Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services f59424192

Ac # F594241952
I am disputing this account because I have never owned a discover card. My wife Betty Praylow, who is deceased, or my son Ralph Praylow jr. had access to my ss number to make these accounts in my name. I have never used a discover card and never owned one.
I am requesting that this debt of $7, 448.69 be removed from my name.

The way your bank sees it is that if a friend or family member benefited from this account, with or without your permission, you indirectly benefited. I have only worked with visa/mastercard disputes, so i am not trained with discover card regulations, but we would require you to file a police report against the individual if you know who did this. If you are not willing, we assume that in some way you benefited from that account, otherwise everyone could just call in and get away with thousands of $$ that they rightfully owe.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services discover is like a scam artist!

I have received an offer from the DISCOVER Card Services in February 2011. They offered 0% APR for 15 months, $0 set-up and maintenance fees for the life of the card. They also offered in their letter $100 reward as soon as I make $1, 000 in purchases within 3 months on my account. I called the DISCOVER on the [protected] from my Brooklyn home on March 31st and I made a contract with them. I got $2, 500 credit line. They tried to convince me to sign up for their payment protection plan. I refused them. A week later I got my card, set-up my online account and made $1, 000 in purchases. Weeks passed and when I checked my online account on May 16th I was unpleasantly surprised when I saw a $49 Annual Fee charge on my card. I called them in order to inquire about the charge and only the third customer representative, a supervisor, could answer to my questions. She told me that someone decided at the DISCOVER card services, after the contract was made over the phone on March 31st, that I'm ineligible for their offer and as a result -without my approval- they decided to alter the terms. They just “forgot” to let me know about the changes. I was told that I had to pay $49 Annual fee and I cannot get the $100 reward even though I made the $1, 000 in purchases and paid the balance. I had $0 debt. I was told that they could cancel the $49 Annual Fee if I close my account within a few days. This was a typical case of bait and switch! I was mad as hell! I was supposed to get $100 reward from them however they want me to pay for them $49 a year! How ridiculous is that? I cancelled my card in a heartbeat! I will never make another contract with them! How can someone trust a credit card service company if it alters the agreement without letting know the customer about the changes? DISCOVER Card Services is like a SCAM ARTIST. STAY AWAY FROM DISCOVER!

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services unfounded, not proven allegations of money owed

Been receiving harrassing phones calls from a collection agency, CBCS accusing me of owing Discover Card a balance of $7266.00. The person that was being accused lived in TX. The problem, I've never been to nor have I ever lived in the state of TX. Finally, CBCS I hoped realized there was a serious mistake being made. Today, March 9th received a notice stipulating they stopped their collection procedures on this account and they were giving it back to Discover Card. They did however suggest that I submit three forms of identification to Discover. I say, let Discover Card contact me and send proof that this account is mine.I just they think because I'm a Sr Citizen easy prey, intimidated and manipulated in compliance with a fraudlent scheme to distord money. This is what it's esp when you do not owe what you are being accused of. Do figure.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services do not give them your money

Do not give them your money !
They can transfer the money via ACH to their account when you open it. But when you close the accout, the ACH transfer is limited to $50K per month to external account outside Discover. It took them 2-3 business days to close an account (not including fund transfer time). They asked me to fax a letter to request closing my account, so I did. But 24 hours later when I called again, they could not find my fax.
They are a mess. Do not do business with them.
Your money will get stuck with them.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services incorrect 5% bonus cash back calcuations

I was appalled to find out that the cash back bonus calculations of Discover is inaccurate. I signed up for the travel and restaurents 5% cash back bonus program for 2011 Jan-March season and noticed that they have not paid the 5% bonus for a $5000 airticket purchase I had made for my family. When I contacted the service person on chat, they casually mentioned that its my fault for not checking the cash back bonus all these days. Beware of this scam and dont trust Discover to provide your cash back accurately...

