really messed up we have no food nor gas nor a way to get our kids to school. We NEED OUR MONEY
so, you cannot afford gas and food the rest of the year other than tax time? isnt that what paychecks are for? although you might have a legit complaint, using "I think it is really messed up we have no food nor gas nor a way to get our kids to school. We NEED OUR MONEY" as backing for your complaint is weak
The loan program was discontinued because critical information that the bank used to receive from IRS is no longer being sent. In other words, the IRS has decided that
they get your money to you fast enough. For most people it is typically 7 to 14 days.
H&R Block currently offers a Refund Anticipation Check (RAC), but that program
requires the IRS to send the funds to H&R Block Bank and they in turn release the
funds to you. If the IRS never sends the funds, perhaps due to back child support
or defaulted student loans to name a couple of common issues, then surprise you will not be receiving the funds from H&R Block Bank.
My advice, save some money during the year and pay for your tax preparation when you visit the office and have your checking or savings account number handy so you can get free direct deposit.
That is rude. but I think I got one to top it. My husband went into an H&R Block office yesterday, (Monday, January 21st 2013) while he gave the tax "professional" our information she called him a cradle robber. My husband and I just got married in may of 2012 after 3 years of dating. We are in love. sure there is a significant age difference. but I was over the age of 18 when we started dating and obviously over the age of 18 when we got married. he didn't rob me of any innocence that I had not lost years prior. Also neither of us have credit or money so he is not my sugar daddy. he is my husband. I looked online and 99% of all references out there refer cradle robber to pedophiles. IM OUTRAGED! THEY UNLEASHED THE WRONG "GRAVE ROBBER" AS THEY WOULD ASSUME ME TO BE!
Does anyone know of any laws that were violated in this situation? I really hope there is because I want to sue. I want to get that employee fired. Along with a whole list of other stuff that I don't think would be a good idea to reference in writing with my I.P. stamp referenced on logs.
Seriously Taxprep4U...if we did our own taxes, then sarcastic employees like you would have no income. We want 'peace of mind' and we want it entered correctly, THE FIRST TIME...it's just that simple, simple.
Tax fraud, tax evasion, identity theft, selling of personal information, conspiring with criminals, women of criminals are infiltrated at all their office locations...money hidden there!they are also takers of women and men!
I had my taxes done by H&R Block for the 2014 tax year and the cost was $ 625 dollars and that was steep since the 2013 tax year filing was only 450 dollars and I still thought that was still steep since they only spent 35 min's doing my taxes. H&R Block charges more than attorney costs .
my wages were levyed from the internal revenue . i paid them in full march 31 with the understanding my pay would stop being levyed. i have now lost over 1200.00 dollars to the iRS because h&r block does not know what they are doing.
