I don't need much from my phone so I had a bare bones plan through Fido. Over time, they gradually increased to price until I was paying $80 (a premium price) a month for the same bare bones plan.
I viewed plans on the Fido site and found a couple that were very inexpensive and practically the same as my $80 plan. I selected one for $37.50, hit Next, and was redirected toward checkout. Only the plan I selected was gone and in its place a $80 plan. I tried this several times and each time my selection was changed without my permission with no way to get the cheaper plan. I tried the chat bot, but as soon as I selected "Change Plan" it greyed out and wouldn't let me use it. I made a different selection and went to a human, who told me to call 611. I did. They said I would have to schedule a call-back for the following day.
These tactics are incredibly skeevy and dirty. From gradually increasing my price like the proverbial frog in a pot of water to blocking me from downgrading shows Fido to be dirty and untrustworthy. Amusingly, it was less effort to just move my business to another provider (where I got a way better plan for the same money than I would have through Fido).