Unless it is purposeful misleading of customers, Discover has a glitch in their system - just like the original poster I have the same problem. I understand the cap and I expect no more than $40 in cashback for travel category but they have so far not paid me and I am not giving up easily :)
They just keep sending me from one person to another with false/ignorant information. When I initially spoke with them they said that I would get it in 8-10 weeks of time. Now the travel category period has expired and I don't see it. I have written communication with them on file that shows how ignorant and helpless they feel. The last one recommended me to call back again and talk to a supervisor, which I am going to do.
I can foresee a class-action lawsuit coming their way with this kind of practice...

The cashback bonus can be confusing. I was confused when I first started using it. There are caps on the cashback bonus. I know the cap for the particular promo you are talking about is $800.00. After you spend that your cashback bonus % goes back down to your standard rate (depending on your card). So if you cap out on the travel, rest. category, the total cashback bonus rewards you earn is $40.00 and then if you spent more you'll earn your standard cashback bonus. I was confused because I thought (the very first time I heard of cashback bonus) was that they PAID you or you received a discount at the time of purchase. I found out though, after reading about it, that you receive cashback bonus in a bank (which is your cashback bonus bank) that they have on file with your account that you can later redeem for gift cards or cash. I hope this helps! I really love the cbb :)

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services underhanded interest practice

Discover made a balance transfer offer to us at 0% interest for six months. Very nice. Took one for $1500 at Xmas time. The remaining balance was paid in full every month. I did not notice until this month that there had been an interest charge made on the new monthly balance, which as I said gets paid in full each month. Come to find out unless you pay off your entire balance, INCLUDING THE 0% balance transfer amount, they charge interest on EVERY new purchase from THE DAY IT IS MADE. My husband bought a new computer this past month so the balance was higher than normal, but we still were planning to pay the entire balance off, except for the 0% balance transfer. So what good is it to accept their 0% balance transfer? So lucky me, I was getting 0% interest on $1500 but having to pay 12.9% interest on all my other charges of over $4, 000 with NO GRACE PERIOD. They do not warn you of this practice when they offer the balance transfer. It is only after the fact, in small print after interest has already been added to your statement. So even if you are able to pay off your purchase balance every month DO NOT ACCEPT A BALANCE TRANSFER FROM DISCOVER. I called to complain and the agent agreed that it was not a fair practice. I think she was surprised when I told her the details. But of course no offer to credit my account was made.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services refused to honor servicemember's protection act

I am a reservist who was recalled to extended active duty. My status clearly qualifies me for protection under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. I sent Discover Card a copy of my orders and other documentation they requested within the required time period. In fact, I sent my orders on five separate occasions. Each time, I received a boilerplate response from Discover with an excuse why they did not have to comply with the law.

On two occasions, I received a response that my reserve service (which was active duty -- I worked alongside my regular Air Force counterparts and put myself in harm's way just like them) did not qualify, and/or that only my husband could get protection. I wrote back each time, explaining they were making an error in law, and providing my orders once again.

Now the statutory time period (180 days) for filing for protection has expired, and they are denying my request on that ground. When I called to explain that I had already sent my orders in a timely manner, I got connected with a very hostile customer service supervisor, who pretty much blew me off.

I give Discover Card a D- for how it deals with servicemembers. Discover -- shame on you for not following the law.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services refusal of advertised personal loan

I received an offer from Discover Personal Loans in the mail saying I had a superior rating of 5.0 and could apply for a personal loan at 7.99%. I was denied the loan because of high cc balance (I only have 1 cc - that is Discover) and was attempting to use the loan money to pay off (completely) the Discover cc. This is truly a scam when I can't even pay off their own credit card with their own personal loan (seems like the same thing, only they don't get to change the high interest rate).

I have been a Sam's Discover card for over 5 years. I have never had an issues with balance or payments.
The last 4 charges to my card have been denied. I received one call saying to call security to review charges.
I have spent over 45 minutes on the phone, dialing thru the robo call process to get to a call center in the philliapines to then get cut off 3 times being transferred to somewhere...
My questions:
Why is every charge held ie declined til I review/clarify? Why have the card in the first place?
There should be a direct dial number to call and SPEAK TO A PERSON to resolve.
VERY frustrating to be cut off after 20 min of robo call program 3 TIMES and still not have resolved.
Please explain!

