The first thing I’ll say is I know leaving a review is pointless because greyhound does not care at all.
Leaving for my trip, their driver ran a red light and was hit by another driver, is caused others on the bus the be injured. This caused my connecting bus to leave me behind in Detroit. Missed the bus by 15 mins.
The midnight security female was EXTREMELY rude and trying to force everyone getting off the bus out the front door not listening just being RUDE, she came at me twice telling her I’m not leaving because I WILL be having another bus arriving. Finally she went away. Calling Greyhound customer service to get their screw up fixed was a nightmare. They actually hung up on me. Like I wasn’t the angry guy on the phone, I was legit trying to get things rolling. Anyway, I ended up with a 7.5 hr lay over for the next bus.
Oh and let me just add, the driver who was in the accident was a pompous [censored] who loves the sound of his own voice. Literally yelled at a guy for having his hearing aids in, driver mistakes them for ear buds and embarrassed the guy.
I will also mention I watched and witness a even worse driver force a elderly woman to place her luggage precisely where he wanted it, and saying further further further…. Like is was bad and intentional.
Anyway. Coming back, greyhound decided that once they dropped me off in Dayton they were going to extend my layover which was already 4.5 hrs to an additional 6 hours (10.5hrs) then it went to an additional 2.5 hrs and than nearly 24 hrs before anyone was coming. They’ll expect you to sleep on the floor like you’re a dirty dog.
I bought an entire different ticket and hopped buses to Chicago to just get a train which AMTRAC excellent! I want a full refund for all the crazy nonsense this company has created and brushes off so carelessly. Including having to pay for additional tickets and fare by using another company. FlixBus/ Greyhound is really worse I’ve ever experienced in my life. I truly hope they loose millions paying for that accident in Toledo to every passenger. They don’t even deserve one star.
Recommendation: Do everything you can to avoid greyhound / FlixBus
I have a feeling that you were rude, which is why they hung up on you. Also, if you got to your destination, YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO A REFUND. Stay at home if you cannot afford to travel. The only refund you are entitled to is for the extra ticket.
You have a real claim here, not just a bad review. Do three things today. First, file a safety complaint with the FMCSA about the driver running the red light and the accident, include date, route, and bus number if you have it. Second, send Greyhound customer relations a written claim with your ticket numbers, receipts for the replacement tickets, and a clear demand for a full refund plus the extra fare you paid. Ask for a case number in writing. Third, call your card issuer and dispute the Greyhound charges for services not provided. Keep every receipt and screenshot. They ignore angry calls, but they answer paper trails and regulators.
