1. I booked a rental car with Fox Rent A Car through the Capital One Travel website using my Capital One credit card.
2. The total prepaid rental cost was $109.12 for June 9–12, and I paid this amount in full at the time of booking. I was not expecting any additional charges other than a refundable security deposit.
3. When I picked up the vehicle on June 9, the rental agent informed me that a $284.66 security deposit would be placed on my credit card as a temporary hold. I was clearly told that the full amount would be refunded once I returned the car.
4. At no point was I informed that roadside assistance, insurance, or any other optional services would be added to my rental. I was never asked to approve or authorize these charges.
5. I returned the vehicle on June 12 at approximately 6:00 AM. Since no employee was present, I parked the car in the designated return area and placed the keys in the drop box.
6. After returning home, I discovered that Fox Rent A Car had refunded only $150.00 of my security deposit and had retained $134.66.
7. I immediately contacted Fox Rent A Car and was told that the withheld amount was for roadside assistance and insurance.
8. These charges were never disclosed, explained, or authorized by me. Had they been presented as optional services, I would have declined them because I already had insurance coverage.
9. I believe Fox Rent A Car improperly charged me for services that I neither requested nor consented to, making this a deceptive business practice.
10. I respectfully request that the unauthorized charge of $134.66 be refunded and that my dispute be resolved in my favor.
Recommendation: Do not use them