In 2017 I wanted Discover to match a competitors rate. My cedit score is flawless and I never was late or had a missed payment. Discover would not match the interest rate of another company so I wanted to pay off my Discover Card. I called them and remitted payment BUT instead of it just being paid off they closed the account. Now if I want to use Discover I have to reapply and have a double impact on my credit score because it was harmed once by them closing the account and it would be harmed again by re-opening what would be looked at as an additional account.

Early in 2017, I noticed that Discover Card had report my account and my wife's account on Experian and Transunion as "resolved in bankruptcy in 2017." They showed a $0 balance. I wrote a letter to the two credit reporting agencies and Transunion immediately removed the information. Experian verified the information as true and noted our credit reports as such. Since March, 2017, I have sent a series of letters to Experian and Discover card disputing this information. They continue to ignore my correspondence and just send me form letters. Due to the libelous nature of the damages the incorrect information is doing to our credit scores, I have stopped paying them. Damages caused have caused me more than the $1500 balance they claim I owe. I am seeking others with a similar complaint with Discover card.

Discover Card used to give you a cashback bonus once you reached $20. Now, it's $50! You can't redeem it for cash, but, of course, you can still choose to spend that $20. It's a way of getting you to do business with their partners. So much for having to give us something once the Fair Credit Act was signed into law. They had to find a way to screw us over.

I would say that is not as big of a rip-off as their cash back bonus terms. I used to think that 5% back in certain categories and 1% on everything was great. That's what I get with my Chase Freedom card (5% back up to $1, 500 in that category for that category/quarter). However, I noticed 2 things that are ridiculous with Discover:
-5% bonus on quarterly categories is only valid up to $300 in purchases (wich equals $15 bonus), a measly 1/5 of the Freedom reward.
-1% on everything only applies after you spend $3, 000 with that card in a given year.

I know that bonus programs are above and beyond what credit card companies are required to provide consumers. However, this is deceptive, because to a lot of consumers like myself, that small print is a big deal. It looks like "My name is Peggy" actually does work for Discover, not just in their ads.

I had been having trouble with this huge bill and made an attempt to get a loan to pay it off. The loan has not been finalized yet, I called them a week ago to find out the payoff amount because the lending bank wants to know.

So today I see a huge amount in thousands for the payoff amount I asked them for as a huge minus in my checking (because the money is not there to pay them). It seems once you let them have access to your checking they think its okay to abuse it in this fraudulent way as I did NOT authorize it and only told them I was "hoping to get it paid off in the next few days or weeks when my loan was approved". I guess they took this for an ok to deduct the total amount from my checking! Sadly this may tie up my paultry paycheck which got deposited so I have no money for anything and all my checks I scheduled to be paid today will bounce incurring late fees and charges AHHHHHHHHHH!

I find this hard to believe. More than likely, you either signed up for automatic payment or asked for a payment plan of some sort.-Which every customer seems entitled to these days.
You probably bounced a check and what you're noticing is the check being re-presented to your bank for the maximum 3 times to collect the funds. You are not telling the entire story.

Mr. Cardmember, you were sent this notification in January 2017, so you could prepare for this change, get over it. Everything changes, do you not realize the credit card companies are in business for a reason. CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT A CHARITY, THEY ARE A BUSINESS. and Cashback Bonus is a BONUS, appreciate it and shut up!

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services non coverage of loss

My elderly father had his credit cards stolen by a home health aide caring for him. On her 1st day working my father let her use the Discover card to buy some groceries. She returned the card the same day. She later stole the Discover card as well as 2 other cards and used his personal info to get a password over the phone. She withdraw over $1200 on the Discover card and my father was never alerted by them. Now Discover won't cover the loss because they said my father let her use the card on his first day out of the hospital.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services beware

I HAVE BEEN A DISCOVER CARDHOLDER FOR MANY YEARS AND PAY ALL MY BILLS ON TIME.I DID NOT RECEIVE MY MONTHLY STATMENT, WHICH TOTALED $11.99. THEY HAD SENT IT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS.THEY SAID ONCE A BILL IS RETURNED THEY NEVER SEND ANOTHER BILL. DUE TO NOT RECEIVING MY BILL, I MISSED THE PAYMENT. THEY SENT THIS INFO TO THE CREDIT BUREAUS AND IT ADVERSELY LOWERED MY CREDIT SCORE BY 85 POINTS.

