On 7/23, Sunday July 23rd, five days after purchasing my brand new oven i used the self cleaning mode only to experience my home filling with chemical fumes that I could hardly see through. My eyes were inflamed, itching, burning and watering! My white shutters had a blackish film afterwards.

A few days later, I went to Home Depot to see if I could exchange the model out and was told that it was after the 48/24 hour limit that I needed to go into ge themselves.

GE came out and determined that the unit was working as intended and would not exchange the unit out for another unit in the Ge family.

Self-cleaning ovens can produce and emit dangerous fumes into the air with an unpleasant burning smell. Self-cleaning ovens reach high temperatures and produce fumes from the burning of food particles and enamel lining. These fumes circulate within the indoor air and can affect the home occupants.

I have just had cataract surgery and I’m very sensitive to chemical fumes smells and concerned that I may be harming my eyes. I ask that you please revisit this issue and exchange the unit out for another in the GE family. I am very uncomfortable with using the bake feature on this oven as I still can smell the residue. Also, what is going into my food.

Thank you in advance,

Gail joubran

Desired outcome: Exchange oven for another in ge family.
