I am submitting this complaint regarding Ford Motor Company and my 2018 Ford Escape equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine.
The vehicle experienced the well documented coolant intrusion issue leading to complete engine failure at approximately 109,000 miles. The vehicle was regularly maintained, including service performed at Ford dealerships, as recent as February. A Ford dealership confirmed the diagnosis and estimated repair costs at approximately $10,000 for engine replacement.
I opened a case with Ford Customer Care, submitted supporting documentation, and formally requested goodwill assistance. Ford reviewed the request and denied assistance based solely on the vehicle being outside the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and exceeding age/mileage thresholds.
There was no dispute regarding the diagnosis or failure mode. The denial was based exclusively on warranty limits despite the severity of the failure and being a dedicated Ford customer.
I am documenting this experience for consumer awareness regarding how this issue was handled - beware of Ford.
Recommendation: Do not purchase a Ford vehicle