THE LATE FEE WAS $19 AND MY BILL WAS $11.99. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT DISCOVER CARD DOES NOT HAVE TO SEND YOU A BILL, IT IS YOUR REPONSIBILITY TO PAY IT. THEY HAD NO UNDERSTANDING AND SINCE I HAVE ALWAYS PAID THAT BILL AND ALL MY BILLS ON TIME IT IS SO UNFAIR THAT THIS IS GOING TO RUIN MY CREDIT FOR 7 YEARS. THEY WERE SO RUDE AND TOLD ME THEY CAN"T REVERSE IT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT AT FAULT. THEY WON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO SOMEHOW SENT IT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS. I HAD A VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT. PLEASE BEWARE AND DON'T LET SOMETHING LIKE THIS RUIN YOUR CREDIT- WHEN IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services fraud

My brother took out a discover card in my name, discover sent the card to him at his address, he paid on it out of his bank account! When we found out we did the right thing, we called, we filed fraud charges, we filed a police report, we sent certified letters, we put a fraud alert on our credit report. Disvoer is calling us, hounding us, calling our work, calling 4 times a day every day. They called our boss so many times we were let go! And now they found us again and we already know we will get let go if they dont stop. Actually my brother took out three cards in my name, then called one up told them I was dead so he could transfer it to discover card. As soon as we found out we filed fruad charges.Thats when he quit paying on it, but my goodness they sent the card to him at his address, they sent the bill to his home, he paid it out of his bank account till we filed the charges, and now discover wont do anything about it except hound us to the point of losing jobs!
I blame discover after all had they done something really simple like check a name to an address I would not be in this mess, now would I discover? You broke us, you hounded us, you got us fired, you continue to harass instead of going after my brother! we gave you his name, his address, his businesses he wons, we asked you to check the account he was paying you from, and your answer is we dont do that, this is in your name, you will pay or we will make you pay, and take your home, and get you fired, and make you suffer for the rest of you life.
Well thanks discover we really appreciate that effort, too bad the same effort is not applied the ### hole jerk that you sent the card to in my name!

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services felony telephone harassment

Discover Card began calling our home 2-3 times a day in April 2010. They were looking for a person that we do not know, that has not had the phone number they are calling or lived at this address. After the first few calls, we made it a point to 'pick up' the phone and talk to someone as they had a error that needed correcting. Their repugnant refusal that we ARE the person they are calling and demanding our account information made us suspicious. So we asked them not to call back and immediately contacted Discover Financial via their web page and calling their 800 number. All that resulted from this is that they now have called us daily 5-6 times per day for this other person for a fraud protection inquiry. This past week they have called in excess of 5x daily Sun-Sat and will not stop calling.
I can't sleep anymore without turning off our phone. With a dependent traveling the US on college break, this is very un-wise. I have already lost several days of work as I was unable to sleep with them calling multiple times per hour once they knew someone was home. This is blatant telephone harassment, and I am not even the person they want to talk to.

THey can be reported for harassment with the multiple phone calls. I would encourage you to let them know next time they call that they are in violation of the fair debt collection act (as well as telling them again that they have the wrong person) and let them know they are about to be reported. Contact the better business bureau if you haven't allready. I wish you luck on this.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services apr changed for no reason

I was promised a 7% rate on a balance transfer from Discover. I needed a new roof, mine was leaking, so I took the offer and had several thousand transfered from Discover to my bank account. The 7% APR was suppossed to last a few years, just enough time for me to pay off the debt completely. Problem is that 4 months later they upped it to 24.99% interest instead! I called and complained as I couldn't afford the new rate. They told me I had payed late on a payment. I looked into my records and found that I had actually payed the payment in question a full two weeks early! I called back and complained again. They basically told me to get lost! I tried to pay as best as I could but my husband lost his business and we were left penniless so I stopped paying and started gathering info to do a bankruptcy. However, Discover came in, one week before the bankruptcy was to be filed, with a lawsuit against me to make me pay something I cannot afford and didn't agree upon. This company is slimmy, evil and just downright dishonest. Never ever deal with them if you can avoid them. Their dishonesty and heartless cruelness is appauling.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services lower payment plan scam

