I have been using GoDaddy as the platform for my online business since 2021 when their prices were acceptable and their service was great! Over the last couple years their service declined alarmingly, while their prices are going through the roof! How is this acceptable and even possible? Please avoid this company at any costs, you will have issues and nobody to respond to you or care about your issues! As of this time, June 2025, you are dealing with just a bunch of careless and lazy liars and incompetents who are only after people's money!
I have been using GoDaddy as the platform for my online business' website since 2021. I am only selling online and since 6/12/2025 my website cannot take mobile device orders, as the checkout button does not show up. This is a major impediment for an online business! It was brought to my attention by one of my customers and I have called GoDaddy three times that day with a sense of urgency, spent about 2 hours talking to 3 different people and after all said and done I was told that the problem was fixed, only it will take until next day for the updates to apply and my website to function properly. Upon checking again the next day, nothing has changed, the checkout button does not exist when ordering from a mobile device. I called again and nobody answered after 25 minutes on hold! This is completely unacceptable and I hold GoDaddy responsible for my business losses and for ignoring me as a long time customer who pays top money for their service! As of now, 4 days later, my website still cannot take mobile device orders and nobody at GoDaddy seems competent enough to resolve this issue, so they simply are ignoring me. I am requesting urgent correction of the problem and a complete refund of my last payment to them (in September 2024) in the amount of $431 for 1 year website, domain and email service, as this is not service worth paying for!
I did not know they were bought out but the quality of their services went down significantly over the last few years and I am sure there are many more people disappointed with their services. I am actually in the process of moving away from them altogether.
Thank you for your feedback and good luck to you too!
Been holding back my frustration for a while about Godaddy as I have been using their services since early early Y2K maybe even as far back as 1998/1999. I have a few different accounts and have used their services, for Domain Purchases, Website Hosting and Email.
I have steadily watched them increase prices, degradation of Customer Service (( used to get a Service Rep. in Arizona relatively Quickly; now you speaking to some outsourced/ off-shored service center) and in addition there is a general quirkiness with renewals and functionality of their website.
Unfortunately they were purchased by a Private Equity/Venture Fund several years ago and we all know how that goes. Maximize Profit and minimize expenses. So the Company ultimately loses its appeal to use their services.
I stopped creating new websites with them a few years ago. High Pricing and limitations, ( I still have a main website on the old Godaddy Website Tonight Platform) which I plan to have someone rebuild on WordPress. I have one other website via Wordpress through GoDaddy (( overpriced subscription)).
Starting In 2025, I started using another Registrar for all my Domain purchases and have found them to be reasonable and not hell bent into locking me into their fiefdom. I addition, No Overpriced Domain Protection/Privacy (( which is a standard free process now)). This new Registrar is also based in Arziona; and based on my research does not appear to be affiliated with Godaddy.
Eventually, I plan to migrate all my domains from Godaddy.
The next phase is now for me to migrate my OFFICE365 Business email service from Godaddy as well; You can actually purchase service directly from Microsoft as well. However, I plan to use a Standalone Email service which values your privacy and move away from many of these Goliath Tech Companies.
My advise for anyone who runs any online business based on my experience.
NEVER KEEP YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET.
-Use a Standalone Registrar for your domain purchases
-Use a Separate Company for your Hosting/Website (( under your own control )) Not your website/developer/designer etc. You can give them access to work on it.
-Use a Seprate/Standalone email service provider
More to manage; but it keeps you in control of your own Kingdom and not a part of someone else's.
This post applies to how bad the internet has gotten and how these Goliath Companies are hindering it.
Good Luck!
this is a follow up post since my last post on September 10, 2025 and I will continue to beat the drums regarding GoDaddy Services. I am steadily migrating away from them , almost done with all my emails for each of my business brand, So I had approximately 8 different emails with Godaddy at about $100 per year after their so called discounts. I migrated to a Private Secure Switzerland Based Email Service which is about $19.00 per Month for a Business email plan which Allows be to host 15 Email Domains and 20 separate email accounts for the $19.00 per month or $228.00 per year vsthe $800 plus per year via GoDaddy.
My GoDaddy Domain renewals have been about $21 to $35 per renewal ((( depending if I am locked onto there Enhanced Domain Protection and privacy )))) Admitedly I missed a few renewals on Non-Critical Domains (( which would show as renewed in my GoDaddy Account and in-fact they were not!))) So I have been migrating to another Registrar which Costs $11 and includes the Privacy Service.
My further frustration is most of these Services want a Cell Phone for the so called 2-Factor Authentication. ((( I don't want to give out my cell My choice My Privacy )))) GoDaddy has begun requiring this so I use a Virtual Number. And when using my VPN, it's is pain when their cookies can't track me and causes my login to take extra long with multiple verification requests. Therefore everything is being filly migrated with my Private Email Service.
2-Factor Authentication is not a friend; just another means for Big Tech to grip their claws into you. Don't fall for this trick.
Refer to my previous post on suggestions for serious entrepreneurs. Do not place all your eggs in one TECH BASKET.