Here’s the problem:
1) Why should any consumer be required to give Discover access to his or her checking account to be eligible for a reduced payment? What if I did not have a bank account or closed my bank account and was paying via money order? Do you mean to tell me if that is the case the person is not eligible for a reduced payment program? If the objective is to help the consumer pay down his or her debt, then Discover should facilitate that however possible. If they set up a payment plan with me, and I do not stick to it, then increase the interest again…it’s that simple!
2) Why can’t the balance from one card be transferred to the other so there is only one card and one payment? When I got one of the cards, I transferred a balance from a Visa card, but you are telling me they can’t transfer the balance from one Discover Card to another? I am suspecting they refuse to do it because it would mean a reduction in finance charges and interest rates since now they are able to charge me for two Discover accounts instead of one.
3) Why is Discover calling me if there has been no change in the policy about who is eligible for the reduced payment program? They keep calling me and claiming I am eligible for a new program, but when I speak to them, it's the same old program. I have refused to give them my checking account number. No one is going to convince me otherwise!

I submitted a payment with discover card for a bill I had. I was paying the bill in full and when Discover submitted payment to my bank they mistakenly withdrew an additional 3000.00 dollars from my account. When I contacted them about this I was told that they saw their error and would have it placed back into my account within 24 hours. after waiting a day I called again since they had drained my account and overdraw my bank account. I now have a overdraft fee and still have not received the money they took in error. I called again and I was told it could take up to 15 days for them to return the money.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services misplaced funds/customer service

I will limit this horror story to the most relevant details; a full recitation would be too tedious to write and to read.

On Nov.17 2009 I requested a transfer of $1000 from my Discover Bank online savings account to my local Wachovia checking account which I had previously registered on the Discover website to enable transfers between the two accounts.
Five days later I received an email saying that Wachovia had rejected the transfer and instructing me to call to resolve the issue. I was puzzled because my Wachovia account is and has been in good standing for many years. I called the Discover customer service number and the person who spoke to me was baffled when I told him about the email. He transferred me to another person (after a long time on hold). That person was equally clueless. Thus began an unbelievable ordeal. Over a period of days I was repeatedly transferred from one person to another, with long periods on hold, having to explain the matter from the top to each one.

On the "Overview" page of my account on the Discover website it was indicated that Wachovia had rejected the transfer because they could not identify the account. I soon detected the reason: the disguised account number shown in the email and on my Discover page was twelve digits; my Wachovia account number actually has thirteen digits. To verify the mistake I asked one person to read me my Wachovia account number shown in their records. I was correct, one digit had been dropped. I pointed this out to each person I spoke to but it didn not seem to register with any of them.

At one point I became so exasperated that I demanded that the account be closed and an official check be sent to me. When I received the check it was $1000 less than my correct balance; The thousand dollars in question had apparently vanished into thin air. More phone calls--more time spent on hold--no rusults.

Incredibly over a span of forty-three (43!) days I spoke to thirty-six (36!) individuals by actual count. I estimate that I spent about five hours on the phone (mostly on hold) Twice I was told that the person would research the issue and call me back. That did not happen. Once I was told that if I wrote a letter formally closing the account I would be issued a check for the missing money. I sent the letter and received no response whatsoever. The last person I have spoken with told me they still needed to verify that Wachovia had rejected the transfer. This after forty-three days and despite the fact that they had sent me an email to that effect and despite the fact that the "Overview" page of my account on the Discover website clearly indicates that to be the case.

!@#$#!@!@$

This nightmarish experience was generated by a simple typographical error compounded by a shocking level of indifference and incompetence on the part of Discover Bank's customer service reps and by their apparent confusion over the banks processes. The matter is not yet resolved.

Discover is truly the Bank from Hell. Lawyers riding on elephants could not induce me to deposit another cent in this bank.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services fees on cds, money market

I have recently opened up a money market and two CD account with Discover.

I experienced terrible delays in processing my transactions, deposits, withdrawls and any other request, the customer service was the worst and arrogant reps at discover bank.

My check book was ordered and did not delivered to me for almost two months, and debit card never arrived for 3 months till I closed the account.

Due to this horrendous practices of Discover Savings (Bank), I moved out my money market funds. But, when I asked them to close my CDs and deposit the money back, there was so much of hassels they created that I have to send them in writing and only fax can be accepted.

When I send the fax as per their request, they told me after three days that I did not agree for fees. Yes, my fax clearly states that they have to any early withdrawl fees because I am closing discover cds because of their terrible customer service and delays in transactions.

The account manager kept me on the phone for few min to discuss it with her seniors or whoever, came back and said, they will not waive any fees on my CDs?. So, I have to send another fax clearly stating I acknowledge and agree for the fees?. Despite my request, the account manager did not help me.

Discover bank and their administration has to be investigated by FDIC, federal regulators and consumer advocate groups for their deception and cheating behaviors of innocent customers.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services discover card screwing america backwards

Fellow Hardworking American Citizens,

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GET A DISCOVER CARD!

(Have a bake sale, a car wash, sell stuff on ebay, but don't get screwed by a credit card company, like I am gettting screwed (BUT NOW FIGHTING BACK)

...DON'T GET ANY CREDIT CARD FOR THAT MATTER. I KNOW YOU HAVE HEARD THIS BEFORE, BUT IT CAN'T HURT TO HEAR IT ONE MORE TIME BECAUSE IT IS THAT IMPORTANT, NOW MORE THAN EVER, WITH THESE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES AND THEIR BANK CRONIES TEAMING UP WITH WASHINGTON TO BUTT SCREW AMERICA TILL WE SUBMIT OR I GUESS FIGHT BACK LIKE I AM DOING AND YOU SHOULD TO, ONE AT A TIME, WE CAN FIX THIS ###, AND THAT'S DEMOCRACY...

My story or a rough cut of a letter that is truly still a work in progress is below, it is being sent to discover, craft your own letter, fight the power, no more 28% interest, no more debts that last 20 years because they are specially formulated to keep you in debt, based on the companies knowing your payment history that is what you are capable of, and hitting you with fees or an interest rate, to keep you in debt, it is IN DISCOVER CARDS BEST INTEREST FOR YOU TO BE SUFFOCATED WITH DEBT YOUR ENTIRE LIFE, no more!make a stand, the time to fight is now...complain on the internet, post your stories, rants, complaints, even if they are rough like mine, you can come back and hone them up later...also file complaints with the better business bureau...et cetera...more below...

My name is Tom Anderson and I am submitting this formal complaint letter to Discover Card. I am a very dissatisfied customer and will also be submitting this letter with adjustments made per the audience to the Better Business Bureau, City, State and Federal business regulatory commissions, consumer advocacy groups, my local politicians where I first became a Discover card holder, and to the politicians where I currently reside, local, State and Federal. In addition I will wage an all out campaign against Discover Card and their unscrupulous practices via the internet. By any means necessary. I will give Discover Card 7 days from my mailing of this letter to address this situation, I will be willing to negotiate, initially, but in the past when I have battled capitalistic, corrupt institutions like Discover Card I have found they do not work with me until they see the full barrage one motivated consumer can wreak upon their business.

I have held a Discover card for over 9 years; I have 99% of the time paid my bill, in full on time. I have made a lot of money for your company. That is over.

Problem # 1

My credit limit is at roughly $5000, you loaned me $5000, how many times do you think I have paid you $5000, for the privilege of that initial loan, and how many more times does Discover Card expect me to pay another, and another $5000 on that initial loan you made to me years ago. Other consumers may pay, and pay, but I am standing up and telling you, you made your money off of me and we are through. I have not even used my card for almost 2 years only made payments and their that debt is unmovable...and not even just the minimum payments, we're talkng 300 dollars here, 500 this month, 150 another month...and the debt stays the same...

Problem # 2 Closely tied into Problem #1

Discover Card has figured out a way based on consumers average payments, interest rate, credit limit et cetera to keep a consumer constantly and permanently in debt. We have all heard the statistics of how long it would take most consumers to logically and reasonably pay off their credit card debt. We have also heard of how many hard working, good, decent Americans are buried in your credit card debt. Enoughs, enough.

The real question is, do you settle with me, or do you allow me to begin my campaign to encourage all consumers to fight and push, and push and litigate, and default, until your company collapses.

Problem # 3

You have consumers agree to changes in contracts, not by signing or even reading (Witnessing) the change but simply by continuing to use their card. So you sell a consumer a Credit Card via an awesome 0%, no payments, incentives, cash back, BS sales pitch, then mail about thirty offers, junk mail, to the consumers house over the next year but one of those envelopes contains addendums to the original contract, like if you miss one payment not only will you be assessed a late fee (Double Jeopardy Punished twice for the same offense), but your interest rate doubles. How about a late fee or double someones interest, rate, or how about

hey I made my payment, for whatever reason it was a little late, people have logical reasons for being late in life, and so all is forgiven you still get your money and you are still getting 10-13 percent interest on your money, BUT thats not good enough for the fine people at Discover Card, NO, how about my money and 13 percent interest, and a late fee, nope thats not good enough either. Double the interest rate too.

No consumer in their right mind would or for that matter, it turns out, ever did agree to this clause. That clause isnt how Discover Card gets customers. You get em with a beautiful offer. Then send out an addendum to their contract. I would be willing to fight this in court on the grounds that, YES, FOR A CONTRACT TO BE VALID BOTH PARTIES HAVE TO READ, AGREE TO AND SIGN IT. For that matter I might just say that I am not sure I ever signed an agreement with Discover Card, and maybe many consumers didnt. I dont know if I signed my initial contract, it would be easy to find out, but I know I never signed any addendums, concerning raising my interest rate for late payments.

The question is, do I take legal action action against Discover or do I encourage thousands, no millions of consumers to take action, involving many lawyers, in a class action lawsuit against Discover on the validity of contracts, this is just one point among many that could dissolve your and other credit institutions in an instant if this goes to court.

Problem # 4 - And in Closing

I will not pay my Discover Card bill, not now, not ever. Like so many other hard working Americans. Discover card HAS constructed a system to keep consumers in debt. You and other credit lending institutions are unscrupulous. The time for change is NOW. You crossed the wrong guy in this consumer. I will negotiate with you now (Maybe) or within 7 days of you receipt of this letter, but then I pull no punches, and settle for no less than the bankruptcy and collapse of your company, via consumer education, spun into individuals fighting Discover card, turning into class action lawsuits all over the country concerning the validity of contracts and other unfair practices, and turning over accounts and bills concerning overcharges, re-adjustment of interest paid, refunds, refunds, refunds, collapse.

I hope to hear from Discover Card representative soon concerning this issueif not.

One more thing...recently I made a payment on my card at Sears...Discover card called me a month latter and said I owed them a 2 payments, and a late fee, and they are going to raise (Double) my interest rate, because that's what they do if you miss one payment...well, this is because they didn't get the payment I made...computer error...people error, don't know yet, it's under investigation, just telling consumers this because all Discover Card holders who have ever been assesed a late fee, or had their interest rates increased, should immediately, don't delay, call or email Discover and demand an audit/investigation of your account, it could be they made a mistake, and didn't get your payment, have them turn over the books on your account, before you ever let them charge you a latge fee or raise your interest rate.

Thank You for reading...

If we all stand up to this BS we can beat it...Democracy?

Deadbeat? That must include me, too. Discover raised my rate to 29.99 (is 30 the limit or something?) so I must be a WORSE deadbeat. I've been late, but always catch up. Late fee each time - $39! Seems to me Discover makes more off us late-deadbeats than the pay-on-timers. What I really have to admire is the over limit fee which results from the late fee when my "minimum" payment arrives. Net result...I make a payment (late) and my balance goes UP!

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services terrible experience

I just thought I would let you know about a public interest issue that you might want to pursue. Long story short and I can provide more details if needed

I applied from a mailer for a card got approved got the card sent to me and I activated it with a $6000 credit limit...

I procrastinated in doing the balance transfers (apparently there was a time limit) So I called they would not work with me so I suggested I canceled the unused card reapply for a new one (as you cannot have 2) and then not procrastinate I was warned that I might not get the same deal.

I did this and was declined !

The reason was my mortgage had not gone down!?!?!? I like many many others I am on an interest only but unlike many others am paying on time with no missed payments or even any payments late. If I was renting an apartment the payments to them would not effect my credit. So why within one month I have gone from $6000 to Nothing.

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services possible scam to get one to activate fraud protection

I signed up for a Zero Percent card with Discover. Recieved my Cards in the mail and activated the cards. 2-3 months later I recieved a paper stating that my account cards had not been activated. When calling the number on the paper it asked for my Social Security Number. I promptly ended the call. I called Discover directly to inquire as to whether my cards had been activated and they stated that they were. However, since I recieved this paper, someone was trying to access my account information and I should sign up for fraud protection. I have seen other complaints about Discover Card signing users up for Fraud Protection that they feel they did not authorize. Could this be a method they are using to do this? The number I was given to call to "activate" my card was [protected]. Anyone reciving something with this number should be cautious.

All of those Credit Card Insurance plans are scams. Not one will ever do anything except delay the payments. They don't really shut off the card even, so whats the point to it. you already had that much protection before paying extra for it.

Cut every credit card you have up in pieces and close the accounts.

Transunion and Equifax are the electronic crimes reporting companies in charge of your credit ratings and these electronic accounts. But they are companies founded by Casino owners ! Casino Fraudsters are supposed to be in charge of the Nations credit ratings ?

I just had the EXACT SAME THING happen to me! I signed up for a zero percent balance-transfer card from Discover earlier this year and activated the card as soon as I got it. I got a notice in the mail today (Sep 25 2009) saying the following:

"The new Discover card that we recently sent you has not been activated. Please contact us today by calling [protected] to confirm you have received your card(s). We plan to send you a replacement card if we don't hear from you by 09/25/09. For your security purposes, your card must be activated before you can begin using it."

The notice had my name, address and the last 4 digits of my card number on it.

I called Discover immediately to double check that my card was active (which it was) and that they hadn't issued another card (which they hadn't). But as soon as I explained to the representative why I was calling and that I thought I had received a possible postal mail credit card scam she went into immediate hard sell mode in trying to get me to sign up for Discover's Identity Theft protection service at $9/month. She said that since it seemed as if someone was trying to access my account then I should at least sign up for a couple months and then cancel when I felt I didn't need it anymore. She even went as far as to say that she'd give me the number to cancel while I was on the phone so I would know that it was an easy, straightforward cancellation process.

The entire call felt like a high pressure sales tactic so I stalled and said I needed to think about it but would call back later once I'd made up my mind. Instead, I immediately jumped on Google and found this review with someone having the same experience as I did. This is all very fishy to me... I would hate to think that Discover was running a scam to scare people into signing up for extra, unneeded services. It doesn't help their case that I also just received a copy of my new account agreement with all the changes mandated by the new credit card laws coming into effect. Seems like Discover is trying to drum up extra revenue if you ask me...

Discover Bank / Discover Financial Services very upset

I paid for a service called the Account Protection. The terms was if I became unemployed or disabled they couldn't add interest or late fees or any fees to the account for two years. I would be charged monthly on my card to pay for the account protection. Now I did come unemployed and I informed Discover that I was unemployed and at that time they should of activated the protection. I'm now being taking to court and sued by Discover. I feel as though they're unfair jerks. They took the money and didn't provide the service at all. I'm very upset and feel like I was screwed over by this company. I think everyone should be aware of this.

As someone who currently works with Payment Protection Insurance, you have to speak directly with the insurance company, and the number would be listed on your statement each month, next to the transaction where you paid for the insurance. Calling Discover and telling them you're unemployed doesn't do much, you have to let them know you have the insurance and ask to have it activated.

Account protection is typically provided by another service. Did you make sure you weren't supposed to call someone else to get your benefits?
